•Chapter 1: The Underworld•

As we make our way to the Underworld, we sit in the boat in silence as we think about what could be waiting for us in the days ahead. A few moments ago, Emma randomly passed out and everyone waits for her to wake up while I continue to stare at the darkness that surrounds us.

The silence that surrounds us is broken when Emma jerks awake with a gasp as she sits straight up and looks around in shock. I watch as Mary Margaret and David comfort her before I look over to Katherine, who's sitting next to me with an expressionless look on her face with tear stains on their cheeks as she stares ahead of her, looking at nothing. After staring at her for a long, silent moment, I begin to pray that we can do the heart split thing with Sam.

"Hey," I hear someone whisper, causing me to turn to see Robin looking at me with concern in his eyes, "you okay?"

"As good as I can be," I answer, "why?"

"Well, you've just lost two people in one day."

"Thanks for the reminder."

"And you're crying."

My eyebrows come together in confusion before I bring my hand to my cheek. When I pull my hand away, tears sit upon it.

Before we can continue our conversation, Rumpelstiltskin announces our arrival. I look in front of us to see a poorly lit dock as goosebumps begin to form on my arms. Once the boat comes to a stop, we all get off and begin to walk along the dock. I can feel my heart beat faster and faster as we continue into the fog. An eerie orange light glows in front of us as the fog begins to clear before we come to a stop and stare around in silence at the Underworld. Once we take it in, we continue to slowly walk down the street.

"How is this possible?" Emma asks, "how does the Underworld look like Storybrooke?"

"Your questions are pointless," Rumpelstiltskin hisses, "all that matters is, all these people in this Underworld are dead and trapped because they have unfinished business."

"So anyone with unfinished business stays here?" I question.

"Did I not just make that clear?" he grunts.

As we continue to walk through the streets of fake Storybrooke, hear a familiar engine roar before the old-fashioned, black and white car zooms by.

"Cruella," Emma gasps.

"That's right," Rumpelstiltskin states, "and she's here because of you. And I imagine there are many here because of all of us. Let's not lollygag."

"Split up," Emma tells us, "we'll cover more ground."

Katherine and I stand there in silence as we watch everyone split into groups of two before making their way in different directions in search of Hook. As soon as they're out of sight, Katherine and I walk to Granny's in hopes of seeing a familiar face.

"Tell me more about your brother and his girlfriend," I told Felix as we sat up in the tree, watching the sunset.

"Well, Fletcher was one of the nicest guys around. You guys would have gotten along really well," Felix said with a smile, "he was always there for me whenever I needed him. He was good looking, too."

"Weren't you guys twins?"

"What's your point?"

I laughed as he looked at me with a smile.

"What about his girl?" I asked.

"Harper," he whispered, "she and Fletcher were perfect together. She was the light of his life. She was kind and took care of everyone in need. She was our childhood friend and mine and Fletcher's first crush."

"Oh..."

"No need to worry, Sunshine. I got over it fast. She was too perky for me. But not Fletcher. He never stopped chasing her until one day when he asked her to the ball."

"They seem like really nice people. I wish I could have met them."

"Yeah. We would have been like the four musketeers."

"The only problem is that I can't use a sword," we laughed at my statement and, when we settle down, he has a small smile on his face.

"I'm just glad they're together again," he sighed.

***

When we enter the diner, we look around at all the people sulking as they go about their day before we walk up to the counter as a woman with blonde hair turns to us. As soon as she turns towards us, Katherine and I jump a little when we see her grayish-blue, pupil-less eyes.

"Hello, children," she greets as she sniffs the air.

"We're looking for a boy," Katherine states, neither of wanting to be here longer than we have to, "blonde hair, blue eyes, and a scar near his lip."

"Sorry," the woman answers, "he could be a guest here but I can't exactly see. Do you know what he smells like?"

"Smells like?" Katherine questions then sends me a confused look.

"Thank you for your help," I quickly say before I grab her arm and make our way back to the door and away from the freaky, witch lady.

"That was really weird," Katherine whispers.

"I know," I say, "but we need to figure out where else-"

"Why's David here?"

At the sound of her question, I turn to see David in a leather jacket walking into the diner as the door closes slowly behind him.

"David!" I call, causing him to smile before he makes his way over to us, "did you find anything?"

"Uh...no," he answers with a sly smirk, causing me to stare at him in confusion before I send Katherine a look.

"Hey James!" a man calls from the other side of the diner, "your brother was just seen at the park!"

As soon as the realization sinks in, my eyes widen in shock as I stare at my father's twin brother while the stories I've been told about him filled my head.

"You know," I say as my hand slowly makes its way around Katherine's wrist, "we gotta go."

Before James can react, I turn and literally drag Katherine to the backdoor of the diner and out into the alley before we sprint as fast as we can away from the diner. Once we feel we are a safe distance away, we slow down to a walking pace as we think about other places Sam liked to go.

As soon as the idea hits me, Katherine and I begin our walk to the docks. When we get there, we walk along the water in search of the place he could be.

"We would have found them by now," Katherine sighs, "where else should we look?"

"Maybe we should-"

"Rapunzel?"

At the sound of the name I haven't heard in a long time, I come to a halting stop before I slowly turn to see a boy I haven't seen in a very long time standing on the dock as he stares back at me in shock.

"Fletcher?"

Surprisingly, he gets a huge smile on his face before he walks up to me and pulls me in for a hug. We quickly depart before he continues to stare at me in confusion.

"You're not dead," he states then looks to Katherine, "neither of you are."

"How do you know?" I question.

"It's not hard to tell. What are you doing here? How are you still alive?"

"Long story and I promise I'll explain when we have time. We're looking for a boy named Sam. He has blond hair, blue eyes, and a small scar near his lip. And a man with a hook. Captain Hook. And I'd like to see Felix."

"I might be able to help with Sam but I haven't heard anything about Hook...or Felix. He's not here."

"What...what do you mean Felix isn't here?"

"I haven't seen him since I got here. I assumed he was still on Neverland."

"Fletcher," I say, "Felix died almost two years ago."

As soon as the words sink into his head, he stares at me in shocked silence before he looks down for a moment. When the initial shock clears, he looks back up to Katherine and me before he clears his throat.

"We'll figure that out later, but, for now, let me take you to Sam."
