"Maybe, Forever was a word meant for memories, not people."
**✿❀ ❀✿**

The sky was covered with orange clouds, which were illuminated by the sunset. The orange, misty-coloured sky made the surroundings more lively and attractive.

Jungkook was walking along the pavement of the park. He had come to Seoul for company-related work. He was now working as an intern in his father's company, a kind of practice before he could take over the CEO position. After having a tiring day, he decided to take a small stroll.

The sunset reminded him of Hana. She loved sunsets, and he would always tag along with her to watch the breathtaking view. For her, the sunset was ethereal, but for him, she was ethereal. He sadly smiled at his thoughts. It had already been two years since they parted ways.

Hana shifted somewhere in order to get proper training; the city was not revealed by her. They didn't contact each other after their special day, which became the most unlucky day for Jungkook. He still wanted to find her and keep her in his embrace forever, but he refrained from doing so because of the boundaries she had set for him. She didn't utter those boundaries, but he read through her soul when he left that day. Her eyes said everything to him. They conveyed that she wanted no invasion in her life after they parted ways.

But his heart still held onto hope. Maybe that was the reason he never dated any other girl after her. His mind always said it was a stupid hope, but his heart overruled his mind.

He walked carefully while watching the sunset. He roamed his eyes around his surroundings, but stopped when a particular figure caught his attention.
A very familiar person.
Kim Hana.

She was sitting on a bench, facing the sunset, her lips curled upward in a beautiful smile. He was stunned to see her there. His rubbed his eyes and looked at her again. She was still there. He wasn't dreaming.

Was this a hint from fate that they are meant to be together?
A hint that destiny wanted them to meet each other after two years so unexpectedly?

He smiled at her sight and decided to talk to her. He took a few steps toward her but halted when he saw a man come and sit beside her. He handed her an ice-cream, which she gladly accepted. Jungkook's heart lost its last hope when she pecked the man's cheek.

Tears brimmed in his eyes, his mind yelling at him to walk away. He took a few steps back, but his eyes couldn't leave their figures. They both were laughing and giggling while talking to each other, and pain was stinging his heart.

He didn't want to invade her space and life, but couldn't help it when his legs had already moved toward them. He silently sat on the bench that was positioned in the opposite direction of their bench, facing different directions.

He knew he shouldn't listen to their conversation, but he was already doing so. He leaned his head backward, listening to their talks. He was breaking the boundaries, but he couldn't care less.

"How is the ice-cream?" the man asked, smiling at her. His back was facing theirs, but he could definitely feel the emotions through their voices.

"It's so good, Jihoon," she giggled.

His name was Jihoon.

"And how is your fiance?" Jihoon asked, and Jungkook could feel the teasing smirk in his voice.

"The most caring person I could ever get." She replied; her tone held relief. He felt her smile through her voice.

A tear left his right eye. God knows how much he wished it were him instead of Jihoon, sitting beside her and talking about their marriage. He wished that he were her groom instead of Jihoon. But it was not possible. It would never, ever be possible.

"I promise you, Hana, I'll always stand by your side through thick and thin. I'll never break your trust. I'll never give you any sort of pain," Jihoon whispered to her, but Jungkook was able to hear it clearly.

"I promise that my love will be the cure for all your wounds. I'll be a cure for all your scars caused by your past; I promise."

More tears rolled down his cheeks when he realized that he was the one who had given her all the scars in the past. How much he hated to admit the fact that he was her horrible past. Jihoon was definitely a better choice for her. He was better than him in every way. At least he was not a playboy who went around playing with every other girl, makes shitty bets, and ending up regretting everything.

"I trust you, Jihoon. Please, don't break it ever."

He couldn't bear it anymore, so he just walked away from there. Tears were endlessly streaming down his eyes as he walked out. He was trying to find a way to release his frustration, which led him to get wasted in the first club he found.

He was completely drunk when he left the club. He was walking lifelessly on the road but stopped in the middle of the bridge. He looked at the water beneath him as he held the railing.

Was this the end?
The end of his hope?
The end his love?

He was still holding onto hope, even when he knew that she would never be his again. But now, when he saw her with her fiance, his all hopes shattered before his eyes. He wanted to end all his pain, guilt, and regret.

The alcohol took over his mind as he kept one foot on the railing. He was going to keep his other foot too, but a hand pulled him back, making him land on his butt.

"Yah! Mr. Melodrama, are you an idiot or what? What do you think you were doing? Are you out of your mind-" the girl stopped her blabbering when she saw him crying like a maniac.

She mentally slapped herself for suddenly bursting out at a man who was already not in his senses. She hesitantly put her hand on his shoulder and said, "Hey! It's ok. What happened to you?"

She frowned when he held her hand while blabbering, "Hana, please, come back to me. I promise I'll try to give you the best. I tried to move on, but I wasn't able to. Please, I promise I'll never hurt you."

She stared at him carefully; he was drunk and blabbering out of nowhere. She concluded that maybe he was heartbroken. He just needed a shoulder to cry on, so she did what she felt was right. She consoled him while rubbing his back. She told him that sometimes it's okay to clear your mind instead of keeping everything within yourself. Jungkook ended up telling everything to that girl. Sometimes, the heart feels more comfortable talking with a stranger instead of a loved one. He told her everything while she sat there staring at his face.

Tears were rolling down his face, and he sobbed after every sentence. She felt pity for him. He surely was regretting everything. After talking for half an hour, which felt like an eternity, he sat on the bridge, his back leaning against the railing. That girl sat beside him because she felt it was wrong to leave him in this state. She was worried that he would again try to take the wrong step.

She sighed, as the silence felt a little awkward between them. She cleared her throat before saying, "You need to be a little mature. Do you think that taking a step toward ending your life is a wise decision?"

"I don't want to live without her," he said, gazing at the stars. His voice sounded a little more sober now. He was coming to his senses slowly.

She looked at his face while he was still staring at the stars. He was indeed carrying a lot of pain within himself, and his eyes showed it all.

"Maybe fate has already found someone better for you," she said, making Jungkook look at her. He had a stiff expression on his face.

"She was the best. She was a gem. I can never get a girl better than her. Never."

She sighed lightly. "She now has a person who will cure her broken heart, and you also need someone who can cure your broken heart, too."

He stared at her quietly, taking in the information. His mind was racing with all the possibilities. It would be difficult to forget her, but it would not be impossible, right? If fate had paired her with her Mr. Right, then fate would also pair him with his Ms. Right.

She smiled at him slightly while saying, "Not every story deserves a happy ending, but you can convert that ending into the beginning of something more beautiful."

He nodded slowly at her. He wondered how he felt so oddly comfortable with her. Her smile widened when he smiled slightly.

"So, promise me that you'll try to move on and find someone who will make your life beautiful, Mr... "

He chuckled at her. "Jeon Jungkook."

She smiled and said, "Min Ara."

Was it a step toward a better life? Maybe now he would be able to think about his broken heart and heal all his scars. He wished the best for Hana and himself too. He wished to find his Ms. Right.

Maybe the girl sitting in front of him would be his Ms. Right. Maybe Min Ara would be his cure.

"The End"
