{born under a bad sign}
(okay so we all know how sam was possessed in the episode. well in this chapter, he isn't going to be possessed. it will be ana. also jo won't be in this episode, it will be amelia. just a heads up).
Dean and Sam are under an underpass, Dean is on his cell phone, leaning against the Impala. He is fidgeting, clearly upset. "Ellen, it's me again. Any chance you've heard of Annie?" He says as there was a pause. "I swear, it's like looking for my dad all over again. I'm losing my mind here." He says as there was another pause before he continues. "I've called her a thousand times; there's nothing but voicemail. I don't know where he went, or why. Ana is just gone." Then his cell phone beeps. "Hold on." He says as the phone shows another incoming call. "Annie? Where the hell are you? Are you okay? Don't move baby, I'm on my way."
───※ ·❆· ※───
Ana hangs up the phone slowly, looking numb. Her knuckles are bloody. Dean drives to reach Ana, passing a sign that reads, Twin Lakes, he arrives at the hotel and parks as him and Sam gets out, as Sam was texting Amelia as he was in the car.
Dean and Sam are looking frantically down a narrow hallway at the hotel where Ana is, looking up and down the doors, checking door numbers until they reach 109 which is the room that Ana is in. He knocks. "Annie, it's me. Annie!" Sam opens the door, inside Ana hasn't moved, still sitting numbly on the one bed her head is in her hands, as if it was different circumstances it looks like that she is praying. "Annie, hey." Dean rushes towards Ana.
"Hey." She says as her voice cracked which broke Dean's heart.
"Are you bleeding, sweetheart?" Dean asks kneeling beside her as Sam is on the other side of Ana.
"I tried to wash it off." She says softly.
Dean sees her shirt covered in blood, he gropes at it, searching for a wound. "Oh my god, baby."
"I don't think it's my blood." She says which makes the brothers look at her.
"Whose is it?" Sam asks.
"I don't know." Ana replies.
"Annie, what the hell happened?" Dean asks.
Ana finally looks up at her boyfriend. "D, I don't remember anything. Nothing."
───※ ·❆· ※───
Dean returns to the room, carrying a grocery bag, Ana has changed clothes and is looking a little less out of it. "What'd you find out."
"You checked in two days ago under the name Stevie Nicks, which is impressive, since you don't know a single song." Dean says as Sam couldn't help himself, so he snickered a little. "Your room's been quiet, nobody's noticed anything unusual." Dean says.
"You mean no one saw me walking around covered in blood?" Ana asks.
"That's what I mean." Dean says.
"Then how the hell did I get here, Dean? What happened to me?" Ana asks.
"I don't know. But you're okay, that's what matters. Everything else we can deal with." Dean says to Ana as he put his hands on her shoulder. "It will be okay; we will figure this out."
"What do you remember?" Sam asks her.
"Just that motel room in West Texas, going out to grab some burgers, and...." Ana says.
"West Texas? Annie, that was over a week ago." Dean says concerned for his girlfriend.
"That's it." Ana says as Dean is stunned. "The next thing I knew I was sitting here. Bloody. Felt like I'd been asleep for a month."
"Okay, sweetheart, retrace your steps. The manager said you left yesterday afternoon, and he never saw you come back so..." Dean pulls back the curtain, and he finds a bloody fingerprint on the window. "Hey, baby."
───※ ·❆· ※───
The three of them are walking outside the motel, it's daylight and raining. "Recognize anything?" He asks her, as she shook her head.
The three of them are walking towards a parking garage out back. "Wait."
"What is it?" Dean asks.
"I think I was here." Ana says.
"You remember?" Dean asks.
"Not really, it just.... feels familiar, you know?" She says as Dean shrugs his shoulders and goes to the nearest garage. Ana looks over to the second one and points. "Try that one. Yeah."
"Okay." Dean says as he tugs on the padlock.
"Wait." Ana says as she digs into her pocket, and pulls out a key, and gives Dean a significant look. Dean opens the padlock with the key raising his eyebrows at Ana. He pulls the garage door open to reveal a filthy, beat-up Volkswagen Beetle.
"Please tell me you didn't steal this."
Ana fidgets as they go into the garage, and both open the drivers and passenger doors of the car, Ana is on the driver's side, she touches the wheel, as she shows Dean her stained finger. "More blood."
"Ana, back seat." Dean says as Ana reaches down and picks up a blood-stained knife that sticks to the floor of the backseat.
She stares at it. "You think I used this on someone?" Ana asks Dean.
Dean pauses. "I'm not thinking anything." Ana looks around and rubs the knife handle off on the inside of her jacket, Dean picks up a pack of cigarettes.
"Okay, now this is disturbing. Come on, this couldn't have been you. Had to have been someone else, who smokes menthols." Dean says as he sniffed the pack of cigarettes.
"Here. Gas receipt. Few towns over." Sam says as he handed the receipt to Dean.
───※ ·❆· ※──
The brothers and Ana pull up in front of a small gas station. "Alright, receipt is for ten gallons at pump number two. You getting any, uh, any goosebumps yet? 'God this looks familiar, Deja vu, vibes?" Dean asked as Ana shook her head quietly. "Maybe someone inside, will remember you. Come on." Dean says as the three of them get out of the car and walks inside.
The clerk looks up in shock, then in anger. "You, outta here now. I'm calling the cops." The clerk says to Ana.
"You talking to her?" Dean asked.
"Yeah, I'm talking to her. She comes in yesterday, stinking drunk, grabs a forty from the fridge, starts chugging." The clerk says as Ana looked at him with slightly narrowed eyes.
"Her?" Dean asked, as he turned to Ana. "You're drinking malt liquor?" He asked as she shrugged her shoulders.
"Not after she whipped the friggin' bottle at my head." The clerk says as Dean still his hand pointed in Ana's direction.
"Her?" Dean asked the clerk.
"What, am I speaking Urdu?" The clerk asked.
"Look, I'm really sorry, if I did anything--" Ana says as she tries apologizing but the clerk stopped her.
"Tell your story walkin', girl. Po-po will be here in five." The clerk says.
"Wait, wait, put the phone down. Baby, go wait in the car." Dean says as Ana looks at him.
But--" Ana says but Dean stopped her.
"Go wait in the car, Annie!" Dean says as Ana stuck her tongue out at him, as she leaves. "Okay, look, we just want to talk to you, that's it. Okay?" The clerk hangs up the phone. "Now, when she took off yesterday, which way did she go?" Dean asked.
"Why don't you ask her?" The clerk asked, as Sam crossed his arms over his chest.
"'Cause, he's asking you. Now please, you're doing us a huge favor." Sam says a little snappy to the clerk.
"Oh, do you two a favor? Well, that is what I live for. You know, your girl didn't pay for the booze. Okay? Or the smokes, which she also illegally lit up." The clerk says.
"You saw her smoking?" Dean asked.
"Yeah, she's a chimney." The clerk says, as Dean clears his throat and pulls his wallet out, and places some bills on the counter.
"This, uh, ought to cover it." Dean says.
"Hmm. It's uh, it's coming back to me now. She took two packs." The clerk says as Dean had an annoyed look, as he pulled out more money.
"Of course she did." He grumbles.
"She went north. Route 71, straight out of town." The clerk says as Dean nods, as he grabs two candy bars and leaves with a smirk.
───※ ·❆· ※──
Dean is driving down a dark road, as Ana is staring out the window. "What's going on with you, baby? Hm? 'Cause, smoking, throwing bottles at people. I mean that sounds more like me than you." Dean says as Ana sighed.
"D, wait, right here. Turn down that road." Ana says.
"What?" Dean asked her as he looked through the rear window and at Ana, who is in the backseat.
"I don't know how, I know, I just do." Ana says as Dean turns down a back road and onto a private property. It is a large house with plenty of emergency lighting and security cameras outside. "Whoever lives here, I'd say they don't like surprises." Sam says.
"Should we knock?" Sam asked.
"Yeah, I guess." Ana says, as Dean knocks on the front door, as Sam goes around to the other side as Ana pokes around the corner. "Hey, baby." Ana waves her flashlight at a window. It's broken, the ledge is covered in shattered glass.
"I'm surprised the cops didn't show. Place like this, you'd think it'd have an alarm." Dean says.
Ana finds a disabled alarm on the wall. "Yeah, you would." Ana says.
───※ ·❆· ※───
The three of them get into the house, the floor is covered in broken glass and scattered items. In a back room, they come across a body on the floor. "Hit the lights." Dean says as Ana turned the lights on as Dean and Sam kneels behind the body. Dean places a hand on it and turns it over, it is a middle-aged man with a deeply cut-throat, he is clearly dead. Dean and Sam put a hand over their mouths, as Ana looks horrified.
"Baby, I did this." Ana says as she was off to the side of the brothers.
"We don't know that." Dean says to Ana.
"What else do you need? I mean, how else do you explain the car, the knife, the blood--" Ana says but she got cut off by Dean.
"I don't know, baby, why don't you tell me?" Dean asked as there was a silence between the three of them. "Look, even if you did this, I'm sure you had a reason, you know self-defense, uh, he was, he was a bad son of a bitch, something!" Dean says as he, pats down the body. "He doesn't have any ID." Dean says.
Ana gets her lock pick and opens a double-door closet in the room. Inside the room, one wall is covered in firearms, the others are charts and clippings.
"Son of a bitch... either this guy's a Unabomber--" Dean says, but Ana cuts him off.
"Or a hunter. Baby, I think I killed a hunter." Ana says, as Dean looks up and sees a security camera near the ceiling.
"Let's find out." Sam says.
───※ ·❆· ※───
Later the brothers are standing behind Ana, as they're watching the security tape. Ana's clenches her jaw when she saw her appear in the security tape. "Here we go." Dean says.
On the tape, Ana is fighting the same man that is currently dead behind them. The fight moves off the camera as Ana drags the man back into the frame. She kneels, the man pulled up against his legs and slits his throat. Ana had to look away when she saw that as she is in near tears, watching her do that. Ana lowered her head to keep her tears from falling out of her eyes, as her breath got caught in her throat.
───※ ·❆· ※───
Ana is sitting at the computer desk, staring at a page in her hand, Dean and Sam bustles around behind her, cleaning up, as they're getting their fingerprints. "How do you erase this? Huh? Sweetheart, come on, I need your help." Dean says to Ana.
"I killed him. I just broke in and killed him." Ana says as she is still shaken up of what she had seen on the security footage.
"Listen to me, sweetheart. Whoever this guy is, he's a hunter. Which means that other hunters are going to come looking for his killer, which means we've got to cover our tracks, okay?" Dean says in a slightly calmer done, as he looks from Ana to the letter, then makes a decision. He grabs the CPU, lifts it above his head and smashes it to the floor. Ana flinched when Dean stomped on it with his boots for good measure. Dean looks at Ana, who is still sitting there despondent, and tosses a rag at her. "Wipe your prints, then we go, baby."
───※ ·❆· ※───
Ana precedes Dean into the motel room. "Alright, we get a couple hours sleep and then we put this place in our rearview mirror. Look, I know this is bad, okay? You gotta snap out of it. Baby, say something!" Dean says.
"Just get some sleep, and leave in the morning? Murder, Dean. That's what I did." Ana says as Sam sits on his bed, watching and listening to the conversation between the couple.
Dean is trying to figure out the right words to say. "Maybe." He says as Ana scoffs with a roll of her eyes. "Okay? Hey, we don't know... shapeshifter!"
"Oh, come on. You know it wasn't you saw the tape. There was no eye flare, no distortion." Ana says.
"Yeah, but it wasn't you! Alright? I mean, yeah it might have been you, but it wasn't you." Dean says as Ana sighs.
"Well, I think it was." Ana says as she sits on the edge of her and Dean's bed. "I think maybe more than you know." Ana says as Dean looks at her, slightly confused.
"What the hell does that mean?" Dean asked her.
"For the last few weeks, I've been having... I've been having these feelings." Ana says,
Dean sits on the edge of the coffee table in front of Ana. "What feelings?" Dean asked.
"Rage. Hate. And I can't stop it. It just gets worse. Day by day, it gets worse." Ana says.
"You never told me this." Dean says to Ana, with slightly raised eyebrows at what she said.
"I didn't want to scare you." Ana says as she looked down to the ground.
Dean nods his head and slaps his knee and stands up. "Well, good job on that." Dean says sarcastically to Ana, as she sighed.
"I'm sorry okay, what more do you want me to do!" She says to him which made him stop walking and look at her. "I didn't tell you because I didn't want to hurt you."
"Well, I guess now you did." Dean says as Ana has tears in her eyes, not so much at what he said, but at what they're doing. The one thing that she does not like: arguing. The room has a strong uncomfortable silence, as Ana avoids looking at Dean otherwise, she'd start crying. Well cry more than what she's been doing. "Whatever this is, you can fight it." Dean says more calmer to Ana. Before either brother can think Ana grabs a pistol and hits them in the face which knocks both of them unconscious.
───※ ·❆· ※───
An insistent knocking begins during the brother's blackout. Sam was the first one to realize that he's on the floor of the motel room. Moments later Sam wakes from the blackout. Sam was the first one to open the door. "It's past your checkout."
"What?" Dean asked groggily.
"It's past checkout, and I've got a couple here needs the room." The manager says to the brothers.
"Yeah, I bet. What time is it?" Sam asked the manager.
"Twelve-thirty." The manager says as Dean comes up behind Sam.
"That girl who was with me, have you seen her?" Dean asked.
"Yeah, she left before dawn in your car, and you should have gone with her, because now I'm gonna have to charge you extra." The manager says.
"Oh, son of a bitch..." Dean says under his breath.
"It's just policy, sir." The manager says.
"I need to use your computer." Dean says.
"Now, why would I let you use my computer?" The manager asked.
───※ ·❆· ※───
The manager is counting a stack of cash, as Dean talks on the phone behind him, in front of a desktop computer. "Hi, uh, so sorry to bother you, but uh, my sister snuck out of the house last night and uh, went to a Taylor Swift concert. Uh, anyway, he's not back yet, and, and I'm just, I'm starting to worry." Dean says as there was a pause before he continued. "Right, yeah, girls will be girls. But see, Ana is uh, a diabetic, and uh, if she doesn't get her insulin, I just, I have to find her. Please, I'm begging you. Yeah, no, no, no. I'm on the website right now, I just need to activate the GPS on her cell phone." Dean says as he enters the password, as the GPS screen as Ana's name shows the name NATASHA JONES, with a phone number 905-555-8943. "Yeah, right there. Duluth, Minnesota. Yeah, that is a long way to go for a concert, I appreciate your help." Dean says.
───※ ·❆· ※───
Amelia has her back towards Ana, scrubbing the bar and saying goodnight to some customers. As Jo is not working tonight, so it is just Amelia at the bar. "Goodnight, thank you."
Mia enters and clears her throat. "Sorry, we're closing up." Amelia says as her back is towards her.
"How about just one for the road?" Ana asked her friend as Mia turned around shocked to see her friend.
"Ana? What are you doing here? With all respect, you're the last person I'd see, right now. No offense."
"None taken. Well, ask Dean I've always been full of surprises. So, can I get a whiskey?"
"Sure." Amelia says as she pours some whiskey in a glass for Ana, and sets it down on the bar, then turns away, bustling over cleaning up the bar. "So, how'd you find me?"
"Well, uh, it's kind of what we do, you know?" Ana asked.
"Speaking of 'we', where's Dean and Sam?" Amelia asked.
"Couldn't make it." Ana says.
"So, what are you doing here, Ana? Not that I'm complaining of seeing my best friend. But in all seriousness why are you here?" Mia asked Ana.
Ana shrugged her shoulders at what she said, as she took off her leather jacket that she was wearing. "Can't I not see you on a random night?" Ana asked as Mia notices a circular burn mark with a short line through it on Ana's forearm.
"That looks like it hurts." Mia says to her friend.
"No, nah, just, just had a run-in with a hot stove." Ana says which Mia didn't believe at all, but she wasn't going to push it.
"So, I get it you wanted to see me, but it's almost midnight, and I need sleep, if I have to get up early tomorrow." Mia says to her friend.
"I know how you feel about John, and I can't say I blame you. He was obsessed -- consumed with hunting. And he didn't care who got caught in the crossfire. And I guess that included Bill, but that was John. That's not Dean or Sam." Ana says as she completely ignored what Mia said.
"What about Sam?" Mia asked.
"Well, Sam's, well, he's Sam. 'Cause see, Sam does like you, hell he woulda tried to get with you if the whole thing of Jess didn't happen and she wasn't here. You're more of his type, just sayin'." Ana says. "He kind of thinks you're a schoolgirl, you know?" Ana says to Mia.
"That's real kind Ana, but uh... um, Damon." Mia says as Ana tilts her head a little to the side.
"Oh, right, speaking of how is he? Still a pain in the ass, because I still will kick his ass, just give me the message." Ana says as she knocked Mia out with a beer bottle, which made her unconscious. Ana carefully stroked her hair in a disturbingly tender manner.
───※ ·❆· ※───
A jukebox starts playing, The Doors', 'Crystal Slap'. Nearby Ana is tying Mia in a sitting position to a wide wooden post. She slowly wakes up from being unconscious. "What the hell is going on? What are you doing?" Amelia asked Ana.
"So, what exactly did you and Jo about how your dad died?" Ana asked Mia.
"You're not Ana." Mia says to her friend.
"Don't be so sure about that. Answer the question." Ana says, as Mia says nothing, as Ana sighs heavily, and goes around to the other side, she sits in front of her, leaning in, her expression shifting to one of open concern. She pulls out a large knife and strokes her face with it. "Come on, it's just me. You can tell me anything, you know that. Answer. The question."
"Fine." Mia says to Ana. "My dad and John were in California. The Devil's Gate Reservoir. They were setting a trap for some kind of hellspawn. John was hiding, waiting and my dad was bait." Mia says.
"That's just like Johnny. Oh, I'll bet he dangled Bill like meat on a hook. Then what?" Ana says as she laughs as she gets up and goes around to stand behind Mia.
"This thing showed up. John got too eager, jumped out too soon, got my dad exposed, out in the open. The thing turned around... and killed him." Mia explains to Ana.
Ana is leaning in from behind Mia. "Hmm. Not quite." Ana says.
"What?" Mia asked her friend confused.
"What? Oh. See, it hurt him. It didn't kill him. You really don't know the truth, do you? I bet your mom doesn't either." Ana says, as she sits facing her again, and leans in close.
"Know what?" Mia asked.
"You see, Bill... was all clawed up. Was holding his insides in his hands. He was gurgling, and... praying to see you, Jo, and Ellen one more time. So, John... killed him. Put him out of his misery like a sick dog." Ana says.
"You're lying." Mia says trying to not cry right now.
"I'm not. It's true." Ana says. "Johnny shot your daddy in the head." Ana says in a quiet sing-song voice.
"How do you know that?" Mia says as her eyes brinked with tears.
"I hear things." Ana says as she stands up and stabs the knife into the pillar just above Mia's head level.
"Why are you doing this to me?" Mia asked.
"Like Daddy, like Daughter. You're bait. Open up." Ana says as she shoves a knotted rag in her mouth and ties it around her neck. The door then bursts open and Dean and Sam enter, with their guns out.
"Ana!" Dean calls out to his girlfriend, as a long groan escape from her lips.
Ana grabs the knife from the pillar, her calm expression shifting to one of desperate panic, as she places the knife at Mia's throat. "I begged you to stop me, baby." Ana says sounding more like herself again.
"Put the knife down, damn it." Dean says to his girlfriend.
"I told you I can't fight it! My head feels like it's on fire, alright?! Baby, kill me. Kill me, or I'm going to kill her. Please. You're doing me a favor! Shoot me." Ana says as she turns to Dean with her arms spreaded out. "Shoot me!"
Dean staring with his gun steady and looks at Ana out of the corner of his eye. "No, baby, come on." Dean turns away lowering his gun.
"What the hell's wrong with you, baby? Are you that scared of being alone that you'd rather let Mia die?" Ana asked as Dean turned suddenly, flinging water from a flask at Ana, the water hisses, and steams as it strikes her.
"That's holy water, you demonic son of a bitch!" Dean says as Ana raises her hand, her eyes are solid black of a demon's. Dean flings more holy water at her. Ana growls, turns and runs, bursting through a window and fleeing. Sam takes the knife and cuts Mia free, as Dean runs towards the shattered window.
"She was possessed?!" Mia exclaims to Sam, as he turns to look at her, as he nodded his head.
"Apparently." He says to Mia, before he has a look of slight concern. "Hey, are you okay?" Sam asked her as Mia nodded her head.
"Yeah, but how did she become possessed?" Mia asked as Sam sighs a little as he shrugged his shoulders.
"That's the question I've been asking myself. Did you see any stuff that had seemed off, about her? Any details?" Sam asked her as Mia looked away for a moment before looking at him.
"Uh, she wasn't wearing her rings on her fingers, or um, her locket that Dean gave her. Or any of her jewelry, that she typically wears. But other than that, that's about it." Mia says as Sam nodded his head.
"Yeah." Sam says to her, as he took in Mia's face and body language. "All honesty, are you okay?" Sam asked her as she nodded her head with a small smile.
"Yeah, I'm fine." She says to him, as Sam returned the small smile. "I promise." She says to him.
───※ ·❆· ※───
Dean and Ana, stalk each other through a dim, crowded warehouse, each with a handgun in their hand. During them following each other they never see each other directly, instead hiding stealthily behind piles and boxes and shouting at each other.
"So, who are you?" Dean asked.
"I got lots of names." Ana says.
"You've been in Ana since, she disappeared, haven't you?" Dean asked Ana.
"You shoulda seen your face when you thought she murdered that guy. Pathetic." Ana says.
"Why didn't you kill me? You had a dozen chances." Dean says to Ana.
"Nah, that would have been too easy. Where's the fun in that? You see, this was a test. Wanted to see if I could push you far enough to waste your little girlfriend. Should've known you wouldn't have the sack. Anyway. Fun's over now." Ana says.
"Well, I hope you got your kicks. 'Cause you're gonna pay hell for this, I'm gonna make sure of that." Dean says to Ana.
"How? You can't trust me. Not without hurting your girlfriend." Ana says as Dean is putting his gun away, pulling out the flask of holy water. "See, I think you're gonna die, Dean. You and every other hunter I can find. One look at Ana's Dewey, sensitive, pathetic puppy dog eyes? They'll let me right in their door." Ana says.
Ana gets up, heading outside with Dean following. They are on an open-air dock. Once Dean is out in the open, looking around at the water. Ana steps out, takes aim, and shoots Dean hitting him in the shoulder. Dean is knocked into the water with a splash. Ana stalks to the edge and peers over where Dean fell not seeing Dean in the water, she smiles.
───※ ·❆· ※───
Sam and Mia are walking quickly through the docks, a flashlight in both their hands, and Sam has his phone in his hand, he's calling Dean, and his voice mail picks up. "This is Dean. Leave a message."
Sam hangs up the phone with a sigh of frustration and continues searching with Mia beside him. Moments later he calls again, and this time hears Dean's ringtone coming from below them, by the water. The two of them runs down to where he is lying unconscious at the bottom of a ramp. "Dean! Dean!" Sam says as Dean wakes up with a groan, and coughing, as he is completely wet. "Take it easy." Sam says to his brother as Mia is on the other side of Dean.
"Where's Annie?" Dean shudders and groans in pain.
"I don't know, we've been looking for you. Come on, get up." Mia says as her and Sam helps Dean stand, and he leans into his brother heavily groaning, clutching his shoulder as they walk back to the bar.
───※ ·❆· ※───
Dean is seated at a table, gripping the edge with his right hand as Mia digs the bullet out of his left shoulder, he is groaning loudly. "Don't be a baby!" Mia says as Sam tries not to smile.
"God!" Dean says.
"Almost. Alright, got it. Got it." Mia says as she drops the bloodstained bullet in a glass of clear alcohol. Dean takes a few swigs from a bottle of whiskey.
"God, you're a butcher." Dean says.
"You're welcome." Mia says sarcastically to the oldest Winchester.
"Alright, are we done?" Dean asked.
"Would you give me two minutes to patch you up? You can't help Ana if you're bleeding to death." Mia says as she did have a point. Dean takes another swig as Mia continues layering gauze and tape over the wound. "So, how did you know. That she was possessed."
"Uh, ah, I didn't, I just knew that it couldn't have been him." Dean says, as that's when Sam piped up.
"Did you notice anything different I mean besides her being possessed?" Sam asked his brother as Dean sighs.
"We're not going to talk like she is a suspect, okay? We're not." Dean says to his brother as he took another swig of the whiskey.
"Just answer the question." Sam says to his brother.
Dean looks off to the side thinking, then he looks back up, and at Sam and Mia. "She hasn't worn her jewelry, you know her bracelets, rings and the locket." Dean says to her as Mia and Sam nodded their heads.
"Hey, Dean." Mia says.
"Yeah?" Dean asked.
"I know demons, lie but... do they ever tell the truth too?" Mia asked.
"They do, especially if they know it will mess with your head." Sam says to Mia as she nodded her head. "Why do you ask?" He asked.
"Nothing. Doesn't matter. So, do you have any idea where she's headed next?" Mia asked.
"Well, so far she's been going after the nearest hunter, so... closest one we know lives in South Dakota." Sam says.
"Okay, good. I'm done, let's go." Mia says.
"Yeah." Dean says as he stands up. "You're not coming."
"The hell, I'm not. I'm part of this now. Ana's my best friend." Mia says.
"I can't say it plainer than this. You try to follow us, and I'll tie you right back to that post and leave you there. This is my fight. I'm not getting your blood on my hands. That's just how it's gonna be." Dean says.
"Wait." Mia says as Dean and Sam turn back around, and she tosses Sam a bottle of prescription pill bottle. "Here. Take these, they'll help with the pain."
"Thanks." Dean says, as Sam looks at Mia.
"I'll call you later, after this. I promise." Sam says as she nodded her head as they shared a small smile.
───※ ·❆· ※───
Ana walks slowly up the steps of her dad's house and knocks on the door, and it opens revealing Bobby. "Ana!"
Ana gives her dad a smile. "Hey, daddy."
"It's been a while, sweetheart." Bobby says as Ana smiles sheepishly. "Well, come on in."
Ana enters slowly, glancing at the ceiling, and Bobby shuts the door behind him as they walk into her dad's study, which is dimly lit and covered wall to wall with stacks of books and papers. "So, what brings you?"
"Working on a job nearby, and thought I'd stop in and say hey." Ana says.
"Well, where's Dean? Or Sam?" Bobby asked.
Ana laughs. "Probably either at the motel or at a diner. Sam is probably with Amelia." She says, as Bobby goes into the back room, leaving Ana alone as her eyes are on the ceiling again.
"Oh yeah?" Bobby asked.
Ana's eyes cloud over black for a moment. "Yeah, pretty much." Bobby then returned with a beer in one hand and a whiskey glass in the other. He hands the whiskey to Ana as she doesn't drink beer.
"Well, it's good to see you, sweetheart." Bobby says, as they do a toast and takes swigs of their respective drinks. Ana swallows the whiskey and spews suddenly, choking, and falling to her hands and knees and coughing and gags painfully. Bobby sips his beer, unconcerned.
"What did you do?!" Ana exclaims.
"A little holy water in the whiskey. Ana would never have noticed, but then, you're not Ana are you. Don't try to con a con man." Bobby says as he muttered, 'sorry, Ana' under his breath as it was inaudible as Ana didn't hear it. Bobby slammed his fist into Ana's face which knocked her out.

Ana is tied to a chair, before a fire under the very same protective circle used on Meg a while ago. Dean smacks Ana in the face to wake her up. "Hey." Ana looks up and sees the painted devil's trap. Dean looks up too.
"Dean. Back from the dead. Getting to be a regular thing for you, isn't it? Like a cockroach." Ana says.
"How about I smack that smart ass right out of your mouth?" Dean asked.
"Oh, careful now. Wouldn't want to bruise this tine packaging." Ana says to her boyfriend with a sly smile on her face.
"Oh, don't worry, this isn't gonna hurt Ana much." Dean says as he picks up a bucket. "You, on the other hand..." Dean says as he tosses a bucketful of holy water on Ana, who sizzles and roars. "Feel like talking now?"
"Ana's still my meat puppet. I'll make her bite off her tongue." Ana says.
"No, you won't be in her long enough." Dean says as he didn't glance at Sam who had an exorcism book in his hand. "Sam."
"Exorcisamus te, omnes in mundus spiritus, omnes satanica potestas, omnes, incursio..." Sam says as Dean is talking over Sam.
"See, whatever bitch master plan you demons are cooking up? You're not getting Ana. You understand me? 'Cause, I'm gonna kill every one of you first." Dean says as Ana struggles painfully, then throws back her head and laughs maniacally, which cuts Sam off in surprise.
"You really think that's what this is about? The master plan? I don't give a rats ass about the master plan." Ana says, as Sam is continuing the exorcism.
"Humiliares sub potente magnu dei.." Sam says.
"Oops. Doesn't seem to be working. See, I learned a few new tricks." Ana says as she lowers her head and begins chanting latin. "Spiritus in mundus, un glorum suarum umitite palatum iram, domine..." Ana says as the fire behind her flares and the room starts to shake as she continues.
"This isn't going like I pictured! What's going on, Bobby?" Dean asked.
Bobby sees a burn mark on Ana's forearm, as Ana continues to chant. "It's a binding link! It's a lock! The fucker locked himself inside Ana's body!" Bobby yells over the noises around them.
"What the hell do we do?" Dean asked.
"I don't know!" Bobby says as Ana throws her head back and screams, the walls are shaking and ceilings begins to crack, breaking the protective circle. Ana's eyes are black as she lowers her head.
"There. That's better." Ana says as she jerks her head left, and Bobby goes flying, along with Sam. She jerks her head right, as Dean goes flying landing heavily against the far wall. The holy water flask falls from Dean's hand. Dean flinches in pain from his shoulder. Ana rips free from the restraints and stalks over to Dean. "You know when people want to describe the worst possible thing? They say it's like hell."
Ana kneels in front of Dean, fisting her left hand in Dean's shirt and clocking him hard with a right jab. Dean grabs onto Ana's shirt with his right hand. "You know there's a reason for that. Hell is um..." She says as she hits Dean again. "Well, it's Hell. Even for demons." She says as she hits him again, Dean is groggy and bleeding heavily from the nose. "It's a prison, made of bone and flesh, and blood and fear." Ana says as she hits Dean again, then grabs his head, holding it steady. "And you sent me back there."
"Meg." Dean sneers.
"No, not anymore. Now I'm Ana. Your little, Annie." Ana says as she hits him one more time, then digs her right thumb into Dean's bullet wound. "By the way, I saw your dad there - he says 'howdy." Ana says as she digs further, Dean tries to pull Ana's hand away, groaning in pain. "All that I had to hold on to, was that I would climb out one day, and that I was going to torture you. Nice and slow. Like pulling wings off an insect." Ana says as she shoves Dean's grasping hand away. "But whatever, I do to you, it's nothing compared to what you do to yourself, is it? I can see it in your eyes, Dean. You're worthless, you couldn't save your and deep down... you know that you can't save little Annie. She is better off without you."
Ana rears back to hit Dean again, then Bobby is there, grabbing Ana's arm. He presses a hot poker into the mark on Ana's arm, she screams in pain, then screams again as black demon smoke billows out of her and up the chimney. Dean pulls him up painfully, Ana falls back then comes to herself, scrabbling and looking around in confusion, then grabs her arm in pain.
"Annie?" Dean asked.
"What happened?" Ana says as Dean muttered inaudible words as he rears back and right hooks Ana in the cheek, then collapses. She grabs her cheek in confusion.

Ana is sitting behind Bobby's table with an icepack on her arm, Dean is on the other side of the table groggily holding an icebag to his face. "By the way, you look like crap, baby." Ana says to her boyfriend.
"Yeah, right back atcha." Dean says to Ana, as she takes a swig of the whiskey glass.
Bobby walks in slowly, looking concerned. "What is it, Daddy?" Ana asked.
"You three ever hear of a hunter named Steve Wandell?" Bobby asked.
"Why do you ask?" Dean asked.
"Just heard from a friend. Wandell's dead. Murdered in his own house." Bobby says as Ana swallows as she looks down. "You wouldn't know anything about that."
"No, sir, never heard of the guy." Dean says.
"Dean--" Ana says but she stops herself.
"Good. Keep it that way. Wandell's buddies are looking for someone or something to string up, and they're not going to slow down to listen to reason. You understand what I'm saying?" Bobby asked the three of them.
"We better hit the road. If, uh, you can remember where we parked the car." Dean says.
"Here. Take these." Bobby says as he hands each of them a small metal charm.
"What are they?" Sam asked.
"Charms. They'll fend off possession, That demons still out there. This'll stop it from coming in us." Ana says as Dean nods his head at her. "What? I have a box of these in my room."
"You three of you be careful now." Bobby says.
"You too." Ana says as she smiles at her dad, who looks at her seriously, not returning the smile.
At the door, Dean tosses the icebag back at Bobby, who smiles a little at him and Sam. Ana swipes the whiskey bottle from an end table and takes a swig of it.

Dean is driving down a dark stretch of highway, Sam is asleep in the backseat as Ana is in the passenger seat, Ana has a small frown on her face as Dean glances over at her in concern. "You okay? Baby? Is that you in there?" Dean asked as Ana raised her hand which revealed her rings. She was back in her meat suit without the demon.
"I was awake for some of it, baby. I watched myself kill Wendell with my own two hands; I saw the light go out in his eyes. For fucks sake he babysitted me when I was nine, Dad went out on a hunt in New Mexico, and I stayed with him for two weeks." Ana says as she looked back out the window again.
"That must be awful." Dean says to Ana, as she shook her head at what he said.
"That's not my point. I almost carved up, Mia too. But no matter what I did, you wouldn't shoot." Ana says to her boyfriend.
"It was the right move, Annie. It wasn't you." Dean says to her softly reassuring her.
After a moment Dean starts to laugh softly, as Ana turned her head towards him with slightly furrowed eyebrows. "What?"
"Nothing." Dean says as he covered his hand over his mouth to keep himself from laughing more.
"Baby, what?" Ana asked him as she scooted closer to him so that they were next to each other, he automatically put his arm around her keeping her close, like he always does.
"You -- you like, full-on had a girl inside you for like a whole week." Dean says as Ana shook her head a little as she laughs with Dean. "That's pretty naughty, baby." Dean says as the car continues to drive down the dark and long road.

The three of them got to the motel for the night, as Ana disinfected Dean's shoulder wound again, as he is sitting on their bed as Sam is on the other bed next to them. Ana is in a tank top and a pair of sleep shorts, as Dean had his free arm around her giving her some comfort as she cleaned off his wound for the second time. "Look, I know it wasn't me, but um..." Ana says as Dean shook his head lightly at what she said.
He gave her side a small squeeze at what she said, she slowed down and looked at him, he cupped her cheek with his free hand softly brushing her cheek. "Don't, okay. All that matters is that demon bitch is out of you." Dean says as Ana sighed a little but nodded her head a little at what he said. "And that you are okay, don't worry about me sweetheart. I'm okay, I promise." Dean reassures her as she nodded her head again at what he said.
"I didn't mean to --" Ana says but she got cut off by Dean who kissed her, the kiss was nice and slow and soft.
Let's just say, Dean's shoulder wound was a little forgotten.
