Kou and you walked together in the crowd, hands intertwined with each other's, afraid of losing each other in the crowd. Kou blushing every 5 minutes, trying his best to not make things awkward.

How did this happen? Well, Kou asked you on a date and mind you, it was the first time he's ever asked anyone on a date before so it's pretty much impossible for the atmosphere to not get awkward- but he's trying his best!

It all started when he caught you staring at a poster of the firework festival in the school's hallway, he thought this was the perfect opportunity to ask you on a date and so he did!

"Kou-kun, is something wrong?" You asked, turning you head over to face him. "Your face is quite red, do you have a fever?"

Your hand made their way to his face, gently pressing the back of your hand onto his face trying to feel for his temperature.

Kou just stood there, unable to comprehend what was going on as you continued touching his face in the most gentle manner. Is this heaven? You were like an angel standing right in front of him.

"Kou-kun, your temperature is gradually getting higher as we speak, do you want to find somewhere to sit down and rest?" Your grip on his hand had tightened out of concern.

"S-sure! It's getting kind of hot in this crowd too so, why not!" Kou exclaimed before dragging you through the crowd and onto the nearby bench. The two of you sat in awkward silence, all you could hear were the crowds of people passing by and all Kou could hear was his own heartbeat accelerating every two minutes.

I mean, this was his first date after all and it's with the person he's had a crush on for the past five years! Who wouldn't be extra nervous and anxious?

Taking note of how tense the atmosphere was getting, you'd decided to finally speak up and break the tension between the both of you.

"The festival's pretty great, right, Kou?" You asked, staring into the starry night.

"Huh? Yeah! This festival is amazing, the food here is great and all the games are fun!" Kou exclaimed in a child-like manner. "(Y/N), I actually have something I want to-"

"Kou the fireworks are starting!"

Kou lifted his head to face the sky. The once dark night was now lit with mesmerizing exploding balls of sparks. Looking like someone splashed paint onto the dark night, instantly brightening it up.

Kou glanced at your reaction to the fireworks. Right here, right now, you were the most beautiful person he had ever met. The way you stare up at the fireworks was mesmerizing and intoxicating almost.

Seeing you in a state like this made him want to protect you with all his might and never let another person lay their hands on you.

Something about how the way your eyes sparkled along with the sky, the colors of the fireworks contrasting perfectly with your face. In this moment, you were absolutely breath taking.

This will be the night he'll confess, this will be the night he'll let out the feelings he had kept in for the past five years. It honestly mattered not to him if you end up rejecting him, although it would be a lie if he said he wouldn't feel the least bit of sadness.

The two of you were now walking home together after the wonderful festival had ended.

There was nothing but absolute silence between the both of you, but it wasn't the awkward type of silence, but a rather comforting silence.

Only the sound of the soles of your shoes making contact with the cement could be heard.

Kou knew this was he chance, he had to do this! He can't keep it in any longer and plus, you deserve to know how he has been feeling for the past five years.

"Hey, (Y/N)," Kou finally spoke up, stopping in his tracks and catching your attention.

You turn around to find Kou just standing there, it wasn't the usual hyper active Kou you knew. He seemed more serious than usual, something you don't see quite often.

"Is something wrong, Kou?"

His aura felt extremely intimidating in it's own ways, almost enough to send shivers down your spine.

He gulped before walking towards you and taking your hands in his.

"(Y/N), you're an amazing person, beautiful, intelligent, courageous, you name it!" Kou said, is eyes locked onto yours and the sheepish boyish smile on his face never leaving. "And.. over the past 5 years I've been developing feelings for you and I- uh- (Y/N), I like you!"

What he had just said had completely left you stunned, he likes you? Like, likes likes you??

"K-Kou-" you muttered. That being the only thing you were able to say, still trying to comprehend the situation.

"I-I get it if you don't return my feelings! I know it might just some highschool crush but I just want to tell you that I like you!" His hands were now gripping onto yours tighter, making it seem as though he was grabbing onto you for dear life and was expecting the worse.

"Kou, I like you too.." you whispered, your voice barely audible but he heard you loud and clear. "I always have liked you, the moment we started being friends, all the times we've spent together.. All those times we've spent together made me develop feelings for you, Kou."

Without a second thought, he immediately embraced you, his strong arms wrapped around your small figure, his head resting on your shouler.

"I swear I'll always treasure you.." He snuggled his face into the crook of your neck. "I love you.."

"I love you too, Kou-kun."
