ChApTeR - 13 pt 2

"Adam says breakfast is ready," Abel announced, barging into their bedroom with a bacon strip in his hand. He munched on it, enjoying how great the taste was. "Zadia... Zadia..." Abel called, standing near the edge of the bed, his finger-snapping to get her attention. He wore the mustard-looking Arizona State hoodie that Lynn gifted him, with some baggy gym shorts that Zadia loved to tease him about. "Zadia?"  He called again, worriedly.

Zadia stared up at him in realization, head tilting. "Huh? I'm sorry, what were you saying?" She asked, sitting up in bed, her leg on a pillow. It was morning, but she wasn't in her usual morning mood. Instead, she was tired because she hadn't slept last night.

Abel frowned, instantly noticing her weird behavior. He crossed his arms, but not before taking another bite of his bacon, finishing it. "What's wrong? Is it your ankle?" He questioned, chewing. "Listen, I know you don't wanna take painkillers anymore, but you can most definitely take other stuff."

Zadia shook her head. She seemed calm despite her actions from last night. "No, it's not my ankle." Although it did hurt. "I just... I don't feel like getting out of bed today. Head hurts." She came up with.

Abel seemed unconvinced. He tapped his foot. "Okay... but you're gonna miss out on Adam's pancakes." He paused, waiting for her reaction. Zadia only sighed. "You know what, I'll just bring it up to your room." Looking over at Tino's empty crib, then back at her, he uncrossed his arm. "You sure you're okay?"

"Yeah."

"You don't seem like it." He said, then pushed her leg so he could sit next to her. "Come on Zee, what's got you so down?"

She looked down at her hands. "I'm a mess." She mumbled.

Abel frowned, shaking his head. "That's not true, Zadia. Where's all this coming from?"

She looked up at him. "I... I kissed Roman." She told him and then groaned, slamming her body on the bed. Abel placed a hand on his face, hiding his smile. "That's not even the worst part, the worst part is... I think I liked it, Abel. I really liked it." Abel burst into fits of laughter, which caused Zadia to roll her eyes. She pinched his arm lightly. "I'm serious, Abel."

"I know you are." He said, trying not to laugh. "It's just, I've never seen you display this type of emotion. This is new."

"What am I gonna do?" She genuinely asked him.

He shrugged. "I don't know, I didn't kiss him." He joked and she glared at him. "What was his reaction?" He leaned back, both their heads touched while they looked up at the ceiling. "Did he kiss you back?"

Zadia's fingertips grazed her lips and she sighed deeply. "Yeah, he did." She said remembering the tingling she felt there. "Then he pulled away and said that he couldn't. That it was selfish of him or something like that. It was awkward."

"Damn, so you got rejected, rejected."

She gave him a look and sighed again. "Yeah, I got rejected, rejected." She turned her head. "I don't blame him though, I shouldn't have kissed him in the first place. That was wrong of me."

"Yeah... but you did it and now you've gotta just rip the bandage off and deal with it. Hiding in here and avoiding him isn't gonna make the fact that you kissed him go away." He annoyingly poked her cheek. "Knowing how stubborn the two of you are, it's obvious that you both aren't gonna talk about it. So I say, don't let it stress you out. Unless..."

Her eyebrows raised. "Unless, what?"

"Unless you stop being stubborn and be the first to talk about it." He shrugged. "Who knows, he might unreject you."

"That's not a word, Abel."

Abel flashed her a million-dollar smile. "It is now." He poked her face again and she smacked his hand. "Hey, was that the reason why you were sneaking out of the room at five in the morning?"

"I forgot my toothbrush in his bathroom, and decided to get it while he was asleep."

His eyebrows raised. "Was he asleep?"

"It looked like it, I don't know. All I know is that I needed to get my toothbrush, I didn't pay attention to anything else." She sat up. "Promise you won't tell the others about this."

"Not even Adam?"

Zadia groaned. "Especially not Adam."

Abel nodded, disappointedly. "Fine. Cross my heart and hope to die." He promised.

"Abel." She warned, hating when he said that.

He groaned. "Okay, okay, I promise Zadia."

From downstairs, Roman impatiently drummed his fingers on the counter as he stood in front of the coffee machine, waiting for his coffee to finish. He blinked and ran a hand over his head, his eyes shut for a second. "Who's been using this? I told everyone it was off-limits." He said, then hit the machine, trying to speed up the process. "Now it's broken."

"It's not broken, I made yesterday's coffee with it and it worked just fine. No one but the two of us uses it." Adam said, serving the plates filled with breakfast on the table. "If you'd stop hitting it, I'm sure it'll work just fine."

"It's not working, Adam."

"Patience, Roman," Adam remarked, barely bothered by his attitude this morning. He was used to it.

"What the hell is with you, today?" Lynn asked, with Tino on her lap, banging on the table. The plates chattered and the table shook, while he babbled to himself. "You're moodier than usual, you've got the baby acting out."

"Didn't get any sleep last night," Roman grumbled, pouring himself a steamy cup of coffee. It was all Zadia's fault and her sneaking into his room to retrieve her toothbrush later in the night didn't help the matter.

Lynn's eyes darted to Adam, who quickly turned away. Her eyebrows rose suspiciously. "Okay... isn't that usual for you?"

Roman looked down at his cup. "It is, but." He stopped himself.

"But what?" Lynn pressed.

"I've just... got a lot on my mind." He said, after a while.

"I wonder why." They heard Adam mumble from across the room. Four pairs of eyes snapped his way instantly. "I... I mean, that sucks to hear." He stuttered, then looked around. "Where the heck is Zadia and Abel?"

Roman cleared his throat at the sound of Zadia's name. "I should get going, don't want to be late for this new target, the payout is big for this one."

"Head out?" Both Adam and Lynn said at the same time. "Today is inspection day, remember. The organization is sending in the sweepers, I told you this already." Lynn passed Adam the baby. "No one can be home while they're here, you know that."

Roman pressed the bridge of his nose and groaned. He forgot about inspection day. "Shit, can't we reschedule?"

"We've rescheduled twice already, if we prolong this any further the organization will suspect that there's something wrong." Said Adam. He strapped Tino into his high chair and placed a bowl of fresh applesauce in front of him. He placed a spoon in Tino's hand, helping him eat it.

"How long till they move us after this?"

The organization liked to keep its safe houses free of breaches. So, they'd assigned their people a house, and a few weeks before they'd switched houses they'd send in sweepers. The sweepers checked for any breaches, and for any devices that were put in the home while it was of use. "Three weeks and we are placed only God knows where," Lynn said, then stood up.

Roman glanced at her, taking in her appearance. She had on dark makeup and an oatmeal sweater on, along with a black leather thigh skirt and boots. "It's your turn to meet with folks at the museum, isn't it?"

She nodded. "Yup, and I can only take one person so it won't draw any attention, and because I'm dropping off Adam as well." Just as she said that both Abel and Zadia came walking into the kitchen. Zadia wore a gray hoodie and jean shorts, one slipper on her functioning foot. "I choose the kid."

Abel frowned, pointing at himself. "Choose me for what exactly now?"

"You guys are being split up for today," Adam explained. "Don't worry, you'll be back before tonight."

Zadia pressed her eyes shut, not liking the sound of this already. She clenched her crutches, nervously steering clear of Roman's gaze. "I'll go with Adam then." She volunteered.

Adam gave her an apologetic smile. "As much as I'd love to hang out with you today, love. I've got to get on the train to meet with the people who call the shots around here. It's a two-day trip."

"Fuck!" Zadia mentally cursed. This meant she was stuck with Roman. Just her fucking luck. "Maybe another time then." She said, sitting at her usual spot at the table, her crutches on the ground. Abel sat beside her, digging into his plate like he'd never eaten before.

Roman took a sip of his coffee, annoyed by the whole ordeal. "I can't take them both to a target execution. It's a big risk and something could go wrong." He explained to Lynn, coming up with an excuse.

"Something could go wrong?" Lynn repeated, then scoffed. "Since when has anything gone wrong during a target execution?" She asked him. "If I take both Santino and his babysitter."'Lynn referred to Zadia. "Then that would raise attention. I'm better off with just taking Abel. Besides, they're only gonna stay in your car."

Roman bit the inside of his cheeks, seeing her point. There was no avoiding what happened last night. "Okay. Are they coming at their usual time?" He questioned and Lynn nodded. He looked down at his watch. "Alright, then that means everyone is out of here in thirty minutes." Placing his cup into the sink, he backed away. "I'll go get Tino's bag ready."

As he walked out of the kitchen, Lynn clasped her hands together. "He's gonna be a pain in the ass all day today." She grumbled. "Abel." She started. "Since you're rolling with me today, you get to see how money is made."

Abel's eyebrows furrowed, taking another bite of his pancake. "I already know how money is made though."

"No, you know how money is made by regular people. Today, you'll see how the rich make their money."

"Boring," Zadia said, using a cough to disguise it. Both Abel and Adam chuckled.

Lynn looked at her, eyes squinting. "Only broke people would consider it boring." She replied, tauntingly.

Zadia shrugged, while she chewed on her scrambled eggs. "At least you're finally realizing that I'm broke."

Lynn rolled her eyes. "Anyways, Abel. It will be fun, I can guarantee you that. It will beat staying in a car most of the day babysitting."

"I'd rather that than to be on a train." Adam grimaced. "It's so dirty and everyone almost always has an attitude." He shook his head. "Don't even get me started on how uncomfortable the seats are or how I have to bring Binx along."

"Wouldn't it make more sense for us to take Binx?" Zadia asked him.

He shook his head. "She doesn't like traveling and I'm the one that usually gets her to stop being anxious."

"I thought she was Roman's cat?" Abel interjected.

"She is, she just likes me more." He answered with a shrug. Taking away Santino's bowl, he placed it in the sink and took a wipe to wipe his face.

Lynn looked at the time on her watch and leaned off the fridge door. "Abel, Adam, we've gotta run. I've gotta get disguises on our way to the museum."

Abel licked his finger and stood up to put his plate in the sink. "Alright, I'm out of here. Be safe guys." He said, dapping up Zadia. "Remember, don't stress it." He whispered in her ear and backed away to place a kiss on Tino's head. Following Lynn out of the kitchen, they left.

Adam handed Tino over to Zadia, before picking up the portable cage that Binx was in. "That's my cue to go. Roman's in a mood today, but don't mind him." He started to walk away but stopped. "Oh and Zadia."

"Hmm?" She hummed, her head snapping to where he was. Tino was trying to grab her pancake and as she moved him away, for a second she doubted her strength because that's how strong he was.

"Roman tends to make up excuses for not going after the things he wants. It's one of the few things I can't figure out why he does." He smiled at her. "Don't let it discourage you."

Zadia looked at him confused. "Umm... okay." Adam gave her one last glance before walking away, leaving Zadia and Tino to themselves. "I swear everyone who lives here gets weirder by the day." She said to Tino and then leaned forward. "Don't let them rub off on you." She picked him up, holding him high. "Just continue being my perfect little teddy bear. You hear that" She brought him down, kissing his nose. "You're perfect." Tino smiled at her, his eyes filling up with excitement. "Look at you." Zadia gushed.

Roman appeared from behind them, clearing his throat. Tino's bag was around his arm, an unreadable expression on his face. "Are you ready to go?" He questioned her, his voice low and rough.

She nodded as she slowly turned around. "Mmh." She mumbled, allowing him to take Tino out of her hands. Slowly, she reached below her chair, grabbing her crutches. When she stood, she was faced with Roman's back. It was clear to her that he was avoiding eye contact, so she cast her eyes on anything that wasn't him.

Zadia followed behind him silently, while he made sure that both the front and back doors were locked before they made their way to the garage. Zadia eyed the new black jeep, wondering when he had gotten a new one. Her hand wrapped around the passenger door and before she could open it, Roman stopped her. "Ride in the back." He instructed, buckling Tino into his car seat.

Nibbling on her bottom lip, Zadia huffed but still moved to the backseat without objecting. She wasn't going to waste her breath on him and sitting in the backseat only made her closer to Tino, so it wasn't a problem. As she settled into the car and shut her door, she could smell his cologne.

Zadia put her hoodie over her head and pushed her crutches to the other side, to make more room for her leg. Roman moved over and locked the garage door before he got inside and started his car. Slowly, he began backing out of the garage, his radio playing music.

Looking out the tinted window, Zadia bit her lips. This was going to be one long and awkward ride.

_____________

Roman's car came to an abrupt stop, about 49 miles out of town. He rolled his window down, letting the cool air breeze against his skin. He spotted the Florence city sign thirty minutes prior, which prompted him to take a break. One was sorely needed since his leg was starting to cramp and he had many miles to go before reaching his destination.

The sound of his nephew's laughter took him out of his thoughts as he unbuckled himself, looking straight ahead at the park in front of them. There weren't many children there, or parents. Everything and everyone seemed caught up in their moment, enjoying the foggy weather.

"Your little feet stink." Zadia cooed in the backseat, tickling Tino's leg. Tino smiled widely, giggling at her comment.

"We're taking a break," Roman said, randomly and Zadia flinched at the sound of his voice. He'd been so quiet, that she honestly for a second forgot that he was also in the car with Tino and her. Roman frowned at her, confused by her reaction. Instead of saying anything though, he opened the glove compartment and grabbed some dark shades that he kept around for occasions like this. "Here, put this on." He instructed, then rolled up his window, taking his keys out of the ignition.

Zadia gulped as their hands nearly touched while he handed her the glasses. She put them on and smiled at Tino, her hands freeing him from the shackles of his car seat.

Roman opened the door and stepped out. Instinctively he checked for his gun on his waist and scanned the park again, making sure to see anything out of the ordinary. Walking over to Zadia's side, he opened her door trying his best not to keep his eyes on her for long. "We won't stay long." He said. "Keep your head down and don't bring any attention to yourself."

Zadia snorted, interrupting him, pointing at her leg and crutches. "I think it's a little too late for that."

He rolled his eyes. "I mean, don't say or do anything that will get people to recognize you from the news." He explained. "Like I said, head down and mouth shut. There's a bathroom on the other side of the park if you need to pee." He'd been paying attention to the way she clenched her thighs while he drove. He figured her blather needed to be emptied. "You think you can manage that on your own while I get Tino into one of those swings."

She nodded. "I can." She grabbed her crutches from the other side and used them to get out of the car. Peeing on her own was getting better and she didn't have to depend much on others to do it. She looked back and forth at the park, somewhat nervous. Being in an open space like this was a bit nerve-wracking. At any given point, anyone could recognize her, which she hoped didn't happen.

Walking further and further away from both Tino and Roman, she kept a calm demeanor, eyes staring at the freshly cut green grass and newly added mulch around the huge trees. Stepping in front of the bathroom door, she glanced back, checking to make sure Roman hadn't left her. Of course, she knew that he wouldn't do it, but she wasn't so sure at times.

Roman caught her gaze while he shut and locked the doors to the car. Although his shades were covering her eyes, he could read the look on her face. Sending her a reassuring nod, he turned around with a happy Tino in his arm and walked in the direction of the playground. His footsteps were light, face emotionless while he glanced around again. Stepping in front of an empty swing, he set Tino down and made sure he was secure.

When ready, he began to push lightly, letting Tino get used to the sudden movement. "I got you," Roman mumbled, pushing a little more. The sound of Tino's laughter egged him on. Roman smirked, remembering the time he helped build a swing set with his mentor, Azul.

It had taken them the entire day to get it done and once it was finished, little Roman didn't want to go back inside because he wanted to stay on the swing. He'd take turns pushing both his younger siblings, remembering how their laughter was so contagious.

Roman took a deep breath and his lips curled into his mouth.

He loved when he remembered those moments with his family and also hated it at the same time. Nothing was what it seemed and it was beginning to get hard for him to determine what was real and fake in his childhood. The older he got, the hazier his childhood memory became. He of course remembered the pain and trauma, they hunted him every chance they got, whether in a dream or a flashback. It was the good memories that he was always unsure about.

He of course would never disclose this information to anyone.

He didn't want anyone in his business and sharing something like that with someone felt intimate.

Roman didn't do intimate.

"Mama," Tino called when Zadia was near.

She inched towards them and smiled at the scene before her. Tino looked happy like he usually did, and Roman.... well Roman looked like he was in a daze. She decided to lean against one of the polls to the left of them, her crutches in hand as she looked over Roman again. "You okay?" Zadia questioned, curious as to how'd he answer.

"I don't know," Roman replied after a while, he pushed the swing as it got back to him.

"Any way I can help?"

His eyes fell on her before they averted back to Tino. "I think you've done enough." He nearly snapped.

Zadia rolled her eyes, lifting a hand in the air. "You know all those times when you say I'm acting like a child, well I think the same thing could be said about you right now."

He scoffed. "Really, and how's that?"

"Well for starters, you're acting like I gave you cooties or something. You won't look at me and you've barely said anything to me today."

Roman sighed heavily. "You sound so damn needy right now, Zadia. You do know you're not the center of the universe right? Stop looking for fucking reassurance from me."

She sucked her teeth, looking around. "Cursing at a playground? Real original Roman." She said sarcastically. "And reassurance? That's definitely something I don't need from you of all people."

He instantly stopped pushing the swing and gripped it so it wouldn't go anywhere. Glaring at Zadia, he pointed a finger in her direction. "That's just it, Zadia. You, like most people, want something from me and even if it's not reassurance, there's still something you want from me."

Zadia groaned, agitated by his attitude. "Do you hear yourself right now? I don't want anything from you Roman." Her voice was low, and she was calm unlike him who's jaw kept twitching.

"Then why'd you kiss me?" He asked, staring at her. The question shocked them both. Zadia gulped, her lips remained shut as Roman took Tino out of the swing. He walked towards her, stopping just inches away. "Exactly." When he saw that she wasn't going to say anything, he placed Tino on his hip. "What? No comebacks?" He waited a while for her to say something, anything at all, but as she stood there in front of him frozen, he backed away, quick to turn his back on her.

Roman didn't get the chance to walk away, because he paused once something cold gripped his wide wrist.

His eyes looked down, finding that it was Zadia's hand that stopped him. "You kissed me back." She bravely reminded him, as he stared back at her. "Therefore by your logic, you want something from me too." She air quoted, dropping his wrist. The annoyed look on his face was enough to make her crack a smile. "What? No comeback?" She mimicked him.

Roman shifted Tino on his hips, his whole mood once again changing because of Zadia. Her smug expression annoyed him to the core. Roman bit his tongue, contemplating what to do.

"You liked it too," Zadia said in realization. "That's why you've had an attitude all today, you're mad that you liked it and you don't know how to cope with that. "

"Shut up, Zadia." He muttered.

"Make me." She shot back, daringly. Her eyes widened, when Roman's hand grabbed ahold of the side of her face and he moved closer, his head bending, lips finally pressing against hers again. Roman's heart thrummed in his chest, as he kissed her painfully slowly yet passionately. Breathing deeply, they could taste their shared breath, and Zadia groaned at the intensity of it all.

Tino who was squished in between them wiggled around and tapped on their shoulders to make his presence known.

In response to this, Roman tugged at Zadia's lower lip with his teeth, leaving her breathless as he pulled away. He glanced around, uncomfortable by the prying gaze of others. "We should go." He told Zadia, walking in the direction of the car without sparing her a second glance.

Zadia huffed, looking to the sky in thought. Her mind was in a daze because of their short kiss. "What the fuck are you getting yourself into Zadia?" She questioned herself, quietly walking back to the car.

______________

Zadia's eyes opened to Roman's jeep pulling into a parking lot, with plenty of fancy cars. She rubbed her eyes, sitting up in her seat to see the lavish condos across from them. From the looks of it, the folks who lived here were as rich as her parents. "Where are we?" She asked while Roman parked in the back, away from other cars.

"Nogales," Roman spoke, putting a green sign with the number nine on his windshield. "We're gonna be here for a while."

Zadia looked ahead, watching people enter and leave the parking lot. "The guy you're killing is rich." She stated. Her eyes lingered on the group of friends that looked to be around her age that walked past the car. She couldn't help but wonder what it would be like if she had actual friends. "What'd he do?" She asked, looking away. Her fingers traced the palm of Tino's limp hand and he stirred in his sleep, his chest rising and falling.

"It's not what he did, it's what he didn't do," Roman explained.

Zadia placed a blanket over Tino. "Well, what did he not do?"

"Can't tell you that." He told her. "But, you already know that."

"You always keep your work stuff to yourself."

"Hence, why they call it professionalism." He remarked, snidely. Looking ahead, he picked up a paper bag from the passenger seat and held it up towards the backseat. "Here, there's some snacks and stuff in there."

Zadia took the bag, but not before mumbling, "Thanks." She looked through it and smiled at the veggie sandwich. It had been a while since she had one. Her smile widened as she saw the sugar-free ice tea bottle and mint gum.
Months ago Zadia had told him that she secretly craved having the two products around. "It just goes together." She defended. "Just like how orange juice and toothpaste does." Roman in return had given her a long speech about how she was repulsive and should never tell him something like that ever again.

"Here." He said, shaking another bag around to get her attention. He hated how easily distracted she got.

Zadia took the second bag from him, eyeing the notebook. She looked at the back of his head confused. "It's a notebook." She stated, holding it.

"Yeah... so you can sketch... or whatever you usually do." He scratched the back of his neck. "To pass time by..."

"Oh... okay."

He looked at her through his rearview mirror, noticing the look on her face. "What? It's not big enough? It's the only thing they had."

She shook her head. "No, no, it's fine. It's just I haven't sketched anything since... back home." She opened the notebook, flipping through the naked pages. "I could never find the right muse and eventually I lost my touch."

"You said art is your passion, right? And from seeing those paintings of yours in my storage unit, it's hard to believe you've lost your touch. Let Santino be your muse or something." He suggested.

Zadia looked over at Tino, then the notebook. Tino did make the perfect muse, but not for her at this moment. "When it comes down to muses, I need something that's gonna drive me insane to the point where I know I can't make it perfect." She bit her lips. "That doesn't make any sense, I know... but that's just what my muse needs to be."

"I get it." He commented, voice distance.

Zadia knew that it was only a matter of time before he stopped talking and they fell into another awkward silence. So she leaned forward, grabbing a pen from his cup holder. "Roman?"

"Hmm?" He hummed in response.

"Are we gonna talk about what happened?" She finally asked, waiting for his response.

"Zadia..."

She didn't let him finish. "I think we should... because if we don't then it's just gonna get awkward. Well, more awkward than this. I don't know about you, but I get anxious in awkward situations." She rambled. "Are you gonna say anything?"

"Stop rambling," he said. It was the only thing he could think to say at that moment. Roman was caught off guard, not expecting her to bring up the kiss. He'd spent his entire day reliving the entire thing and just as he was finally forgetting about it, she brought it up again, causing his mind to go wild.

"Oh." Said Zadia. She looked out the window, watching people park. "My fault."

It got quiet.

Roman glanced over at her and bit his tongue. "I..." he sighed, chest heavy. "I don't know what to say, Zadia." He admitted. "What do you want me to say?" His voice cracked like he was in pain and Zadia noticed. She was a headache, one that was painfully hard to get rid of, and as crazy as it sounded, Roman didn't know whether or not he wanted to get rid of this particular headache.

"Just," She breathed. "say what's on your mind."

"On my mind?" He repeated lowly. "What's on my mind right now is a bunch of fucking red flags. I'm questioning myself and wondering what in your right mind thought it was okay for you to even... kiss me." He told her. "Or better yet, why did I even kiss you back."

"I think it's pretty obvious."

He cleared his throat, nervously. "Whatever the fact of the matter is Zadia... it can't happen again... no matter how you and I may feel about it. It's too complicated and I... I can't give you anything besides your freedom. That's it. This is my life." He explained. "Driving from one place to the other to kill someone and then going back home like nothing's ever happened. I don't have time... I'm not stable, and I'm not a good person."

"You are a good person."

"I'm not though." He replied. "There's a lot of shit that I've done that would make you sick to your stomach if you've ever heard about them. Trust me, I'm not what you want." He looked at her through the mirror.

"Roman." She began to say, but he cut her off.

"I— Just move past it. Can we do that?"

Zadia swallowed, her throat dry. "Yeah, of course." She chuckled nervously. "Definitely, it's no biggie. It was just a kiss, people kiss all the time and it doesn't mean a thing. I mean, I've kissed lots of people. Family members, the older folks at my parent's church, hell I've even kissed a turtle before." She pinched her forearm, embarrassed by her rambling. "You were not supposed to know that." She whispered.

Roman scrolled through his phone, reading an incoming message. "Umm... Okay." He muttered, picking up his duffel bag that was filled with his equipment. Their eyes fell on each other for a quick second. "I'll be back, you stay here." He told her, getting out of the car before the awkwardness could eat him alive.

As he stepped away, the car doors locked automatically.

"Where would I even go?" Zadia asked out loud, talking to herself. "It's not like I can walk down the street without anyone noticing my face." She gripped the notebook in her hand, her pen already etching the first thing that came to mind. For the first time in years, she'd found her muse and it just so happened to leave her disappointed.
