Chapter 8: Lance

I was sitting and reading a book as Valentine was in her first ballet class. I glanced away from my book and looked over to the glass that was displayed to see the kids dance. I couldn't help, but stare at Keith as he worked with younger students.

His mullet was pulled up into a small ponytail that made his face more define. I put my chin on the palm of my hand as my eyes went up and down his body. "Dios mío," I muttered. One of the moms turned towards me. "Ya checking out the ballet teacher?" She asked.

I froze. "I-i. Umm... Yes... I mean. No.'" I tried getting out a response, but I stuttered intesly. The woman raised a brow. "Honey, it's quiet obvious. And creepy. You don't even have a kid, I bet." She snorted.

My blood boiled. "Excuse me. I do have a kid in there, in fact." I retorted. The woman glared at me. "I honestly doubt it." My patience was being tested. How dare this woman insult me. I was about to respond when the doors opened and Keith came out with Valentine in front of him, a satisfied look on both of their faces.

"Mr. McClain." Keith formally said, walking up to me. The woman recoiled and shifted away from me. I fought a satisfied smirk. Yeah. Take that bitch.

"Please. We both know that you can call me Lance. And I can call you Keith." I replied with a purr.

His face flushed. "Right." He nodded. "Anyways. I just came to tell you that your daughter is doing absolutely splendid."

I grinned. "Why thank you! But all the credit better go to her." I say, ruffling her hair. Vale smiled and giggled. "Mr. Keith, when's your last class?" She asked, grinning mischievously.

Keith looked down at her. "Oh. You were my last class." He replied. Vale clapped her hands. "Great! You can come join us for dinner. Can't he, papá?" She asked. Oh. God. Not the puppy eyes. Shit.

I laughed nervously. "Of course he can come over for dinner. But you and your sister are staying over at Hunk's tonight." I respond. Vale nodded enthusiasticly. "Exactly! And mommy is busy tonight, remember! She isn't coming home until tomorrow morning! You don't need to eat alone."

"I'll be fine-" I was cut off by Rebecca, who came out of nowhere. "But Vale is right." She giggled softly. I cursed. I can't believe my daughter and crazy best friend were going up against me. Well, I'm not too surprised.  Women are difficult and Vale has an attitude. Keith stood there awkwardly looking conflicted.

"I wouldn't mind, I mean... Shiro and Matt are going out tonight and Alexander is staying with Colleen and Samuel. I can come over for dinner." Keith cut in, smiling uncertainly.

Valentine and Rebecca grinned at each other. "Perfect! You know. Keith how about you go home with Lance and Valentine and Robin can spend the day with me until I drop them off at Hunk's when it's time. Mkay. Bye Lancey! Te quero!" Rebecca squealed, scooping Vale up in her arms and running to Robin, grabbing her wrist and dragging them out of the studio, the teenager spluttering out confused words as she tried to slip on a jacket.

I sat there in silence, not knowing how to process the situation. "Well... Uh. I guess I'm going with you." Keith chuckled, breaking the silence. I cracked a smile, laughing softly. "I'm so sorry about them. I can eat dinner on my own." I apologised, scratching the back of my head.

(("Idiot." Said a woman under her breath.))

Keith shook his head. "No, no. It's fine. Uh. It's at your house, right?" He asked. I nodded. "Yes. It is." I replied.

Keith nodded. "Ok. I'll go change and come back in a sec for us to leave. I'm coming with you afterall." He said, a small smile on his lip as he walked back into the dance room and heading to the Men's bathroom.

A woman giggled as she plopped down in the seat next to me. "Good luck on wooing Mr. Hot Ballet Teacher." She said. I glance at her. "Why don't you go for him then?" He questioned. She sighed. "Ah. I would, but men aren't my type." She grinned. "I'm Romelle, by the way." She then got up, patting me on my back before walking back over to another woman... Allura? Romelle kissed her cheek then pecked her lip before the two walked out, hand in hand.

Keith came back out with jeans and a loose t-shirt. He walked back over to me, a small smiled brightening his face. "Umm. I'm ready to go." He chuckled softly, rubbing the back of his head. I grinned, standing back up. "Perfect. Come on now. Let's get to my house." He nodded, following me out the door and towards my car.

He got in the passenger seat, shifting slightly before relaxing and sinking down in it. I turned the keys and winced and blushed in embarrassment as Shakira's 'Hips Don't Lie' continued to blast at full volume.

Keith flinched at the sudden loud music, but then turned to me with an amused smile and eye brow raise.

"What? I love this song." I huffed as I danced in my seat, singing along with the pretty voice.

Keith shook his head and let out a laugh, "Only you, Lance." He gently shoved my shoulder.

I let out a snort, my cheeks heating up slightly as he made contact with me. It wasn't exactly skin to skin, but it still made butterflies flutter in my stomach.

"Any special dinner requests?" I asked him, a grin wide on my face at the thought of cooking for this gorgeous man.

Keith shrugged, pushing back his bangs. "Honestly, I'm fine with anything. But some chicken and rice?" He tried awkwardly.

I smiled at him. "Perfect." I hummed, letting the music occupy the silence in the car as I drove to my house.

I let myself quietly mouth the words the songs that popped up, occasionally nodding my head or shimmying my shoulders to the beat of the music.

Keith would glance over at me with a small smile and sigh in amusement at my movements. He mumbled something, cheeks flaring slightly.

I tilted my head. "What was that?" I asked, practically shouting over Beyonce singing her hit song "Halo".

Keith let out an embarrassed chuckle, before saying, "That's cute. What you do when you really like a song."

It left me flabbergasted. I know my face was probably tinted pink by now. "Oh? And what do I do?" I try to say in a slightly flirtatious tone, but it honestly comes out sounding much more nervous than I intended.

"You just.. light up, I guess. And it's like you're trying to dance in your seat. It's cute. You're cute." Keith stumbled out his words, anxiously scratching the back of his neck.

I let out a laugh. "Thank you." I breathed out. "You're pretty cute too." I kept my eyes on the road, but I squeezed the wheel to calm my rapidly beating heart.

Just a few short seconds after, I drove up the drive way. My eyes flashed as I realized that Nyma's car was also parked into the garage as I opened it.

Suddenly, my heart sank and the world began to feel warmer. I probably looked a bit offputting, because Keith put his hand on my shoulder, his gaze fierce and concentrated.

"Are you okay?" He asked, ever so slightly, hand moving to play with the hair falling at the nape of my neck.

"Yeah." My voices cracked harshly and I winced at the sound. "Well, no. My wife is home."

Keith's demeanor dropped. "Oh." He said curtly. "Do you want me to go home?" He offered.

I jumped slightly, startled at his suggestion. "Oh gods, no. I promised you some dinner. Nyma is probably too busy anyways." I insist, taking the key out of the ignition and unbuckling my seatbelt, determined to make this a wonderful evening.

Keith was a bit hesitant, but he followed anyways, getting out of the car slowly before slamming the door shut.

We both shuffled inside, where Nyma was seated at the bar with a man in the seat next to her and papers in front of her. She perked up at our arrival.

"Lance." She said my name in an uncharacteristically soft voice. I dont think she even noticed Keith's presence until a few seconds later.

"Who is this?" Nyma brushed her soft blonde hair behind her ear and studied Keith her her sharp blue eyes.

Keith looked as if he felt uncomfortable under her gaze. "I'm Keith Kogane." He waved at her, slightly confused.

Nyma just nodded, quickly looking away from us. "This will be quick." She assured. "Hopefully."

Keith glanced at all of us, before curiously walking out of the room. "I'll lend you some privacy." He muttered, just loud enough for everyone to hear.

That's when I finally got a good look at the man next to Nyma. He had platinum blonde hair with purple streaks in in. He was tall, but lanky and slouched down. I couldn't get a good look at his eyes, but I could tell that they're a striking color of hazel.

Nyma pulled my attention away from him by sliding the papers in front of my line of vision.

I slowly walked to the counter, glancing down. When I realized what they were, my blood went cold.

They were divorce papers.
