Acceptance
"Hyeri-ah."
Hyejoo called out to the panda whose eyes are focused towards the dancing Jinsoul. The older heaved a deep sigh as she watched Hyeri admire another girl that should be her.
The younger Hye hummed as a response, still not diverting her attention away from Jinsoul. "Look at me...please," Hyejoo spoke, more like a whisper.
Hyeri being an obedient child she is, turned her head towards Hyejoo as they locked eyes. Smiling like an idiot, Hyeri asked, "Yeah? Is there something wrong, eonni?"
That smile made the wolf smile back, it was too irresistible. Unfortunately her grin changed into a frown in no time realizing that her smiles weren't the cause of her.
Oh how Hyejoo wanted to ask why did they kept it a secret. The sudden news made her mind unable to process anything the day Hyunjin accidentally slipped the truth out.
She wanted to ask Hyeri personally about it, but yet again her courage would suddenly fade away when she'll finally have the chance. And today was no different.
Keeping the truth away would somehow still make her unbothered and happy, but she knew it wouldn't last long. Reality will eventually come to her and it would hit her hard.
But we do unusual things for temporary happiness, right? That's what Hyejoo was planning to do.
"Nothing," Hyejoo sheepishly smiled.
Hyeri pouted as she squinted her eyes in annoyance, "Still haven't quitted making me curious over unsaid things, huh?" She laughed, playfully punching Hyejoo by the shoulder.
The older Hye didn't said anything but laughed along with her. Hyeri soon watched Jinsoul once again after their short laughing session.
It was a painful sight. Out of all the people in this room, it has to be her two best friends making her feel left out. Just because they're lovers? That wasn't enough reason for Hyejoo to buy.
"It sucks, doesn't it?"
Hyejoo almost flinched at the voice, turning to her side to see it was Jungeun who was smiling cheekily.
The younger girl only shook her head, sighing as she watched the others' dancing again. Jungeun laughed on how Hyejoo responded, "Mask it all away, Son Hyejoo, but you know those kind of things don't work on me. I know you all too well, missy."
Hyejoo didn't replied but she was listening to whatever Jungeun was going to say.
"It sucks liking someone you can't have. Seeing them everyday, but knowing that they'll never be yours," the older started.
"It's the worst feeling, 'cause all you can do is dream about and wish for them, but never have them."
Hyejoo finally turned her head back to the side again to see Jungeun staring at Jinsoul with a smile, a sad one. It made the younger girl tilt her head in confusion but later on understood everything.
They both liked the people who are currently together.
But who are they to intervene with their relationship? It would be pretty rude to ruin their love and so dreaming could be the only thing for them to make their wishes come true.
"How ironic that I kept showing it in front of her I liked Hyeri just to catch her attention. She is really dumb," Jungeun shook her head as she laughed. Hyejoo only looked at her, knowing what it actually feels like.
And also at first thought that Jungeun did liked Hyeri, but now that she got to hear what she just said, it was all clear to her now.
The older girl took a glimpse of Jinsoul once again, "But she's happy. And by just seeing her smiling makes me happy, too. I'm glad Hyeri makes her smile like that, it was true happiness and I haven't seen that in her eyes for a while." Then she stood up from the floor as she gave Hyejoo a warm smile.
"Acceptance hurts, I admit. But accepting the reality is a first step to recovery. You're broken, Hyejoo. They're happy together now and we just got to support them, it's the least we could do...
"It takes time to move on and you might even hesitate but... it's for the sake of your own happiness, too, Hyejoo-yah."
Jungeun then stepped out the dance studio, leaving Hyejoo with her words. Looking at Hyeri once again she saw how her eyes were going crescent due to bliss.
If only she was the one who was making her smile like that.
Yeah, she's happy.
