016- Edo and Moroboshi.

A/N: I'll be mixing it the Netflix show version with the manga because why not?

(Shinjiro's POV): In one of the Medical offices of the SSSP...

"DAD!!! OW!"

I sat up, wincing and groaning, my hand unconsciously touching my injured shoulder. Before I could comment on the bandages, I turned to my right only to gasp in shock when I was met by a one-eye cyclops alien...wearing a suit?

"Mr. Hayata will be fine." Its--I mean, his voice interrupted, startling me once again, "His condition was serious but he is stable."

Sweat trickled down my face as I stared at him, speechless.

The door slid open and Mr. Ide entered, his serious expression prompting me to ask, "Mr. Ide, who is this guy?" He glanced at the one-eyed Cyclop alien, then back at me. "Shinjiro," he said, "I think it's time that we have a little talk."

Both are staring at me intently, I swallowed.

The scene shifts as Mr. Ide beckons me over to join him somewhere. Confused at first, I followed his gaze through the window to see my dad being incubated and monitored. My eyes widened, relief flooding me as Mr. Ide explained.

"At the moment, he's unconscious," He tells me, "but he should be waking up soon."

I placed a hand on the glass window while softly staring at my dad's unconscious body, laying on the hospital bed while having an incubator on him as his heart rate is stable: "...I'm so relieved that he's all right." I said, making Mr. Ide stare at me before remembering something.

"Okay, Shinjiro if you're ready..." "Oh...yeah." I nodded and followed him, moving from one space into another and entering a separate chamber where I could see the one-eyed cyclops alien.

It stood there, imposing and strange. Mr. Ide entered the room as well, stepping through the doorway. I heard a click as the door slid shut, the closing mechanism engaging and sealing us inside, along with the one-eyed cyclops alien.

The heavy door separated us from the previous space.

"I'm not comfortable in confined spaces..." He spoke, "though this isn't as big as it seems." Realizing that he was talking to me, I snapped out of my fear before agreeing with him, "Oh...S-Sure..."

His one eye narrowed slightly as if amused by my reaction, he spoke again: "Allow me to reintroduce himself...My name is Edo." Edo continues, "...Although you earthians used to call me 'Zetton.' " I stepped a bit back in shock, anger, and surprised by this that I was about to attack him, "Zetton, that's—!"

"Right, of course you know... you're Hayata's son." I stare at him suspiciously but let him continue, "Yes, I once tried to invade Earth. I am a survivor of the race, that once tried to kill Ultraman."

Hearing all this from a Zettonian survivor, I can't help but feel frightened by him.

"His race was the worst enemy Earth had ever known, it's no surprise." Mr. Ide speaks up next to me, and what he said next left me speechless, "That you're shocked to find that he works for the Science Patrol now."

Edo joins in, "I know it's difficult for you to accept, but the situation has changed drastically." At this rate, I don't know how much I can take to hear all this in one go. "I hope you listen to what I have to tell you. Ide...how long has it been since Ultraman left and Earth stopped seeing acts of aggression by aggravated extraterrestrial enemies?"

"About forty years."

"Now, let me ask you this, Shinjiro." He paused taking out his hand, as if he was giving me an example of something like I would hear in a lecture in class, but kept on listening to his explanation: "Why do you think that there have been no extraterrestrial invasions ceased forty years ago?"

That question caught my attention, as I pondered confusingly about it: "How would...? I have no idea." "...I'll tell you." Edo begins by explaining, "A collection of planets with intelligent species... including Earth...formed an alliance."

"R-Really...?"

I glance at Ide, who nods and chimes in, "Yes. We joined the alliance when we learned about it seven years ago. In return, they solved the problem of Earth's remaining extraterrestrial remnants."

"So...there's peace?"

"Yes, however, seven years ago, just after our Star Cluster Alliance contacted Earth." Edo begins, "HE showed up."

Stunned, I was about to ask but then realized who he meant, "And 'He', you mean...?" "Precisely, the being calls himself 'Bemular'...the one you just fought. Despite the larger concerns faced by the council, he acts on purely personal motives."

"That's a big enough problem on its own but..." Ide said, now it was my turn to say something: "We have other problems." I look down, averting my gaze from the two people (more like one human and one alien) in one room.

That's when it hit me.

"Are you saying there are a lot of aliens living on Earth right now?" I exclaimed in disbelief.

Ide tells me, "Exactly, as a matter of fact, there may be one closer to you than you think." I raise an eyebrow, "Wait, what are you saying?" Both Edo and Mr. Ide glance at one another before asking, "Do you remember who stopped Bemular from attacking you, Shinjiro?"

"Um, yeah...yeah. Why? You guys aren't going to hurt her right?"

Mr. Ide sighed, sounding both weary and a strange sort of amusement, "Hurt her? Shinjiro, you're missing the point entirely. We're not going to hurt anyone who is upholding the law, human or alien. We're trying to explain why she was able to do what she did."

Edo shifted his weight, his single eye boring into me.

"She shielded you from Bemular's attack." He tells me, "Which is something no one was able to do."

The realization dawned on me.

"And you think... she's an alien?" "It's the most logical explanation, Shinjiro," Mr. Ide affirmed, His voice held the patient exasperation he usually used when explaining tech to executives: "How else could she have intervened? No normal human could stand up to Bemular like that."

I pictured anyone that I put my mind into but it was impossible to add, and then... then I remembered the strange aura around her sometimes, the way she seemed to know things she shouldn't.

"The woman who tried to stop Bemular isn't a human, Shinjiro..."  He paused and then revealed something I wasn't expecting him to tell me, "She is also an alien as well. A Xandarian... And just like Edo, she's the last of her kind."

Across from them, in the other room...

"Has she woken up yet?"

A male voice entered the room, and the doctor explained, "Probably in a few minutes."

"Hm, good. Will need to make sure we inform Mr. Ide when he finishes talking with the alien."

Slowly, Doe-grey eyes fluttered open, her brow furrowing in confusion until she saw a doctor withdrawing a syringe. Instantly, fearing experimentation, Katsuna attacked with no hesitation. By injecting the doctor with the syringe and collapsed.

The other guy hit the alarm button while trying to stop her, but Katsuna, not caring about how vulnerable she felt, pushed him aside and tried to run, "Where the hell am I?" she breathlessly asked herself.

Just then, she heard pounding footsteps coming from her right and spotted the shadows of soldiers rushing in with their weapons drawn. She quickly decided she didn't want to waste time standing at the doorway of the medical office and focused on getting out of there.

'I have to get out of here!' Panic clawing at her, she ran on, and as she turned left, she saw someone ahead. Without pausing to see if they were a worker, Katsuna attacked, catching the person off guard before they wrestled.

Of course, this person was a guy but didn't hesitate to return the attack, as they both began fighting one another that they were equals in the fighting skills they both possessed, Katsuna heard the grunts.

The fight was brutal.

Every punch, every kick, every grapple was met with equal force.

'Ugh, this guy I'm fighting is good—too good.' He matched her every move, his reflexes sharp and his strikes precise. Katsuna could feel the adrenaline pumping through her veins, her heart pounding in her chest as they traded blows.

He blocked her jab and countered with a swift kick to her side, forcing her to stumble back. She recovered quickly, ducking under his next strike and landing a solid punch to his ribs. He grunted, his breath hitching, but he didn't falter.

Instead, he grabbed her by the arm and twisted, forcing her to spin around. But Katsuna used her swiftness to break free, delivering a sharp elbow to his stomach. Evenly matched, and it was infuriating for both of them.

'I didn't have time for this. I needed to get out of here, and this guy was standing in my way.'

The frustration inside Katsuna was boiling her over, as she lunged at him with everything she had. Until finally, her fist connected with his jaw, to which the impact sent him sprawling to the ground.

He spat out a mouthful of blood, his glasses uneven, and for a moment, Katsuna felt a pang of guilt.

But she didn't have time to dwell on it.

Katsuna moved in to finish the fight, her fists clenched and ready, but then she froze.

Something about him...something about the way he looked, the way he moved...it was familiar. Her eyes narrowed as she took in his features. His short, dark hair, once tousled in that carefree way I remembered, was now neatly styled, though slightly disheveled from our fight.

His rectangular glasses, which had always been a staple of his look, were now a dark red instead of the black frames she remembered. And the suit...he was wearing a suit and tie, something Katsuna never would have imagined him in back in high school.

But it was him.

There was no mistaking it.

"Moro...boshi-kun?"

To be continued...
