Y/N's POV
All day I had moped around the orphanage. Distractions left and right, like playing chess with Emma, gardening with Horace, and even cooking up meals and snacks with Olive.
But nothing could get my mind off of Enoch. It was Valentine's Day. And not only had he not wished me a Happy Valentine's Day, I haven't seen him all day. He was gone when I woke up.
"Something wrong Y/N?"
I must have been spaced out because Olives voice startled me, "I'm quite alright Olive."
She only looked at me in response, her eyebrows raised and gazing at me knowingly.
I sighed loudly, "It's just, I haven't seen Enoch all day. And I know he isn't one to be lovey dovey, but he was gone when I woke up and I haven't seen him since."
" Hm, now that you mention it, I haven't seen him around either. Have you asked Victor? Or maybe Jake?"
"If Enoch was alone with him, I'm pretty sure I'd be talking to a dead Jake."
Olive laughed rather loudly and hit my shoulder playfully.
"Well, I can handle this if you'd like to go look for him."
She offered, motioning towards the dishes sat in the sink.
A smile blossomed on my face.
"Thank you Olive. I owe you big time."
She grinned and shooed me away.
Disregarding the spots I had already checked, I began walking to the one place I could think of him being when something tickled my ankle.
Looking down I gasped sharply, a little clay doll rested at my feet.
A makeshift pincher from some sort of machine extended a piece of paper, I cradled the small creation, which I knew to be Enoch's, and plucked the folded up parchment from it's grasp, reading the no longer hidden words.
Dear Y/N,
Before you panic, I'm perfectly
fine. Knowing you, you've
probably been looking for me
everywhere, all day. I also know
from knowing you, if I would
have just showed up out of the
blue to share this with you in
person, I would have received
a blow to the back of my head
and a rather stern talking to,
hence the letter being delivered
by Ernie here or whatever you've
taken to calling him. Meet me
near the beach as soon as you
I'll be waiting. Hurry up.
That damn boyfriend of mine. Running off, avoiding me all day, sending me a letter with one of his mutant creations, and then calling me abusive. Why I outta- nevermind.
Taking off down the dirt road I grasped handfulls of my dress, kicking off my shoes and leaving them in the ditch along the way.
The familiar noise of waves crashing into the earth filled my ears as curly brunette hair came into view. He was standing towards the ocean. Wasting no time I hurried to him, spinning him around and slinging my arms around his neck. He didn't hug me back for a couple of second, not unusual for Enoch. When I pulled away my hands found his cheeks, and brushed back his hair hastily, examining him before he could protest too much, relief flooded me as I found no injuries. He laughed under his breath at my state, the sun hitting his features so perfectly, kissing him was inevitable. He grasped into my waist as I squished his cheeks in my hands. As our lips moved against one another, I almost forgot how livid I was. Landing a smack to the side of his head, I pulled away.
"Jesus woman. This is why I didn't come find you in the first place."
"What did you expect! You ran off, no one knew where you were! I was worried sick. And I missed you! It's Valentine's Day for goodness sake."
"I could tell a couple seconds ago when you had your tongue shoved down my throat, but now I'm not so sure."
He rubbed at the side of his head and I rolled my eyes, kissing him again so he'd stop complaining.
The scowl that previously sat upon his lips disappeared when we pulled away from each other for the second time.
"Why are we at the beach."
I was confused when he didn't say anything and instead pointed behind me, turning around the confusion faded away.
"Enoch O'Connor. I- it's beautiful!"
Swinging around I hugged him, placing a couple pecks to his lips before peppering his whole face in kisses. He protested greatly and grabbed my wrists in an attempt to free his head from my grasp before looking around to be sure no one witnessed the previous events.
"Would you cut it out and go sit down."
