EVIE DROPPED HALFWAY TO HER
knees and slithered over towards Thomas. She took Newt's face in both of her hands.

"What have you done, Thomas?" she murmured.

"Wha- what I had to do.. the virus took over." Thomas panted out of breath. He shook his head.

"Newt." Evie whispered.
Tears were streaming down her cheeks. She heard the loud drone of the propellers as the drone landed with the kids and Jorge.

Newt's hair was blown across his forehead by the wind of the propeller, his eyes were wide open, when Evie heard a gasp. His eyelashes twitched slightly as he struggled for breath. His body lay limp on the floor as Evie stood up and looked at Thomas.

"Help me get him in." She hissed and stepped behind the boy. She placed her hands under Newt's arms and lifted his upper body.

"Help me Thomas, come on!" she said in a strict tone, trying to pull Newt towards the drone and ignoring the emotions of her brother.

"I have get something done first." the brunette boy said and stood up. Evie looked at her brother in confusion as he ran off in the direction they had come from.

Newt gasped again and they lifted him up from the floor.
Evie looked into the boy's black eyes.

"Kill me." he whispered so softly Evie didn't think she heard him. Her eyes widened. Her startled gaze met Minho's, who had grabbed Newt's legs. Minho also stared at the blond boy in shock, but also like he would get a deja-vu. They began to run towards the drone when Newt began to squirm.

"Forget it. Put him on the seats," Evie said, convinced that it was the virus talking out of him and not Newt himself.

"And strap him on." She added. Newt yanked on the straps and screamed hysterically when Minho followed her commands.
In the corner of her eye, Evie saw the WCKD kids backing away fearfully, as if Newt were a dangerous predator.
She felt the need to cry about Newt's state. She couldn't bear to see him like this and averted her eyes.

Evie ran to the black bag, from the WCKD building. She rummaged around in it, actually knowing where to look to find what she wanted.
She administered something to Newt that she knew in some way would calm him down. Whether it was intuition or she had a hunch about it before she lost her memories was beyond her knowledge at that moment.

As the needle pricked Newt's flesh and the drug flowed through his blood, Newt visibly calmed. The blond boy fainted and Evie administered the serum.

"Where's Thomas?" asked Jorge. Evie looked around, but he was gone.

"He's going to get Teresa." she then answered.

"He wants to kill Paige!" Frypan said, staring at Evie. She thought of the blonde woman.
How she had taken them in and acted out the role of their mother. How she had manipulated and taken advantage of them. She had sent them into the maze and would have done even worse to them if Evie hadn't escaped from that lab.
The same blood that pulsed through Evie's body, flowed through Thomas' veins. They would keep him in that lab like a rat.

"Teresa? Seriously?" Brenda asked annoyed.

"My theory is better," frypan said, crossing his arms amused. He was obviously stressed about Newt's situation and tried to lighten the mood.
Evie looked at Newt again.

At that moment, however, her interest was not in the blond boy or the serum.
She wasn't thinking about rescuing him and returning to safe haven, which had been her fondest wish for the past few months.
Evie thought of her brother, Thomas. Thomas as he ran straight to his final end, his death.

"It doesn't matter, he's at the WCKD center!" said Minho and Jorge started the engine. Evie didn't think twice, planted a kiss on Newt's forehead and ran down the ramp.

"Damn it." she muttered about her own stupidity in saving her brother.

"Evie!" she heard Minho shout behind her.

"Idiot!" Jorge's voice drang into her ear.

Yeah, maybe she was. She was an idiot. But she would never leave her brother alone, not in this life and not in the next. She was prepared to defend her family with her last ounce of strength. At least everything that was left of her relatives.

Evie ran into the large WCKD building, along the corridors and windows until she spotted her brother. Thomas was standing in a hallway, a gun pointed at the blonde woman, that had her back turned to Evie. She didn't need to see her face to know it was the true and only Ava Paige.

"The hell you put us through. All those years for nothing." Thomas's voice quivered. His gaze was fixed on the woman.

"This ends here and now!" His hand trembled, his voice faltered. A tear ran down his cheek, he was afraid to kill Paige, after all, she was the same mother figure to him that she had been to Evie.

"Thomas. You heard what Teresa said." Her voice remained steady, as if she knew Thomas wouldn't shoot her. As if she knew exactly what made him tick and what she had to say to calm him down.

"Come on, Evelyn." Her hand rested warmly on the girl's shoulder as her eyes radiated nothing but calm.
"You've got a long way to go."

Evie held a hand to her head at the sudden memory. Ava Paige had taken on a mother figure for them, the mother they probably never had. She was a role model, an idol.
Evie's stomach twisted painfully as a swarm of feelings came over that memory. Ava Paige, the woman who had been responsible for so much suffering, who had been in a completely different light since the flare.

A shot rang out as Evie felt one hell of a pain in her throat. She felt someone ram something into her skin. Her legs gave way and she fell to her knees.
Her hand found the syringe in her throat and pulled it out.
A mat of dark black appeared in the corners of her eyes.

The last thing she saw was the blood spreading across Paige's back, dropping the dead woman to the floor.
Evie recognized the black leather jacket of Janson moving towards Thomas with his gun raised.

The darkness caught up with her.
As always, a black nothingness.

"We'll keep you alive. Just-.." Janson's voice rang out in Evie's ear. He was interrupted by Thomas, who threw himself forward against the straps that bound him tightly.
Evie felt the stinging in her arm again, opened her eyes and looked into Teresa's brown ones.
She recognized pure fear in the brunette's expression. Indecision about what she should do.

Evie looked at the straps holding her arms to the bed, then looked over at Thomas, whose expression was nothing but pure disgust. Teresa stood up and seemed to be preparing something at a table, while Evie's gaze was on Janson.

"Awake already?" he tilted his head.

"You won't get away with this, Janson!" she said, her eyes fixed on him.

"Oh Evelyn, I've been getting away with this for a long time." He hissed as Teresa handed him a device.

"With you, we will save many lives. Of course, there's not enough blood for everyone. Tough decisions have to be made." He pulled up the sleeve of his gray sweater and an infection like Newt's appeared on the skin of his forearm.

"You take what you can't give!" Evie hissed.

"You're useless!" She yanked on the straps, gritting her teeth.

Janson giggled, then put the device on his arm. He looked like he wanted to say something, but was then interrupted by a clang. The man fell to the ground and Teresa emerged from behind him. In her hand was a broken test tube.

"Okay!" she muttered and began to pull at Evie's harness. She undid one and then ran to Thomas. Evie freed herself with her free hand, catching a glimpse of Teresa, only to discover a psychopathically staring Janson behind her.

Evie got off the couch and watched as Janson grabbed the girl by the wrist and threw her across the table.

"Teresa!" she screamed. Her eyes met those of Thomas, who was in the process of freeing himself.

"Evie run!" her brother shouted. He had freed himself and got off the bed. Evie reached beside her for a glass and threw it at Janson's head.

"Bitch!" he cursed. The blonde ran for the door when she was yanked back by her hair. She saw the table coming towards her as she was thrown against its edge. Pain shot through her forehead, then all over her skull. She grabbed the spot and saw blood on her fingers.

"Shit!" she hissed, barely able to see clearly. Janson was pulled away from Thomas as they came to blows.

"Run Evie!" her brother yelled again. Evie ran for the door, out into the hallway. She had to brace herself against the wall and reached for her walkie-talkie.

"Guys?!" she literally shouted inside.

"Evie?!" came Brenda's voice.

"We need help, we're in the WCKD building!" Evie ran around the corner, frantically looking for an exit. There was silence at the end of the line.

"Listen, you have to get out of there somehow, do you hear me?" said Brenda.

"You have to get to the roof!" She could hear Vince's voice.

"Okay!" Evie painted, glancing backwards. Thomas and Teresa came running towards her.

"We need to get on the roof!" She shouted. Teresa seemed to think.

"That way!" said the brunette and they ran along the glass panes. Evie looked into the glass and recognized her reflection, then she saw the blazing fire in the city. A shot rang out behind them.

"Teresa!" Thomas shouted, grabbing the girl and running around the corner with her.

"We'll distract him Evie you have to get to the roof so they can find you!" Teresa said in panic. Evie looked between the two of them.

"You'll come after me, won't you?" she asked and Thomas nodded.

Evie had the awful feeling that her brother was lying.

"Go. And stay there."

They parted ways and Evie ran down the corridors to the stairs. A bad feeling spread through her stomach. Every fiber in her wanted to turn back and help them.

The girl hurried up the stairs and opened the door. She reached the roof and the smell of smoke hit her. Evie looked for the drone, but the sky was black, blinded by the light of the fire and the explosions everywhere. The girl couldn't see anything.

Minutes passed in which she wondered if her brother was dead after all and wanted to run down to him. However, she followed Thomas' instructions.
She watched as the buildings collapsed and the last city was destroyed.
The door behind her opened and Thomas came out, supported by Teresa.

"He's hurt!" the girl shouted in panic.

"Thomas." Evie mumbled and ran to them.

"What happened?!" she asked when she saw Thomas' blood-soaked shirt.

"Shot." Teresa's voice sounded tearful.

"It's going to be okay Teresa they'll be right there!" Evie had put her hand on Teresa's arm. Finally, the familiar sound of propellers sounded and Evie spotted the giant drone.

"That's them! Come on!" Evie shouted and ran to the edge of the building. She waved her arms.

"HERE!" she screamed at the top of her lungs, panicked that they might miss her. They flew towards the roof and the flying machine turned.

"Okay! They see us! Okay come on!" Evie ran towards her brother and helped Teresa to support him. The flap on the back of the drone opened and her friends emerged.

"JUMP!" Vince shouted. Thomas got hold of his hand, but they were interrupted.

"CLOSER!" Gally shouted to Jorge. The building next to them was already collapsing.

"COME ON THOMAS!" Evie cheered him on. They picked Thomas up again.

"COME ON!" Minho shouted. Thomas grabbed his hand and was pulled up.

"And now you!" Evie shouted to Teresa. She jumped, grabbed the outstretched hand and was pulled up. The ground beneath Evie shook.

"Evie go!" She took a bit of a running start, jumped and grabbed Minho's hand. The blonde girl saw a single burst of flame beneath her where the floor used to be. She was pulled up and clung tensely to Minho, afraid she might fall back into the fire.
Minho wrapped his arms around her.

"You're crazy!" he said, as they stared into the flames. Evie saw Teresa running her hand through her brown hair. Tears flooding over the girls cheeks.

"I'm so sorry for everything, I'm so sorry!" Teresa suddenly sobbed. Evie broke away from Minho.

"I thought I was doing the right thing, I thought-.." Teresa sobbed, when Evie hugged her.

"You took the wrong path, but you turned ways, you found the cure and you saved my brother. We're even."
Evie nodded at her. Teresa looked down at her knees and then at Minho.

"I'm sorry." She whispered. Minho ignored her words. He wouldn't forgive her so quickly.

"Ou shit!" Brenda suddenly cursed as they looked to her and Thomas. The boy had a bullet wound to his side that was bleeding profusely. They quickly carried him in and closed the magnifying glass.

It was finally over.

Authors Note:
U really thought I was gonna let Newt die? The love of my life when I was 14?!

Also I wanted to take this moment to talk about Teresa. I wasn't sure abt letting her die, but I decided to give her a second chance.

People are hating this girl but I think with this ff and especially Evie's story it is clear that WCKD is manipulative. They do everything to get people on their side, so they manipulated Teresa's memories and gaslighted her into thinking she'd do the right thing. In the end she's also just a girl of 17 years.

This girl promised to find a cure and she did! She saved Thomas life and I really think she deserves a second chance for that.

So stop bitching y'all and for those that are hating the actress for a role she played

I AM COMING FOR YOU!!!

Cause Kaya scodelario is one of the sweetest and funniest actresses I've ever seen. <3

Anyway don't forget to vote! Nobody likes silent readers. <33
