most of rolf's childhood burn scars have since faded, but if he takes off his shirt, you might notice some faint discolouration or patched spots of skin on his chest or arms. not many would notice easily unless maybe going in for a handshake, but his palms are scarred. rolf is incredibly in touch with his elemental abilities, so he has naturally not burned himself in quite some time. accidentally, that is.

a notable beige patch along the back of his right forearm shaped slightly like the non-existant texas.

𝐎𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐀𝐋𝐋 𝐏𝐄𝐑𝐒𝐎𝐍𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐘
rolf has been known by others to be an honest man, someone who doesn't take pleasure in lying or forging falsehoods on the basis of bettering himself or sheltering others. many people consider what rolf says to them to be reliable, as he has time and time again proven himself to be the bearer of the truth, no matter what that truth is. this has both helped and harmed him, as while his word is known to be very trustworthy, he does at times come across as blunt and matter-of-factly in his speech. as a child, rolf was frequently targeted by others, who failed to understand rolf's reasons for always being so honest and genuine. later on, his firm sincerity became more of an asset than a burden and helped him to gain the trust of those around him. rolf has always lived by the principle that there is no reason for him to lie unless honour is brought into question. honour trumps honestly, and even rolf, the bearer of the truth, would never sell out a comrade, for no sum of reward. however, one could argue that he doesn't even lie then; he just maintains his silence. if rolf wishes not to share the truth, he keeps his mouth firmly shut. otherwise, he tremendously prefers to live his life as an honest man.
mr beaudeschamps is known as a reasonable person, or used to be. he has been shown to be reliable to those he supports and trusts, but even then, was known to be able to understand both sides to every conflict he was meant to face. rolf is never the frontrunner of a deal or decision, but was sometimes consulted by others to determine whether such things were reasonable and fair, or not. rolf seems to be someone who sticks very close to his moral principles, but his moral shell has slowly begun to crack ever so slightly. notably, rolf has been losing his ability to reason with the existence of the demon kingdom. even children, innocent demon children, are slowly losing their innocence in his eyes, and he can no longer be a reasonable person on the subject of it. the longer he ponders it, the less reasonable he becomes entirely. if the children are spared, then what do they grow up to be? their murderous parents.
rolf is naive and easily manipulated. he's always been a follower, never a leader, and has issues with trusting others to always be as honest as he is. his reason has oftentimes been used against him, and his honesty and guilelessness can be used by generally just anybody able to outsmart him - which is in fact very easy to do since he's not anywhere even slightly above average intelligence and skills. rolf is not clever, which is exactly why he follows orders and does as told - he could never come up with his own plans. and, as a result, he is easy to use. he follows orders, and he generally follows them well.
rolf isn't secretive, he just isn't talkative. he isn't smart or powerful enough to have secrets to keep. even then, his father raised him to only speak unless spoken to. of course, he does speak when he feels the need to or when he thinks it's important, but he's generally stuck to remaining quiet if he has nothing special to add to conversations, which he doesn't usually. due to a strict upbringing, rolf doesn't value his own opinions. not in a negative way, necessarily; he just believes that his thoughts don't matter. as time has gone on, though, he's struggled to justify to himself why his one opinion now has so much value to him. why would it matter how many people close to him have died at their hands? what does it matter? where every opinion he's ever formed has been useless and matters not at all, this one does. his hatred of the demons burns him on the inside, which is how he knows how much it matters to him. as a result of how quiet he tends to be in serious times, rolf is very observant. he does gain a lot of information from people's expressions and body language that other people would not generally notice, but he still isn't smart enough to really do anything about any of it.
you could argue that rolf is in fact a very innocent young man, despite some of the things he's done and has been planning for a long time in his mind. he does have a strong sense of justice, but he has been taught very black and white perceptions of what the world is and who people are. rolf is a rather close-minded person, but only because he learned to be so in order to be an effective fighter. he is full of blind trust for others, and sometimes just assumes that everyone around him has the same opinions that he does, especially considering the demons. he feels like he'd have no problem getting others to agree with them; they've had loved ones killed by demons too, so why would anybody still like their existence at this point? all in all, rolf is a generally quiet follower-type, whose mind works in rather simple ways, which allows him to be easily taken advantage of. his parents have raised in him principles that rolf could never dream of defecting from. if he has no principles to follow in life and to ground him (to follow orders of others, good means getting rid of evil, honesty is the best policy, etc) then he knows that he has nothing else of use to offer.
rolf is painfully average in personality, and painfully naive, but he's also grown to be full of hate. before the death of every person who he'd ever truly cared about in his life, rolf was a very stable and usually happy young adult, full of determination and drive to be a good soldier simply so that he could help and follow orders, as he was destined to do. as time has gone on, whoever might possibly be left in his life would have begun to see rolf become more bitter, and though he does try to hide it with occasional smiles, he once again is not someone who likes lying, nor is he good at it. he wears a permanent slight scowl, and it visibly deepens when he's thinking about the demon kingdom. his drive is not to be a good rule follower now, but more of a darker need to prove himself to his deceased family and a need to be the best in order to defeat the demonic race that is his number one enemy. don't mistake him, rolf still cares heavily about being a good follower and a good fighter, but his hatred is slowly taking the forefront of his life. he tries not to talk about it in front of others, but he tends to become very bitter in conversations mentioning demons and occasionally slips up to release a tablespoon or two of his hatred for them. it's begun to run so deeply within him that he doesn't know how to live without hate, now.
finally, the last beaudeschamps left is incredibly advanced in the martial arts and the mastery of his abilities. he has been training his entire life to be effective on a battlefield, and now, a battlefield against an entire race. he doesn't look like much due to his slim build and obvious youth, but rolf has been trained to be a weapon. he has the reflexes of a cat, almost, and the speed of an animal. the only time rolf seems to think methodically is when he's training, fighting, and planning his next several moves ahead of time. the only thing he could possibly scheme is an attack, in all other areas he is pretty ineffective at scheming (however, he does have a plan for the demons, but he doesn't believe it could work yet). all in all, if rolf doesn't train at all times, there is no way for him to succeed in his only true goal in life: the only opinion he's ever formulated that he believes matters to him and maybe even to others.

- ETHERIVA: well rolf lives here. in his very basic perception of good and evil, he lives in the good kingdom.
- AUREYDOR: demons. a kingdom infested with demons. rolf had never been much of an angry person, nor had he ever had anything to hold a grudge over until demons -of aureydor- took out his entire family. things have changed since then, and at the mere mention of the demon kingdom, rolf bristles. he'd never seen genocide or even just killing aimlessly as acceptable until he saw the true damage that the demons of aureydor are capable of, and now, his mind so easily seeing in absolutes, he has decided that they're explicitly all evil. if the demons were not the true enemy before, they are now. he wants all of aureydor dead. it's not always immediately apparent the amount of hatred he has boiling up towards the demons because of how quiet he is, but he's vowed that he will use his every breath up until his last to avenge his family and his wife. in his mind, the only true vengeance is every demon dying. rolf knows that he's not much of a schemer; he isn't smart enough, so he needs to get someone who might be smart or powerful on his side. he isn't sure because he doesn't know many of the other court members well enough yet, but if he had a team of people smart enough to come up with a plan, then he knows he can execute it. he himself already has a fantasy in his mind of how they all burn to dust and bone fragments, but he knows that while the image is enough to get him to sleep at night, it won't be enough in real life.
