31. Baswtard (unedited)
Silence filled the car contracting the busy bustling traffic outside.
Asvaldur's aura depicted rage and frustration. With his jaw clenched and rage burning in his icy blues, Siofra couldn't help but feel turn onned.
It took a few minutes and a pep talk, about how this is not the right situation to be turned on. She composed herself.
"If you continue like this, you would probably have no teeth left by clenching your jaw so hard." She said to which she was met by his stromy eyes.
She knew he was frustrated, frustrated to meet the man who destroyed his family, frustrated to meet the man who tried to take her away from him. And the fact that he felt it was ridiculous to take her to see the man, who was pointing gun at her just a couple of days ago.
"Asvaldur I know, a lot is going into your mind. But trust me, this all is necessary. Why can't you think, that after all these years your mom will finally get the justice she deserves, finally the person who turned our lives upside down is getting the punishment he deserves. Besides I have to go along with you as it's necessary to give my statement, trust me it will be over in couple of minutes." She said trying to make him relax.
Not having anything else to say, he just nodded absorbing her words. She is right he can't mess this up, he has to face Edwardo and give his mother justice.
He held her small hand into his big ones, drawing as much strength as he could from her.
She was his strength.
He was always one of those who thought love is weakness. Oh how wrong he was. Love gives you strength to fight the world. It gives you hope that even after a tough day you would have someone who will brighten your day with their smile, hope that even if the world is against you someone would stand by you.
"Sir we are here." Henry said.
He nodded his head and quickly went out towards the other end and opened the door for his love.
As soon as she was about to set her foot he scooped her into his arms. Siofra was about to protest, completely against of the public display of affection his fiance is showing but as if reading her mind Asvaldur gave her a challenging glare and said-
"Not a word love, I agreed coming here with you just because you agreed to my conditions. Now be a good girl and let me take care of you."
Of course she agreed without thinking once what is conditions would be. Knowing Asvaldur he was probably thinking that walking may exert her and cause her to faint, so he decided to carry her.
"How are you, Mr. and Mrs. Knight?" The officer asked, Siofra couldn't help but blush hearing him call her Mrs. Knight.
"We are fine, Officer. My wife just got discharged from hospital and we had to rush here? Can you tell, whats so important that couldn't wait?" Asvaldur asked calling her wife causing her to deepen her blush.
"I am sorry sir and ma'am. I hope it didn't cause much trouble, but I needed you guys to sign in some papers. If you sign them it would be easier for us to take legal action against Edwardo. Already many people have signed and have been presented as evidence, its just you two remaining. If you would sign it now, we would be able easily take legal action against him." The officer explained.
Nodding to what the officer said they read each and every sentence mentioned on the paper, finding it all clear they both signed it.
As the officer and Asvaldur were engaged in the boring talks about legal formalities, Siofra roamed her eyes around the station. It was her first time in here she absorbed each and every detail.
Suddenly her eyes felt on a small figure sitting in a corner, shaking tremendously.
There was a small boy around two years old, staring at the wall in front of him emotionlessly.
His icy blue eyes that were slightly red, his demore and aura completely reminding her about Asvaldur when she met him first time.
"Love, what happened where are you lost?" Asvaldur said breaking her from her trance.
"Nothing, officer who is the child sitting over?" She asked.
"Oh he, he is one of many children we rescued from Edwardo's human trafficking chain. He was the youngest one, poor soul it affected him very deeply. He refuses to speak to anyone or even look at anyone he just stares at the wall. We are just waiting for some foster care to come and take him." The officer said leaving both Asvaldur and Siofra in their own world.
"Val-"
"Love-"
They both said together looking into each others eyes.
"You go ahead love." He said.
"I--I don't want him to go to foster care, I know what happens in a foster care. He is too fragile to go there, he'll be broken." She said sniffing back her tears.
"Yes love, I know this is too sudden and I don't even know him. Bu--ut I wanted to sponsor his studies and his daily expenses. But seeing him somehow I see myself. I want to shower him all love and care I was deprived of. But now you are saying that you don't want him in foster care, what do we do love?"
"L--lets adopt him, Val. I want to give me all love, care and attention that we are deprived of. Let's make him a good human being by nurturing him by all our love. But that's if you want to, if not we can always sponsor his education as you said." She said.
"I love the idea, love. I will make sure that my son never faces anything I faced in this world. Whatever his past is lets make him forget and create new memories for him." He said.
"Are you sure, Val? I know I came up with this idea but adopting someone is big step? Are you sure you are ready for it? Are we ready for it? And what about others your dad, Alessandro, Cheryl we never informed anyone yet." She asked being skeptical.
"I am ready, love. Now that I got the love of my life I think it's a perfect time to start a family with her. And about us being ready, I know you will be the best mother ever, you are just like my mother kind and jovial. And I will try to be a good father too. Also about others it's our decision, our life, they shouldn't have problem with it too." He replied with a small smile.
She smiled at him ,pecked his lips and said-
"You are going to be the best dad too, Val."
"Okay!okay! Now let's go and warm up with him!" He said.
They reached the small boy, who was busy looking the wall in front of him, not acknowledging them. Minutes passed he still didn't look up to them.
Siofra bended to reach his level.
"Hi!" She said as sweetly as possible.
For the first time the little boys eyes met someone, he was told not to meet eyes with anyone by his sir but he couldn't help as he heard he felt some fairy came to meet him.
As soon as Siofra was his icy blue eyes, she saw what she saw when she first time met Asvaldur hope, hope that someone came to save him from this cruel world. This cute boy radiated innocence through his emotionless eyes, she had this intense desire to protect him.
"Hi, I am Siofra. What's your name?" She asked hoping for a reply.
The boy staring deep into her eyes not replying to the question she asked, losing hope as she was standing up, little hands held her.
"Baswtard"
The little boy said remembering the only name his sir called him from.
