The end of first year
As the end of the year approached, Y/N couldn't help but reflect on all that had happened. She had heard about the drama with Harry and Quirrell, about the Philosopher's Stone and Voldemort. It all seemed so surreal, like something out of a storybook.
But the most significant event for Y/N was her falling out with Draco Malfoy. They had gotten into a heated argument one day, their differences finally coming to a head. Y/N had always been annoyed by Draco's arrogance, his sense of superiority. And that day, she had finally told him off.
Draco had been taken aback, his usual smug expression replaced with one of shock. He had tried to argue back, but Y/N had stood her ground. She had told him that she didn't want to be friends with someone who looked down on others, who thought he was better than everyone else.
After that, Draco had stopped talking to Y/N. He avoided her in the halls, ignored her in class. Y/n felt happy that no one would annoy her fucking head off anymore
Y/N dreaded to go back to the orphanage and planned to ask dumbledore to stay at hogwarts, her home.
She requested a meeting with Dumbledore, the Headmaster of Hogwarts. She was nervous as she entered his office, but she knew she had to do this.
"Dumbledore," she began, her voice steady. "I was wondering if I could stay at Hogwarts over the summer. I don't want to go back to the orphanage."
Dumbledore looked at her for a moment, his eyes filled with understanding. "I see," he said, his voice gentle. "I understand your situation, Y/N. And I believe we can arrange for you to stay at Hogwarts."
Y/N felt a wave of relief wash over her. She thanked Dumbledore, her heart filled with gratitude. She wouldn't have to go back to the orphanage. She could stay at Hogwarts, her home.As the other students started to leave for the summer, Y/N found herself saying goodbye to Daphne. They stood in the entrance hall, their trunks packed and ready to go.
"Daphne," Y/N began, her voice choked with emotion. "I just wanted to say goodbye. And thank you. For everything."
Daphne smiled at her, her eyes filled with warmth. "You don't have to thank me, Y/N," she said. "We're friends. That's what friends do."
Y/N nodded, tears welling up in her eyes. She hugged Daphne, holding on tight. "I'll miss you," she said, her voice barely a whisper.
"I'll miss you too," Daphne replied, her voice equally soft. "But we'll see each other next year!"
With that, they said their final goodbyes for this year. Y/N watched as Daphne left, her heart heavy with sadness that her best friend was leaving. But she knew they would see each other again. And until then, she would cherish the memories they had made together.
