Stag Night

It's been well established that Lily and James both despised Valentine's Day for multiple reasons. They felt to remain true to themselves, that they should have their Stag parties on the holiday.

Still, this seemed to stun Sirius the most. He also questioned their logic more than anyone else.

"Aren't you supposed to spend today with your significant other?" Sirius asked, causing everyone to collectively groan.

"They despise the holiday, Sirius, so they're actively trying not to celebrate it," Remus explained.

"Oh okay..."

...

Organizing the bachelorette party had taken the better of a month. This meant Marlene, Mary, and Alice constantly meeting up at nearby coffee shops to keep the plans as secretive as possible. Their main concern wasn't Lily finding out, but the Marauders. Marlene could only imagine what would happen if Sirius crashed their party.

Ultimately, they decided to let Lily drive them to a hotel and go out for a night on the town. It wasn't the most elaborate party in the world, yet they knew it was something that Lily would enjoy. She liked simple things and the party could definitely fall into the simpler category.

The car Lily was driving had been her mum's since around Lily's third-year. It was modest in the fact that it had everything they needed and nothing more. What else could you really ask for?

"Listen to the wind blow
Watch the sun rise..."

"Oh my Merlin! Turn it up!" Alice nearly yelled from the back seat next to Mary.

Marlene had claimed shotgun as navigator and Maid of Honour, which did perturb the two other girls for a hot second when she rubbed it in their faces. Lily was quick to shut that down when she slapped Marlene on the back of her head.

"Run in the shadows
Damn your love, damn your lies..."

The hill they would all die on is for their love of Fleetwood Mac. Lily and Mary had done a good job of introducing muggle culture to them and now if anyone insults Stevie Nicks they will hear from both Marlene McKinnon and Alice Longbottom.

"Here comes the good part!" Mary grinned.

Collectively, they all took a deep breath to get ready to screech-sing the chorus. They all could decently sing—especially Lily—but they were more worried about getting the words out then sounding good.

"And if you don't love me now
You will never love me again..."

Lily was sure the cars they were passing could hear their voices, but why would that matter? Living in the moment and soaking in all of its glory was all that could ever matter to her again. After all, isn't that what life is all about?

"I can still hear you saying
You would never break the chain (Never break the chain)..."

...

Remus had begged Sirius to stay relatively conservative when it came to their Stag Party. Surprisingly, he listened and just took them all out to a bar. (Although, he did say that if he ever got married that they better go all out.)

Even with the plans being calm, the Marauders would always find a way to take things to the next level—whether that be a good or bad thing. So, being the curious people they were, when they found out people were playing pool they just had to check it out.

As a group, they walked over to the pool table where a group of guys were already playing. Like clockwork they would banter, hit the white ball, and banter some more after the guy finished his turn.

"Oi! Do you wanna play with us?" Meathead asked the Marauders.

The four of them shared a look of disbelief that the man—who was clearly drunk—wanted to play pool with a group of random strangers.

"Sure, why not?" James responded.

The blonde handed over two pool sticks for them to share, as the pub didn't have anymore. Then, they proceeded to introduce each other.

"This is Timmy."

A short redhead nodded in their direction. His face and arms were adorned in freckles that you could probably play connect-the-dots with.

"This is Jimmy."

The brunette waved briefly in their direction before heading to the bar to order another round. It turns out Jimmy was the one who invited them to play in the first place.

"And I am Bob."

Remus tried to keep himself from snorting because Timmy, Jimmy, and Bob seemed to be the kind of guys that thought bragging about dick sizes was cool. Never would the Marauders ever be caught doing that, and that was something they swore by.

The pool game went well for a little while. Peter ended up hitting the white ball into the holes instead of the numbered balls more than a few times, but overall they weren't too terrible considering it was a muggle game.

Right before Jimmy was about to take the game ending shot, he stumbled over drunkenly and knocked over both Timmy and Bob with his pool stick. He completely swept their feet out from under them.

Before they men could get insulted by the Marauders hysterically laughing in their faces, the four of them ran from the bar.

"Merlin, they were the biggest meatheads I have ever seen," Remus spoke through breathless laughter.

"Agreed," Peter said while wiping a fake tear out of the corner of his eye.

...

Step One: Check into the hotel.

This step was completed without a hitch, as Alice had found a relatively remote, small hotel for them to stay in. They all were sharing a room as well, so paying one bill hadn't taken much time.

Step Two: Go to the hotel room.

Their room was as clean as it could be, but Mary took the liberty of spraying it down with some household cleaning spells. She could not handle the fact that other people had slept in this room before.

Step Three: Get ready for bar hopping.

As much as they hated traditions and trends, they just had to coordinate their outfits. Lily wore a white dress that accentuated her curves and fell to her mid thigh. The girls wore a matching dress but in black.

Step Four: Go bar hopping.

Step four seemed to be the easiest to complete. The neon lights shined above their heads on the dance floors that they occupied all night into the early morning. Familiar music was played and sung by them like they couldn't see all the stares from people nearby.

All they needed was a distraction for a little while, a distraction from the real world. This would prove to be adequate before they had to return to the constant battle that life had shone itself to be.

...

After walking the streets reminiscing about times gone past, the boys decided it was time to apparate home. Taking their chaos with them, they all apparated directly into their shared flat.

Around five seconds into arriving home, Sirius lost control of his wand and blasted a hot light out of it. James and Remus dove to the floor in order not to be hit, making the jinx hit the curtains behind them. The thing about curtains is that they're extremely flammable.

"Shit! Sirius, put it out!" James yelled as Sirius was the only one with a wand in his hand.

Panicking, Sirius shot a jet of water out of his wand at the curtains. Peter stood by the situation with wide eyes like he couldn't believe what he was seeing.

"I can't actually believe that happened," Sirius looked at everyone else with apologetic expression.

"Well, I can," Remus spoke while standing up.

"Is it a problem the smoke detectors didn't go off?" James asked, staring at the ceiling.

"Probably."

...

Marlene had done enough drinking for the four of them combined. It was borderline alcohol poisoning—which concerned Lily a great deal—but she still got up the next morning throbbing headache and all.

With the grumpiness of a few trolls, Marlene was the last to jump into the car. Contrasting the Maid of Honour, Alice provided the car with her usual bubbly personality and Mary also seemed to wake up on the right side of the bed.

"Can we listen to Fleetwood Mac again?" Mary pouted.

Marlene had fallen asleep, resting her feet on the dashboard as Lily drove down the road. So, without her protests, Lily conceded to listening to her CD yet again.

"Listen to the wind blow
Watch the sun rise..."

I encourage you all to listen to their music because I think it's absolutely wonderful. (It is also one of the the hills I would die on!)
