GOLD RUSH
CHAPTER FOUR, ANNOYING RORY
Blair sat and watched whatever her mom had put on the tv in front of them in silence while waiting for Rory to get ready. "Hey, I have an idea for a new reality show," Lorelai spoke up when Rory exited her bedroom. "How about everyone just looks out their freaking kitchen window for a change?"
"Ooh, she's cranky this morning," Rory teased while Blair laughed.
"Let's just say the world's got a formidable opponent," Lorelai grumbled and turned the tv off. Blair stood up and made her way to the coffee pot, jumping when Rory turned around and pointed to their mom.
"Wait, shouldn't you be baking?"
"I don't know. Shouldn't you be knitting?"
"Mom! The Chilton bake sale is today!" Rory exclaimed.
"I got it covered," Lorelai shrugged.
"You do realise they expect it to be homemade right? And not Dolly Madison homemade," Blair teased while leaning against the counter.
"I know and I said I have it covered!" she smiled and made her way to the coffee pot, Rory getting in her way.
"All of the parents pitch in," Rory reminded her. "So, this is really important, you know that right?."
"Oh, I didn't know. In that case I don't have it covered," the woman shook her head. "I have it covered!"
"And this conversation is really boring," Blair sighed. "Look, if she says she has it covered then she has it covered stop panicking. We both know she's asked Sookie to bake something."
"Get your stuff and hit the stereo, we're late," she told the girls.
"That's not me," Rory slipped past her and opened the bedroom door to reveal Lane who was dancing in the middle of the room.
"Where does your mom think you are?" Lorelai asked the dancing brunette.
Lane stopped the music and placed her thumbs through the belt loops on her pants, "Oh er on a park bench, contemplating the reunifications of the two Koreas."
"Not here, skanking to Rancid?" Lorelai asked rhetorically.
"Wouldn't be included," she pursed her lips.
Lorelai looked between the three teens with a smile, "School!"
"Rory, grab my bag, pleaseee," Blair called from the kitchen sink as she downed the rest of her coffee.
The Gilmore's made their way down the porch steps when they saw Babette and Morey pulling their cat, Cinnamon, along in a basket with wheels. "Wow, Cinnamon, riding in style!" Rory called.
"Yeah, Morey made it," Babette told them. "Cinnamon's not walking good these days but she still likes her passeggiatas. That's italian for 'a nice walk.'"
"Passeggiata," Morey repeated, making it sound more Italian than Babette.
"What's that?" Lorelai pointed to the hood.
"It's cinnamon's private area. Sometimes she likes to be alone. She's just like Morey in that sense."
Once Babette and Morey were out of earshot, Blair quietly laughed while Rory sighed, "Okay our town is just weird."
"Thank god," Lorelai smiled. The twins said their byes to their mom.
"We'll see you later at school," Rory reminded her.
"For what?"
"Mom, the bake sale!"
"Ha! I got the vein in the forehead! Whoo!" Lorelai laughed.
"Sadist."
The girls made it to the bus stop and waited for the bus, Blair looked around and noticed Dean. "Oh look," she tapped her sister's leg. "Your stalker has finally found you!"
"He's not a stalker," Rory replied while picking up her bag.
"Oh really? Because if you ask me the way he just appears wherever you are just screams 'I'm a stalker' and would you look at that," she mused. "Here he is again."
"He does scream stalker," Venus agreed, sitting behind Blair and glaring at the boy who was sitting next to her.
"Hey!" Dean startled Rory, making her jump and yelp.
Blair turned to the boy with an unamused look on her face," Get your hands off my seat and either sit back or sit somewhere else. Stop leaning on me!"
"Morning," Rory smiled.
"Good book?"
"I don't know yet," Rory replied.
"I saw you standing in the line, so I thought I'd say hello. Hello?"
"Hello," Rory refused to look at him.
"Well, you've said your hi, made Rory make everyone stare at us, pissed me off, practically sat on my best friend and ignored everything I've just told you to do so now can you fuck off?" Blair asked, twisting her body to move his hands off the back of her seat.
Dean ignored the girl and continued to talk to Rory, "Oh hey uh thanks for helping me get the job at the store. I mean, it's not a career or anything but it's got me solvent." While waving his hands about he managed to hit the back of Blair's head which made her clench her jaw and move seats.
"Solvent is good," Rory nodded.
"Yeah," he chuckled. "Uh, are you always this serious?"
"No," Rory shook her head.
"So, uh how long does it take you to get to school?"
"Um, forty minutes if the bus driver's focused but longer if he's trying to win something on the radio. Hey! This bus is going to Hartford."
"Yeah, I know."
"But you go to school here. You've got to get off the bus," Rory panicked for him. "Hey! He has to get off the bus!"
"Wait, wait, wait. You're forgetting something," he stopped the girl's yelling. "Buses make stops."
"Goodby, Lorelai Gilmore and Moody Gilmore."
"Bye stalker!" Blair flipped him off while moving back to her old seat. "You totally have a crush on him."
