It had been 3 weeks since Anna had left, which meant 3 weeks since the kiss. And Kitty had not stopped thinking about it. Was it an 'I like you as a friend' kiss or an 'I like you as a good friend' kiss or an 'I like you as more than a good friend' kiss? Probably the first one. She hoped for one of the latter two but then again, if you wanted someone to be your girlfriend you would call them when you actually arrived in Germany, not after 3 weeks in Germany. Kitty scrolled anxiously through her Instagram feed, absent mindedly liking posts. She watched the top left corner, waiting for the 4 in 16:14 to switch into a five. She didn't quite know why she was so nervous. Well. She did.

Anna was busy chatting to her family, feeling relaxed for the first time in months. She snuggled into the squashy sofa and laughed along with her sister, Amalia of Cleves. Amalia nudged Anna, who then noticed that it was quarter past five. Anna sighed nervously and Amalia wrapped her arms around Anna, guiding her up to the library.
"For a younger sister, you are quite bossy aren't you," Anna giggled.
"Well I don't want you to leave her upset." Amalia shrugged. "Plus, you like her, I know you do. So..." she held out the phone as Anna glared at her in disapproval. It rang once. Twice. Three times.

Kitty leapt a foot in the air when she heard the first ring. "Compose yourself Kit" she muttered, as she accepted the call with a shaking finger, Anna's face suddenly popping up on the screen.
"Awubaju- umm... hi?"she mentally kicked herself .

"Hi Kitty," Anna laughed before moving over for her sister to be on the screen. "This is my one and only sister, Amalia. I'm not sure where Will is but you have her..."
"It's nice to meet you." Amalia smiled. Anna was looking down at her hands. She missed Kitty, but it was so nice being with her family and...

"So how's Germany? Are you missing London at all?" Kitty asked brightly. She missed Anna so much, but, knowing Anna wouldn't be missing her, couldn't do very much about it. Anna was clearly having an amazing time and Kitty had to respect that.

"It's so nice to be back with my family, so so nice. I... I miss you though," she smiled. Amalia stifled a giggle before waving goodbye at Kitty and walking back downstairs.

"You... you do?" Kitty asked in surprise, her big chocolate eyes wide and sparkling with happiness. "I miss you too actually... it's really quiet without you, and I did something..." giggled, looking down at her feet, before scooping this something onto her lap.

"What's that... Kitty?" Anna asked, her nerves evident in her voice. Just as Kitty started to lift the thing up, Anna's phone died. She started to cry. She didn't realise quite how much she missed Kitty until now. And she didn't even see the surprise. Oh well, that was Anna in a nutshell, always leaving the party 5 minutes too early.

Kitty wasn't exactly sure what she had done wrong. She started to cry, burying her face in the ball of fluff she had cradled in her arms.
"Oh Lemon, what have I done wrong?" She asked the tiny mongrel puppy, who was nestled into her. He yapped in remorse, licking Kitty's chin. "I really think I do like her, but she left without even seeing you. Why am I so impossible to love?" She hugged him close before opening her word document and continuing to write.

'Never be ashamed of how much you love, or how quickly you fall. Love fully, love completely, but most importantly, love naturally - and don't you ever apologise for it. Don't ever be sorry for loving the way your heart knows.'

Tears started to drip down Kitty's cheeks, down her chin and down her neck. She should have told Anna when she had the opportunity. She should have told Anna everything. Well, not everything. She should have at least told Anna how she felt, despite Anna going through a rough time herself. Maybe telling someone you like them should be saved for when you are both happy. Or you could just tell them. Use your words. They will never know if you don't tell them. And now Anna was hanging up on Kitty. It had been three weeks with both contact. And she goes ahead and hangs up.

Anna clenched her fists as she paced the halls of their family home. Mansion. Castle. Whatever. She should have put her laptop on charge, she should havetold Kitty when she had the opportunity, she should have messages her instead of waiting for 3 weeks to build up the courage to ask her to facetime. And then hanging up after 5 minutes and 42 seconds. That's the way to show someone you care. Obviously. She needed to fix it. Anna pulled her phone out and took a deep breath before pressing the call button.

Kitty gasped and picked up, holding her phone to her ear in anticipation.

"Hey, I'm sorry my laptop died, I have to go and do something very important now but I love you." Anna bit her lip and hung up, throwing her clothes back into her suitcase and pressing a few buttons on her phone.
"Brian? Hi, yeah, it's me Anna. Can you pick me up from Heathrow airport in 4 hours time?... You can? Awesome, thank you, you incredible man."

Kitty was curled up on the sofa with lemon at her feet watching Gavin and Stacey, darkness falling outside and stars twinkling among the grey clouds in the sky when her door bell rang. Who can be calling this late?Β  Kitty asked herself as she went to pull open the door.
"If you're trying to sell me empty cans again I'm afraid - Anna?"

Anna of Cleves was stood in the doorway, smiling sheepishly.
"Hey Kitty..."
