EPILOGUE:
❝︎Land Of Confusion❞︎
HARPER HAYES HAS EXPERIENCED A LOT IN HER LIFE. From the moment she killed her parents, a new life for her began, one that was filled with monsters, friends, supernatural abilities, love and a little bit of grief. Harper saw her life as a whirlwind, and although there was a lot she would have changed or would have done differently, the one thing she would never change was meeting the people she called her friends, her family.
That's why it hurt her so much when she had to leave. After the return of Malivore and witnessing Josie have to fight her own battles without asking or wanting help, Harper had grown tired of having to fight for her life with each passing day. And then it happened, the one thing Harper had always feared. Her best friend, the person she saw as a sister, had activated her vampire side and had become a full tribrid. Hope had turned off her humanity, and that had been Harper's final straw.
She couldn't stand sitting there and being unable to do anything to help her best friend, it was driving her insane and she knew that if she was going to find a way to help Hope, she was going to have to leave. The mere thought had made her heart ache in her chest because despite not wanting to leave her friends and her life behind, Harper knew, as did everyone else, that she would do whatever it took to bring Hope's humanity back.
Harper sat there in her room, staring at the bus ticket Josie had given her. When the couple had talked and Josie had wanted to leave behind Mystic Falls for her own reasons, Harper knew that she had to follow her. She loved Josie, and she loved Hope. The thought of leaving and never coming back was terrifying, but Harper knew that she couldn't stay in the small town forever. She had to grow up, and she had to live her life, and she wanted to do it away from all the monsters that Mystic Falls seemed to attract. But while she was away, she knew she would be able to do what needed to be done to save her friend.
A soft sigh fell from her lips as she pulled out a piece of paper and began writing.
Dear Hope,
I can't believe I'm doing this, but I knew this day would one day come and it is finally here. Ever since we met, you have been my closest friend. You have been there every time I needed you, and I have always been there for you. And I always will be. I just can't be with you in person right now because, well, quite frankly I'm scared that there will come a time where I will have to fight you and I simply won't do that. I love you too much to ever want to hurt you. I'm hoping when you read this letter, if you read it, that you'll understand why I did what I did.
I'm leaving Mystic Falls and Josie is coming with me. I have to find a way to bring you back. I will not sit here and say that you don't have every right to turn your humanity off, you do. You've been through so much pain in your life and anyone who blames you for doing what you did doesn't understand you. But I do. I understand why and I need you to understand I don't hate you for it. That's why I must leave. Because who am I to fault you for turning off your emotions when you've been hurt so many times? I want to save you from yourself Hope. I'm leaving because I want to find a way to bring you back and help you understand that it's okay to express your emotion and your pain and to talk about all of things you've went through. But, I'm also leaving because I won't fight you and I refuse to watch you destroy yourself. It hurts too much.
I hope you know how much I love you. You mean the entire world to me Hope. And I just want you to know that whenever you need me, whenever you're ready to talk to me, that I'm only a phone call away. And don't worry about whether or not I'll pick up, because for you I will. I will do anything for you Hope, just as I know you would do anything for me. God, I feel like I'm repeating myself over and over again, but I just want you to understand and I hope that you won't hate me for this.
I will see you again, Hope. I promise. But, for now, this is goodbye. Until next time.
Sincerely,
Harper Hayes
A tear escaped Harper's eye and she quickly swiped it away. She folded the letter up, placing it in an envelope before walking to Hope's room and placing it somewhere where she knew Hope would be able to find it. She grabbed the bus ticket, and walked out of the school. She couldn't help herself as she looked behind her, a sad smile on her face. This was the end, for now at least. With a heavy heart she turned and left, smiling as she approached Josie who was waiting for her at the bus stop.
Josie stood when she saw Harper approach, taking a few steps closer to her. Gently, she pushed a strand of hair behind Harper's ear. "Are you okay?" Josie softly asked.
Harper looked at her and a sad smile pulled on her lips. "Yeah, I'm okay, or I will be. I'm doing what's best for me, what's best for us. Even though it hurts to leave it all behind, it was going to happen one day." She reached forwards and grabbed Josie's hand. "I'm just glad that I'm not doing it alone."
Josie gave her hand a squeeze. "Me too." They shared a soft kiss, pulling away when the bus approached them. Josie grabbed their bags, looking at Harper. "You ready?"
Harper nodded. "As ready as I'll ever be." The bus came to a stop, and as the door opened the couple climbed on board, handing their tickets to the driver before taking a seat and watching as the life they once knew passed by within the blink of an eye.
END OF LAND OF CONFUSION!

HEY LOVELIES! So, I know this is a sudden ending, but I really did not have the inspiration to write the last two seasons so I thought the best way to go about this was to give you guys an ending that showed where Harper went and how she and Josie were. They are still very much together!
I hope you all aren't too disappointed with this ending, but I thought this was the best way to go about it that way I was forcing myself to write and giving you all half-assed chapters. If I ever have the inspiration, I will return to this story and write for the last two seasons. As of this moment however that is not the case.
I just want you all to know that I really do love this story, and I love Harper and Josie so much. I hope you all enjoyed this story as much as I enjoyed writing it. Hopefully one day I can return, but if not this is the best ending in my opinion. I love you all so much. With all of my love, Rayne.
