"Ms. (Y/n)?"

You heard a faint knock outside your door. Walking up to the door while tying your hair, you opened the door to see Darcy with her frail arms raised and letters in her hands. "Your owl, Frigga, just arrived with these letters."

"I see." You gladly took the letter and scanned them. "Thank you, Darcy."

Darcy nodded and walked away while you closed the door. You went to your desk and sat in your chair, opening one of the letters you received. You opened a letter from Hermione.

Dear (Y/n),

β €β €β €β €Happy birthday! I wish I could be there right now but sadly we're on a sudden trip. Don't worry, we'll see each other in a few days. Have you heard from Harry? He hasn't written all of us any letters whenever we sent one to him.

β €β €β €β €Anyway, happy birthday again! I'm so glad to have a best friend like you. You always have my back and I promise I'll always be there whenever you need me.

Lots of love,
Hermione

You smiled and hugged the letter. "Thank you, Mione." You placed her letter down while taking the other one that was from Ron.

Hello (Y/n),

β €β €β €It's been a while! Happy birthday! I hope you're having a great day. I wish you all the best and healthy life.

β €β €β €Formal too much? Mum was looking at my letter and told me I should write like this. Anyway, see you soon!

From,
Ron

You chuckled. "Thanks, Ron."

"Pumpkin!" You heard your dad called out. You glanced at your door before placing down Ron's letter together with Hermione's and Peter's letters and walked downstairs to see your dad on the front door. "Come on. Let's go."

"Go where?" You asked as you walked towards him.

"Outside." Your dad smiled. He wrapped his arm around your shoulder as you head out on the house and walked around the garden.

"Beautiful day, isn't it?" He asked as he looked at the day.

"Very." You breathed, closing your eyes as you feel the fresh air.

Then you and your father both sat on a bench surrounded by red roses. Your father took a deep breath and looked at you, giving you a smile as you looked at him. "Today's your birthday and soon, it's Megan's first day at Hogwarts, right?"

You nodded wordlessly.

"I want to tell you that, soon, I might not be around anymore." He looked at the sky, gazing at it and still smiling. A frown was formed on your face, worried why he would say such things. "Everybody wants a happy ending, right? But it doesn't always roll that way."

You kept quiet and listened to your father as he talks. "That epic forces of darkness and light that have come into play. And, for better or worse, that's the reality you and Megan are going to have to find a way to grow up in." He continued.

You nodded along, sighing, looking down at your knees. He looked at you and smiled sadly. He took your hand and held it tight. "I'm saying this to you just in case of an untimely death. On my part. I mean, not that, death at any time isn't untimely."

You could feel a lump on your throat as you tried to hold back your tears. You bit your lip and closed your eyes.

"Part of the journey is the end." He sighed. "Rainbow, don't feel blue. Come on, look at me."

You looked at him with watery eyes. He tucked a strand of your hair behind your ear and cupped your cheek. "If I'm gone, never give up on life. Continue to move forward. Remember that I'll always be here for you, alright?"

You nodded wordlessly again, afraid that tears might come out. He leaned down and kissed your forehead, closing his eyes, then smiled. "I love you 3000." He whispered then pulled away.

A tear was a traitor and it rolled down on your cheek. You quickly wiped it away and took a deep breath. He smiled. "Give your old man a hug."

Without hesitation, you give Edward, your father, a hug. The hug was so tight that you don't want to let go of him. You were now afraid of coming back to Hogwarts. Thoughts flooded your mind.

'What if he dies while I'm at school?'

'What if something bad happens to him while I'm gone?'

'Who will kill him?'

'What can kill him?'

Then your father pulled away and looked at you in the eyes. "Come on. Let's eat your cake. Your mum and your sister are waiting. Especially the guests."

You raised your eyebrow in confusion. "Guests?"

He nodded and stood up. You stood up too and followed him inside the mansion. Once he opened the door, you saw guests and your house is decorated. There were food and a cake.

"Woah." You breathed.

"(Y/n)!" Your sister yelled. She ran towards you and hugged you. "Happy Birthday!"

You giggled. "Thank you."

"We told Dad to talk to you while we prepare for the party," Megan admitted as she pulled away from the hug. "I hope he didn't give a sad conversation or the 'Dad Talk' because that would totally bum you out."

You shrugged. "I got both." You chuckled. You looked up and noticed a tall man with long blonde hair. He turned around and spotted you. It was Lucius Malfoy, Draco's father.

"Lucius," Your dad greeted him and gave him a handshake. "I'm so glad you came."

"Where's Narcissa?" Your father asked Lucius.

"With Vivian." Lucius stated and looked at your mother and Narcissa, Draco's mother.

"The Malfoys are here." Your sister, Megan, said happily. "But I haven't seen Draco."

You looked at your sister and smirked. "You miss him?"

Megan rolled her eyes and scoffed. "You wish. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to prepare for Hogwarts." Megan ran away and went upstairs to her room so she could pack her things.

You just shook your head with a laugh, just as you turned around, you felt hands blocked your sight by covering your eyes.Β

"What a lovely party, Stark."

You almost couldn't recognize who it was. His voice was deep. Puberty did hit him hard. You held his hand and removed it away so you could see. You turn around and looked at your friend. He was taller now unlike before.

"I didn't even know there was a party." You laughed.

"It's still lovely." He smirked and bit his lower lip. "You look lovely too."

You playfully hit his arm and rolled your eyes. "I didn't know Draco Lucius Malfoy is quite a jokester."

He furrowed his eyebrows, looking at you confusingly. "Uhh... I'm not kidding. What I said was true."

"Whatever." You chuckled. You took his hand and pulled him where the food is. "Come on! Let's eat!"

You dragged him to the table until you caught a glimpse of a ginger-haired boy talking to a brown-haired boy. You stopped walking and let go of Draco. "I'll be right back."

You rushed towards Ron Weasley and Peter Ambrose, catching the attention of Lucius Malfoy who was talking to your father. Lucius turned to Edward with his lips pressed into a thin line in annoyance. "You invited the Weasleys?"

Edward's expression suddenly changed when his friend mentioned the Weasleys. "Of course. One of the Weasley boys is friends with my daughter."

"You do know being associated with blood traitors can consider as blood traitors yourselves."

Edward furrowed his eyebrows. "I don't see any problem here, Lucius. You're just making things complicated and wrong."

Lucius' eyes slightly widened. "You're from Slytherin, Edward, and from a rich pure-blood family. May I need to remind you that pure-bloods don't associate with blood traitors and Muggles."

"And yet here you are insulting and talking to Arthur Weasley in the Ministry of Magic." Edward snapped. "As far as I'm concerned, that's also associating."

"At least I don't befriend them, Stark."

"Open your bloody eyes, Malfoy, and grow the hell up."

Lucius slightly scoffed. "Be thankful it's your daughter's birthday. And be glad I won't be speaking any of this to the Ministry. I still have your respect and friendship, Stark, but I will distance myself from you. I won't spread the news that the Starks are now blood traitors."

"Today was lovely, Vivian," Narcissa said as she hugged your mother. Your mother hugged back then pulled away. "Thank you for welcoming us to your lovely home."

"It was nothing, Cissy." Vivian smiled. Narcissa smiled back then looked down at you. "Happy Birthday again, (Y/n)."

"Thank you, Mrs. Malfoy." You smiled.

"Don't call me by that. Just call me Aunt Cissy or Narcissa, okay?" Narcissa grinned and kissed your forehead.

You nodded and smiled at her. "Yes, Aunt Cissy."

"Let's go." Lucius tapped Narcissa's shoulder. Draco stepped forward and smiled at you. "See you tomorrow."

"See you." You grinned. Draco took your hand and kissed it making you blush. You can hear Megan's squeals, your mother gasping, and your father's growl. Draco smirked and let go of your hand, and walked beside his mother.

"Thank you for everything." Lucius turned to Edward, his eyes sending daggers towards your father while Edward was throwing missiles back to him. "Stark."

"Malfoy."

Now, you and your family are in the living room. Your mother is reading a book, your sister is eating sweets, your father is staring at you while you're looking at the window, trying to avoid your father's eyes.

"What in the world just happened back there?" Your father suddenly asked causing your mother to snort while your sister giggled. You coughed and then looked at your father. "Hm?"

"He kissed my hand...?"

"Yeah. Why?!"

"Oh, darling," Your mother giggled and sat beside your father, leaning her head on his shoulder. "He's just being a gentleman."

"Gentleman?!"

"Dad, don't be jelly." Megan teased.

"Shush. I'm not jealous." Your father huffed, crossing his arms causing your sister to laugh.

"It's nothing, dad. He's just a friend." You reassured him, smiling. "And mum's right. He's just being a gentleman."

Your father sighed. "Fine, fine. But please tell me if you have any crushes or a boyfriend."

You nodded. "Will do."

Just as your parents walked away, Megan pulled you outside to talk. "Oh, you definitely have two boyfriends. What a player, (Y/n)!"

You cocked an eyebrow. "Excuse me, Megan Jane, but I don't have two boyfriends."

"Uh, yeah, you do. You have Peter Ambrose and Draco Malfoy. You have to let me see Peter Ambrose so I could judge who's better for you."

You rolled your eyes. "He was here."

"Peter Ambrose was here? Why didn't you tell me?"

"Because you were busy! And besides, it's not a competition, MJ. Peter and Draco are just my friends."

Megan shrugged as she walked away and headed back inside the house. "Oh, I don't know, (Y/n), but if you ask me, I like Draco for you."
