[SEASON FOUR: EPISODE NINE]
[PART TWO]
After Ethan discovered that Cobra Kai was using Miyagi-Do signature moves, he approached a familiar person, Robby Keene, intending to reason with him.
"You so determined to beat Miyagi-Do that you handed over all their secrets to Cobra Kai." He asserted, as the boy turned to face him, his gaze fixed ahead.
"The goal is to win." Keene shrugged. "I did what I had to do."
"Alright, but if winning this tournament is all that matters to you, then you didn't grasp any of Mr. LaRusso's teachings."
"You know, everybody thinks their way is the only way, Mr. LaRusso, my dad, Cobra Kai. The truth is, it doesn't matter which way you fight as long as it works. And I'll use whatever it takes to win."
"Why's that, Robby?" Ethan questioned, raising an eyebrow.
"To get back at your father? Me? Sam? Mr. LaRusso? Hell, the entire world?"
"And if that's the case, I have another Miyagi-Do secret that you can share to your friends. Never put passion in front of principle. Even if you win, you'll still lose deep down inside." Williams explained before walking away from him and back over to his fellow students.
The rest of the quarterfinal matches passed like a blur, with Demetri defeating his opponent. Eli finally rekindled his relationship with Moon and regained his confidence back to win against Kyler.
And Sam effectively utilized Johnny's training in her match against Piper. Now, it was down to the last fight before the semis, with Cobra Kai pitted against Cobra Kai, meaning Robby versus Kenny.
"Ready? And fight!" The referee called out before stepping back. The boys circled around each other. Kenny advanced, launching a barrage of punches, but his opponent blocked them. Finally, he landed a hit, catching the older boy by surprise.
"Point, Payne!"
"Time out." Kreese shouted, prompting the boys to return to their respective teachers. Ethan observed Robby closely, noticing the hardening expression on his face at the words that had just come out of the old man's mouth.
"Are you fighting your friend or your opponent? I thought you wanted to be a champion."
The time out ended, and they returned to the mat. The referee signaled the continuation of the match, and the boys jumped into fighting stances.
"Ready, fight!"
Keene charged forward and delivered a swift kick to his opponent's jaw, causing him to tumble to the ground and earning Robby a point. The boy rolled his head in circles, a sign of his excitement, as Kenny slowly regained his footing. He gulped nervously before assuming a fighting stance.
The two bounced around on the balls of their feet, with Kenny showing more anxiety than his friend. As his opponent advanced with his leg raised. He ducked underneath him just as Robby swung his fist out. The boy gasped in surprise and continued to back away from him, as he kept advanced more quickly.
Kenny attempted to land a punch but the enemy blocked it before striking him in his throat, causing him to fall onto the floor, again. Rubbing his throat, he quickly got back in a fighting stance, rocking on the balls of his feet.
While Robby stepped towards him with both his arms by his sides, Kenny had jumped upwards with his fist raised. However, his opponent moved out of the way, making him stumble forward. He quickly spun around before swinging at him, Robby dodged it and shoved him back.
"No point. Continue."
The boy turned around to look at his friend, his eyes widened with fear. He shook his head before getting back into position and ran forward to throw a punch. His opponent ducked out of the way, bringing his foot back, and landing a kick in Kenny's back. He let out a gasp of pain as he stumbled closer to the mat.
"No point!"
He glared angrily at Keene, his face remained impassive. Holding up one hand into a fist, he used the other to motion his opponent to come forward, challenging him to fight. Gritting his teeth, his opponent charged forward.
Robby jumped up in the air just as the boy was close enough, striking him in his nose, causing the whole arena to gasp silently. Then, not long after, the boy was announced to be the winner.
Kenny quickly got to his feet, clutching his nose with tears streaming down his eyes. He gave him a hurtful look before running off the mat.
"Well, if it isn't Mr. Semifinal." LaRusso remarked, walking up towards Ethan.
"Hey, Mr. LaRusso. Looks like it's me going up against Eli in the semis."
"Yeah." Daniel nodded in agreement.
"Should be a good fight."
"I caught your last match. Couldn't help but notice you circled your opponent."
"Yeah, well. You don't have us catching fish for nothing." He stated.
"I want to thank you and Mr. Miyagi for what you both taught me. I couldn't have gone this far in my life without you two. I'm really gratefully."
"If Mr. Miyagi was here right now, he would be so proud of what you've accomplish." The man said, as Johnny stepped over towards them.
"Williams. It's time to get ready."
"Okay. Bye, Mr. LaRusso." The boy said before walking away to his spot in the arena.
"Good luck, Ethan."
"Thank you."
"You softening Williams up before our match?" Sensei inquired.
"As if you haven't gotten into Sam's head with all your Eagle crap." Daniel retorted.
"You've been training her, haven't you?"
"For getting her to the semifinals, you should be thanking me."
"For turning Sam into someone who can't control her anger?"
"Better then turning my champion into a pussy who starts a fight and then runs away."
"I've trained him longer than you, but I don't care what happens today. Just stay the hell away my daughter."
"Yeah. Stay the hell away from Ethan." He nodded, as they both went their separate ways.
"And now, get ready for our first semifinal match which will be Ethan Williams of Eagle Fang versus Eli Moskowitz of Miyagi-Do."
"All right. Don't right forget to breathe out there. How you feeling?" Daniel asked, noticing the nervousness centered around his student.
"I'm okay." Eli answered, truthfully.
"Not exactly thrilled to be fighting my friend."
"It doesn't help that nobody's ever beaten Ethan either." Demetri pointed out, then turned to look at the expression on his friend's face.
"Sorry, shouldn't have said that out loud."
"At least you know how he'll fight. Because Johnny taught you too." Sam reminded him.
"Listen, don't forget your blocks. Stay patient. All right? You got this." LaRusso said, patting his shoulder reassuringly.
"All right, you can do this. You're beaten Hawk before. Just remember that killer instinct. Take his ass out." Johnny stated, encouragingly.
"What, are you insane? Take his ass out? Hawk is my friend." Ethan said, glaring up at the blonde man.
"He's fighting for LaRusso. He picked his side, and he may be your friend, but if you wanna win this, you have to beat him."
"Whose side are you really on?" The boy asked, his voice tightening in his throat.
"What do you mean?"
"Gentlemen, take your positions."
"I'm on your side, Williams. Always." Sensei said, clapping his shoulder. Williams gave him one last look before stepping onto the mat. They both walked closer towards the referee, with one of them smirking.
"Go, Williams!"
"Finally, a worthy opponent. Not gonna hold back, right?" Eli asked.
"Against you? Not a chance." Ethan chuckled lightly.
"I'll go all out if I have to."
"Good. Neither am I." Hawk said, as the two fist bumped, getting into a fighting stance.
"On your marks. Face me. Bow. Face each other. Bow. Ready? And fight!"
They both moved forward, with Williams throwing the first punch. Eli blocked it as he tried to land a hit, but his opponent blocked it right away. The two boys exchanged punches with neither one of them not landing a hit, as their attacks were all easily blocked.
Jumping up into the air, they both attempted land kicks at one another, but they hit each other at the same time, earning no points. Hawk raised his foot high in the air to kick his opponent. Ethan blocked it before countering it with a kick that sent him straight down to the floor.
"No point, that's a block. Continue!"
"Let's go, Williams!"
The boy quickly ran forward, jumped up off the ground, and spun around in the air to land a flying tornado kick on his opponent. Just as everything seemed to be in slow motion, voices and memories started replaying in his head.
"You're not a kid anymore. You want something, you're gonna have to crawl across the floor. Use your damn teeth of you have to."
"You can do this. I know you can."
"I'm always gonna be here next to you."
"You're gonna be my teacher?"
"No. I'm gonna be your Sensei."
Suddenly a load cracking sound was heard, and Ethan immediately fell on the mat, crying in pain. As Eli kneeled down next to him. The boy felt like his whole head was underwater as everyone gasped in shock. Johnny stepped onto the mat and ran over to his side.
"Medic!"
"Ethan." Elizabeth shouted, reaching her hand out. Then a medic appeared at his side, grasping his waist. Everything just felt out of focus, and he cried out in pain. Daniel watched on in horror, placing his hand on his daughter's shoulder, seeing her look in fear.
"Sensei!"
Robby felt his heart drop to his feet as he watched his former friend scream in pain. Even Sliver was a little scared after seeing his grandson unable to move.
No one really knew what to do as Ethan lay on the floor, unable to move a muscle.
