As Pond sat alone in the quiet of the garden, feeling the weight of his emotions, Phuwin reappeared with two plates of food in his hands. He approached with a playful tone, calling out, "Hey, at least you can help me place these plates. See, my hands are full!"
Pond looked up, surprise evident on his face as he saw Phuwin back again. A feeling of unexpected joy washed over him, and he realized he was genuinely glad Phuwin had returned. He remained still, momentarily stunned.
Phuwin, noticing Pond’s reaction, teased, "What, did you think I’d just leave you here? You’re wrong. I just went to get food for us. You can’t escape my company now...I’ll be here annoying you, and you have no choice but to tolerate my annoying self." He winked playfully.
Pond blinked, slowly coming out of his daze. Phuwin’s light-hearted antics and words brought a comforting warmth to his heart. Despite his inner turmoil, he felt a small smile tug at his lips. "You’re not annoying. In fact, you’re more adorable," he said, shaking his head as he helped Phuwin with the plates.
Phuwin settled down beside Pond and grinned. "Oh, am I adorable? Then what are you, huh? A sulky puppy?" He laughed softly, clearly enjoying the moment.
Pond, initially surprised, decided to play along with the banter. "What? Am I a puppy? In what angle am I looking like a puppy to you? You know, I’m handsome and hot."
Phuwin chuckled, "Yeah, yeah, you’re handsome, no doubt about that. But you’re also a puppy. A sulky, cute puppy."
Pond felt his ears grow warm, a faint blush creeping up his cheeks. He was thankful for the night time cover, which concealed his embarrassment. To hide it, he stuffed a bite of food into his mouth, trying to shift focus away from his reddening face.
They began eating, and Phuwin asked, "Do you have any allergies? I don’t know your eating habits, so I just picked some common dishes. If you don’t like anything, just let me know and I’ll get something else."
Pond shook his head, managing a small smile. "No, I’m alright. I like this."
They continued eating, their conversation filled with playful bickering and light-hearted teasing. The moment felt serene and comforting, offering Pond a respite from the storm of his emotions.
After they finished their meal, Phuwin went inside to drop off the plates. Pond remained outside, taking in the quiet of the garden. By the time Phuwin returned, most of the guests had left, and only the Aydin family remained, preparing to leave as well.
Phuwin approached Pond, saying, "Hey, everyone are getting ready to leave. I think we should go now."
They walked to the front of the house together. As they approached, Earth noticed Pond and immediately scolded him, "Pond, where the hell have you been? I couldn’t find you at the dining table, and you missed the photos with Sora. You know how it looked? Everyone was congratulating her, but her own fiancé was nowhere to be found. What’s this behavior?"
Phuwin stepped in, cutting off Earth’s tirade. "Uncle, I’m really sorry for this. It’s my fault. I was introducing Pond to some friends and business partners. He mentioned that you might be looking for him, but I didn’t listen. I apologize for that."
Earth’s demeanor softened, and he turned to Phuwin with a smile. "Oh, Phuwin, no need to apologize. It’s okay. I’m glad you’re introducing him to your guests."
Phuwin nodded with a smile. Pond, caught between feeling hurt by his father's reprimand and grateful for Phuwin’s intervention, stood in silence.
As the Aydins finished their farewells and began to leave, Pond stayed behind, his gaze fixed on Phuwin. Once the Aydins were gone, Pond quietly asked, "Can I hug you?"
Phuwin didn’t reply immediately but opened his arms to embrace Pond. He wrapped his arms around him and patted his back gently. "Of course, you can."
Pond held onto Phuwin, taking comfort in the embrace. "Thank you, Phuwin. Thank you for everything."
Phuwin chuckled softly, "Aww, don’t mention it. You’re my friend now, so you don’t need to say thank you. And don’t be sad anymore, Puppy Pond." He ruffled Pond’s hair affectionately.
They both pulled back from the hug. Pond gave a small smile, shaking his head slightly. "I’m heading out now. Bye."
Phuwin nodded, "Goodbye, and goodnight."
Pond replied with a warm, "Goodnight," before turning and walking away. Phuwin watched him go, feeling a mix of concern and satisfaction in having been able to offer some support.
