"They called him Der Soldat." Theo explained as he stood infront of an empty tube. "It's German for for 'The Soldier'."
"Wanna know what I think of you in Swedish?" Eli asked him.
Theo cracked a grin. "I'm pretty sure he fought in World War II."
"He was a Nazi." Scott confirmed.
"And an alpha werewolf." Theo pointed out.
"Not the best combo." Eli exhaled, pulling on the collar of his green sweater vest.
"The Dread Doctors were using him to prolong their lives. They've been doing it for decades." Theo explained with a nod of his head, looking between the three. "Actually, probably longer."
"How old are these guys?" Liam squinted his face up.
"Who knows. But wherever they go, he does, too." Theo nodded, locking eyes with Scott as the pair of Betas shared a look.
"So, how do we find him?" Liam nodded his head, eyebrow rose.
"Keeping him alive requires a pretty unique set of conditions." the Reaken boy explained with a faint shake of his head. "There's got to be a power source. It had to be underground and-"
"And on a telluric current." Scott cut him off, finishing his sentence.
He held the map out, letting Theo take it. "Looks like we're going for a hike."
"Where is he?" Scott asked as the four hiked upwards in the woods.
"Thought we were looking for him." Theo said in return.
"You know who i'm talking about." Scott corrected him in annoyance. "I can't believe you let Eli around him. He could have gotten killed."
"Deucalion?" Theo questioned.
"You shouldn't trust him." Scott pointed out, he knew Liam and Eli had been listening in. "No one should."
Liam looked over to Eli, dropping his voice to a whisper. "Did you go see him again?"
Eli shook his head. "I just wanted to."
"Why? Do you know what he did?" Liam asked him quickly. "Did you hear the-"
"Well, yeah. But, still. You have a connection with Scott, it's like that for me." Eli explained, biting the skin on his lips. "Only my alpha is a maniac that might possible try to kill me, that is blind and kinda reminds me of a creepy lizard."
Liam grabbed Eli's elbow quickly, inhaling. "We're close."
Theo and Scott looked back in questioning. "You get his scent?"
Liam nodded his head, Eli sniffed the air, trying to located Mason as Theo stepped in. "Which way?"
Liam glared slightly, sharing a look with Scott. Theo looked in disbelief. "You think you're going to leave me behind?"
"Why shouldn't we?" Eli asked him with a head tilt. "You ruin everything for us."
"I saved you from dying." Theo rolled his eyes.
"Right. After you let the Dread Doctors take me, manipulate me into trusting you, becoming my fake friend, brought me to a dangerous alpha, let him bite me, let my memory get whipped, then let me walk around confused and scared because I couldn't remember a single thing that happened to me, but I knew something was wrong." Eli listed on with a shake of his head. "You deserve to get left behind. I don't ever wanna see you."
"All I wanted was your power. I don't wanna kill you." Theo said back with a crazy look. "Same with Mason."
"Right. And lying to my face by saying you just liked me enough to try and keep me around, after thinking I hadn't inherited the chimera gene, that was all part of it too?" the Foxx boy nodded his head, his heart was racing, the bad type of racing. "You don't deserve any power. You made my life miserable, Theo!"
"Okay, enough." Scott cut in. When he first met Eli, he brought him to the near edge of an anxiety attack, he knew when it was coming along and he could hear it in his heart. "Eli, try to keep your heart steady. Do what Malia said, use your power on yourself."
Malia.
"Who did you see when you put on the mask?" Liam narrowed his eyes at Theo in questioning.
"I already told you it wasn't Mason." he snapped in return.
"Who was it?" Liam nearly shouted.
Theo tossed his hands up. "I saw a man dying in the snow. He was impaled on a spear."
"It's called a pike. Lydia told us the story." Scott shook his head slightly.
"Then the three of you know what it means. Times running out. Where is he Liam? What direction?" Theo demanded an answer, looking toward the blonde.
Liam hesitated, walking left. "This way."
"Jesus." Scott placed a hand on his heart when he turned to Eli, being met with two glowing green eyes. "You scared me."
"Sorry." Eli blinked multiple times to have them fade back to black. "Haven't learned now to control it yet."
"It happens when you start projecting?" Scott asked him with a nod.
"On one person. If it's multiple, like a group, a green glow comes off my entire body." Eli said, biting his fingers as they walked together. "But I can-"
He flicked his wrist, his claws out before having them disappear. "Everything else is in complete control. My power is helping me stay calm enough to control it, but, never when I purposely want to help myself."
"You'll get there." Scott promised him. "Without Deucalion."
Eli looked down. "Sorry I didn't tell you I went to see him."
"It's okay, I know how you feel." Scott nodded his head. "Peter was my alpha, and I felt drawn to him at times, and I wanted to know more. But, I had Derek to help me through it, at times, anyways. He was what taught me everything I knew. It didn't have to do with who bite me."
Eli looked over with a half grin. "You're gonna be my Derek?"
"Well, it's either me or Malia." he said back, a faint look in his eye. "And, Malia is great-"
"She's perfect." Eli hummed with a nod of his head. "But, not half mermaid alpha material."
"When are you gonna let the mermaid thing go?" Liam looked back as he lead the way. "You know that's not what it's called."
"It pretty much means the same thing." Eli called up to him with a head shake. "Are we close?"
"Up here." Liam walked toward a small shed, going to grab the wood before Scott grasped his shoulder.
"Listen." the McCall boy spoke as Liam paused, Eli did the same as he heard a heartbeat from within the wooden walls.
"It's him." Liam confirmed, pulling the door open as the four disappeared inside. Heading down old steps, a green light illuminated the area. "Mason?"
"I can't smell him. The chemicals are too strong." Eli shook his head, circling a corner as his eyes fell onto his friend, a device in the back of his neck, slumped against a tube. "Oh my god, Mason!"
Kneeling down, Liam followed as they tried to gently shake him awake. Eli grabbed his limb face. "Mason, Mason, hey. Wake up. It's Liam and Eli."
"It's connected to him." Scott spoke up, the two looking up at the green liquid in the large tube, a wrinkly man inside, being transferred through the device in Masons neck.
"What is this thing?" Liam asked, examining it with a questionable look.
"I don't know." Theo said.
"Liar." Eli mumbled.
"I swear!" Theo defended himself.
"I can feel it." Mason whimpered, Eli took his hand. "It's in my skull."
The machine started to move, Liams eyes widened. "Don't move."
"Carful." Scott agreed.
"What are they doing to him?" Liam glared back at Theo.
"I don't know." Theo repeated.
"Liar!" Eli rose his voice at him.
"I said I swear!" Theo huffed.
"Guys, let's focus." Scott brought the trio away from a potential fight. "Mason, we're gonna get you out of here."
Eli met Scott's eye. "I can try to take his pain."
Scott nodded, looking at Liam. "Hold him still."
Eli gripped onto Masons hand tightly, Liam grasping his shoulders. Scott braced himself. "All right. I'm gonna try to pull it out."
As he pulled, Eli's veins turned black to try and take the pain. Mason yelled out in pain as Eli nearly fell over at the amount of pain that he also felt. "It hurts!"
Eli squeezed his eyes shut to try and regain that feeling before the horrible pain, inhaling deeply. "I'm sorry."
"No, it's not your fault." Scott shook his head. "I barely moved it."
A clicking sound grew behind them, Eli's heart sinking. It had been so long since he had to hear it again, been so long since he walked in panic and fear. Then, just now, it all hit him again as he blinked in fear, turning around to look at the Dread Doctor just at the doorway.
"They wanted us here." Theo confirmed, backing up some as Eli's racing heart filled his ears, looking to any opening and seeing a Dread Doctor at every one.
"Liam, Eli, try to get that thing out of Masons neck." Scott spoke quickly.
"Eli." Liam tried to get his attention, Eli's heart racing as his heart raced. He was recalling memories. Panic. Dread. Fear. The worst fear. The most fear he'd ever had. "Eli! Help me!"
Masons hand squeezed Eli's hand, making him look back. Mason. Mason was what he needed to focus on. Mason was what was important. Eli's heart started to slow down, swallowed as he nodded quickly, looking for any possible way to help Mason.
"Theo. Theo Reaken." the Dread Doctors spoke.
"He's coming with us." Theo stated.
"Failure...Theo Reaken." the doctors stated.
"I'm not- i'm not a failure." Theo stumbled over his words in the slightest.
"Get out of here." Mason breathed out, grabbing his pair of best friends. "Just go."
"Not a complete failure." the Dread Doctors spoke again. "We learned from you."
"Theo, he's trying to get to you." Scott tried to warn him. "This is what they want, don't give it to them."
"Cheater...Theo Reaken." they spoke again. "Eli."
Eli turned back at the sound of his name, his chest tightened up. The voice rung again. "Saved him. Saved him."
"Scott, we gotta figure something out!" Eli spoke quickly and in fear.
"The mark of a true failure. Repeating the same mistake again and again." the Dread Doctors went on to taunt Theo.
"We're taking Mason." Theo turned to Scott with a serious look. His eyes glew as he faced the doctors again. "And i'm taking what's mine. Let him go."
"You have the entitlement and narcissism typical of your generation. In that, you are a profound success." The Dread Doctor spoken in return, Mason cried out as Liam tried to pull the device again.
"Scott, I-I can't get it out. I don't know what to do." Liam looked back in a panic.
Scott hurried over, kneeling between the two to grab Masons shoulders.
"But your failure taught us one thing. The banality of evil. That you were and would always be an ordinary evil." the doctor stated, standing just a few feet infront of Theo.
"You think i'm ordinary?" Theo tilted his head to the side.
"We believed, to resurrect the perfect killer we had to start with the perfect evil." Eli looked over as they spoke, his eyes darting back and forth. "From you we learned true evil only comes by corrupting something truly good."
"Not something." Scott stated, looking to the betas.
"Someone." Liam corrected as they looked down at Mason.
Eli looked back again as Theo pushed one of the Dread Doctors away from him, trying to punch their mask, failing each time. Another approached, Masons hand gripping Eli's as Liam went to help. The Foxx boy gapped. "Liam, get back over here!"
"Eli!" Scott yelled as he ran off to help Liam, shoving the Dread Doctor back as he punched Liam.
"Guys!" Mason tried to yell for them. "Guys!"
Eli yelled as he got hit in the face, falling to the ground right after Scott. Mason yelled out, getting their attention as they looked over, standing as he yanked the device from his neck. The Dread Doctors all turned as well, leaving the werewolf four alone. "Transformation."
Eli stumbled back as Mason's eyes began to glow a bright blue, black smoke forming all around him. "Mason!"
"That's not my name." Mason growled, the black smoke taking up his face as he grew multiple feet, growling into the air as the Beast took over.
