Forks, Washington is not a town known by many, secludedly engulfed by constant rain clouds and snow where the population stands at a mere few thousand. Had Lilith Bailey been a warm weather type of person, she would've hated being stuck in a place like this, but, in fact, she's quite happy. She hated the constant humidity she felt while in Texas, and the previous states she was in before that. She thinks she'll like the lack of tourism that hits the town because it means it'll be quiet—and quiet means that she can stay in one place longer. There was nothing more that she hated more than moving; the thought of constant packing and unpacking made her blood boil from how often she had to do it.

You see, Lilith Bailey is a witch. She comes from a long family line of witches—a legacy, you may call her. The Bailey family moved around constantly to keep their witch identities a secret for a multiple of reasons; some people were still not accepting of the supernatural, and there were still people out there that hunted the supernatural. Lilith knew there were people out there that liked the supernatural and went looking for them out of curiosity and interest, but, she knew better than to show what she could do for the safety of her family. Sometimes the Bailey family moved to help people out in different areas of the nation—some covens needed help with spells or regeneration of power, some families just needed a miracle when it came to sick family members and some people needed help with other supernatural creatures.

Lilith thought she had seen it all; Forks would no doubt be any different. It would just be like any other town or city they lived in. She would settle in; blend in with everyone else despite her secret, rarely see her family and become isolated before an accident would occur or they finished what they came to do, and they would have to move on, and the cycle would just repeat over and over again.

She loves her parents—she really does, she just never sees them. Her father, Oliver Bailey, worked as a doctor—a legitimate one, but, sometimes he needed to use his magic to help a patient get better when modern medicine wouldn't work as well. He was rarely home because of his choice in profession due to the long hours, but, that didn't mean that Lilith didn't enjoy the moments any less when he was home. Her mother, Sierra Bailey, was a middle school teacher. Her leadership skills often portrayed well in Lilith's home life and in school. Sierra taught many different subjects at many different schools, but, the one she excelled at was teaching magic to Lilith. The two bonded extremely well when it Lilith came of age to learn about magic and it had made them as close as ever—even when Lilith was a papa's girl.

Lilith wiped the sweat off of her brow as she dropped the last box on the ground in her new room. She looked around seeing all the boxes that had been scattered by her and sighed knowing that she was going to have a long night of unpacking and sorting ahead of her. At least in Forks there was rain, and her room had a nice view of the forrest that resided behind her home. They had moved in to a house at the edge of town, as close as possible to the trees for seclusion and privacy. People would rarely head this way as it was the opposite direction to the town centre, and that resulted in less chances of someone accidentally stumbling in and seeing something that wasn't considered human.

The girl pulled out her phone from her back pocket and plugged in her earphones before she began to unpack her things normally. As much as she wanted to use magic to sort everything out, it would drain her too much before she started school the next day; and there was nothing worse than having to start at a new school and try to make new friends while being completely exhausted. She was still learning to control her power, and how to not use as much energy while doing so—she had a lot of magic within her thanks to her parents' combined abilities, but, it was hard to contain sometimes.

There are a lot of rules when it comes to magic and it can feel isolating from the people around her. It wasn't like there were many witches in the places that Lilith moved to that she could talk to—or, if there were, they were too afraid to speak to her because of her family name. The humans could tell that she was different and that she had many secrets because of her identity. Even if she wanted to make friends, she couldn't because some of the rules made it hard to maintain a friendship when she wasn't being completely truthful to them. Her parents enforced these rules on her from an early age; and she was taught to never tell a human what she was, and that she needs to use her magic for good. There were many more and many different loopholes with the rules, but, those two often stuck with Lilith and her parents.

She idolised her parents and never wanted to disappoint them by turning into a dark witch and bring shame onto her family. There are always two sides to everything—including magic—that involve the good and the bad, and the witch community were separated by two sides: the pure witches and the dark witches. The pure witches practiced pure magic and used it for good; often traditionalists and appeased the gods and goddesses of magic. The dark witches were some of the most dangerous witches out there; they had a lot of power that was drawn from dark objects and sacrifices, and dark witches often performed magic for ill reasons. It would take a lot of power from a pure witch to destroy a dark witch because of how much extra magic comes from the dark side—Lilith often hoped that she never encountered one.

Lilith's parents never spoke of them around her. She never knew if her parents ever had to defeat a dark witch or if they once were dark witches—as witches are able to switch sides if they have enough will and power to do so. If she hadn't read about them in books, she wouldn't even know they existed because her parents were most likely trying to protect her from such things.

Oliver and Sierra were well respected pure witches because of their work within the witch community; Lilith was considered a legacy, it often put a lot of pressure onto her, but, her parents were supportive along with motivational. She could tell they worried about her power turning her dark or even getting involved with bad things, but, they always tried to show her the right way to do things and why she should never get involved with those sorts of practices or people. Lilith could never imagine being a dark witch or trying to gain more power than she already had. It scared her, if she was being honest. She had read about the things some of the dark witches had done and it terrified her because she couldn't imagine doing that sort of thing to someone or something just for a grab of power.

The girl flinched, getting startled when her black cat, Dakota, comes brushing herself up against her leg with a small meow. She was trying to tell her something, "What is it, Dakota?" She questioned her pet before bending over to pick her up and cuddle her to her chest, giving the area of Dakota's chest a small scratch to which the cat let out a small purr.

Lilith caught a small glimpse of her watch and did a double take as she looked at the watch's face to see that it was almost one in the morning and the girl cursed, she was going to be so exhausted for school in the morning—even when she was trying not to do that.
She couldn't blame anyone but herself though, she should've just spaced out her unpacking instead of just doing it all in one night, but, her perfectionist self needed it done as soon as possible so she could feel comfortable in her space. It didn't work out in her favour however as there was still so much left to do and it would take at least another day or two to get everything unpacked; she would even possibly still need to go into town and get some things to completely finish decorating her room the way she wanted it.

She decided against choosing her outfit for tomorrow as it would only take more time and would keep her up for longer, and got into her pyjamas before she huddled underneath the grey comforter before cuddling up into a ball and trying to fall asleep despite the constant yelling of thoughts in her brain. Her mind was going a million miles a minute, she was anxious for school—she knew it was going to be the same as all the other schools she had been to but she hoped that maybe, just maybe, it would be different.

She wondered if people would maybe like her and didn't think she was weird or too mysterious; she hoped that maybe someone was like her and she could talk their ear off about her witch struggles. Dakota hopped up onto the bed and patted her way towards Lilith's side before laying down next to her, Lilith reaching up and stroking her fur, "Do you think they'll like me?" She asked her cat, who only responded with a small meow once again.

     She hoped they would.

"Hopefully, they will. Maybe then we won't have to move again." She continued to think out loud, "I can see you don't like to move as well."

She hated moving and she hated moving schools as well. She didn't understand why her parents were adamant about putting her in a public school with how often they moved and force her to try and make new friends who she would have to leave within a few months when she could just be homeschooled instead. That way there was a lower risk of someone finding out and it wouldn't stress Lilith out to try and make friends when she couldn't even be a good friend who would tell people everything. She even hoped that maybe she would just get hit by a car so she wouldn't have to go at all and she could stay home and cuddle Dakota.

Eventually, her eyes drooped more and more until she fell into a deep sleep with Dakota cuddled into her side, also sound asleep.

The next morning, Lilith got dressed for school, adding a warm winter jacket on top of her outfit as the weather was particularly cold and walked downstairs to eat breakfast, Dakota following after her and even crossing in front of her as Lilith struggled not to trip over her. Her parents were downstairs already eating and her mother handed her daughter a plate of freshly cooked bacon and scrambled eggs, and told her to eat up quickly as her father would be taking her to school that day, but, she would have to walk home after as they wouldn't be able to pick her up. School wasn't a far from where they currently lived and Lilith liked walking as it would most likely give her time to think and clear her mind if she was had a bad day or she didn't sleep well the night before, so she didn't mind.

"Remember the rules, hobbit." Her father pointed at his daughter who looked up at him while she chewed, "Don't set anything on fire."

Her face dropped as she huffed, "That was one time, papa! And it was an accident!"

Oliver tried to hide his laughter as he recalled her calling him, completely freaking out about accidentally setting fire to one of the school desks back in Arizona. She said explained that in the middle of a test she had gotten overwhelmed at it just came out of no where and the next thing she knew, the desk near the window caught fire. He was worried at the time about being exposed but now he thought it was hilarious since no one suspected them and thankfully no one was harmed, "Let's just keep the arson attacks to a minimum, okay?" He then looks at his wife, "And that goes for you too."

"Don't drag me into this; I'm an angel." Sierra pouted and crossed her arms, "And in my defence, they were being entirely too rude." Sierra had decided to set fire to a boutique clothes rack back when they lived in Beverly Hills when she went shopping one year, the store clerks were apparently disrespecting her and weren't giving her the proper treatment, so Sierra decided to set a small fire to the clothes rack using her magic and left. No one was hurt, but, Oliver never let her live it down.

"No offence, but, you take the smallest things to heart, mom." Lilith pointed out jokingly, making her mother's mouth gape open in shock that her daughter would even say such a thing. Her mother was dramatic and crazy while her father was usually quite calm, but, the two bounced off of each other well and would always like to joke about each other. Sierra always told her that Lilith took after her father's personality while she took after Sierra's looks which is why Lilith was such a papa's girl.

"Close your mouth. You'll catch flies." Oliver said, shoving food into his mouth.

"I hate you both." Sierra grumbled, "You two better watch out."

"Oh, we're terrified." Oliver mused, pressing a kiss to his wife's cheek and getting up to put his plate in the sink, "Hurry up, Lil, or you'll be late for your first day of school." Her parents were very playful with each other and with Lilith constantly, they liked having the lightness in the air, it made everything feel more comfortable and loving—it made their house feel like a home. The only time they are ever serious is when it comes to teaching Lilith magic and when something is wrong.

Lilith quickly ate the last bite of her food before quickly washing up the dishes and grabbing her shoes to put them on. She then ran by her mom, kissing her cheek, "Bye, mom, love you!" She yelled out and ran towards her father's car and getting in.

Lilith turned to see Sierra standing at the front door waving to her husband and daughter. "Have a good day, you two!" She called, "I'll try not to start any fires while you're away!" She said as the car pulled out of the driveway.

"Don't do it, Sierra, I mean it!" Oliver teased.

"Okay. I won't!" Sierra blew a kiss to her husband teasingly and winked as they drove away from the house and towards Lilith's new school.

Lilith then looked out the window as the trees blurred past and began to fiddle with her fingers, the anxiousness beginning to make its self known once again. Oliver sensed it and looked at her, "You'll be okay, hobbit. They'll love you."

"I hope so." She mumbled. She didn't want Forks to be like the other places. She hoped it would be different.
