THE Carter family, known throughout the outcast world as brave and mighty for defeating the most powerful villain known to outcast. No one knew his name, so he was nicknamed the mayhem, for his power was to take away from those around him and the more he took the more power he acquired. He finally met his match when he went against both Natalia and Thedore Carter, both overpowering him with their abilities, banishing him away through a portal but before he was thrown in, he cursed Theodore. The curse ultimately led to their family falling apart, the curse causing Thedore to fall into the hands of black magic, something very dangerous. He began to go mad, neglecting his family despite her mother's constant need to help her father, never losing hope in breaking the curse. Meredith grew to despise the home she once found comfort in, growing to resent her mother for not leaving her father and resenting her father for doing this to them. At the mere age of 14, she found comfort in the warm manor of the Addams, Morticia and Gomez welcoming her in with open arms. They had been friends with her parents for decades before her father became mad, leading to her close friendship with their only daughter, Wednesday.

Meredith and Wednesday were thick as thieves, Wednesday never questioning the girl's sudden arrival nor her abilities, just staring at her flatly and offering her hand for a quick handshake. They grew closer the more Meredith had begun to show up at their manor, crying and shaking from being at her house with her father after one of his episodes. She practically lived at the Addams estate, even having her own room there beside Wednesday's and even had a few portraits of her up on the family wall. Meredith would forever be grateful to Morticia and Gomez for raising her as their own, never refusing to show her parental love that her own parents had failed to do. They never once questioned her, always protected her as their own, and were always around to shower her in love and support especially when she began to show signs of her magical abilities.

As Meredith and Wednesday began to grow, the more mischief Wednesday had begun to cause, Meredith never far behind. After the 'accident' with those jocks, the two girls were pulled from yet another school, being enrolled into Nevermore high. Morticia and Gomez described it as 'absolutely terrible' and 'morbid', explaining how they hated it there just as they will.

Meredith sat beside Wednesday who stared ahead of her parents, ignoring their words about the academy. Morticia purses her lips and turns to Meredith, staring down longingly at the strawberry blonde.

"You know, Meredith, I just know that you'll enjoy Nevermore academy as much as I did too. It's where I met your mother. " Morticia explained to the young girl who bites the inside of her cheek at the mention of her mother. She hadn't seen the women since her 14th birthday, two years ago.

"I do hope I share the same fun here at Nevermore as you did Tish" Meredith smiles gently at Morticia who smiles widely

"And you'll tell me all about the fun you two will have, right?" She grins

"Of course" Meredith smiles, twisting the rings that adorned her fingers as the car comes to a halt in front of a black large castle

"Oh, look we've arrived at Hell, though I thought I would find it more enjoyable" Wednesday grumbles as she gets out of the car following a giggling Meredith who stares up at the large school

"Geez, this place is huge, better for playing pranks" Meredith winks towards Wednesday who hums

They followed closely behind Morticia and Gomez as they lead them up to the headmistress's office, Ms. Weems who seemed to be waiting for their arrival. She smiles widely at the sight of them, her eyebrows raising towards Meredith almost questioning where her parents were.

"Wednesday Addams and Meredith Carter, a pleasure to meet you two" She crookedly smiles down at the two girls

"The displeasure is mine" Wednesday frowns at Ms. Weems as Meredith smiles widely, waving towards the woman

"Nice to meet you!" She exclaims, sitting down on the other side of Morticia

"Did your mother tell you we were roommate's back in the day? Actually, it was all three of us including your mom too Meredith." Ms. Weems hums glancing around the room

"Speaking of Natalia, where is she?" Ms. Weems looks towards Meredith who shifts uncomfortably

"She unfortunately couldn't make it due to personal matters at home which is why Morticia so kindly offered to drive me here" Meredith says twisting and tugging at her rings and fingers as Ms. Weems hums

"Well, that is quite unfortunate...it seems you've had a very interesting educational journey Ms. Addams. Eight schools in five years and it seems wherever you go, Ms. Carter follows."

"They haven't built one strong enough to hold me, I bet this place won't be any different" Wednesday quickly replies to the woman as Gomez sweeps in to save the tense situation

"I believe what my daughter is trying to say is that she greatly appreciates the opportunity that you've given both her and Meredith" Gomez charmingly smiles

"Nevermore doesn't usually accept student's midterm but given the girl's perfect grades and both the Addams and Carter's long history with the school, we made an acceptance." Ms. Weems nods towards them, Morticia smiling towards Gomez who sighs in relief, grabbing Morticia's hand.

They continue to speak about Wednesday's therapy session until they get to the topic of dorms, Wednesday had been assigned her mother's old dorm while Meredith had been given her own room right across from Wednesday, given her certain circumstances. Ms. Weems led them toward Ophelia Hall where they meet Wednesday's roommate, Enid Sinclair. Gomez eyes widen slightly at the sight of the room "It's so.... vivid"

Meredith lets out a small laugh at the look on Wednesday's face, her eyes lighting up in joy at the sight of so many colors knowing her friend hated it. Meredith looks forward catching sight of Enid, a bubbly and colorful girl who smiles brightly towards them, skipping closer to introduce herself.

"Howdy, roommate!... roommates?" Enid smiles opening her arms for a hug towards the two causing Wednesday to step away from the blonde and Meredith to offer her a fist bump instead

"Not a hugger, got it" Enid smiles uncomfortably looking towards Meredith who smiles at her making her feel a little more comfortable

"It's nice to meet you Enid, my names Meredith and I'll be rooming right across from you two!" Meredith exclaims

"So cool! You're definitely welcome to come in here and have girl's night with us!" Enid exclaims loudly, scaring Wednesday with her overbearing joy.

"Is it too late to move in with Meredith?" Wednesday grumbles to her mother who shakes her head

"You know you can't given Meredith abilities, it's safer for the both of you." Morticia comforts Wednesday as Enid turns to the pale girl

"Are you okay? You look a little pale" Enid worriedly asks

"She always looks half-dead and she's also allergic to color" Meredith snorts as Wednesday ignores the blonde, examining the room further. Enid eyebrows furrow as she looks towards Wednesday, leaning towards the pale girl "Really? What happens?"

"I break out into hives and then the flesh peels off my bones" Wednesday replies flatly, scaring Enid even further than before while Meredith tries to not laugh

"Luckly, we've special ordered the both of you a uniform. Enid why don't you take the girls to the registrar's office to pick up their uniforms and their schedules. Give them a tour along the way" Ms. Weems smiles at the blond who nods her head and leads the girls out of the room and around the school. Meredith was fortunate to be ordered a different uniform as she put up a fight against wearing the vibrant purple that most of the students were seen wearing, she didn't look good in purple with her hair. Besides her family donates a large sum of money to this school for a reason.

Meredith follows the skipping blonde around the school, walking beside Wednesday who looks around the large school, spotting a photo of young Morticia in her fencing gear. Meredith looks around the stoned walls spotting her own mother, Natalia, right beside Morticia, their arms intertwined. Meredith hums in interest, further examining the photo as Wednesday crosses her arms, cutting Enid off.

"You can save the sanitized sales pitch; we don't plan on staying here long" Wednesday says, Meredith nodding her head along in agreement

"The longest we've ever been at a school is six months, Wednesday isn't particularly fond of people and I'm not particularly fond of school" Meredith speaks from beside Wednesday, looking around the large school.

"Why not? This school is for people like us; outcasts, freaks, and supernatural's" Enid asks in confusion

"It was my parent's idea of turning me into a version of themselves" Wednesday speaks

"I just came along for the ride" Meredith shrugs

"Well in that case maybe you can clear some things up. Rumor says that you killed a kid at your old school and your parents pulled string to get you here, is that true?" Enid asks looking back at the two as a mischievous smirk spreads across Meredith's face

"It was two kids but who's really counting?" Wednesday walks faster

"I am" Meredith exclaims holding her book that read "Wednesday's kill book", Enid glances at the large book in fear quickly opening the double doors to reveal the courtyard

"Welcome to the quad!" She exclaims trying to get over the fact that the book was already halfway filled.

"It's a pentagon" Meredith tilts her head looking around at the separating groups who glance towards them

"Let me give you guys a run down on Nevermore's social scene. The four main cliques are Fangs, furs, stoners, and scales." Enid walks them around the quad, pointing towards a group of vampires, werewolves, and sirens. Enid points towards a beautiful dark-skinned girl who was smiling at her friends, her hand turning into blue scales as she touches the water.

"And that girl, Biance Barclay, is the closest thing Nevermore has to royalty... well beside you, Meredith, the Carters are well-known here because you guys are like super-loaded plus your parents are kind of a legend here with their complex abilities and the way they defeated Mayhem" Enid exclaims oblivious to the way Meredith tenses up at the mention of her family. Wednesday notices Meredith's sudden tenseness about the subject of the situation and clears her throat, signaling for Enid to talk about something else.

"Though lately her crown has been slipping lately.... she used to date our resident toured artist, Xavier Thorpe, but they broke up at the beginning of the semester. Reason: unknown..." Enid gossips

Meredith turns, her eyes meeting a pair of green ones, she tilts her head as she gets a good look at him. His hair was the lightest shade of brown reaching his shoulders and framing a chiseled face, he wore the school's purple uniform, and his fingers were adorned with silver rings and a paint brush. She was too distracted to notice the narrowed blue eyes that were focusing in on the two of them. A smirk grew on Meredith's face, she remembered the boy from long ago.

"Meredith, let's go, mother is waiting for us" Wednesday speaks knocking Meredith out of her trance with the tortured artist who was just as entranced as she was

"Yeah, I'm coming Wednesday" Meredith turns around, breaking eye contact with the now interested Xavier Thorpe and the threatened queen bee.

Oh, how will the semester end?
