Author's Note

Okay... so some of you might notice that I haven't updated the story in a really long time, probably half a year. And I'm really sorry it took me this long to be able to say this, but I'm saying it now.

This book is being discontinued.

Before I state my reasons why, I had plans to finish this book, I really wanted to complete this book. Honestly, I love this book more than a lot of things in my mind, and a year ago, it would be all my mind would be thinking about, I loved re-imaging and picturing the future scenes for this book and what it would, could of, become. This story was basically my life, and I didn't want to talk about anything other than this book and to promote it. I wanted to say I just didn't decide to give up on this story on whim and it meant a lot to me.

I also wanted to acknowledge you guys. I have had a history of discontinuing books, but that was when I didn't get much views. This is my most popular book and I'm surprised that anybody has found my story. I've met so many friends from this book that I'm so grateful for. Even people that helped me write the story! I love all of you guys, and I appreciate all the support you guys have given me. I read every (and I mean every) even though I don't always reply, and any time I see any sort of interaction it immediately brightens my day.

Which is why I was hesitant for several months about whether to write an author's note about this book's now official discontinuation. I thought that just leaving it without an author's note would be better, I didn't want to face my shame and disappointment. I started this story on March 19, 2020. This month would have been my story's two year anniversary, and for a year and a half, I continued writing the story, despite struggling with finding the time to write, or how to write, or either personal reasons. And as I got more readers, I grew more and more anxious if there came a time where I would have to discontinue, like other numerous times before. I would be disappointing and failing my readers, I would tell myself, and therefore I never will discontinue this story.

Well here we are today. I know this isn't what you wanted to hear, especially since this is the first update for this book for a long time, but you guys deserved to hear this, not something you would have to keep guessing or assuming until someone asked. This book is being discontinued. Thanks to interacting with one recent viewer, I was able to gain enough courage to write this.

So here's my finals thoughts and also as to why I ended up discontinuing this story:

I enjoyed this journey, even though it had to end. Like I said, I loved writing this story and I love you guys, so thank you so much for everything. This book, however, was emotionally taxing, if you've read the latest chapters, you can see why. This was an especially heavy subject that my hands decided to take up on when I first wrote and thought of this idea, especially since I was a middle schooler at first. Let that fact sink in. I simped for a male twice my age.

Moving on, my school also is, while an excellent school, also has a lot of rigorous classes which makes it hard to find the time to relax and be in the mindset for writing. If not for my Minecraft addiction, I would probably be able to write more for this story, but that's also besides the point.

When I discover a new fandom that I latch onto, I tend to forget or lose interest in the previous fandom that I occupied. In my last chapter, I said that I was now in the Black Clover fandom (which is in desperate need of fanfiction.) I am currently writing a fanfiction for it, which I started around the time I posted the last chapter. If you would like more details or would like to read, you can ask me. As I wrote more and more for my Black Clover fanfiction, it just felt so refreshing to be writing new content that wasn't downright depressing at the start. (But I'm a sadist and masochist so there's gonna be some serious angst in there of course.)

It became my comfort fic, something that Dead Pulse has never been for me. Dead Pulse was a way to let my darkest and saddest imaginations run wild and free, which I loved, but it didn't necessarily feel good to write it- it was a black hole that sucked in every bit of happiness while writing it. Regardless, I was proud of my story, it was something I created with my own hands and it was my own effort and hard work that was being viewed and praised for. I was proud of all the effort I forced myself to push through, to judge every chapter and say whether or not it was good enough- it had to be perfect. It felt a little more and more forced everytime I opened up my Google Doc to write this.

Another reason why it was hard to continue this story was because of technical difficulties. Sometime early/mid last year, some keys on my keyboard were not working. I couldn't just get a new keyboard, as it was a laptop, but also because it wouldn't really make sense to get a new one when most of the keys were functional. The buttons that were nonfunctional were my left control, my tilde key, my volume buttons, etc. Now, I mostly function on shortcuts when I use my keyboard so the fact that my left control button is completely nonfunctional is really depressing. The most annoying part was that my 'e' and '3' key worked occasionally. Do you know how annoying it is to have to spam your 'e' key for 10 seconds just so you could type down ONE 'e'? Eventually I just started copying and pasting the letter. You know it's sad... when you have to copy and paste a letter.

I think that's all the reasons that led me to discontinuing. TLDR (Too Long, Didn't Read), school is a bitch, found new fandom and lost interest in BNHA, Dead Pulse was emotionally draining, and technical difficulties. Now that I've stated all of this, I do want to say one thing.

I am proud. I am so proud of this story it hurts while writing this. But despite all the reasons I've stated above, and the amount of times I've said it in this author's note: I love this story.

Part One (From prologue to Chapter 30) is 158 pages long and has 65,715 words in total. Part Two (From Chapter 31 to 40) has 90 pages and 40,984 words. That's around 105k words. That's a lot for me. This is the longest story I've ever made. And the writing here? Especially in the second part? Immaculate, I surprise myself a lot. Part Two had 110% of my effort there, even though the gaps between each upload was long.

And now onto the last thing:

I figured since I was going to discontinue this story, I probably won't be able to come back to it. Soooo... not only will I allow adoption for this story but... I will also write my agenda for the plot I had in mine here. For those that do want to adopt this story, you don't have to go this way at all, but it does answer questions and give more context for the questions not yet answered while in the forty chapters. Please ask for my permission and give me credit for the original idea, but otherwise, have fun ^_^.

On with the agenda. I'll just put bullet points instead of full paragraphs.

Y/N's and Aizawa's background:

Y/N's biological father went to get the milk and when her mother remarried, her step father was abusive.

Y/N's quirk is called Pulse, which allows her to either speed up or slow down someone's heartbeat. However she cannot change the pace of a non-moving heart (meaning she can't revive someone that's dead.)

In a quirk accident, Y/N killed her mother because she wasn't aware of what exactly her quirk did, and eventually led her mother in the 'advanced heart failure stage' which is then how she died. (This is most likely not scientifically accurate at all, but neither are superpowers.)

The reason why Y/N committed suicide was because she couldn't handle everything going on. Aizawa was her lifeline in an abusive household and in a class that just harrasses her. After Aizawa and her got into a fight and isolated her from his friends, she became alone and depressed, and her stepfather used this as an opportunity to kick her out. This led to homelessness and when she couldn't take it anymore she decided to kill herself.

What led to the fight between Y/N and Aizawa was that Y/N confessed to her accidental killing of her mother. Y/N internalized it that it was her fault and that she was a killer, and Aizawa, still dealing with the grief and mentally messed up from the death of Shirakumo reacted negatively as a defensive measure. If he discouraged her from being a hero like he was, he could protect her from dying the same way Shirakumo did because of his own incompetence.

Y/N Family Background:

Stepfather is a random dude- not really there for anything other than to give Y/N more trauma.

Her biological father is the character "Father." His background is kind of an interesting one. I think that All For One is one or two hundred years old, and therefore he probably has seen a lot of people. Before Shigaraki, he had a previous successor that he gave a quirk- this would be called Internal Manipulation, which in short, would be able to manipulate the person's internal organs and systems through touch. (Very OP.) However, this successor decided to take upon his own path, however he would still serve All For One if needed, which All For One allowed. Their goals are both different, however they have the same short term goals. They want to rid society of heroes. "Father" wants to get rid of heroes and villains, while All For One just wants to rule over. "Father" is disguised as the Original Character from Chapter 20 that would be named as "Hirai Takashi."

Takashi's future role would act as the main antagonist for Y/N and Aizawa, as he's trying to control and have Y/N as a pawn for his number one goal. That was why the Takashi Company (which I introduced as a Support Course company) was interested into Aizawa and fixing up his capture weapon: He wanted to have a way where he could secretly watch and record Aizawa, and what best way to do so by rigging up his capture weapon? Takashi was aware of Y/N and Aizawa's previous relationship, so if anything were to go wrong (especially since Aizawa and Y/N has now interacted with each other), he would be able to use this as a chance to know more about the enemy as well devise a way a solution should such a problem like Y/N regaining her memories arise.

"Brother" is Y/N's half brother. While I don't have a name for him, I wanted him to be a villain turned hero later. His quirk, which was what caused the memory loss on Y/N, made him immediately interested in Takashi, who wanted to train him and use him as well. Since "Brother" had never had any other type of interaction other than with Takashi, he doesn't know much about the world and only listens to his father because that's all he knows how to. Eventually he would help Y/N in a later plot but I forgot it to be honest.

Y/N's Villainy:

Your first question after Chapter 30 was probably "Well how is she alive if she died?" Good question. Simple answer? Takashi's quirk. Unlike Y/N, if he chooses to, he could revive some back from the dead (but only if the corpse is very recent.)

Why did they force her to lose her memories? Well, it'd be harder to convince her onto the path of villainy if she remembered everything, plus there's always the case where she could rebel. In order to prevent this, they decided to "erase" (as you can see, it's not completely erased) her memories and re-educate her in a way she couldn't develop a consciousness that would allow her to be able to reject or rebell.

Y/N was trained to be the perfect soldier, to be undefeatable and unwavering regardless of the quirk she was up against. That meant raising tolerance against all kinds of things, Y/N was tortured in order to raise her pain tolerance. That's why she has so many scars.

Y/N was traded to the League of Villains as Shigaraki needed more members and Takashi would gain one favor from All For One. (What that favor was, I don't know.)

What happens now going on from forward:

The last chapter I wrote that she would be going to UA for probation. Y/N would be working as a TA for Aizawa, not only because of her connection with Aizawa but also because she would be interacting with students that would have been around her age when she died. Ever since she's been revived from the dead, she hasn't been able to emotionally mature ever since her death– which is around Class 1-A's age. So this is not only a way to keep a close eye on her, but also a chance for her to gain as much normalcy as possible, especially considering her incredibly tragic past.

Y/N was going to date the Doctor from when she was in prison. Before you get mad at me, no this is not permanent, and yes, this would have been an Aizawa x Reader book. I wanted Y/N to get a glimpse of a healthy romantic relationship with someone, however, it would also be a little bit unhealthy. This would be because she realizes that she doesn't have affectionate feelings for the Doctor, only the imaginary image of Aizawa and them being in a relationship. They would break up, but the Doctor would still be there in support for Y/N. (Look, at this point, I had to give Y/N at least one mentally healthy and emotionally healthy friend.)

Y/N and Aizawa's relationship would eventually improve. It starts off really slow, but when confessions and feelings are shared, it goes a lot smoother.

The next bits after this are a bit fuzzy and I don't remember too many details, which is why I said for those who want to adopt that they don't have to follow this.

Later, Y/N would be caught up in a villain attack. Aizawa spots it in the news and rushes to save her, which he does, but becomes critically injured and goes into a coma. This is when Y/N realizes at this point, she doesn't have any more time to be stalling on her feelings for Aizawa and she'd do everything she can in order to fill Aizawa's responsibilities. She teaches Class 1-A, and is trying to get her hero certificate. When Aizawa does wake up, they both confess their feelings, and then happy ending afterwards. Like I said, my memory is really fuzzy after this point, I don't remember what I had in mind for Takashi or Brother.

I think that's about it. Oh yeah, also my oneshots in "Soft Boi" are also up for adoption.

Thanks so much for reading. I appreciate the support so much. Thank you to every one of you, I love you guys. I hope you can understand.

I will not be on Wattpad a lot anymore. I read primarily on Archive of Our Own, and I still read BNHA fanfics, just not any x Readers. My account is the same one as my Wattpad user is: EdgeLordCreator. As for my work in progress Black Clover fanfic, it is not posted on any public website yet, and I will probably post it on Archive of Our Own when I'm ready to publish it. If you are interested and want to read it here however, I'll post it here. Again, if you want details and are interested in my Black Clover fanfic, you can comment or ask me privately in messages.

If you want to talk to me, you can message me on any one of these apps. (I'm usually under the same username.)

Archive of Our Own (I'm still getting used to Ao3, so I would recommend using the other apps.)

If you still have questions about the book or me, comment it here. If not, this is the end of the book now. Thank you.

Sincerely,
Edge
