'When you jump, you fall.
It's not the kind of blood-curdling, tear-spilling, life-threatening dive like how you expected... More of a weightless glide a the universe takes you god knows where.
You're floating for maybe a minute after the initial dip, arms full of your travel supplies as you stare down into dark abyss. You estimate you're somewhere between worlds. Stuck in a galactic expanse that stretches on beyond your comprehension. Part of you wonders if it could even logically end.
Then, without warning, you're falling again, a scream pulling itself free from your lips as you plummet from high above clouds. Face first, tears flying from your eyes at the high velocity, you fall, and fall and—
Thump!
Painfully, you roll across a soft, bouncy landing. Your neck and shoulder sting from the awkward way you fell, but you're content just to be alive and away from the OmegaVerse Jr.
Gritting your teeth, your push yourself into a sitting position. Your items are scattered around you from your little tumble,'
—Draft for what would've been the next chapter: 'Welcome to Nowhere'
In short, I wanted this to be an adventure mystery type story. The last book was mainly centered around Horror and the Reader, their adventures, the people met, their hardships. (And, even though I slander my past self a whole lot, it was pretty solid storytelling at its core.) I was going to exercise atmosphere and pacing for this book mostly, but it seems it won't really come to be.
With a little more depth, the reader would've traveled around the multiverse trying to piece together their moral standing. Basically 'see the horrors' 'see the suffering' type stuff. Being guilt tripped into doubting themself, but they don't like Dream. Dream is... odd.
At the same time though, both sides are searching relentlessly for them. They can't stay anywhere too long without being found. (There's a very messy scene I wrote at like 3 am where horror catches a glimpse of them and reaches out, only for them to look him directly in the eye and fleeing of fear.)
They read their new book, finding the 'secrets of the universe.' Which, for anyone wondering, is that there is no right or wrong choice. Sure, there's good and evil, but in the end, a hero/villain must rise to end the rain of opposition. Nightmare and Dream are cast in strange, dual-toned descriptions, speaking of Nightmares soft affections and appreciations amidst his lust for chaos, death and destruction. Meanwhile, a more gnarly, twisted side of Dream is presented alongside his insatiable hunger for nothing but fairness, kindness, and goodness in the world.
(This is reference to all that freaky shit reaper was saying lol. 'Who all dies, the good the bad the pretty the ugly the rich the poor blah blah blah' I think they went over it some already, but yeah, death is a neutral power.)
And the map of destiny shows them where to go next btw. At some point I wrote them landing in a literal corn maze they had to find their way out of lol. (They go around and see the horrors and speak to the afflicted and learn the tales of the tragic and live in fear of Nightmare with everyone yaaaay)
Anyways, the action climbs around a point where the reader concludes that they are sort of a mistake. Loved by villains. Wanted by heroes. Yet, it seemed so wrong to walk into either's arms. Reading the book was supposed to correct their moral compass, but it's practically spinning with all the information they've absorbed.
They make a choice, that they'll have to fix the world themself. Not quite by facing the forces at play, but perhaps just fixing what little they can.
It's at that point that the climax ensues, Dream and Nightmare stumbling upon them at once. (Not THEM but like their lil gangs) there's a fight and portals and yelling and whirlwind of emotions that sweeps you up and dumps you into the hands of..........
Evil! Hi horror.
Then, delicious angst. You know so much. Too much. Yet, not a lot. So you beg for answers. The book depicts monsters, beasts, animals. You have to know if the so... domesticated people you live among are like this at their hearts. How long it will take before such dangerous behaviors start to endanger you.
Meanwhile, Dream is beyond livid. For the second time, you were there. You were in his arms. Curse his brother. Curse his slimy, disgusting, cursed brother. (I feel like it's appropriate to mention now that the black stuff leaking from him was liquid hatred from how intensely he was hating on Noot lmao)
There's only one more thing that he can employ, but he's missing a piece to his grand design. A piece he's sure his brother has.
However, his brother is being yelled at by a terrified tiny human who's been nothing but struggling for the last few months so far from home. He was going to smother you quiet until he heard the things you said. The looks on everyone's faces. There wasn't guilt, no, but something else. Hurt. If anything, they thought it was quite obvious, their true natures.
You storm off and have to think. It's petty maybe, but it's for a reason.
Weeks go by... rumors of Dream brewing a super weapon stirring nightmare. The grand design. And he's only missing one piece (that horror has.) But they don't know that. It's just tension man... tension..
Djeowekoejeiew and I'm sorry, but that's kinda as far as I got lol. It was a good idea tho :)
Anyways, thanks so much for reading. Hope you enjoyed.
Perhaps I'll see you on a different social media, or in Darkness and Dread.
