Train Madness
🍒
7th of March 1958
It was getting a bit more nicer outside, so Paul and I were just walking and talking till whenever we decided where we wanted to stop at.
"Hey what's going on with George? I haven't heard from the kid." I asked.
"His parents have been hard on him since that party we had for John, y'know cus the kid was drunk couldn't even stand when we tried to get him home." Paul laughed.
"That party was something." I smirked as I thought about it.
"Enough about that. How do you feel about John?" Paul asked.
"Oh not this again, I'm over it completely I mean he's just a friend." I haven't spoken about it really since it happened and the day after when they were teasing about it.
"Like I'm supposed to believe that." Paul scoffed.
"Honest." I lied.
Of course I still had feelings for him, but now I just have to calm it down a bit. Him and Cyn seem serious about each-other.
Paul and I kept talking about other things and laughing, joking around with each other.
"Wait is that John?" I pointed out across the street.
Paul squinted and looked in direction I was pointing.
"It is John. John! Over here!" Paul yelled out for his attention.
John kept looking around, he didn't have his glasses on so this will be awhile. He looked around like a lost puppy until he finally noticed us waving wildly.
"Oh there you are!" John smiled as he was crossing over.
Negligent to look both ways John almost got hit by a car!
"Look out!" Paul and I said at the same time warning John.
John jumped a bit at the car almost injuring him and being about 1inch to hitting him.
He patted the front hood of the car and continued to cross to us.
"John you gotta put on your glasses." I warned.
"I was fine, I almost got killed but I didn't. See I'm standing." John said as he put his arms wide open.
"Glasses look lame on me anyway." John shrugged.
"I rather look lame than dying for looking cool." Paul pointed out.
"That's you son." John said as we all walked together.
"Anyways we were just talking about you and all of a sudden you just appear, that's been happening quite a lot lately." Paul noticed.
"Oh what were you talking about then?" John asked as he looked between the two of us.
I glared at Paul trying to hint to him not bringing up the past conversation.
"Uh— nothing really about uh y'know your hair."
Nice one McCartney...
"What about my hair?" John asked defensive.
"Nothing we like it a lot." I smiled saving Paul from that terrible excuse.
"You two are acting weird. I'm just gonna ignore it." John shrugged.
"Okay, so where were you headed out to today?" I asked.
"I was headed to your place, but now the 3 of us can go on the train." John had something planned out.
"Why would we do that?" Paul asked.
"And what train?" I asked as well.
"The train that's being loaded up at the docks, I bet there's one empty car we could ride in." John smirked.
"Again for what?" Paul asked again.
"You'll see it'll be a surprise, a good one at that."
"Okay but we have to bring George." Paul demanded.
John of course had something to say about that.
"What would we need that kid for?"
"Because he's my friend, and so what if he's about 3 years younger. C'mon let's head to his house." Paul leaded the way.
LATER
We all arrived at George's house, I've never actually been here before his place seemed nice.
Paul walked up and knocked on the door faintly.
"How in the hell are they supposed to hear that Paul?" John walked up and knocked harder.
"Was that really necessary?" I asked John.
John looked me and gave me that funny look, the one where he makes his jaw seem bigger with his tongue.
Soon the door opened, revealing George Harrison.
His eyes widened a bit when he seen the 3 of us.
"What are you doing here!?" George whisper shouted while he closed the door a bit more from being wide.
"Who is that at the door?" Someone called from in the house.
George looked behind him.
"Its the mail man!" He replied and darted his head back to us.
"Come along with us it's a surprise." Paul spoke quickly.
"Well I don't know if I can go we're having dinner. Maybe you can wait a bit and I can sneak out my window." George said quietly.
"Bloody hell just come along." John interjected and took his arm quickly and we all ran despite hearing George's parents yelling after him in the background.
Once we turned a corner, we stopped running and walked together the 4 of us.
"Whatever the surprise is I hope it's bloody worth it." George shook his head.
"Alright if we keep walking this way we should make it to that train." John leaded the way.
George quickly darted his head to Paul and I with a confused face.
"Why the hell are we going on a train?" George asked.
"He won't tell us." Paul shrugged.
"How far are we going?" George asked.
"Stop being a baby it's not that far." John seemed very nonchalant about this.
We had finally made our way to the train John and the rest of the lads went in the empty train car, I was the last one to get up on it.
I tried to put my leg up over it and get up on it.
John and Paul quickly came in assistance and pulled my arms.
"I got it lads." I smacked their hands away, and continued to try and get up their despite my struggle.
The lads sighed and just watched me struggle to get up on the train car.
"Finally ready for us to help you?" John asked impatient.
I nodded my head, and John and Paul quickly got me up there.
"You don't have to do everything by yourself Cher." George pointed out.
"I nearly had it if you lads would've waited."
John snorted.
"Okay dear you had it." John said as he batted his eyes dramatically.
"What do we do now?" I asked as I sat down.
"We wait for the train to leave." John replied as he sat down.
"And how long will that be?" Paul asked still standing with George.
"We'll find out."
"Really John?" George said frustrated.
"Yes really, if I could predict the future I would son but I'm afraid it just isn't possible." John couldn't have cared less.
Soon the train started to move, and Paul and George both stumbled from the unexpected movement.
"See I told you, don't worry now sit down."
They both sat down, by each other.
As the train went a bit faster the cool air started to hit us a bit making goosebumps appear on my arms.
"Let's play a game." George said dully.
"Kids... always wanting to play games." John said almost as if he was reminiscing.
"You do realize there's only a 3 years difference between you and me I'm not 7." George said annoyed.
"Whatever let's play a game then." John sighed.
"Truth or Dare?" I asked.
"Alright we'll play that, who goes first?" Paul asked as he looked at the 3 of us.
"Paul you go." John pointed.
"Alright..."
As time went by giving each other dares we all got tired of it and took a break from it.
John scooted closer to me as we both talked while Paul and George joked around with each other across from us.
"How is everything at home?" John asked, he wouldn't have known really because he stopped visiting me a lot.
"Well my mum moved out, that's why I took the job at the diner to take care of the house." I explained.
"That's why you worked there? I'm sorry, I should've been asked."
"No it's alright you're a busy bloke right?" I laughed.
"Well the band is going better than what I expected, I mean I thought this band was just a summer thing but if we make it on time tonight than this can really be a success." John smiled happily.
"Wait is the surprise for the band? What you lads have a gig or something?" I smiled looking up at his hazel eyes, you can tell the band is really something he enjoyed.
"I said too much." John jokingly put his hand over his mouth.
"John Winston Lennon." I smiled as I put my head on his shoulder.
"Sherelle Baker." John replied.
"I'm glad you're in my life." I cheesed.
"I hate that you're in mine." John cheekily teased.
I slapped his thigh playfully in response.
John laughed and put his head on mine.
He then jerked up
"This is where we need to get off!" John cheered as he got up.
Suddenly we all got up with him.
"Well how are we going to get off?" Paul asked.
"We jump!" John looked down as he peeked his head out the train car.
"Are you mad?" George suddenly got louder.
"John we could die!" I whined.
"No ones dying Cher, we will be fine it's all dirt and grass down there anyway." John shrugged.
"No you've gone too far John." Paul said sternly.
"There's no other way, we have to get off now or we'll be late!" John rushed.
"Late for what exactly?" George asked with his hand on his hip.
"Never mind that, let's just all hold hands and jump out together! It's not that far down." John said with his hand out.
"This is idiotic but I'll do it anyway." Paul shrugged giving up on arguing with John.
John held my hand, I held Paul's hand, Paul held George's hand and we were ready.
"Okay on 3 we jump okay?" John spoke loudly over the loud tracks.
We all nodded our heads and looked down nervously at the ground.
"1...2...3" We all chanted at the same time, but none of us moved and stood still.
"C'mon we have to grow a pair if we want to get down." John rushed
"Okay okay on the count of 3!" I yelled and closed my eyes.
"1....2...3" We both then jumped and let go of our hands as we made it to the grassy cold ground.
We all were laid out panting, after a couple minutes the train was gone leaving us in complete silence.
"Never again I'm traveling with Lennon." George
sighed.
