Chapter 13: Player types
According to Phenomenon of the Game, a Soviet book written by Vladimir Voroshilov published in 1982 and one of the earliest books about competitive ChGK, and therefore written before there even was an organized federation for competitive ChGK, there are five types of players:
The generator of ideas. Ideally a generator of ideas should be able to come up with several ideas under time pressure.
The mastermind. A mastermind should, ideally, possess a large knowledge base across a variety of topics.
The controller. A controller should, ideally, organize all threads of discussion and then sort out the ideas for selecting their final answer from the ideas submitted by the others.
The soul. A soul maintains a lively and unconstrained atmosphere at the table.
The brainpower. A brainpower should be kept in reserve until a certain point and is then capable of taking the discussion in a new direction.
Ideally you should have 1 controller, 1 soul, 1 generator of ideas, 1 brainpower and 2 masterminds. However, building your team based solely on differences in players' knowledge base is strongly discouraged, as it's often difficult to create synergies between such players if personalities are not accounted for.
