Wattpad, Day 1: The reading man's DevianART

So, Wattpad. That thing everyone of your friends uses, and the school allows on your tablets even though it has a pocket messaging app built in. This is a strange place, so the following is just my first-day views.

By far the most dreaded thing for me was the "Select 3 Books You Might Like" bit at the beginning of making an account. I get that teens use this a lot, but DEAR DEADPOOL THERE IS SO MUCH FANFICTION. Some of those friends that convinced you to join in the first place might write some. Please, authors, if you want people to read your story, and say, it's based on a video game.... Just say humor or something. Every other community on the web despises fanfiction, so please, just.... stop.

And another thing, in the app, isn't weird why an E-Book reader requires you to scroll down? Logic at its finest.

I think the best thing to compare this strange new world to is deviantART. It has amazing works, sure, but they are outnumbered by half-decent ones. Even if I end up being hypocritical here, just watch I Hate Everything's video on DeviantART, and you can generally see my point:

But it isn't all bad. I can be pretty cool to read some of these stories, or scroll through pages of jokes. But by far the biggest thing I'm amazed at is how open the community is. I don't think I could share half the details I've seen on some people's tagging pages for my life. Seriously, it gets a little creepy how much people share. Then again, the NSA already knows.... and so does the Illuminati. Also, Wattpad devs, just copy Microsoft Word for your layout. It's pretty confusing for us n00bs. I mean, highlighting to make bold text and stuff? That's as bad as the Apple Notes App; because IT IS the Apple Notes App.
