Chapter 7-Nightmares
I see blackness. Then, white light. Suddenly, a room comes into view. A woman is on the floor, in chains. A man walks up to the woman and lifts her head. I gasp as I realize that it is Grandma Sally. "Oh, Sally. I'm afraid your son will never come to save you," the man tells Grandma.
Grandma glares at him. "Now, you have to come with me. If you do anything to harm me, I will hurt you," he tells her.
He drags her forward but she brings her leg out. It catches him on his back and he falls down. He growls. He kicks her on the stomach and she falls down on the ground, spitting blood. The man continually kicks her on her stomach. I look away. "Now, you aren't going to do anything," the man says.
I look back and see a puddle of blood around her. She's barely conscious. I start crying. The man drags her on the floor and he puts her arms in chains. The man walks to the table and grabs something. Its a gun. He brings it closer to her and he says, "No one is going to save you."
The man hits her upside the head with the butt of the gun. Her head falls limp on her shoulder. "Grandma!" I say and start sobbing. Then, it changes to a different dream- no, nightmare. Everyone I love is scattered around me, dead. Blood is flowing from many wounds on each person.
"No," I whisper. "No, no, NO!"
The closest person to me is Dad. He has a big hole in his stomach.
"DAD!" I scream. Then everything goes dark.
Every color imaginable pops up in front of my vision. Soon they just form into browns and greens. The earth. There is nobody, just a huge monster.
"Who are you?" I whisper.
"The Monster, as you call me," his deep, rumbling voice says.
"Why are you doing this to me?" I scream.
"You try to take me down, but you won't," he says, ignoring my question. "You will die with the rest of your family and friends!"
He swings his massive hand and I scream. His hand smacks into me and I go flying. I hit a wall and everything goes black once again. It stays black for a long time. Some colors dance across my vision. Some people dance across my vision.
Dad, Mom, Seb, Hunter all race across my line of vision and I try to hold onto them. I feel myself slipping into nothingness.
"Help me!" I yell at the people racing across my vision.
"Carmen, come on, wake up!" I hear Seb say.
"I'm trying!" I yell.
"Come on! You can do it! Just open your eyes!" I hear Dad yell.
"Daddy, I'm trying!" I say, sobbing. I feel slight pain in my stomach. My eyes fly open and I try to sit up. Pain races through my stomach. I jerk my head around, looking for anyone. I see Hunter staring at me in shock. "Carmen?" he whispers.
"Hunter," I croak out.
He sprints out of the room. Soon, I hear a lot of footsteps. They race into the room and Hunter, Raphael, and Sebastian run in. "Carmen!" Sebastian yells.
He comes over to me and engulfs me in a hug. "Ow!" I say.
He let's go of me and says, "Carmen, how are you?"
I shrug my shoulders. "How long was I out?" I ask him quietly.
"Two days," Raphael says.
"Oh my gods. Where's Mom and Dad?" I say, suddenly remembering my nightmares.
"They are at the Poseidon cabin. Why?" Raphael says.
"I need them and Chiron," I quietly say.
"We'll go get them," Hunter says, referring to him and Raphael. They leave and Sebastian looks at me.
"What happened to me?" I ask, looking at my stomach.
"You fell on your sword," he says. I start laughing.
"Why are you laughing?" he asks, frowning.
"My clumsiness gets me hurt," I say.
"Well, something hit you on the back. That's how you fell."
"Oh." Mom and Dad come running through the doors.
"Carmen! You're awake!" Mom says, tears rolling down her face. Chiron comes trotting in, looking a little awkward.
"I need to tell you three something," I whisper to them. "I had terrible nightmares. One was about Grandma Sally getting beaten. Another was one of them was about the Monster."
"What'd they do to Mom?" Dad says.
"He kicked her many times and then knocked her unconscious but hitting her on the head with a butt of a gun," I whisper.
"We have to find her! We need to go save her!" Dads yells, looking at Chiron.
"You will soon. Now, Carmen, can you tell me what The Monster said?" Chiron says gently.
"He said that we won't be able to take him down and that I will die like the rest of my family," I quietly say.
"What does that mean?" Mom says, sniffling.
"I don't know. Let's just leave Carmen alone for now and let her rest," Chiron says, noticing Serena coming through the door. They all leave while Serena says,"We were really worried! I'm glad you're OK."
"Thanks. How long do I have to stay in here?" I ask.
"I'm not sure."
"K, thanks," I say and lay my head down.
"Here, have a little piece of ambrosia," Serena says, coming towards me.
"OK." I grab the piece and stick it in my mouth. The pain in my stomach goes away and I close my eyes, sleeping coming even though I don't want to go to sleep. No dreams or nightmares disrupt my sleep.
