Keith grunted as his lion jolted. "Quiznak!" He hissed, then smiled as there was a soft, high-pitched, alarmed gasp over the com.
"Mommy! No bad words!"
"Sorry, sweetie!" Keith crooned, dodging a blast. "But I can say as many bad words as I like when fighting the Galra!"
Lance squawked indignantly. "No! No, no, no! Not even when fighting the Galra, Rosie! No bad words ever!" Keith chuckled while their daughter giggled.
"Alright, we're not getting anywhere as individuals!"
"I said that five minutes ago, Shiro." Hunk muttered and Keith grinned as Shiro shrugged.
Shiro leaned forward. "Time to-!"
"Form Voltron!" Children shrieked and cheered.
"I was going to say time to take a nap." Keith purred, almost able to see the way his daughter physically deflated down the stairs from Allura's stand as she whined pathetically.
"But, mommy! This is the best part!"
"No but's. Naptime."
"Naptime for all of you, now that I think about it." Allura mused and her children all started to cry.
However, Keith could hear the twins chattering as they left the command center to head to their room. He guessed with Shiro as their father, they were bound to be good, obedient children.
But, Shiro's third child was much less like him and more like his mother, even though he was only four months old.
Allura shooed the children out, then resumed her duties once the door was shut. "Right. Form Voltron!"
~
"I'm beat!"
"Ugh, same!"
Keith shook his head once he was free from his helmet. He purred as he was embraced from behind.
"How's my perfect, amazing, wonderful husband doing?" Lance mused, kissing Keith's neck.
"Mm, I'm still perfect and amazing and wonderful? Even being all sweaty and tired like this?"
"Of course."
Keith laughed. "Well, I think after a quick rinse, I'm headed off to take a nap with Rosie."
Lance nodded and yawned. "Me too."
Hunk huffed, taking his helmet off. "I'm gonna skip the rinse and head straight for nap." Katie nodded in agreement, but still headed towards the showers with Shiro trailing behind her.
The blue paladin sniggered, elbowing Hunk. "Dude, you're the sweatiest of all of us. Go rinse off, man."
The yellow paladin shrugged, but then did as suggested.
~
"I love you!" Lance sang as they walked through the halls, hand-in-hand. Keith purred as he was nuzzled.
"I love you, too." He murmured, turning as their door opened.
Keith expected a full-force crash into his legs or at least a soft snore, but the room was silent. Lance noticed, too.
The red paladin waited a tic, then snuck over to the bed. "Rosie?" He patted the blankets, but found no child underneath them. "Rosie!?" Keith pivoted and rushed to the closet and bathroom. He searched both. "Rosie!"
"Shit!" Lance cursed. "Roselyn! Roselyn, you get in this room right now!" He shouted into the hallway.
"Lance, she always comes in here!" Keith grabbed his husband's arm, head swiveling from side-to-side. "She's always in here- why isn't she in here!?"
Lance took Keith's hands. "Calm down, Keith." Lance kissed his knuckles. "I'm sure she just went to lay down with Lilyanne or Hikaru and Iris."
Keith bit his lip anxiously, but nodded.
"What's wrong?"
Lance and Keith looked up as Shiro and Katie approached, the green paladin yawning.
"Rosie isn't in here." Lance answered calmly.
Shiro hummed. "I'll check our room." He assured, trotting down the hall a little way while Katie stayed behind. He stepped into his room, was in there for a moment, then peeked out and shook his head.
Keith's breath hitched and Lance massaged his palms. "Hey, hey... Look at me. She could still be with Lilyanne. Let's go check with Allura and Hunk."
The red paladin nodded, clinging to Lance as he lead him back down the hallway. They traveled a little ways before coming across Allura and Hunk's room. Keith relaxed just slightly at hearing giggling on the other side of the door. Lance squeezed Keith's hands, then knocked.
"Come in!" Allura's voice chimed and the door slid open. She looked up, Lilyanne and Alfor wrapped in her arms and a grin spread across her face.
Hunk peeked up from blowing a raspberry on Cas's belly. The little boy also looked up, then giggled, stretching out his arms towards them.
Lance stepped closer. "Is Rosie in here?" He asked softly as Keith's gaze searched over the room.
Allura blinked, her hold on her older children loosening. "Oh... No, I haven't seen her. I thought she went to your room?"
Keith wailed and Lance gathered him in his arms. Hunk sat right up, handing Cas to Allura before rushing over. "Maybe she went down to the medical bay. She likes going there sometimes."
"No! She stays in the room until we get back! She always does!" Keith snapped, but Lance hushed him.
"We're going to look, Keith." Lance whispered, and Keith nodded. "She's okay, Keith. She's probably just hiding. You know she loves hide-and-seek."
"Right..."
~
"Rosie!?"
"Rosie!"
"Roselyn!"
"Roselyn Maríe McClain, you get out here right now!"
"Rosie!"
Keith panted as he rushed through the halls, panic settling in his chest. "Roselyn Maríe!" He cried, skidding a corner. "Rosie, come out! Please, come out!"
Allura gulped as she spoke through the coms. "I don't see her anywhere in the camera feed. I can't find her."
Lance then spoke up. "Roll back to when they were headed for their naps!"
"Alright."
Keith gripped the fabric of his shirt over his chest and he looked into every nook and cranny he came across. "Rosie, sweetie, please!"
"Okay, so she headed to your room... There go the twins, the door closes... Oh! No, no- how did- no!"
"Allura!?" Keith cried, stopping his his tracks. "What happened!? What happened to Rosie!?"
She was silent for a moment, then her voice shook. "A Galran got on board..."
~
Keith collapsed in tears and broken screams as they watched the feed. Lance knelt beside him and gathered him in an embrace. "No! No, why didn't the alarms go off!? How did he take her!? She's only three!" Keith cried, clutching onto his husband. "She's only three-years-old!"
"How did a Galran get on the ship without being detected!?" Katie shouted, rewinding the footage. "Where did it even come from!?"
Shiro gently coaxed her away from the dash. "Allura, we should contact Kolivan."
Allura nodded, rushing to her stand.
Once Kolivan responded, he immediately spotted Keith on the floor, buried into his husband. "What has caused such dismay in the Red Paladin?" Kolivan muttered, returning his gaze to Allura.
"During our battle..." Allura glanced over to the red and blue paladins. "A Galran somehow got on board and took Rosie."
Kolivan stared, then his eyes widened a fraction. His lips curled in a sneer and his eyes narrowed. "Dispicable, dishonorable, slimy-" He growled, clenching his fists.
Hunk stepped up. "Please, Kolivan. We ask for your help. Rosie is still small and can't defend herself yet."
The Galran nodded firmly. "Of course. I will do everything I can. I'll start immediately."
Allura nodded with a grateful smile. "Thank you, Kolivan."
Kolivan grunted, then their connection cut out.
Lance leaned back and cupped Keith's face. "Darling, look at me." Keith sobbed, but complied. "Kolivan is helping us. We'll have Rosie back soon." Lance pet Keith's hair back, then drew him back to his chest.
Allura sucked in a shuddering breath. "I... I need to-"
"Go on. I'll stay here." Hunk murmured, taking her hand and kissing her forehead. Allura nodded, then let her hand slip from his grasp as she rushed out.
Katie ground her teeth together. She then jumped as the radio clipped to her belt crackled. Katie bit her lip, looking up at Shiro as Hunter cried.
Shiro sighed, carding his fingers through his hair. "I'll get him." He whispered.
"Thank you." The green paladin murmured and knelt beside Keith and Lance.
~
Keith sighed, relaxing as he woke. He purred, clutching tightly to the little body curled up against his chest. "Rosie..." Keith mused, pressing his nose into the soft, messy hair.
The red paladin then paused. He hesitantly raised his hand to tangle into the short, soft locks. Their hair was straight and short, unlike Rosie. Her hair was long and curly. Keith blinked, shifting to look down.
"Hikaru." Keith breathed out. Keith curled tightly around the little boy, nuzzling him. "Hikaru..."
"Uncle Keith?" Hikaru yawned as he woke, nestling against the red paladin.
"I'm sorry... I didn't mean to wake you..." Keith whispered, petting Hikaru's hair back. "Go back to sleep."
Hikaru nodded. Before long, the toddler was asleep again. Keith shifted as he sat up so he could still hold the three-year-old without waking him.
Keith stood, hand in Hikaru's hair with his other arm tucked under the boy. He stepped out of the room, glancing either direction. He made his way down the hall quietly until he reached the command center.
Katie was the first to look up at the doors opened, then Lance.
"Keith." Lance murmured, rushing over with Katie following. "You're awake."
Keith looked up to his husband. "When did Hikaru come in?"
Katie ran her fingers through her son's hair. "He left our room about midnight to go lay with you. He said he didn't want you to feel lonely."
Keith closed his eyes and pressed his lips into the boy's hair. "Sweet boy..." He whispered.
"He gets it from his mother."
The red paladin looked up at the familiar voice. "Matthew. It's been a while."
The rebel offered a smile. "A few months. I'm here to help find Rosie."
Keith smiled weakly in return. "Thanks."
"No need for that, Keith." Matthew gestured to the board. "So the rebel force is scanning any ship that passes for Rosie in these quadrants, and the Blade will be searching all the major bases."
Shiro nodded, looking up. "We'll be searching in the prisons and any ship we attack or attacks us."
Allura approached Keith and placed a hand on Keith's shoulder. "Our first priority is finding Rosie."
"What about attacking the Galran empire? We have to defeat them?" Keith muttered, squeezing Hikaru.
Lance shook his head. "We're putting that on the back-burner until we have Rosie again. Once she's safe, we can do that."
Keith nodded, nestling into his husband. Lance wrapped his arms around Keith and Hikaru. "We'll get her back, Keith."
~
Hunter wailed as his mother bounced and rocked him, pacing back and forth in the commons room. "It's okay, Hunter... Hey, baby, it's alright..." Katie murmured, petting his dark hair back.
Keith bit his lip as he watched, tucked into Lance's side. "How did all of your kids get black hair?"
Katie smiled as she looked over at Keith. "I'm pretty sure Iris just has really dark hair. However, I think it's the Japanese in Shiro."
"Oh." Keith hummed, scooting closer to the edge of the couch. "Do you want me to hold him?"
"Yes, please!" Katie groaned and rushed over. "I have to go help Hikaru and Iris with their reading like I've been promising for a month, and I promised Hunk I'd help him with the- the... The thing... What's it called?"
"If you don't know, how are we supposed to know?" Lance mused, helping Hunter into Keith's arms. Keith sighed, relaxing as he cradled Hunter to his chest.
Katie shrugged. "I dunno. Anyway, thanks! I'll be back to take him soon!"
"Take your time." Lance waved as she darted out. He then looked down at Keith and Hunter.
Keith adjusted the baby, murmuring softly. Hunter settled down, curling his fingers in Keith's shirt. He blinked, then yawned and nuzzled Keith.
Lance wrapped his arm around Keith's waist and held him closer. "We're still looking. Matthew and Kolivan have been updating us."
Keith nodded, gently rocking Hunter. Keith leaned onto Lance, resting his head on Lance's shoulder. "I was... I was going to tell you when Rosie woke up..."
"Tell me what?" Lance whispered, pressing his lips to Keith's forehead.
"Rosie... Is going to be a big sister." Keith breathed deeply.
Lance froze up, then pulled back with wide eyes. "Really?" Keith looked up at Lance. The Blue paladin grinned brightly, then pulled Keith in tightly for an embrace. "That's awesome, Keith! That's great! I-" Lance paused, then his hold on Keith went slack. "But Rosie..."
Keith nodded, holding Hunter closer. "What if they hurt her? Lance, she must be so scared..."
Lance pet Hunter's hair, resting his chin on Keith's head. "We'll find her, soon. I know it."
~
"Pidge, anything?"
"No." Katie sighed as she searched through the prison footage. "Nothing. Still nothing. Coran, is Hunter asleep, yet?"
"Yes, number five! I laid him down just a few tics ago, actually."
"Thanks."
Keith bit his lip to hold back tears, but then slapped the device on the wall beside him. "Red button, right?"
"Yes. Red button is the timer." Katie stated as she finished up. "Sorry, Keith."
"It's not your fault." The red paladin muttered, pressing the red button. "Let's just get out of here."
~
Keith managed to weasel Hunter away from Coran and hide away in his shared bedroom. Hunter cooed and nuzzled Keith. Keith held onto him, tears silently sliding down his cheeks.
Lance was the one to find him, and he sighed as the door opened. "Keith... Sweetheart, Pidge is going to freak if she doesn't hold Hunter soon."
The red paladin turned slightly. "Just a moment. I just need to hold him for a moment... Then you can take him back."
"Alright." Lance murmured, but still stepped closer. He embraced Keith, kissing just above Keith's ear. "I love you, Keith. I miss you."
Keith rested his head on Lance's shoulder. "Miss me? I'm right here."
"Keith... Keith, you're so solemn and tired and... You're not the instinctive, head-strong, fiery man I married four years ago. You've been stuck in your own world since they took Rosie. I don't blame you, but... I miss you. I miss arguing and playing... I wish we had Rosie back, too, but I wish that losing Rosie doesn't mean losing you as well."
The red paladin buried his face in the crook of Lance's neck. "Lance, I... I'm sorry..."
Lance shook his head. "Don't... Don't apologize, novio. Come on. Let's go give Hunter back." Keith nodded.
~
Keith hugged Rosie's favorite blanket to his chest as he sorted through their family photos. He held up the picture taken the day Rosie was born.
They were on Earth, thankfully, and had managed to make it to a hospital when Keith went into labor in the middle of a McClain party. Everyone made it in time to greet Rosie to the universe. All the paladins, Allura, Coran, and Lance's family were all gathered around Keith's hospital bed as Keith cradled his new born baby girl. Lilyanne - having been a year old at this time - was also in the picture.
Keith purred, brushing the pad of his thumb over the photo.
The red paladin then yelped and jumped, photos fluttering and flinging off the bed and across the floor as the door opened and Lance burst in with a shout.
"Lance-! What on Earth-!?" Keith cried, leaping to his feet. Their eyes met, and Keith nearly wilted.
"They found her..."
~
"Rosie! Rosie!"
Keith bolted down the hallways of The Blade of Malmora Headquarters until he was in the command center. "Rosie!"
"Mommy!" The little girl gasped, leaping off Kolivan's lap. "Mommy, I was so scared!" Rosie cried as she ran right into Keith's arms.
The red paladin fell to his knees as he tightly embraced Rosie. "I know, sweetie. I'm so sorry we couldn't find you sooner."
Rosie sniffled as she nuzzled her mother. "Haggar and Lotor were mean... So mean..."
Keith nodded, burying his nose in her hair. "They're very mean... I love you so much, Rosie."
"I love you, too, mommy... Daddy!" Rosie shouted and wriggled from Keith. She dashed over to the blue paladin and He swooped her up in the air before holding her close. "Daddy!"
Lance grinned, tears sliding down his cheeks as he nuzzled his daughter. "I missed you, too, baby girl." He kissed her hair, offering a hand down to Keith.
Keith took the help and was pulled back to his feet, right into a tight embrace. "My two favorite people in the whole wide universe." Lance whispered, holding both Keith and Rosie close.
Rosie clutched to both of them, her tears gone. "Can we go play now?"
Lance and Keith both laughed, Lance kissing the top of her head. "Let's go play, sweetheart."
Keith looked back at Kolivan, then waved to him. Kolivan nodded with a small smile.
~
Rosie giggled as she played with the other children, squealing and jumping excitedly.
Keith sat between Lance and Katie, watching Rosie play.
Hunk dragged himself into the commons room yawning with Cas laying over his shoulder. "Morning, everyone."
"Morning, daddy!" Lilyanne piped up as she jumped to her feet, waving. She looked more like Allura than either of her brothers. Long, curly white hair and dark skin. She had pointy ears like her mother, but only a single yellow marking under her right eye. Her eyes were a bright goldish color with silvery-blue flakes in them.
Alfor was more like Hunk, with only a single marking of blue under his right eye. He had human ears(to Allura's disappointment) and dark brown eyes to match his dark brown hair.
Cas also looked like his mother with both green markings under his eyes and semi-pointed ears. His hair was more a silvery color than a white, and his eyes were a bright baby blue.
Shiro and Katie's children all varied. Hikaru looked just like his father, but had his mother's nose, eyes, and smile. Iris was carbon-copy of Katie with dark hair and slightly darker eyes. Hunter, though still a baby, took most of his features from his father as well. Black hair, dark gray eyes, handsome smile, and definitely his jaw. He has Katie's cheeks, and that's probably all.
Now, Rosie look more like her father than she looked like Keith. Dark skin, curly black hair, dark blue eyes, sharp cheekbones, but Keith's softer jawline and nose.
Keith placed his hand over his flat abdomen, wondering what their second child will look like.
Rosie bounced over to her parents and crawled up into her father's lap. Lance helped her up and situate herself comfortably. Rosie then looked up at Keith with sparkling eyes. Keith smiled and ran his fingers through her hair. "Mommy, can I be like you when I grow up?"
"How so?" Keith mused, tucking a lock of hair behind her ear.
Rosie grinned. Definitely her father's grin. "Strong and brave and fast!" She leapt to her feet on the little bit of cushion space between her parents. "Not scared of the bad guys, and super awesome with a sword!" Rosie thrust her arm out, her other arm tucked into her side. "But also the best mommy ever!"
Keith laughed and pulled Rosie down into his lap. "You be whatever you want to be when you grow up!" Rosie shrieked and thrashed as she was tickled, then giggled as she was nuzzled. "So long as you don't mind be a big sister."
Lance watched fondly as Rosie blinked owlishly. She stared up at Keith, as well as the other paladins.
Rosie suddenly screamed, eyes huge and sparkling. She jumped off Keith and dashed in a circle. "I'm gonna be a sister!" She cheered, running back to her parents.
Katie burst out laughing, Shiro chuckling beside her. Hunk muttered something about it being too early while Lance and Keith embraced Rosie.
"I love you, I love you, I love you!" Rosie squeaked, nestling herself between her parents. "Is it a brother or a sister?"
"We don't know that, yet." Lance mused, ruffling Rosie's hair. However, the little girl still beamed and buried herself in their arms.
