He's Mine Now

Lancelot/Klance

Lance groaned. "Do you ever stop nagging?" He muttered, running his hands down his face. Keith shot a glare at him. "Look, I did that so we could get out faster. Everyone was tired. We don't have Shiro around, so I-"

"Lance, stop!" Keith snapped. "I'm tired of you saying that! 'We don't have Shiro around-', so!? I'm the leader now and you're my boyfriend, so I was hoping for a little support and I was hoping you'd trust my plans more! Not completely ignore me on the battlefield!"

The blue paladin sighed. "Keith, I was hoping you'd trust me more when I come up,with something. You always shoot me down and you're always saying that. 'I'm the leader now. You have to do as I say.' I know Shiro trusted you with leading Voltron, but you wave that in our face every time you want us to do something! We know Shiro asked you to take over! Just- I don't feel like a member of this team!"

"What are you talking about!?"

"I'm saying that I'm not included! I'm NOT appreciated, no one ever looks to me for help or considers my ideas! No one pats me on the back or says 'good job,' or, 'great idea!' Everyone else is treated like family- like a valuable team member!"

"But I-"

"You what!?" Lance cried. The look on Keith's face helped Lance know that Keith knew that everything he said was true. "Whatever. I'm done. I'm tired." Lance pivoted sharply and stomped away. "If you need me - which I doubt - I'll be in my room."

Keith stood there, eyes wide as he watched Lance walk away. "Wait..."

~

Lance stood his ground, bayard raised as the Galran Prince neared. "D-don't come any closer!" Lance shouted, gripping his bayard.

A grin grew on Lotor's face. "Blue paladin!" He crooned, holding out his arms. Lance tensed. "My. I never thought you would be so beautiful up close." Lotor purred and cupped Lance's chin.

The blue paladin sneered, the head of his bayard pressed against the prince's chestplate. "I could pull the trigger."

"Then you'll die. Such a waste." Lotor hummed, gesturing to the sentries behind him. "I hear you're a wonderful shot. You can take out just about anyone with this cute little weapon." Lotor tapped the side of the bayard.

Lance swallowed thickly. "So what if I am?"

Lotor smirked. "The Galra could really use someone like you, blue paladin."

Lance jolted back, eyes wide. "Hell no! I am not-!"

"Do your teammates respect you?" Lance paused. Lotor blinked innocently. "Do they cheer you on? Do they celebrate you, listen to you, be there for you when you are sad?"

The blue paladin opened his mouth to retort, but words died on his tongue. Lotor hummed. "Just as I thought. Paladin, come with me."

"I-"

"You'll not only be treated as a friend, you'll be a brother. You'll be a king."

Lance jaw clenched as he looked up into Lotor's yellow eyes.

~

"Where the hell is Lance!?" Keith shouted, tearing his blade out of a sentry.

He then jolted and gasped as a blaster sounded. Keith whipped around to see Lance, bayard up and smoking slightly after being triggered. "Here."

Hunk cheered, then plowed down several more sentries.

Everything in the room came to a sudden halt. Keith turned and raised his head, then glared. "Lotor..." He sneered, gripping his blade.

Lotor hummed and approached Lance. "I knew I wouldn't be disappointed. You shot him straight through the head from all the way over here."

Keith blinked. "Lance... Shot him... He's right there- kill him! End it!"

Lance met Keith's eyes, then lowered his bayard as it deactivated. "No."

Then other three paladins stiffed. "Lance?" Hunk asked, stepping closer. He froze as a Galran blaster pointed at him.

Lotor smiled and wrapped an arm around Lance's waist. "He's coming home with me!"

"What!? No! He's staying here!" Keith stomped his foot, then flinched as Lance glared at him. "Lance... Lance, tell me you're not going with him..."

Lance didn't hesitate. "I'm going."

Keith's stomach dropped and his heart stopped. "N-no!"

"Yes."

Lotor purred happily. "You don't appreciate him enough, red. Well, I suppose you're the black paladin, now." Keith trembled, eyes fixated on Lance's blank stare. "He doesn't want to be somewhere he doesn't feel like he belongs. He's not recognized or respected, here. He will be with me. Lance is mine now."

Keith's chest felt crushed and he found it difficult to breathe. "Lance, I-"

"No!" Lance snapped. "I don't want to hear it! Not after this! Come on, let's just- let's go!" Lance swiveled around and stormed into the swarm of Galran sentries.

Lotor flashed a cocky smirk at Keith, then followed the blue paladin.

~

Keith curled up on Lance's bed, hugging the pillow to his chest and sobbing into the sheets.

Word about the blue paladin's betrayal spread through the universe faster than wild fire. Now they were down two paladins. Allura took up piloting Blue and now Red had no one to pilot her.

It's been three weeks without Lance and two months without Shiro. Keith just wanted both of them back.

Keith jolted as there was a knock at the door. "Who is it?"

"Pidge." She replyed. "There's, uh... Been another sighting of Lance... We're headed there, now... You should armor up. Hunk, Allura and I are already-"

"I'll be out in a minute." Keith murmured just loud enough as he sat up.

The green paladin was quiet for a moment before speaking. "Did you ever tell him that you love him?"

Keith glanced up at the closed door. He hesitated, then sucked in a shuddering breath. "No... I wish I did."

Pidge hummed. "Me too."

He wasn't sure if she was referring to Lance or Shiro, but he knew she understood and wishes she could have them both back as much as he did.

~

"Damnit!" Keith screamed, kicking rubble as hard as he could. "No!"

Hunk reached over and put a hand on Keith's shoulder. "Hey... We'll get him next time..."

Keith fell to his ass and buried his face in his hands. "Shit."

Pidge ushered the aliens to go find their families with Allura to give Keith some space.

Keith sobbed. "I just- I need him!"

~

Now that he thought about it, Lance should have left his paladin armor and his bayard. He never wore it, didn't use his bayard.

He was given new armor and a new weapon. As of now, he was staring at his paladin armor and bayard as it sat empty in a box.

"Don't tell me you miss it, Lance."

Lance looked over his shoulder to see Lotor enter his room. "Not at all. I'm just still trying to get used to the difference."

Lotor smiled and kissed Lance's cheek. "Hmm... Such smooth, soft skin. Humans are wonderful."

"Only a few." Lance muttered and turned away. "I'm not one of them."

The Prince wrapped his arms lazily around Lance and nuzzled him. "You are wonderful. You're my favorite being out of the whole universe. I love you more than I love my own father."

Lance chuckled. "And you hold him in such high regards."

"Which goes to say just how much I love you. Now, I must go meet with Haggar. I'll see you later, my crystal." Lotor placed another kiss to Lance's cheek, then left.

Furiously, Lance rubbed at his cheek and shivered. "Gross..."

~

Keith stalked down the hallway, bayard up and ready to attack. He trembled as a familiar voice came within earshot.

"-just make sure to back me when we get to Dentoo."

"Yes, Lieutenant." A Galran soldier saluted. "Vrepit sa." He then turned and left.

Lance was alone. Keith found him.

He stepped out from hiding, Lance's back facing him. "Lieutenant? That was fast."

The taller man hummed, carding his fingers through his hair before turning to look at Keith. "Helps when you work with the Prince of the empire. It's been a while."

"A month." Keith muttered, raising his bayard. "It's been a month."

Lance sighed. "I'm guessing you're here to kill me." He spread his arms open. "I'm unarmed. I can't fight back. Go ahead. Assassinate me."

Keith stiffened, tightening his grip on his bayard. "What if I wasn't here to kill you?"

He snorted, arms staying up. "What else are you here to do? I'm a threat to Voltron now that I'm with the Galra. I'm the best shot in the universe."

Teeth gritting together, Keith blinked back tears. "You're right..." Keith took a hesitant step forward, then bolted. Lance stood still until Keith arched his bayard up.

Lance swiveled, then hooked Keith's arm. Keith yelped as he was spun and pinned against the wall. His helmet pressed uncomfortably into his face and his arm pressed up into his back. Lance leaned forward. "Keith, do you really think I'd let you kill me?"

Keith glared over his shoulder. "The you from four months ago would have."

"It's been four months." Lance hummed. "I'm not going to let you kill me so easily... Especially when my family is waiting for me back home."

Keith jerked. "Why would they want you after you've become this!?"

Lance was quiet for a moment, then leaned closer. His hold on Keith loosened and he pressed his lips to Keith's cheek. "You're right. Why would they want to see their son after he's come up with a dangerous idea to go undercover in the most dangerous empire to destroy said empire? Preposterous."

Keith blinked owlishly, then slumped. "You made way to obvious..." Lance snickered and released Keith. Keith turned and glared at him. "Are you fucking serious? You made us believe you turned against us to join them?"

"How else could I have done it? You'd shoot it down as soon as I told you."

"Because it's dangerous."

"Because you shoot down everything I suggest." Lance countered. "Everything. You expected me to be a good boyfriend and support you as leader, but you weren't a good boyfriend." He folded his arms. Keith looked down. "How can you expect me to support you when you don't support me? You don't encourage me, and you get mad at me when I'm impulsive. I support you, I encourage you, and I don't get angry when you're impulsive."

Keith stood silent for a moment, then stepped forward and threw his arms around Lance. Lance returned the embrace more gently. "I'm so sorry... I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I love you... I love you so, so much... I miss you and I want you back."

Lance smiled and kissed the top of Keith's head. "I love you, too... You should go before someone sees you."

"I'm not leaving without you." Keith squeezed Lance.

"You have to. Go on, Keith. I'll see you, soon." Lance pulled back and planted a sweet kiss to Keith's lips. Keith looked up at Lance and Lance smiled. He pet Keith's cheek with his knuckles, then turned away. "Hurry."

Keith gulped, bit his lip, then nodded. "Okay... I'm trusting you with this." Lance flashed a smile over his shoulder, then Keith ran off.

~

Lance fucking played him! How could he!?

Keith furiously attacked the training bot, tears blurring his vision. Lance's ship attacked the castle, putting Pidge in the healing pods.

Just one week after they spoke!

"END TRAINING SEQUENCE!" Keith shouted and fell to the floor. Keith buried his face in his hands and sobbed. He couldn't believe he fell for it. How did he fall for it?

Pidge must have found him because his jacket was suddenly being draped over his face.

"Your sobbing is obnoxious." Keith huffed as she sat beside him. "Hey, it's not your fault."

"Yes it is."

"Look, Keith." Pidge placed a hand on Keith's arm. "It was Lance's ship. Not Lance. Maybe he wasn't the one who called the attack."

"I doubt that."

Pidge laid down. "Do you think we'll ever find Shiro?"

Keith paused, then lifted his jacket to look at her. "Sudden topic change." He muttered, shifting. "But, yeah. I think that maybe someday we'll find him or figure out what's happened to him." That smile on the youngest's face made the universe seem a little bit brighter.

~

Over the next year, it was back and forth with Lance. Still no sign of Shiro.

Keith could practically smell the Galran Prince attempting to court Lance every time he saw them together. Lance just didn't seem to be having it.

Fear of Lance spread. Deadliest shot in the universe. Don't get on his bad side.

Rumors spread and people still asked them if Lance really switched sides.

Hunk started the rumor that Lance was undercover.

That rumor was just beginning to take, flight when the castle got a call one day. Allura pulled it up on the screen once everyone was in, and they all went rigid.

Lance was rushing through the halls of a Galran ship, holding the contact device with Shiro dragging behind him. "Guys, I need--port imme-- iro is-- attacking wi-- efence-- help!"

The line cut out completely. The screen went black and the sound of blasters and Lance's voice dropped out.

Pidge was the first to step forward. "We have to get them."

~

Lance huffed and collapsed on the stairs once Shiro was safe and in a pod. "Thought I was never getting out..." He murmured, waving off Hunk. "I'm fine, buddy. Just a little outta breath. I'll live."

Allura placed her hand on,his shoulder. "It's nice to have you back, Lance."

The blue paladin smiled up at her. "It's nice to be back."

It took sometime, but Keith finally got Lance alone. Lance wrapped Keith in his arms and Keith buried himself into Lance. Neither spoke as they held each other, basking in the familiar warmth.

Keith finally decided to speak. "You're mine, Lance. Not Lotor's."

Lance chuckled. "I know, Keith. I'm all yours."

... Meh, I'm not particularly proud of this one shot.
