Date
Pidgance
Lance sighed softly, resting his chin on Pidge's messy head of hair. "Babe, I'm bored."
The green paladin rolled her eyes and elbowed him. "Go screw around with Hunk or Keith. And quit calling me 'babe.' We're not dating."
"But babe!" Lance whined, squeezing Pidge. Pidge groaned and wiggled until she was out of his grasp. "Nooo!" He flopped to the floor and grabbed up at her.
"Get up, fatass." She nudged his side with her foot. "I don't trust you in my lab by yourself. I gotta go talk to Shiro."
"Now you're cheating on me! Baby, what'd I do wrong!?" Lance flailed, refusing to get off the floor.
Pidge huffed and pivoted. "First of all," She muttered as she walked away, "you never really asked me out. Secondly, we never went on a date or anything as a couple." Then she exited the room.
Lance blinked, then grinned. "Will do."
~
Pidge hit her head against her table with a prolonged, exasperated groan. "What, Lance?"
Lance hummed, wrapping his arms around her and resting his chin on her head. "Nothing... I just wanted to ask you a question?"
"And what is that?"
"If you'll take a short break from your precious technology and spend an evening with me."
The green paladin blinked owlishly, then turned her head to look up at him. "As in...?"
Lance grinned. "A date." He finished for her. Pidge's cheeks went bright red and she buried her face in her hands. "So?"
She was quiet, then her reply was muffled by her palm. "Okay."
~
Pidge hummed as she pushed her plate. "That was good. Did you have Hunk make this out of the spices we picked up?"
Lance grinned and nodded. "Yup! But don't get ready to leave quite yet." Lance stood and held out his hand to her. "We have one more thing."
She blinked at his hand, then slowly slid her much smaller hand into it. He helped Pidge to her feet, then led her to the empty space beside the dining table. Soft music poured into the room and Pidge's cheeks went bright red. "Oh no, I can't dance!" She sputtered, taking a step back.
"That's alright." Lance hummed, drawing her closer. He placed his hand on the small of her back and weaved their fingers together. Pidge's other hand hesitantly made its way up to his shoulder. "There, easy. Now, just follow my feet, okay? Take a step back when I step forward."
Pidge nodded. "Okay." She followed his instructions, fumbling the first few steps. Once she got the hang of it, she beamed up at Lance.
The blue paladin laughed and spun her under his arm. She yelped, then giggled. "Do that again!" Lance snickered, then did asked gleefully demanded.
The green paladin laughed.
They danced for hours.
~Five years later
"Pidge, baby, where were you?" Lance peeked into Pidge's work area, searching under the tables in and the vents. "Katie, I swear, if you're asleep somewhere-"
"I'm up here!" Pidge peeked over Green's muzzle and waved down at him. "I was fixing the dent to yesterday!"
Lance chuckled, folding his arms over his chest. "Will you come down?"
She stuck her tongue out, then patted Green's muzzle. Green lowered her head to the ground, then went back up once Pidge on on the flood. Pidge brushed off the shirt she wore and tugged her hair out of a hair tie.
"Is that... My shirt?" Lance asked as she pulled down the blue sleeves.
Pidge grinned up at him. "I stole your shirt."
Lance laughed. "I see that. Come here." He opened his arms and Pidge shuffled over. "I haven't worn that in a long time."
"I know. I found it in a pile of your shit I cleaned up."
"I saw that you cleaned my room." Lance hummed, petting her long hair. "You didn't have to."
Pidge glared up at him. "Yes I did. If I didn't, I'd die in the middle of the night when sneaking into your room."
Lance snorted, then kissed her forehead. "You would not."
"I just might." Pidge huffed. Lance shook his head with a smile. "Anyway, did you come for something?"
"Yeah, actually." Lance mused, pulling her hair over her shoulder. "I came to ask if you'd like to go on a date with me."
Her eyes lit up as she grinned. "Of course!"
