Emerald Skies
"Really, you don't want him, sir."
"Why not?"
Arthur curled at the back of his cage, eyes closed tightly.
"He's not a good omega, sir. He can't cook, he fights back, won't do as told, and he's not... He's not attractive. He's small and messy, and his skin is too pale. The only thing he would be good for is breeding, but he won't allow anyone near him, even during his heat."
The Alpha sighed, opening the cage door. "I'll get him. I won't change my mind."
The seller hesitated. "O-okay... Alright. $300."
Arthur listened to the Alpha's deep chuckle. "Deal."
~
"You... Actually went and bought an omega? Alfred..."
Alfred sighed as he opened the cage to let the new omega out. "Matthew, if dad finds out that I didn't, he'll take you and your baby from me. I'm not mating with him. He'll just be a new household member to make dad think I bought a breeding omega for myself."
The omega sighed. "Alfred... Dad will find out eventually that you're not using him for that purpose. He has to smell like- oh! Oh, my goodness, Alfred, he's so dirty and unhealthy!"
"Exactly. He was in the worst condition out of all the omegas there. I had to get him out. Will you help him? I'm sure he won't be comfortable with me in there while he cleans." Matthew sighed and agreed before going to the cage. "I'll be in my office," Alfred stated before heading up the stairs. "His room is the one I prepared across from mine."
"Thanks, Al." The young omega sighed and reached in the cage. "Come on. Let's get you out and clean you up."
Arthur shook his head, backing up against the cage even more.
Matthew sighed. "Please? While you're in the shower, I'll make you some lunch. What do you like to eat?" Arthur stayed silent. "I promise that you'll feel better." Arthur sniffed, catching Matthew's sweet scent. He cautiously began to crawl towards the entrance on the cage. "You can open your eyes." Arthur shook his head. Matthew sighed, helping the small omega to his feet. "Let's get you cleaned."
~
Arthur looked at all the books on the shelf in his new room, touching each leather bound spine.
However, as soon as the doorknob twisted, Arthur closed his eyes, sitting on the edge of the bed. "Will you talk today? Or open your eyes?" Arthur shook his head as the Alpha neared him. Alfred sighed, sitting on the bed. In the two weeks that Arthur has lived here, he's allowed the Alpha the privilege of being near him. "Why won't you speak? Or open your eyes? Did something bad happen? Do you think your eyes or voice are ugly?" Arthur shook his head. "At least tell me your name?" The Omega still wouldn't answer. "Fine... You look a lot better. Healthier... I have to leave. If you need anything, get my brother. I'll be back tonight."
Arthur nodded and listened to him leave before opening his eyes. He sighed softly.
Later that day, Arthur stepped out of the room, feeling rather hungry. He rushed down the stairs and to the kitchen. Arthur immediately shut his eyes when he spotted Matthew cradling his baby and making her a bottle.
"Oh, are you hungry? I could make you something." Arthur shook his head. "I'm sorry about Mable. She has such a hard time staying asleep during the day." Arthur waved his hand and grabbed an apple. He bit into it and listened to Matthew whisper to his baby. Arthur tilted his head, then raised his hand and signed 'father'. "Oh," Matthew breathed deeply, having seen Arthur's sign language and understanding. "Her father... It's a long story..."
Arthur sat down, gesturing for him to continue. Matthew chuckled, giving his daughter the bottle. "Well... About two years ago, I met him. He was working for this big company, he was paid so much. We started meeting each other and eventually we started dating, and we fell in love. My father didn't approve of him, so I ran off to live with him. About two weeks after moving in, my heat started. A month later, I found out I was pregnant. We were so excited to have a baby together, but my father found us. He threatened my Alpha and my baby, so I came to live with Alfred, my brother... Mable is three months old now, and my Alpha still hasn't met her." Matthew sighed, sitting beside Arthur. "I hope you find someone someday."
"No," Arthur whispered, standing up. "I don't want someone."
~
Arthur gasped and whined, squirming around in the bed. His heat started two days previous, and no one has come in to bother him; which he was grateful for. Moans spilled from his lips, his body desiring an Alpha. But he didn't want an Alpha.
Meanwhile, downstairs. Alfred and Matthew sat on the couch awkwardly as their father sat in the chair across from them. "So, Alfred. I smell heat, and it's not Matthew." Their father smirked. "Buy an omega?"
Alfred cleared his throat and straightened up. "Yes. He's in the middle of his heat right now. I figured I might just let him get to know us before I go in on his heat so I don't stress him out."
Their father hummed and nodded. "Good idea. Stressed omegas aren't good omegas. Smart, son." Alfred nodded. "Business is well, my sons are well, granddaughter is well... Everything checks out. Your mother said she will visit you next week, and I'll see you at work."
Matthew stood up and showed their father out. Alfred groaned and leaned back on the couch. The younger omega turned back around and faced Alfred. "He will find out. He bought that, but will he buy the next excuse?" Alfred sighed, running his hands down his face. "Alfred... The omega can talk. He spoke to me about three nights before his heat started, so five days ago, but he talked."
The Alpha raised a brow. "What'd he say?"
Matthew sat down. "I was telling him about Mable's father, and I told him that I hoped he would be able to find someone that he truly loved. He said, 'no... I don't want someone.' That's it. Then he went right back to his room. I know I should have told you sooner, but it slipped my mind."
Alfred shrugged. "It's fine, Mattie. I just hope he'll say something to me. Anything at all."
~
Arthur crept down the stairs and into the kitchen. He flipped on the light and hurried over to the cupboard with the cups. He filled up a glass of water and sighed. Arthur slowly drank and set the cup down in the sink.
"Are you going to leave that there for my brother?"
The omega gasped and whipped around, eyes wide. The Alpha stood on the other side of the island in a navy blue robe and hair sticking up everywhere. Arthur quickly shut his eyes and backed up. Alfred chuckled and made his way over to the Brit. "It's too late, omega." He gently took Arthur's small hands and drew him closer. "I already saw those beautiful eyes. No use hiding them." Arthur gulped, hesitating. Slowly, he opened his eyes. Alfred's eyes were the most beautiful shade of blue. "That's why you hide them... If anyone had so much as glanced at your eyes, they'd pay thousands to have you as their breeding omega." The omega looked down. "Let's sit."
Arthur nodded and sat with Alfred at the table. Arthur wanted to avoid eye-contact, but he found Alfred's eyes to be so beautiful. He just couldn't look away. Alfred held Arthur's hand. "No one is going to hurt you or force you to breed here. You are our house guest until I can find a way to get our father off our backs. Until then, all I ask is that you pretend. That's all. When he's here and when my mother's here or business workers, pretend to be my omega." Alfred gave Arthur's hand a squeeze. Arthur only nodded. The Alpha sighed. "I know you can talk... Please say something." Alfred leaned closer, moving his chair forward.
Arthur blinked and swallowed before opening his mouth. "Your eyes are beautiful."
Alfred stared for a moment before laughing. He released Arthur's hand and leaned back. "My eyes are, huh? What about yours? Yours are the perfect shade of emerald."
"Your eyes are the color of the sky," Arthur countered, reaching over. Alfred leaned forward for Arthur to cup his cheeks and examine his eyes. "I never thought someone's eyes could be so blue and beautiful. Anyone could get lost, staring into your eyes. They're just the right shades and patterns. They really... Draw you in. Do you think otherwise? Do you think your eyes are not special?"
The Alpha smiled. "If you think my eyes are special, then that's what they are." Arthur tilted his head, and returned a little smile. "What's your name?"
"Arthur," he whispered, his fingertips feathering over Alfred's cheeks.
Alfred grinned brightly. "It's nice to meet you, Arthur."
~
Arthur bowed his head as Alfred and Matthew's mother stepped through the front door. "Hello, mother," Alfred and Matthew greeted with smiles as they lead her to the couch.
"My precious boys," she murmured, kissing their foreheads. "I'm sorry for not coming with your father last week, but I had to go to a meeting for him. He didn't feel like going, but someone had to go or we would have lost so much money! I'm not sure he really wants to run this business. Oh!" Mrs. Jones gasped and grinned before taking Arthur's hands. "You must be the omega my husband mentioned! He didn't get to meet you when he was here, so I'm glad I get to!" She giggled, then hugged Arthur. Arthur smiled awkwardly. "What's your name?"
"Arthur, ma'am." He answered quietly, glancing over at Alfred. "I'm here to be Alfred's breeding partner."
Mrs. Jones gasped. "Breeding partner? Oh, you're pretty enough to be my son's mate!"
Alfred stepped closer. "Mom, we're not doing anything, yet. We're just getting to know each other, first."
The woman then smiled brightly. "Oh, that's good!" She released Arthur and sat down on the couch. "You have time to become mates!"
Alfred and Arthur blushed, but didn't respond to the comment.
~
"Why were you in that place? The place where I had found you."
Arthur looked down with a sigh. "When I was younger, about ten-years-old, I was kidnapped by them. My mum always told me that if something were to ever happen to me, keep my eyes closed and my mouth shut."
Alfred hummed, wrapping his arms around Arthur's slim waist. "That's why you did that." Arthur nodded. "I could help you find your family, Arthur."
The Brit sighed and shook his head. "I don't even know if they live in England anymore," he murmured, placing his hands over Alfred's. "I don't know if they're alive anymore or searching for me or... Or anything."
The American nuzzled his nose into Arthur's shoulder. "I'll find them, Arthur, if you want to see them again."
Arthur nodded, tears building in his eyes. "I do... I really do want to see them."
~
Arthur curled up in Alfred's lap, resting his head against the Alpha's chest as he signed papers and typed up reports on his laptop. Arthur sighed softly, lightly tugging on Alfred's shirt. Alfred hummed. "You smell good," the omega whispered, nuzzling closer. Alfred laughed softly, leaning back. "You do! You smell very good..." Arthur deeply breathed in Alfred's scent, then whined. "Alfred..." He murmured, shifting in the Alpha's lap.
Alfred raised a brow, then his eyes widened when he caught Arthur's scent. "Arthur... Did your heat just start?" The Brit nodded, squeezing his legs together as he felt the slick. "Shit! I gotta get you to your room!" Alfred moved to pick up Arthur to carry him, but the omega stopped him. "Arthur?"
"I..." Arthur moved himself to straddle Alfred's lap and look into his eyes. "I want to be with you." Alfred's eyes widened more and his jaw slackened. "Please? I-I really love being here, and-and I love you!" He leaned closer, shifting in Alfred's lap. The Alpha's grip tightened on the arms of the chair as he gulped. Arthur's hand slid down his torso and he drew in a sharp breath as Arthur cupped his growing erection. "I know you want to, as well." Alfred blushed and looked away. "We can stay in here. No one is coming over, Matthew and Mable are out for the day with your mother... We've known each other for several months and we like each other... Please, Alfred? I want you to be my alpha."
~
"Alfred!" Arthur dashed down the stairs, a wide grin stretching his lips. "Alfred!"
The Alpha laughed as his omega leapt into his arms and nuzzled against him. "What is it? Why are you suddenly so happy? I'm pretty sure I didn't tell you my news yet."
Arthur giggled. "I have something I want to tell you that I just found out! You can tell me your news after, okay?" Alfred chuckled and nodded, Matthew laughing softly in the background as he listened to the two. Arthur bit his lip, playing with Alfred's hair. "I'm pregnant."
Alfred blinked. "You... You are?" Arthur nodded, bouncing on his feet. Alfred laughed and tightly squeezed Arthur. "You're pregnant!" He lifted up his mate and spun him around. "We're going to have a baby!" Arthur embraced Alfred, wrapping his legs around his alpha's waist and burying his nose in his hair. "I love you so much, Arthur."
The Brit hummed, closing his eyes as the alpha handled him more gently. "I love you, too... What was your good news?"
"Well," Alfred started, kissing Arthur's shoulder, "last night, I found your family. They're coming here next week to see you."
"All of them?" Arthur pulled away to look into Alfred's eyes. Alfred smiled and nodded. Arthur sobbed, overwhelmed with joy as he nuzzled back into Alfred. "I love you! I love you so, so much!" Alfred chuckled, rubbing Arthur's back. "Thank you... Thank you..."
~
Arthur's toes curled excitedly as he waited on the couch, eyes glued to the door. Matthew and Mable waited beside Arthur, giggling at how excited and happy the normally-grouchy omega was.
As soon as the lock clicked on the door, Arthur shot to his feet, biting his lip in anticipation. Alfred stepped in the house, smiling at his omega before stepping out of the way.
Arthur's breath hitched and tears welled in his eyes as his mother stepped through the door. "Mum?"
The tiny woman gasped and leapt at Arthur, quickly gathering him in her embrace. "Arthur! Oh, we've missed you so much!" Arthur sobbed with her as the rest of his family rushed in and embraced their brother.
"Alistair! Dylan! Carson! Peter!" Arthur wept as he became surrounded by his family. "I missed you... I'm missed you all so much!"
Soon they were all sitting on the couch, Arthur sandwiched between his family. Arthur's mother smiled at Alfred. "Thank you so much for finding my son. We had been searching for him all these years and we never had a clue as to where he could have been."
Alfred smiled in return. "You're welcome, Mrs. Kirkland. I'm happy to have met him. He's very special."
Arthur smiled at his mate, squeezing his mother's hand. "I could never thank you enough, Alfred." Said man shrugged and chuckled, smiling fondly at his mate.
Alistair looked down at Arthur. "So you'll be coming home with us, right?" Arthur looked up at his elder brother, tilting his head. "You've been gone for so long, and now that you've been found, you can come back home with us."
"What? Wait, I-"
"Yay! Arthur's coming back home!" Peter cheered, squeezing Arthur, whom looked up at Alfred with concern.
Carson laughed. "We'll have our little brother back!" Dylan only chuckled, ruffling Arthur's hair.
"W-wait a moment!" Arthur yelped, suddenly feeling as if he was in a tight space.
His mother blinked in surprise. "What's the matter? Aren't you coming home with us?"
Arthur stood up. "Alfred, did you tell them I was going with them?"
"No! Well, yes, but," Alfred answered, worried as he approached Arthur. "Arthur, I thought you'd want to at least go visit your old home."
The omega whimpered as he took a step back. "B-but... I-I can't leave... Not now. I w-would have gone with them two months ago, but I can't now! Alfred, we just mated and I'm pregnant! I can't go with them! I have to be here with you!"
Arthur's mother stood up. "We can get the mark removed and abort the child." Arthur's eyes widened in horror as he face his mother. "You're coming home with us, and if that's what it takes-"
"What the hell?" Matthew stood up, brows furrowed. "You'd kill a baby and take away his mating mark just so he'd visit!? He'll be coming right back here!"
"No, he's not," Alistair growled, standing beside his mother. "He'll be staying with us; permenantly."
Arthur gasped, backing up into Alfred. "N-no! I-I want to be here! I want to stay mated to Alfred a-and have his baby!"
Alfred gently placed his hands on Arthur's hips, growling at his omega's family. "I offered to let him visit, but if that isn't good enough for you, you can get the hell out of our house!" Arthur twisted around, tightly embracing Alfred and sobbing into his chest.
Slowly, all of them filed out of the house except for one. Peter ran over and hugged Arthur's waist. "I'll miss you, again. Call me, please?" Arthur smiled down at his younger brother and nodded. Peter grinned and dashed after the rest of his family.
~
"Good morning, my little prince or princess~," Alfred cooed, kissing Arthur's heavily swollen belly. Arthur giggled at his mate, taking a sip of tea. "I can't wait for when you come out. I wanna hold you and see you and play with you-"
"You can't play with them when they're so little, darling." Arthur whispered, placing his hands over Alfred's. Alfred only shrugged and continued to speak to the baby/babies.
Unexpectedly, the doorbell rang throughout the house. Arthur tilted his head as Alfred groaned. "I got it, Matt! It's probably for me, anyway," he shouted, climbing out of bed. He kissed Arthur once more before leaving the room and rushing downstairs, passed his younger brother and neice. Alfred sighed and opened the door. "Look, if you're selling something or want me to join your church or do business, you'll have to come back later. I'm busy right now, and-... Uhm, forget I said any of that. Mattie, it's for you! Come in." The man at the door nodded and stepped in, only slightly taller than Alfred.
"I'll be there in a moment!" Matthew called out, shuffling around before hurrying out. "Sorry I took so long, I-" Matthew paused when he spotted the man and gasped. "Mon dieu! Tim!" Matthew cried in delight, throwing his arms around his mate. "Tim, I've missed you so much!"
Tim chuckled, returning the embrace, but careful of the tulips he had in hand. "I missed you, too." Alfred chuckled and smiled, then laughed at the face Tim made as Mable lazily crawled out from behind the couch with her favorite toy. "I-is that...?"
Matthew giggled and nodded. "That's our baby, Tim. Mable, sweetie. Come here." Mable dragged herself over, then reached up for her mother. Matthew reached down and picked up the little girl. Tim gulped and reached out to her. "She has your eyes and your hair," the omega whispered.
Tim set the tulips down. "May I hold her?" He asked, voice soft and timid despite seeming intimidating. Matthew nodded and helped the Dutchman hold his daughter for the first time.
"I'll be upstairs if you need me," Alfred murmured and left the family alone.
~
Alfred cursed and clenched his teeth, feeling as if his hand was being crushed. However, he still muttering encouraging phrases to his mate that cried and screamed in the hospital bed beside him. "You can do it, babe... Almost there... Just a little more and we can hold our baby..."
"Just one more push, Arthur!" The doctor cheered, shooing off a midwife to gather supplies. "Breathe, and push on three." Arthur nodded, panting heavily. "One... Two..." Arthur sucked in a deep breath, squeezing Alfred's hand. "Three!"
Arthur screamed as he strained his body, then collapsed as a baby's cry filled the room. Alfred kissed Arthur's damp forehead and ran his thumb over the back of Arthur's hand. "You did great, babe," he whispered, helping his mate sit up and moved the pillows so he could sit comfortably.
The doctor grinned as he carefully handled the swaddled baby to its mother. Arthur smiled down at his baby and rocked them. "A healthy baby boy."
Alfred smiled softly as Arthur looked over at him with joyful tears in his eyes. Alfred sat on the bed beside him and kissed his hair. "I love you, Arthur... I love you so much... You name him. Whatever you want." Arthur nodded, leaning against Alfred and sobbing happily. Alfred wrapped his arms around his mate and baby, the doctor and midwives having left the room. "I love you two, more than anything."
"Alfred, look," Arthur whispered, his voice hoarse. "His eyes are a mix of ours."
The alpha chuckled. "Emerald skies, huh?" Arthur giggled, nuzzling against Alfred. "Get some rest, Artie. You need it."
