On a bright spring day, a young maiden hiked through a vivid green forest. She was searching for food, berries to be exact. 

   "Held captive by a brilliantly shining color, I stopped walking. Losing something is just painful, what I ran after was a dream.." Her alluring voice sang, attracting many small Pokemon to her. Her eyes gleamed with happiness when she spotted a ripe Oran berry tree. She happily ran over and started to collect as many berries as possible. She kept singing while she collected berries and finished a few minutes later. She climbed down from the Oran berry tree and began to walk off when she ran into something or someone. The maiden screamed in surprise as she fell backward, dropping her basket and spinning the ripe Oran berries on the ground. 

   "Ahh excuse me, miss." The girl looked up to see a tall, red-haired male. He got down onto his knees and started helping her pick her berries back up. 

   "What's your name? I'm Aki Night, a Leafeon." The girl spoke after finishing picking up the berries. The male looked at her and spoke, "Dan Surge. I'm a Pokemon Trainer."

   Now to them, this was the first time they ever met for they don't remember meeting each other at the labs 12 years ago. They both wanted to forget the horrible, nightmare-like scenarios they experienced there, so they forgot each other.  

   Aki's eyes widened in a mixture of awe, surprise, and disgust. 

   "How could anyone ever keep one of us in a ball? But your "friends" must be tired. Come to my house to rest." Aki smiled despite how she felt. Dan agreed and followed her to her home. On the way, the two chatted and eventually walked up to a cottage with smaller berry trees around it. "Welcome to my home!" Aki smiled and turned around to face him, "I know it's not much but, its been home to me for as long as I can remember!" On the way back, Dan had sent out his best friend, Blaze the Arcanine. 

   "We've been friends for a long time. He's very friendly." Dan said as he placed a hand on Blaze's large, fluffy shoulder, "You can pet him if you'd like to." Aki nodded nervously because she'd never been around such a large fire type Pokemon before. She warily reached her hand out and gently petted Blaze's forehead. 

   "He's very soft. You take very good care of him." Aki smiled softly, liking how well her fellow Pokemon were getting taken care of. Blaze eventually licked Aki's cheek as a thank you for all the petting and in return, Aki laughed. Dan looked down and smiled at them, happy about how well they were getting along.

   "Would it be alright if we could stay the night?" The red-head asked, breaking the silence between them. 

   Aki looked up at him and smiled, "Of course! I wouldn't mind the company. You can stay until you'd like to leave, that is if you wanted to." She secretly hoped that they would stay because this was the first contact with another human since she had lost her parents 6 years prior. She wanted to have a friend who was a human, not Pokemon for once. 

   Dan nodded and smiled slightly, "Thank you, Aki. We will take you up on your offer." Aki smiled and nodded. "Even though he's a trainer, he treats his Pokemon well. I'll still have to learn how to trust him, but at least I'll have a friend to talk to.." Aki thought as she leads them inside. 

  "I can sleep on the floor tonight and you can sleep on the bed." The 17-year-old said as she got a blanket and pillow out of her closet. She laid them down on the floor beside her bed.

   Dan shook his head, "No no you sleep on your bed. I'll sleep on the floor. You'll hurt your back."

   "No. I'm sleeping on the floor and that's that," Aki demanded as she grabbed her pajamas and walked into the bathroom to change. "There are some men's clothes in the closet from my father if you'd like to change!" Aki said from the restroom. She came out a few minutes later and saw Dan already half asleep on the bed. She smiled and laid down on her makeshift bed. 

   "Goodnight Aki."

   "Goodnight Dan." And with that, the two fell asleep.
