Chapter Six

It was our first full day back home. Thomas had teleported us back yesterday afternoon.

Prince still wasn't doing too well, but at least he was getting better. He just needed a lot of rest and time to heal.

For some reason, I ended up being Prince's main caretaker yesterday and today. Morality helped a bit, and Logic watched him to make sure he didn't accidentally upset Prince's stomach like last time. Thomas occasionally gave moral support, but for the most part, the three did their own things, and left me with Prince.

I'll admit that I was a bit worried the others will act like something had changed after what had happened with me and Prince.

Look, I just did it to save him.

It didn't mean anything.

"You doing okay, Prince?" I asked Prince, who was lying on the couch, barely awake.

"Yeah. I'm just a bit tired." Prince said.

"Then sleep. I'm not stopping you." I said.

Prince nodded, and closed his eyes. After a moment, his breathing steadied.

He fell asleep fast.

I slipped on my headphones and listened to My Chemical Romance.

"Is Prince asleep?" Came a voice from behind me.

I turned around and saw Logic. I took off my headphones and paused the music. "Yeah, he is."

"Seeing him sleep so serenely sort of gives a sense of deja vu, doesn't it?" Logic pointed out. "Only this time you won't have to kiss him." Logic hesitated. "Unless you wanted to, of course."

"First of all, consent matters." I said. "Second of all, it was one time and I did it to lift the curse. That's it. Can we please stop talking about that?"

"Are you just going to continue to deny your obvious romantic feelings for Prince?" Logic asked. "Is that what you hope to do?"

"I don't know, Logic, are you just going to continue to deny your obvious romantic feelings for Morality?" I returned.

"Touché." Logic said.

"Are you and Morality dating yet?" I asked casually. "I mean, it's obvious you both like each other."

"We're not yet officially dating, no." Logic said. "However, dating and just romantics in general was never my area of specialty."

I looked at Logic. "And yet you feel romantic feelings towards Morality. It goes against what you are, what you stand for... And yet, that much doesn't really matter. I'm pretty much the literal opposite of... all that, but I still feel romantic feelings. For Prince, no less."

"I can tell that you've been pondering this for a while," Logic said.

I nodded. I didn't say anything.

"Are you ever going to tell Prince the truth?" Logic asked.

"Sure, that'll go over well." I said sarcastically. I mocked a cheery voice. "By the way, Prince, the one person you hate the most, you know, the evil one who gives Thomas anxiety? Turns out he has a crazy crush on you and he's the one that broke the curse and then lied about it. No big deal, right?" I laughed in a bitter and sarcastic way.

"Anxiety, it's possible Prince doesn't hate you as much as you think he does." Logic said. "And he doesn't think you're evil. None of us do... Except you."

"Are you sure about that?" I raised an eyebrow. "Have you asked Prince? Cause I'm pretty sure I know his feelings on the matter."

"Look, Anxiety, Prince doesn't hate you." Logic sighed.

"You know, you're so talented in debate, one would expect a more sound argument coming from you." I said, sort of mocking him.

Logic began to reply, but was cut off by Morality's voice calling his name.

Logic sighed. "I'll go see what Morality wants." With that, he left.

I put on my headphones and listened to more MCR.

However, before even the first song finished, Prince stirred and woke up.

I took off my headphones once again.

"You weren't asleep for long at all." I commented harmlessly.

"No, I wasn't." Prince agreed.

He let a moment pass between us before he spoke again.

"Anxiety, look." Prince looked at me. "I'm a light sleeper. And I might have heard the conversation between you and Logic."

Prince must have seen my mortified expression, because he quickly added a "Sorry."

"You heard everything?" I blinked. I felt sick as I recalled what I had said in the conversation with Logic.

Prince nodded.

"So... You know." That's all I could manage to say.

Prince nodded again. "Why did you lie?"

"C'mon, Prince, don't kid yourself. If you were in my situation, you would do the same." I said.

"Totally would not have. I'm responsible." Prince argued.

I raised an eyebrow.

"Ugh, fine. Maybe." Prince admitted. "Would you have told me eventually, though?"

"Probably not." I said.

Prince hesitated before speaking again. "So you have a crush on me?"

I hesitated.

"I guess there's no point in lying. You heard me and Logic. You know the truth." I sighed.

"And you were the one who broke the curse." Prince said it like a statement.

"Yes." I said.

"And it worked." Prince said.

"Yes." I said.

"To be honest, even before I heard you and Logic, I sort of knew it was you who broke the curse." Prince admitted.

"You did?" I asked in surprise. "How?"

"You're a Disney fan. I expected you to know how it works." Prince said. "The curse can only be broken by a true love's kiss. And... in order for it to work, it has to go both ways."

I was too stunned to do anything but blink.

"When Morality tried to set me up with people, I knew it wasn't going to work. Yes, because of the fact that you can't truly love someone you just met—Thanks, Frozen—but also because I already loved someone." Prince said.

"What're you saying?" I asked.

"You really can't tell?" Prince asked.

"I think I know where this is going, but I don't want any confusion." I said. "Say it."

"You're going to make me say it?" Prince asked.

"Say it, Prince." I said.

"Ugh. Fine." Prince sighed. He took a deep breath and met my eyes. "Anxiety, I... I love you."

I allowed a small smile to form at the edge of my lips.

Logic came into the area almost immediately. "So you were lying about loving someone! I knew it!"

"What? Oh. Yeah. I guess... What're you doing here, Logic?" Prince blinked. He looked at Logic accusatory. "Were you listening?"

"You listened to the conversation between me and Anxiety. It's only fair." Logic said.

Prince sighed. "Is anyone else there?"

Morality and Thomas came.

"Oh, come on!" Prince exclaimed.

"Is it Eavesdrop-On-Anxiety's-Conversations Day or something?" I complained.

"That was so cute!" Morality said. "Aww!"

"I'm interested to see how this is going to play out." Thomas said.

Prince and I sighed and said at the same time, "OUT."

"Aww," Morality complained.

"Fine." Thomas sighed.

"And don't eavesdrop this time!" Prince added as the three left.

I waited until they left and the door closed behind them to talk again. "I think we need to get them back for that."

Prince smiled. "I'm in."

"But first..." I hesitated. "So what are we?"

"What do you want to be?" Prince asked.

"I don't know." I shrugged. "Blech. 'Boyfriend' is such a cringey term. Can't we just... I dunno, go to a movie sometime and not care about labels?"

Prince smiled. "Deal."
