Chapter Four

We had gone back for Prince later on, of course, but we had made it seem like we were just arriving there, after he was awake.

It took some convincing to get the other three to go along with my lie.

"You know Roman. He's a romantic. He's going to wonder who woke him up for probably the rest of his life."

That was Morality.

"It's better than him knowing that it was the one person he hates the most. Look, I know you guys would rather not lie to Prince, but... I'm sorry. We have to. He cannot know it was me."

How would he react if he knew that the annoying good-for-nothing heartless villain Anxiety was the one who woke him up? With a kiss?

The others stayed quiet after that, but they still didn't seem optimistic to lie to Prince.

We walked into the room and found Prince awake and sitting on the bed.

"Roman!" Morality ran up and hugged him. Thomas followed and did the same.

"It's good to have you back, Princey." Thomas smiled.

"I'm glad you're awake." Logic said.

I stood in the back somewhat awkwardly, distancing myself from the group.

"How long was I asleep?" Prince asked.

"An hour." Logic provided.

"Pssh, only an hour? I sleep longer than that at night." Prince said.

"It was more the thought that you could be in a coma for hundreds of years." Thomas said.

I stared at the floor. I was glad Prince was back, but I didn't do anything to show it.

"Anxiety?" I heard my name spoken in Prince's dramatic royal accent that he sometimes has.

I looked up at met Prince's eyes. It was like the time in Thomas's house before we left, but this time it was so much more.

"Prince," I said in recognition. "I guess... It's good to have you back."

"Anxiety, look." Prince said. "I'm sorry for not listening to you. If I had listened to you, we would've been saved a whole lot of trouble. And... I'm sorry for what I said to you. It's not true. I don't think that. Anxiety, you're you. And who you are is amazing."

"What did he say?" Morality asked.

"Hmm, let's see here." I said, making a dramatic act to show that I was thinking. "Oh! He said I was of no benefit to Thomas and that if I cared about Thomas, I wouldn't give him anxiety. He said that if I were in control, Thomas would be a wreck. He basically implied that I was a villain."

"ROMAN!" Morality scolded. "That's not very nice."

"It's not true, either." Thomas said. "Sure, you give me anxiety, but you can't help it. It's what you do. But there's a side of you that's caring and loveable, too. You do benefit me, Anxiety. And let's face it, if any one of you were in control, I would be a wreck. That's why we have balance. I don't want to be too intellectual, because I might forget to take in emotions, and they matter too. I don't want to be too emotions-based, either, because I might forget to see the logical side of things, and that's important. I don't want to be too courageous, because I might lose a sense of reality. But then again, I don't want to be scared to make a bold move because then I wouldn't do anything. Don't you see? You guys work well together, in harmony. No one's in control. And you're all on the same team. No one is the antagonist."

"Thank you, Thomas." I smiled, just a bit. Then I glared at Thomas. "But how dare you call me caring and loveable? I didn't think I was THAT bad."

Thomas sighed. "Yeah, well, there goes that."

"Although, in all fairness... in the heat of the moment, I did fire back some pretty bad things at Prince." I admitted.

"Oh no, do we even want to know what you said?" Morality asked.

"Nah." I said. I sighed and turned to Prince. "Prince, look... I'm sorry. Sorry for calling you a dumb prince. Actually, no I'm not, cause that much is true. And when I said you were going to get yourself cursed. That was very true."

"Anxiety!" Morality scolded.

"Ugh, fine." I sighed. "Prince, I'm sorry I didn't try to see things from your perspective. You were just trying to save Aurora. It's the good-hearted thing to do."

"Thank you, Anxiety." Prince smiled.

"But I mean, it turned out I was right all along..." I muttered.

"And the moment's gone." Thomas announced.

"So," Prince said, trying to be casual. "Do you guys happen to know who woke me up?"

I knew that question was coming.

"No clue." I said. "We weren't here for it."

"They probably just didn't want you to know it was them." Morality said.

"Why wouldn't they want me to know?" Prince asked, confused.

"Not sure." Morality said. "Maybe they thought you h—"

"Morality, I don't think it's wise to make inferences based on such limited data. We don't know anything about who woke Prince up." Logic interrupted and readjusted his glasses.

I met Logic's eyes and gave him a look of gratitude.

"So, time to go home?" Thomas asked.

"We can't go home yet!" Prince and I protested simultaneously.

"Going home now would be unwise." Logic said.

"We've changed the story, and the story we created isn't done yet." I said. "Maleficent is still out there, and she won't be defeated if we don't do something." I sighed. "I hate to admit it, but Prince, we're gonna need you to be heroic."

Prince grinned. "She can't be worse than the Dragon Witch, can she?"

"Let's hope not." I said.

"Okay, we need a plan." Logic said. "You can't just wing it."

"Says who?" Asked Prince.

"Says the smart one." I said. "You should listen to him."

"Hey!" Prince said defensively, then he sighed. "Alright. Fine. Last time I didn't listen I got cursed. So... We'll make a plan."

Logic explained what he was thinking.

"I can't believe we're going to do this." Thomas said.

"I'm ready." Prince smiled.

"Let's do it." I said.
