80 : A Prehistoric Dust Bout
< AUTHOR NOTE BEGINS >
Now before we begin this chapter we see that the results of the previous poll are :-
1) Ash will win : This has the most number of votes. The main reasoning is not only the fact that he has got an early lead but also because he has more experience.
2) Tied Result : This is on the 2nd spot. And why shouldn't it be. All the battle which are being fought are so tight I imagine for some of you it is sending chills down your spines.
3) Interruption by a criminal organization : This is the 3rd most popular option selected. My readers know that the last thing to expect from me is the UNEXPECTED. So I guess this makes sense.
4) Serena Winning : Only 1 person has voted for this. Interesting. Curious. Very Curious.
Now without further ado enjoy this chapter.

(In the Battlefield)
"Looks like you won one round at least. Took you long enough. I was beginning to get worried, thinking that you had lost your touch." Ash says.
"Careful what you poke with a stick. It might just come back and bite you later." Serena says.
"This round goes to Serena Yvonne. Trainers send out your next Pokemon." Referee says.
"Alright then. Time to come out my speedy grass type. Sceptile. I choose you." Ash says as he tosses his Pokemon.
"Scep Sceptile." Sceptile says as he puts a twig in his mouth as a cigar.
"Prepare for some yourself for some prehistoric might. Aerodactyl tame the sky with a fright." Serena says as she tosses her Poke-ball which receives a massive Aerodactyl which starts flying everywhere while baring its teeth at the spectators.
"Here." Serena says in a firm tone as Aerodactyl continues giving blood curling growls. On hearing Serena's voice Aerodactyl lands in front of Serena. It pauses for a moment to everyone's confusion except Ash and Serena's. Then it suddenly gives a growl while baring its teeth as it charges at Serena to everyone's shock. A moment before Aerodactyl is about to pounce on Serena she raises her foot and stomps it out the ground firmly which causes Aerodactyl to come to a stop mere centimeters from Serena's face while both intensely look into one another's eyes. After a few moments Aerodactyl closes its jaws and then bows his head in front of Serena who relaxes her facial expression.
"Oh come here you big prehistoric goof." Serena say while smiling as she scratches Aerodactyl's chin who responds by affectionately nuzzling his beak with Serena's body.

"I don't believe it." Byron says in a tone of disbelief.
"Yeah. Me neither." Roark replies in an equally dazed tone.
"What are you all so shocked about. I thought you two would be the last people to be shocked about a prehistoric Pokemon given the fact that you spend all your time digging up fossils of prehistoric Pokemon all the time." Cynthia says.
"While it's true that we have seen many an Aerodactyl in our lives we have never seen one like that." Roark says.
"So it's bigger. What's the big deal. Even I have one." Lance says.
"It's size is not why we are surprised." Roark replies.
"Then why are you surprised?" Diantha asks.
"That's a wild one right there." Byron says.
"Meaning?" Rowan asks.
"Meaning. That Aerodactyl is a wild one. it was not restored from a Fossil." Roark says.
"Impossible. Prehistoric Pokemon like Aerodactyl can only be sourced from viable fossils. They are called Prehistoric for a reason." Birch says.
"I am telling you Professor. That is a wild one right there. It's evident from it's behavior." Roark says.
"What do you mean?" Delia asks.
"And why did it charge my daughter like that?" Grace asks.
"Alright. I'll explain. Whenever we restore a Prehistoric Pokemon from a viable fossil it undergoes a transformation of sorts." Roark says.
"Meaning?" Lillie asks.
"Prehistoric Pokemon are very aggressive by nature. In fact my studies have shown that this is genetic by nature caused due to the extremely hostile environment they were used to before their extinction. So when they are revived from fossils due to the fossilization process their DNA gets changed in such a manner that upon restoration the revived Pokemon is a little smaller in size and more docile by nature. We call this the calibration effect on the fossilization. I wrote a paper on it due to which I was invited to join this institution. But that Pokemon is not only aggressive but also extremely large." Gary says while coming to the rescue.
"So that means " Delia says.
"that it is a wild Aerodactyl." Roark says, completing Delia's sentence for her.
"But the Aerodactyl is Serena's Pokemon. Why would it attack Serena who is it's trainer?" Grace asks.
"That is because of it's wild, aggressive prehistoric violent nature." Lance says.
"If that were so then why did it stop charging at Serena the moment Serena stomped her foot. Also why did she do that?" Grace asks.
"If I were to take a guess Grace. I would say that the stomping of her foot was the way for Serena to establish her authority on who is the boss." Roark replies.
"You mean like declaring who is the alpha male in a pack?" Diantha asks.
"Exactly like that. It would be reasonable to hypothesis a Pokemon like a Aerodactyl with such a wild temperament would respect strength above all else." Oak reasons.
"So if Serena did not have the required caliber or strength needed?" Palermo asks in a somewhat afraid tone.
"Then it's highly possible that a carnivorous Pokemon like Aerodactyl would have had a hearty meal and then flown away." Roark says causing Palermo to be internally thankful that Serena hadn't used her Aerodactyl in any of her performances.
"This alone proves Serena's great capacity as a trainer." Lance says to which all the champions agree while nodding.
"Either way this will be a good fight. Sceptile has an grass type advantage against Aerodactyl's rock typing while Aerodactyl has an Flying type advantage against Sceptile's grass type." Bertha says in an interested tone.
"But where did she find a wild one?" Alder asks in a suspicious tone.
"All good questions Alder. But then again we do know who their master is now don't we?" Lance says as an uneasy silence descends into the room.

(In the Battlefield)
"Battle begin." Referee announces. Everyone watches as both trainers mega evolve their Pokemon.
"Alright then Sere. Now we are in the second more decisive half of the battle. Let's see how well you fare against my Pokemon." Ash says as Sceptile gives a roar.
"Be my guest. My Aerodactyl will crush that Sceptile of yours like a toothpick." Serena replies back.
"We'll see about that." Ash says.
"We will indeed." Serena replies.
(In the VIP Box)
"Mega Evolution again. This is getting irritating." Gary groans.
"Well I am not complaining." Sycamore says in a happy tone as he analyzes the data.
"Of course you aren't. After all you only analyze the data. It is us who has to take a thrashing in battle." Alain says.
"Don't complain. I don't recall seeing any matches where they used more than 2 Mega stones when they were battling against you. There the odds were more than fair. Besides it's not everyday you get to study the energy emission of an Mega Evolved prehistoric Pokemon." Sycamore says.
"Sure. Sure. Personally I am sick of them having so many Mega Stones. It's unfair." Dawn says.
"Well nobody is." Diantha says before being cut off by May.
"stopping us from finding our own. I heard that the first time. It still sucks." May replies.
"While I don't approve of the language used but I do sympathize with you." Diantha says after sighing.
"On a more important note. That's 7 mega stones already in this battle. Isn't that kind of like a record." Juniper interjects which causes a round of murmuring in the VIP Box.
"Yes indeed. That did slip our minds. It must be a record for the most number of mega stones used in a battle. We'll check the records and confirm your suspicions." Goodshow says while nodding to his assistance.
(Back in the Battlefield)
Both Ash and Serena don't say anything. Then suddenly their eyes flicker they come back to life.
"Use Flamethrower." Serena commands.
"Dodge and use Leaf Storm." Ash commands as Sceptile darts out of harm's way and then attacks by using Leaf Storm.
"Deflect with Whirlwind." Serena commands as Aerodactyl flaps it's wings which creates a gust of air which deflects the Leaf Storm.
"Stone Edge go." Serena orders.
"Dodge it." Ash says as Sceptile effortlessly dodges the Stone Edge. Suddenly an idea comes in Ash's mind.
"Frenzy Plant." Ash commands. Sceptile rams its palms together and suddenly starts going up into the sky using the ever growing Frenzy Plant as a lift.
"Not bad. Fire Spin go." Serena commands.
"Jump and use Leaf Blade." Ash commands.
"Be my guest for a close combat situation use Ice Fang." Serena commands as Ash gets tense knowing how powerful an Ice type move will be on Sceptile.
'Not good. She inflicted a lot more damage on Sceptile than I did on Aerodactyl.' Ash says as Sceptile drops down to the ground.
"Now it's my turn. Use Aerial Ace." Serena commands.
"Take it then catch it." Ash orders. Moments later Aerodactyl slams into Sceptile but Sceptile manages to hold on to Aerodactyl.
"Now use Absorb." Ash commands.
"Fly. Shake it of." Serena screams at the top of her lungs.
"Whatever you do. Don't let go." Ash shouts in an equal volume.
"Alright. In that case go into a spinning dive." Serena says.
"Use Vine Whip to restrain it." Ash says as Sceptile is thrown of Aerodactyl. On hearing Ash's commands Sceptile corrects itself in mid air and then snakes Aerodactyl in a Vine Whip lasso.
"Excellent." Ash says as Sceptile lands back on his feet while digging it's feet deep into the ground to ensure the writhing Aerodactyl doesn't escape.
"Giga Drain." Ash commands.
"Grrrrr. Break free already will you." Serena shouts as Aerodactyl continues thrashing about while being held in its place by Sceptile who is happily draining Aerodactyl's energy.
"What do I do? What do I?" Serena says to herself when she notices how Sceptile is holding Aerodactyl in place while pulling the Vine Whip lassos with all of its might.
'Maybe I can use that momentum.' Serena thinks to herself.
"Instead of going against the Lasso go towards Sceptile. Use Iron head." Serena commands as Ash gets taken aback.
"Oh no. Sceptile Protect." Ash orders. Sceptile manages to fire up the protect but it quickly breaks and Sceptile is sent flying.
(In the VIP Box)
"Nicely done." Paul remarks as Aerodactyl slams into Sceptile while using Iron Head.
"How did Serena do that?" May asks.
"She very cleverly noticed that Sceptile was using all of its might to hold Aerodactyl close to the ground while it was siphoning of its power with Giga Drain. So instead of Aerodactyl trying to break free by fighting against the pulling force of the Vine Whip lasso Sceptile was using she had Aerodactyl use an attack towards Sceptile." Rowan remarks.
"Then why did the Protect break?" Dawn asks.
"Simple because Aerodactyl used Iron Head in the direction of Sceptile so the force of Sceptile's pull also got incorporated into it thereby making the Iron Head even stronger. This is why the Protect broke." Brock says as May and Dawn nod while the others watch with a passive expression on their faces.
(Back in the Battlefield)
"Use Dragon Breath." Serena orders.
"Seed Bomb into Thunder Punch." Ash commands which catches Serena by surprise. She watches the Seed Bomb and Dragon Breath cause some fire work like explosions following which Sceptile smashes Thunder Punch into Aerodactyl's torso.
"Leech Seed." Ash orders as Aerodactyl tries to settle its balance in the air.
"Fly out of range." Serena orders as Aerodactyl flies out of leech seed's range.
"Grassy Terrain." Ash orders as the ground begins to sparkle with green sparkles.
"Sunny Day." Serena orders.
"Even though your fire type moves are stronger but so is my Solar Beam and Synthesis. You sure you want to risk it?" Ash taunts Serena.
"You know what. That is a problem. Why don't we deal with that. Cover the battlefield with swirling sand. Use Sand Storm." Serena commands while Ash smirks.
"So care to enter the swirling labyrinth of doom?" Serena asks Ash as Aerodactyl flies into the sandstorm which covers the battlefield.
"Very well then. Let's have it then. Head to head clash. What do you say Sere. Tough enough to accept." Ash says.
Serena looks at Ash for a moment. Then says "Bring it." as Sceptile enters the Sandstorm as well.
(In the Battlefield)
"What do they mean?" Max asks in a confused tone.
"Pokemon to Pokemon. Head to head clashing with pure power. No help till hell hath no fury. They're planning to go on only on that." Lance says as everyone looks at him with an expression of shock.
After Lance finishes talking Diantha turns to Sycamore and says "You sure the 3 rows closest to the battlefield were evacuated?"
"Yes." Sycamore whispers back.
"Very well then." Diantha says as she drinks some water to calm herself down.

(Back in the Battlefield)
"Use Dragon Claw." Serena shouts.
"Counter with the same." Ash roars. An explosion goes of in the middle of the Sand Storm as the chairs in the stadium begin to vibrate.
"Go Aerodactyl. Destroy with Steel Wing into Crunch." Serena shouts.
"Show them their place with your power. Use Thunder Punch." Ash roars. Another fierce explosion goes of inside the Sand Storm which again sends torrents of Sand Air through out the stadium forcing the spectators to cover their eyes with their arms.
The stadium watches in stunned silence as they watch explosion after explosion go inside the Sand storm which is sending shock waves through out the stadium seats.
"WAAAAAAAAAAAAAH." Ash and Serena roar as they get both start attacking without holding anything back. As the battle intensifies the shock waves sent out start ripping portions of their dresses while they continue to battle mercilessly while the stadium begins to shake.
(In the VIP Box)
"What a b-b-battle?" May stutter in a tone mixed with amazement and fear.
"No wonder. According to the readings each and every hit has almost 3 times the attack power of the moves used before hand." Rowan says as everyone gets shocked.
"Ash Serena. You are using so much strength and power to keep yourselves in the battle. You and your Pokemon won't be able to handle it." Grace says in a shaky tone.
"Even if they know that. I don't think they can control it." Diantha says in a fearful tone.
"Meaning?" Delia asks.
"Meaning look at their facial expressions. That's not a logical calm look. The expression on their faces is that one born of a primal need to survive." Diantha says causing Delia and Grace to get worried.
"How can they battle inside that Sand Storm?" Max asks as the explosions continue occurring inside the Sand Storm and torrents of Sand wind keeps being sent outwards causing the spectators to shield their eyes with their arms.
"They can see alright." Paul says.
"What do you mean?" Dawn asks as the box feels another jolt of shock waves.
"Even in that swirling sand. They can see without any problem." Paul says.
"But how?" Max asks in a flabbergasted tone.
"I think I can answer that." Lance says.
"You can?" Burnet says in a surprised tone.
"Yes. You were not there at that time were you? Ash and Serena trained on top of Mt. Moon and Silver for months. They endured the strongest and harshest weather up there. Be it a swirling sandstorm or a freezing blizzard. They can see. Adversity in battle conditions is now second nature to them." Lance says as the battle rages on in the arena with beams of Dragon Pulse leaving the Sand Storm. This is followed by an explosion which causes the Sand Storm to collapse and the dust to settle.
(In the Battlefield)
Everyone watches with baited breath as the dust settles. What they see takes them by surprise. They see Ash and Serena smirking at each other with several tears in their clothes. Aerodactyl and Sceptile on the other hands are standing face to face while panting incessantly. Their bodies are covered with burn marks, scratch marks and bite marks.
"I must say Serena I am disappointed. I expected more from you. Let me have it." Ash says in a taunting manner.
"If you insist." Serena snaps following which Aerodactyl slams into Sceptile by using Iron head. This causes an explosion which lifts Ash of his feet and causes him to get slammed a little away from the where he was standing. Grace and Delia get shocked when they don't see Serena showing a trace of remorse.
"Why you? You think you are so great. I'll take care of that Aerodactyl in one shot. Sceptile." Ash roars after he gets up. Sceptile slams into Aerodactyl by using Dual Chop which causes an explosion which this time send Serena of her feet. Both Grace and Delia are now shocked when Serena gets up and Ash and Serena both smirk at each other before having a small laugh.
"While I have missed this kind of battling but I think the audience are getting a little scared Ash. We should cut them some slack." Serena says.
"On second thoughts you might be right." Ash says as he examines the spectators.
"But the battle must continue. And I am still winning Ash. Signature move. Prehistoric Sky Terror Attack." Serena commands. Aerodactyl gives a roar following which it takes of into the sky and then dissapears into the clouds. A few moments later the clouds begin to change their shape. Then suddenly a red eye appears in the cloud following which the spectators realize that the cloud has taken the shape of a gigantic Aerodactyl with red eye. Following this several rock tomb like stones start revolving around Aerodactyl. The cloud Aerodactyl gives an unearthly cry before it starts swooping down towards Sceptile on the ground.
"Don't think you are the only one with a Signature move. Dragon Missile." Ash commands. Sceptile's tail glows sparkling green. Then the spike like projections on it's tail get fired like Pin Missiles with the only difference is that these missiles consist of Dragon and Grass type energy. The Cloud Aerodactyl opens its mouth and swallow the missiles following which an explosion occurs in mid air which sends a wave of energy which pushes everyone in the stands back into their seats. After the dust settles Aerodactyl and Sceptile are shown standing on the scorched and cracked battlefield while panting incessantly.
'Aerodactyl has only sufficient juice left for one final attack. Need to make this count.' Serena thinks to herself while analyzing the situation.
'Sceptile is on its last legs. But I am sure Aerodactyl must be at its limit to. Need to act fast.' Ash thinks to himself while planning his next move.
"We both know this is the last clash. Want to go out big?" Serena asks.
"I don't see why can't we?" Ash replies causing Serena to smirk.
"Giga Impact. Go." Serena commands as Aerodactyl gets covered in a veil of purplish yellow energy.
"Dragon Rush now." Ash roars as Sceptile musters all of it's remaining strength and start running very fast before getting covered by a veil of Dragon Rush.
"WAAAAAAAAAAAAAH." Ash and Serena shout as their Pokemon clash with their respective moves. The clash is very fierce with bolts of energy coming from the point of contact and scorching random parts of the battlefield. Suddenly the clash reaches its critical value and a blinding explosion occurs which results in a beam of light shooting out from the dust bowl straight up into the sky and the stadium to get rocked violently.
Suddenly a bolt of red lightning strikes the ground and the same fear instilling image flashes before everyone's eyes for a moment.
After recovering from the shocks(both physical and mental) everyone watches with baited breath as the dust settles to see who won the clash.
