Recalling The Past
It was nighttime at Lonesome Flats, and barely a creature was awake that evening. Not even the chirps of crickets could be heard. However, that night, the silence would be broken by the sounds of bells ringing frantically. At the Lonesome Prison, a figure was screwing in what looked like a bolt to a weird mechanism. He then placed it on the wall and stepped back a couple of feet, his back against the prison bars. With a pull of a string that was connected, the wall exploded, leaving a huge hole. Bells immediately went off as the shadowy figure emerged outside, revealing himself to be Typhoon, as he stretched and said, "Finally! Any longer, and my tail would bend in agony from being in that rotting cell"! He heard what sounded like galloping and began to make his getaway. A bunch of the country troll spotted him and began to chase after him, spending almost all night trying to recapture the fugitive. But once Typhoon got into the water, he swam faster than the speed of sound as the country trolls spent most of the night following the creek, trying to catch up to him. Typhoon smirked as he arrived towards an area where the creek parted five ways and took the far-right path. The country trolls lost him before they could even catch him. In fear, they galloped back to Lonesome Flats and informed Growly Pete, who made a mad dash to Delta Dawn while the sun was beginning to rise. He pounded on the door as the tired Sheriff opened her door, saying, "Growly Pete, what's a-goin' on this here awful early in thay ...uhh morning"? While his response to her was in growls, Delta easily translated what she said, and she became horrified, saying as she rushed to the phone on her desk, "Ay've gotta tell Buckaroo! Ayn' pray ta tell her ayn' Aggie ken warn poaw Laguna in tahm...befawe he gets ta huurr."
Once the sun started to rise in the sky properly, all the trolls in Trollstopia were up and outside as Laguna and her mom Twilight were both waiting for something in particular. Suddenly, a mini version of the Vibe City spaceship appeared in front of them, revealing Aggie as the pilot as she said with a smile, "All aboard the S.S. Aggie! Next stop? Vibe City"! Laguna found herself snickering as Twilight commented, "You are quite the hilarious troll, Aggie. That's one gnarly ride ya got there." Aggie replied, "It's one of the mini spaceships they have at Vibe City. A lot of other trolls use it to get around and visit other places. Luckily for me, I got up extra early today to ask Quincy and Essence if I could borrow it to bring Laguna and you up to Vibe City, and it was a unanimous yes. So, you ready to go"? Laguna nervously nodded as her mother told her, "No worries, kelpcake. We'll be right here with you." With that, Laguna and Twilight entered the mini spaceship as Aggie piloted it all the way to Vibe City. It was a short ride, but an exciting one as Aggie flew inside the giant spaceship and landed in the mini spaceship parking lot. Once officially landed, the door swung open, and everyone exited and began to take in their surroundings. For Aggie, it was a familiar sight to be in Vibe City, but for the Techno troll duo, Vibe City was a whole new world. There were so many bright, vibrant colors and shapes almost everywhere you looked. Just like McJagger, so many of the other funk trolls wore colorful, tie-dye clothing that matched the colors around them. Everyone seemed to be really chill and friendly with one another.
Twilight could mutter in awe, "Fair dinkum. This place is like a whole 'nother land. This really gives new meaning to out of this world"! Laguna was also in awe as she then suddenly found herself bobbing her head to funk music that was playing in the distance. A group of funk trolls were singing and swaying to Atomic Dog, and a lot of the trolls watching were either dancing or singing along. Laguna smiled and began to feel a lot more comfortable being in a new place, especially since she's started dating McJagger, she's grown a fascination for funk music. Seeing Laguna feeling a lot less nervous than before was a warming sight for Twilight and Aggie, especially since she would soon be talking to someone she's not familiar with yet. After a few more minutes of taking in their surroundings, the trio finally arrived at their destination: The Positive Vibe Session building. Aggie held the door as Twilight and Laguna entered and looked around. At the moment, it was a big waiting room where a couple of funk trolls were waiting patiently. Twilight walked up to the receptionist as a cyan-blue female funk troll greeted her, saying, "Good morning. How may I help you"? Twilight tipped her fedora as she said, "G'day, mate. We have an appointment set for a Laguna Tidepool today." The receptionist looked in her book before saying with a smile, "Oh yes. We have a Ms. Laguna scheduled for a 10 am session. Right on time. Please, you and your daughter may have a seat and wait to be called."
Twilight, Laguna, and Aggie took a seat by some chairs near a stack of magazines as Aggie offered Laguna one, who kindly declined, while the Master of All Music dug into reading one of them. However, Laguna folded her hands and slowly awaited her turn, her nerves beginning to rise again. Her mom noticed Laguna feeling nervous again as she asked, "How're ya feeling, kelpcake? Still got those jitters"? Laguna nodded as she replied, "Note: I...don't know if I feel entirely comfortable with this. I don't...trust the therapist...yet...nor do I trust if his aid will actually help me." Aggie looked up from her magazine as she says, "Don't worry, Laguna. I'll be right next to you the whole time. And from what I heard Essence tell me about the therapist, you might find a sense of security in him, and he has a very trustworthy application." Hearing Aggie say that made Laguna feel a little better, and it made her find a sense of relief knowing she had someone she could trust stay with her throughout her first therapy session. Still, she couldn't help but feel really skeptical. It's not that she didn't trust Aggie. She trusted her a lot. But...let's say she never had a lucky streak when it came to making friends. In fact, she barely had any. However, she did have a long streak of bullies who loved to tease her for her love for knowledge, and it planted a huge target once she started school.
Flashback to several years ago...
At Techno Reef Elementary, many young students were swimming through the halls, rushing to their classes, or hanging out with their friends in big groups. One Techno Troll could be seen with her head in a book, which you can easily tell, was Laguna. Even as a young child, she still had her signature glasses, which were big at the time, and had a love for reading. Every time she opened a book, she found herself feeling content. Almost like she could be living the lives her characters lived in their stories. Sometimes, she wished she had their lives, especially when compared to how things were back home. Between her mom always being busy and her dad just plain ignoring her, school and her book were her only escape from the harsh realities she's gone through. However, the only difference is that her books acted more like a haven than school did because she wasn't treated very nicely in school either. Other students would call her teacher's pet in every class because she was more academically superior than they were, despite the teacher's attempt to stop them from the name-calling. However, the worst part was when she would be transferring to her next class.
As she swam through the halls, a bigger kid would come up from behind her and shove her to the ground, making her fall and drop her book. She struggled to stand up as she was soon face-to-face with her biggest bully: Typhoon. He loved to tease her for being smart and classifying her as weak because every time he acted physically mean towards her, she would take it and not fight back. At the moment, Laguna looked up in fear as a younger but bigger Typhoon looked down at her and said menacingly, "Hey, four-eyes! Going to class"? Laguna quickly got up before she felt herself get picked up by the hair as Typhoon sneered, "Aw, what's the matter? Can't fight back against me, shrimp"? Laguna struggled as she says in a panicked tone of voice, "Put me down! I'm going to be late for class"! Typhoon chuckled as he replied, "Oh, look. The poor book eel doesn't want to be late for class. No worries, maybe I can help you." That evil look in his eyes terrified her as she shouted, "No! Please! not that again"! Typhoon adjusted his grip, so he was holding poor young Laguna like a football as he shouted, 'I'm going for a touchdown," as he threw Laguna across the wall, making her crash into an open locker that closed shut, surprising a janitor. He turned and saw Typhoon cackling as he swam away. The janitor then turned his attention to opening the locker, revealing a hurt and shaken Laguna sobbing uncontrollably while holding her head in pain. The janitor picked her up and took her to the nurse's office, but the stares she got from the other kids around her were enough to make Laguna cover her eyes and try to hide herself from the other students.
End of flashback
Merely that flashback alone was enough to get Laguna nervous as she brought her "knee" up and sigh slowly in fear. It crushed Twilight to see her daughter like this, but what made it even worse was that Laguna has been keeping this in ever since she was little, and who knows how much emotional pain she's suffered through? Aggie also felt bad for Laguna because no troll should've ever gone through what Laguna had to got through, and she wanted to help however she could, but Aggie felt conflicted as to how exactly she could help. Suddenly, all three trolls perked their heads up as the receptionist said, "Ms. Laguna to room 4B, please." Laguna shakily breathed in and out as they began to walk to the room. Inside, it looked like a normal office room, except that there weren't any desks. Just a single yellow chair on the right and a long red couch on the left, big enough to fit three trolls at once. Laguna nervously sat down on the couch as Aggie sat next to her on the right, while Twilight sat on the left. While the trio awaited for the therapist to arrive, Twilight held Laguna's hand as she said in her most caring voice, "It'll all be ok, whippersnapper. You're just going to be talking to the therapist, that's all. And you got Aggie and me for moral support." Laguna displayed a small semi-smile as Aggie held her other hand, saying, "You have nothing to worry about. You talk at your own pace and share at your own comfortable pace as well."
The door opened soon as they looked up to see that the therapist arrived, but it was someone that Laguna, and certainly Twilight, was not expecting. Prince D was wearing a white coat and a pair of glasses for a change, as he said, "Good morning, ladies. Shall we get started," as he sat down in the yellow chair. Laguna, a little confused, said, "Prince D, what are you doing here? I thought I was expecting someone a little...older... to be my therapist, no offense." He smiled and said, "None taken, Laguna, and I can see why. However, when I'm not laying down beats or chilling with my fam, I work as a part-time therapist and help trolls find their positive vibes and use them to heal. I heard about your case, and I'm ready to help however I can if you'll let me, that is." Twilight chuckled as she said, "Fair dinkum. When I think I know Essence, she surprises me again. I never knew you were interested in therapy, Prince D." The prince of funk/hip-hop replied, "Well, I love to give advice and help others who are mentally going through a lot. So, I've been doing some training and became a part-time therapist, helping those who just need that special help." Aggie then asked, "How long have you been doing this for, Prince D"? He answered, "For a couple of months now. Anyways, let's get started. So, Laguna, on a scale of small to significant, where do you rate your emotional pain"? Laguna shrugged as she answered, "I guess...maybe significant"? Prince D wrote this on a clipboard as he then asked, "And mentally, where are you currently"? Laguna solemnly replied, "Well, not feeling too good. I'm deeply, emotionally torn, and... scared if I'm honest." Prince D then asked, "So, what causes you to feel this internal state of fear? Any environmental factors? Or something related to society"/
Laguna twiddled her thumbs as she replied, "Well, I'm scared of a lot of things...like what if my mom gets hurt and doesn't return for real this time? What if something happens to her concerning what happened to me? What if...my dad returns...and does something drastic to my mom and me? What if some random troll decides to do it?! What if some troll decides to kill us"?! Laguna felt herself getting tense as hot tears streamed down her face while Prince D wrote this down, saying, "Hm...it sounds like you have a lot of emotional turmoil pent up. Aggie, can you pull out the bucket that's under the couch"? Aggie nodded and pulled out a white bucket that was full of different squeeze toys and mechanisms. Prince D explained, saying, "These are stress relievers and anxiety toys. If you feel yourself getting tense or struggle to think straight, just pick up one of those, and you'll feel a little better." Laguna fished through the bucket and found a small red pufferfish that glowed and squeaked every time you squeezed it, and after squeezing it a couple of times, Laguna felt her body relax and be a little less stressed than before. Prince D took note of this as he then asked, "Now, can you try to explain what causes these fears"?
Laguna nodded as she squeezed the pufferfish toy before saying, "I guess...it all started when I was very young. I...hold on a sec." Laguna then turned her head to face her mom, saying, "Mom, what I'm about to say, please, promise me you won't be too upset with what you hear." Twilight nodded, saying, "I will try, kelpcake, but you say what you need to say. Anything to help you relieve some of those gnarly fears, Laguna." Laguna smiled before she took a deep breath, saying, "It all started...when I was very young. I was supposed to be your average, run-of-the-mill kid who was curious, loved her family, and wanted to make friends. But I wasn't like that. I was different. Once I could walk, talk, and started to do some things for myself, things at home changed drastically. Mom was always busy with her job, so she never stuck around the house long enough to spend time with me and usually came home late at night. Sometimes, she had days where she could spend a little time with me. Others, she was gone for days...weeks...one time, a whole month. She missed many things: my science fair projects/the mom/daughter dances/ even almost all my birthdays. I never had a matriarchal role-model to look up to, so I learned how to be my own troll. And even now, sometimes, I find it hard to bond with her the way other kids would at a young age, especially since she's missed out so much." Twilight did her best to hold her tears back, but even she couldn't hide them. She's been a terrible mom, and despite her best efforts, she knows deep down, their bond won't be the same as if they were doing this many years ago. Aggie felt bad for Twilight but felt even worse for Laguna because she's been holding this in.
Then, Laguna faced her mother with tears brimming as she said, "16 years...I've lived without you acting as a mother in my life for 16 years. I've learned to become independent without your help. I've learned to think and act for myself without you! I've found what I've wanted to do with my life without you! And do you think I'm happy about it, mom?! I'm not! Every day, when I see kids or other trolls spending time with their moms, I have to bite my tongue and swallow the fact that I'll never get to have that! We'll never get to have that! I love you with all my heart, but sometimes, I have to ask how can you let a troll live like that?! Growing up without a mother figure in her life?! Was your work more important than your own daughter?! And dad didn't even do slime about it! He just ignored me and left me alone like I was a barnacle! A barnacle"! Aggie remained silent as inside, she was stunned beyond belief. She's never seen Laguna this upset nor angry at anyone before, and the fact that she was venting all those eyes of hurt and frustration at Twilight now made the situation a lot tenser. Laguna was not finished, and even with big hot tears streaming down her face, she continued to angrily shout, "Every day, I wished that you would finally get to spend one day! Just one day! With me, and it didn't even matter what we did because at least I would get to spend it with you! But then, you disappeared, and I thought you were dead! Do you know how hurt that made me feel?! Very! And then, we find you, and you try to repair the damage, but it's already been done, mom! I've been scarred for life! Not only by dad but by you! I'm this way thanks to you and him, and I don't even think I'll ever be a shell of who I used to be because of both of your negligence"!
No one dared to speak a word for a solid two minutes as Laguna angrily looked at her mom while Twilight slowly allowed her tears to fall, not daring to say anything that could upset Laguna even more. Then, Laguna broke into a hard sob as she dropped to her knees and kept repeating, "I'm so sorry, mom! I really am! I'm sorry,"! Twilight slowly nodded as she spoke in a teary-eyed voice, "Laguna...you don't need to apologize. If anyone here has to apologize, it's me. I was always so caught up in my work. I never got to focus on the most important treasure in my life: you. I'm an awful parent; I don't even deserve to call myself a mother for the gnarly way I treated you. You deserve so much better, Laguna, and I'm sorry that I was never the mother you wanted." Laguna then removed her glasses to wipe her tears away as she also spoke in a teary-eyed voice, "You may not be the world's most perfect mother, but...you are now trying. And while things may never be the same...at least you are attempting to try now. And that's all I've ever wanted...for you to try...and it's the best thing I can ask from you now. None of us are perfect mom, but, sometimes...trying is the best thing we can do...and maybe...that's enough." Twilight smiled as she tries to remove her tears while saying, "Yeah, kelpcake. Look, I can never forgive myself for how I treated you before, and I certainly won't be forgiving Marcus for his behavior, especially when he did that "thing" to you.
Kelpcake, let's both make a promise today in this therapy room. I promise that as long as my heart is still beating, and my hat still rests on my head, that I will do whatever I can to be a better mom to you. No matter what it may be, I will do whatever it takes. In return, promise me that you tell me what's on your mind if anything is ever bugging you. Whether it's something minor or major, talk to me. I want to help you, but only if you tell me if something is bothering you. Deal"? Laguna nodded as she and her mother hugged one another tightly while Prince D took note of this. Suddenly, while the hug went on, Aggie felt a vision coming as in her vision, Typhoon was approaching Laguna, who was backed up against a wall and holding a razor as he said menacingly, "Long time, no see "old friend." Once the vision ended, Aggie then placed her hand on her head as she asked, "May I be excused a minute? I...need to use the bathroom., Laguna, I will be right back." Aggie got up and quickly left the room, speed-walking to the receptionist desk in hopes that she could use the phone. To her luck, as she appeared, the receptionist spotted her, saying, 'Pardon me. Are you Miss Agatha"? Aggie blushed when the receptionist used her full name, but at the moment, she could care less as she said, "Yes, that's me." The receptionist gave her a phone as she said, "Someone is calling you on the phone." Aggie accepted it and said, "Hello? This is Aggie speaking."
On the other side was Buckaroo as she shouted, "Aggie! We've got a problem on our hooves! Y'all remember that rascal Typhoon?! Well, he done busted out of prison and escaped! Where are you"?! Aggie looked at the receptionist as she motioned to have the call privately as the receptionist led her to an empty room, allowing Aggie to talk privately. Aggie then said, into the phone, "Buckaroo, I think I have a good idea where he could be heading! Get over to Vibe City as fast as you can"! On the other side, Buckaroo responded, "You can count on it, partner," as Buckaroo hanged up the phone and galloped as fast as she could over to where the spaceship for Vibe City was. Meanwhile, Aggie exited the room and gave the phone back to the receptionist before heading back to Laguna. Entering the room, she came across her telling Prince D about her experiences with the two panic attacks she's had so far. Laguna was explaining, "And I feel my body tighten, and sometimes, I struggle to breathe properly. The last one I had, I was lucky that McJagger and Melody were there with an oxygen mask, or else I don't think I would've survived." Prince D wrote this down as he then said, "Well, judging from how bad the experience you mentioned was, the stress and anxiety towards it are enough to give any troll a panic attack. Here are some things that you can do if you feel a panic attack coming.
If you feel a panic attack coming and in an active environment like Vibe City, close your eyes so you don't feel overwhelmed. Then, practice slow, deep breaths, even if they start shaky. Just focus on your breathing. You can also focus on a single object or troll to help you try and not have your mind racing, and use muscle relaxing techniques such as wiggling your fingers and fins, Repeat a quote that makes you feel calm and relaxed, and imagine a place that makes you happy and content. I got one more thing that just might help." Prince D then pulled out a light blue journal that had a green pen and gave it to Laguna, saying, "It helps to write what you're feeling down so that way, you don't always have to hold it in and release it in pent up outbursts. Plus, it can help you reduce the amount of stress you're feeling inside. Think of it as your special writing journal, and you don't have to share it with anyone if you don't want to." Laguna smiled as she said, "Gee, thanks, Prince D." Prince D chuckled as he replied, "In this coat, you may call me Dr. D. Now, I think we covered a lot today in our session. We definitely have a starting point in your recovery, Laguna, but it will take some time before you start to feel its effects. Until your next session, practice those techniques to help you the next time you feel a panic attack coming on. I think this is the starting of a long but steady road to recovery, Laguna, and just know that even if you don't have an appointment, if you ever need to talk, just say the word. So, how does next week sound for you"?
Laguna nodded, replying, "It's alright for me. Mom, is that ok for you"? Twilight nodded, tipped her fedora as she said, "Prince D, you truly are a great therapist. Thank you so much for taking time from your day to help my daughter." Prince D nodded and replied, "It's cool, Ms. T. Anything to help a friend out. So, I'll see you next week or the next time you come to visit Vibe City or the next time I see you, Laguna." The Techno troll smiled as she, her mom, and Aggie got up and left the room. Twilight went to schedule the next appointment as Laguna and Aggie waited outside and was greeted by McJagger, who came up to them, saying, "Hey, ladies. How's it hanging? How did the therapy session go"? As Laguna walked up to McJagger and kissed him on the lips, Aggie commented, "Well, it certainly was eventful, but I think Laguna's starting to find some self-closure and is recovering a little. Right, Laguna"? Laguna nodded, saying, "I actually felt like I could open up with my therapist, and I'm starting to allow myself to open up emotionally. I'm still not 100% set, but at least there is a starting point." Then, the trio heard what sounded like a cackle as Aggie asked, "What's that sound"? While Aggie turned her head to look around, McJagger then felt something poke his leg as he lifted it and found that he just got inserted with something as he commented, "Aw, nuts," before collapsing in Laguna's arms. Laguna caught him as she shouted, "McJagger! What happened to you"?! Aggie pulled out the small syringe as she said, "Looks like someone shot this, and it inserted some form of a sleeping serum."
Then, a familiar voice spoke up, saying, "About time you noticed." Both girls turned their heads and saw that coming towards them with what looked like some form of a laser gun and a razor in his hands was a familiar foe...for both of them. Aggie glared at him as Laguna froze in fear, saying, "Typhoon"! He grinned evilly while saying, "Hello, cotton candy...Laguna." Aggie prepared to act defensively as she said, "What are you doing out of prison"?! He replied, "Oh, let's just say that...it was explosive. But enough about me. I still have to have a little chat with the old book eel from school, and I owe you payback for covering me in squid ink and getting me arrested"! Aggie then placed her fists up, saying, "You won't get to Laguna under my watch"! Typhoon then pulled out what looked like a big bag and dumped out an unconscious Buckaroo, who also fell to the serum McJagger was administered, as Typhoon maliciously said, "Really? Because one shot...and you'll fall as these two did." Laguna was deeply terrified, unable to move or respond. Aggie looked behind her and told Laguna, "Laguna, no matter what, run and don't stop running. Don't look back and don't come back for me." Laguna nodded, but before she could start running, Typhoon fired a shot at her as Aggie jumped and took the hit before Laguna could get struck. Aggie could feel the serum take effect as she grimaced, trying to stay awake. The last thing she saw before passing out was Typhoon inching towards Laguna, making her back up against a wall as he pointed the razor at her, saying maliciously, "Long time, "old friend." Aggie grimaced and whispered, "No, my...," but ended up falling asleep as well.
Laguna felt her heart racing and her breathing accelerate as Typhoon said, "I've been waiting a long time for this. Too bad we couldn't do this at night while you were asleep because you'd be much more obedient unconscious. I see you cut your hair, though it doesn't change the fact that no one likes you. Never had and never will, and you know why? Because no one ever wants to hang out with an ugly book eel like you. And I'm about to make sure that comes true. Turn around." Even after Typhoon angrily shouted, Laguna remained frozen in place, "Turn around now, nerdy fish"! Then, something inside Laguna came alive as she said with utmost determination and all the confidence she could muster, "NO"! Typhoon did not seem fazed as he replied, "You don't have a choice! Turn around, or so help me! I will make you turn around and snap your spine while I'm at it"! Laguna's expression did not change as she said, "I'm! Not! Moving"! Typhoon growled as he said, "Who cares?! You'll be bald and ugly either way," as he tried to strike with the turned-on razor. Suddenly, Laguna ducked and somersaulted out of the way in time, much to Typhoon's shock, who ended up shaving a long line of paint off the wall. Seeing her in from of him, he got angry and tried to charge at her, but Laguna quickly jumped out of the way, making him crash to the ground. Before he could get up, Laguna picked up some nearby rope, quickly knocked the razor out of his hand, and tied him up, making him unable to escape his restraints.
Laguna picked up the razor, which was still running, as she looked at Typhoon, who smugly replied, "Do it. Do to me what I would've done to you." Laguna looked at it before turning it off and removing its batteries, putting it and the batteries in the trash. Typhoon chuckled as he evilly replied, "Of course you wouldn't, you weak, defenseless snail-of-a-troll"! Laguna took a deep breath as she turned and looked down at him, saying, "I'm not weak, because unlike you, I know to take the high road and do the right thing. So go ahead, call me whatever you want, because you know what? I don't care! You could push me, shove me, do whatever you wanted to physically or mentally hurt me for your pleasure. But it doesn't matter because you're nothing full of carp! There are trolls out there who do like me for who I am and what I do. There are trolls out there who like me because I am beautiful just the way I am. You and your followers could band together, and even then, it wouldn't be enough because I'm a lot stronger than before. So, all I have to say to you is, who's the weak one now, Typhoon"? She slowly started to walk away from him as he shouted, "This isn't over! I'm not going to stop until you are utterly worthless and nothing more than garbage! You hear me"?! However, Laguna ignored him and tended to Buckaroo, who was starting to wake up from the serum, as she muttered while getting up, "Wha? What in tarnashun happened here"?
Laguna pointed to the now tied up and fuming Typhoon as she answered, "I took care of a previous pest." Buckaroo was happily surprised as she said, "Well, call me a troll's uncle! Excellent work, Laguna. Hold up! Where's Aggie and McJagger"? Laguna pointed to the ground where the two were still unconscious from the serum. Buckaroo picked Aggie up, saying, "Poor gerl must've sacrificed herself for ya safety. That serum's gonna leave em knocked out faw hours." Twilight soon came out and saw the scene that had just occurred as she ran to Laguna, shouting, "Laguna! Are you ok, kelpcake"?! Laguna hugged her mother as she said, "I'm okay, mom. An old bully tried to harass me, but I didn't let him this time." Twilight smiled and gently tousled Laguna's hair while saying, "That's my little whippersnapper." Twilight then saw McJagger and Aggie on the floor as she asked, "What about them? Are your buddies ok"? Buckaroo tipped her hat while saying with a bucket of a purple liquid in her hands, "No worries, ma'am. They should wake up right about now." she dumped some of the liquid on McJagger, which made him shot up instantly, shouting, "Don't hurt Laguna"! He looked around and saw that Laguna was alright as he got up, shook the liquid off before saying, "Groovy that you're ok, Laguna. You are alright, yes,"? Laguna nodded and chuckled as Buckaroo dumped the liquid on Aggie, who shot up and said, "I'm coming, Laguna," and ended up flying into the wall as everyone winced in shock, with Twilight commenting, "That's gonna really a real ripper of a bruise in the morning." Aggie held her head in pain as she asked, "What happened? Is Laguna ok," before noticing that Laguna was perfectly fine and a still fuming Typhoon was tied up.
She smiled and said, "Laguna! You're safe! You're not hurt, are you"?! Laguna chuckled as she said, "I should be asking you that, Aggie. Is your head alright"? Aggie nodded and slightly winced in pain, saying, "It's throbbing a little, but I'm alright. Did you manhandle Typhoon on your own"? Laguna wore a proud, prominent smile, which signified a big yes as Buckaroo picked up the tied-up Typhoon, saying, "Now, let's make sure this rascal doesn't cause any more trouble faw us." She let out a loud whistle, which signaled the jail carriage to appear again. Buckaroo tossed him inside and locked it up as he was carried away, Typhoon shouting, "None of this is over! I'll make sure of it"! As everyone watched the jail carriage disappear, Queen Essence with Prince D appeared as the queen of funk asked, "Is everything ok over here? We heard shouts of conflict and wanted to make sure everyone was ok." Seeing Aggie with a developing bruise on her forehead and still dripping in the liquid Buckaroo threw on her was enough to make Essence run to her, saying, "Oh my! what happened to you, Aggie?! Are you ok? That bruise needs ice! And you're soaked"! Aggie blushed in embarrassment as she said, "I'm alright, Essence. I accidentally flew into a wall when I awoke from the serum that someone used to knock me, Buckaroo, and McJagger out. But Buckaroo made a solution that helped woke us up, hence why I am drenched."
Prince D then came up to Laguna as he asked, "Are you feeling ok, Laguna"? The Techno Troll nodded, saying, "I'm alright, Prince D. Just had to handle a small nuisance, but I am doing well." McJagger hugged Laguna and lifted her as they circled, the funk troll saying, "Oh, my sweet melody. I'm so happy you're safe, and that nasty troll didn't hurt you or-," before Laguna interrupted him by kissing him, making everyone around then awe at how cute it was. Prince D then said, "So much love is being spread around right now. I need some of that love myself." He then pulled out a stereo and clicked play, beginning to play some funk music as he and everyone else began to dance along with him. As they did, a crowd f funk trolls watched and also got into the groove.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~It's All Love by Anderson ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Prince D: Oh, oh, oh, oh. Started off a team. Ballin' till we get the ring. We wanna compete, but it's the weekend. We should link and party till I need some ice on my knees. Chillin' with my niece, cousins, aunties. Come on, everybody. What you bringin' to the potluck? I'm excited. Everybody got a spot, love. You're invited. Hate is just lost love, so they hidin'. Never know, try it, you might like it.
Prince D, Queen Essence, McJagger: At first, it was all love. Hands up, superstar love. That you can have it, you can have it all love. But then you took it all. You took it all, love, all love. Turn it up louder, sing along, get the crowd up. But then, you took it all, love. Then forgot all about us (Prince D: Oh, but it's all love!), but it's all love.
Aggie: Congratulations! you finally turned from the wrong station. Thank you for y'all's patience. I'll try not to make this a long statement. Essence says I shouldn't swear, so I'll just put this on Dayton's. Nobody's born hatin'. Nobody's born fake. Why we fighting over something we can all make? That's stingy love. I'm just givin' love. Ain't givin' up. If you alive, only thing to do is live it up!
I know you like that (Buckaroo and Twilight: Like that). I know you really, really, like that (Buckaroo and Aggie: Like that). I know you not gon' do me like that.
Aggie, Buckaroo, Twilight: Give it to you. Bring it right, ba-ack!
Prince D, Queen Essence, McJagger: At first, it was all love (McJagger: At first, it was all love!). Hands up, superstar love (Prince D: Get the stars up!). That you can have it, you can have it all love (Prince D: And you can get it how you want!). But then you took it all. You took it all, love, all love (McJagger: Took it all, love!). Turn it up louder (Prince D: turn the music up, come on!) (Queen Essence: Turn it up louder!), sing along, get the crowd up (Prince D: Get the crowd up, come on!). But then, you took it all, love (Prince D: Took it all, love, come on!). Then forgot all about us (Prince D: Oh, but it's all love!), but it's all love.
Prince D, Queen Essence, McJagger, Aggie: I feel you. Sounds good in my ear when I hear it like that. I feel you. I say I look good to the mirror, and it says it right back. I feel you. a little love wouldn't kill you (Queen Essence: A little love wouldn't kill you.) You really did me wrong. It was real cruel (Prince D: It was real cruel!) (McJagger: Cruel, cruel, cruel!). Had a lot of love, and I still do 'cause I feel you.
As Laguna danced along with McJagger, Aggie then noticed something strange going on with Laguna. As she began to rap and sing, her heart changed from its original teal green color to purple, just like the funk trolls.
Laguna: What you bringin' to the potluck? You're invited! Let me get a lil' rice, put it on the side. With a lil' love on it (Prince D: I need some love, love, love, love, whoo!). What, you put a rub on it? I can't get enough! I ain't never had nothin' like this!
As the performance concluded, many funk trolls applauded for a stellar performance as the group bowed towards the audience. Then, Laguna looked down and saw that her heart was glowing the purple funk color before it changed back to teal green, much to her surprise. However, she didn't think about it too much because the next thing she knew, Aggie's hug time watch went off, and she pulled all her friends and Queen Essence into a huge group hug. Afterward, Essence invited everyone over to her home to recoup and relax. While Prince D showed Buckaroo and Laguna around, Aggie and McJagger shared funny stories from previous experiences. Meanwhile, Twilight asked if she could speak with Essence alone for a minute. As the two mothers strolled through the halls, Twilight told her about Laguna's explosive outburst during therapy and how everything she told her was the truth, and that she truly was a bad mom. Essence felt Twilight's pain as she commented, "We always try our best to be great parents to our children. But sometimes, even we can be unable to prevent mistakes from happening, no matter what causes them. You aren't alone feeling this way, Twilight. When I first reunited with Cooper after we found him, a million things flooded through my brain, especially that I should have protected his egg a lot better. And while he seems to be happy that he's reunited with us, sometimes, I feel like it's hard to connect with him the way I would with Prince D since he was missing for so long. We are not perfect parents, but the best thing we can do for our children is to be the best parents we can, despite the circumstances, and show them that we truly care for them. Laguna's been through a lot, so hearing angry outbursts like that will be a part of your new "normal," especially when she feels like there are moments where you two can't seem to relate because of those years of disconnection.
Just try to show her that you are willing to put in the effort and demonstrate that you love her deeply." Twilight smiled as she said, "It's definitely not going to be an easy task, especially because my little whippersnapper ain't as little as she was before. she's older and now has her life planned out by the book." Essence responded, "Find small things to do with her that maybe refer to her favorite activities and now and then, sit with her to chat about how her life is going, see how she's feeling. Through small things like that, you will slowly begin to build a bond with her, and while it may not be as tight as you desire it to be, it might be enough to forge a mutual friendship between the two." Twilight chuckled as she asked, "Do you get this stuff from your son because Prince D is as wise as you are, your majesty." Essence smiled as she said, "Well, I passed some of my wisdom to him, and he's been learning pretty fast. One day, I know he will be a wise king for all the funk trolls. But for now, he's doing great as a prince, a therapist, and a friend to everyone." As both mothers watched the group of friends chat with one another and laugh together, Twilight commented while tipping her fedora, "And I know with his helpful and caring nature, I think he's going to play an essential part in Laguna's self-recovery." Seeing her daughter have a huge, genuine smile made Twilight feel a little more confident, knowing that with time, therapy would help Laguna be able to express her true happy nature fully and, at the same time, even help her begin her journey as a better mother. This would definitely be anything but easy, but for now, she was happy to start from square one and help her daughter grow and become the fun, caring troll she knows Laguna can be.
