Plates shattering on the ground from the kitchen downstairs jolted me out of my sleep. "Sorry!" I hear Link say downstairs.
"What happened." I mumbled still more asleep than awake even though my heart was racing.
"Just dropped some things." He says and I hear him collecting the broken shards from the ground. I stretched my arms and legs before getting out of bed and heading downstairs. "Stay upstairs, I don't want you to cut yourself." He says. I stop before reaching the last step and watch as he kneels down collecting all the shards of the ground. I stare at him realizing his shirt was missing. I felt myself getting flustered observing how his muscles moved as he reached around for the shards. The way his long hair flowed down to his shoulders. I couldn't stop myself from staring at him until he got up and my eyes made their way down from his arms to his chest and abs. I felt my face getting warmer the longer I stared at him. He was too occupied with cleaning up the mess to notice my hypnotized state. His face was focused on his task as his eyes darted around looking for any tiny piece of shard. "You ok?" He asks looking over at me. I snap myself out of my staring.
"Yeah.. I'm not really awake yet." I'm blessed the sun isn't out yet and that he's only using a lantern otherwise he'd see how absolutely flustered I was.
"Go back to sleep, I'm really sorry for waking you up."
"It's ok, do you need help?" I ask and grab a broom handle that was leaning against the stairs railing. I sweep the ground as I make my way over only sweeping in front of me to not step on anything.
"Thanks. I can take it from here, you can keep watching from the stairs if you like." He grins and I feel myself turn completely red.
"I-Im sorry.." I say flustered wishing I could dig a hole beneath me and hide in it.
"Don't be, I'm flattered." He chuckles. I laugh softly and make my way up the stairs and back to the bed, laying face first into the pillow to hide my shame.
How embarrassing, I'm so utterly humiliated at my actions, just staring at him like some brain dead zombie. I sigh into the pillow trying to forget my earlier actions until I fell asleep.
The sun was out and the birds were chirping when I woke up again to the smell of food cooking. I got out of bed and made my way down the stairs to see Link cooking up breakfast.
"Good morning." He turns and smiles. "How'd you sleep?"
"I slept great, and you?"
"I slept pretty good." He says and turns handing me a plate of sunny-side up eggs, bacon and some toast. "Eat up." He smiles.
"Th-thanks.." I take the plate and sit down to eat. He sits down shortly afterwards and begins eating his food as well. His cooking is divine, for someone who's only started cooking recently he really knows how to make his food taste extraordinary.
"Do you know what you wanna do in town yet?" He asks.
"Not really." I take a bite out of my food before speaking again. "Why?"
"It's a nice day for the beach." He says. "We could hang out down there for a while, living in Akkala all your life I'm sure you've never been to a warm beach before."
"I have not, but I would love to." I take another bite. "How far is it from here?"
"It's a bit of a walk but we can take the horses."
"Ok, sounds like a plan then." We finish up our food and clean up the kitchen before getting ready for our short hike. I packed an extra change of clothes and some snacks for myself and Eva. Link let me borrow one of his old friends one piece bathing suit so I changed into it and got dressed over it. Once we were both ready we got our small bags and got the horses ready to leave. While we walked through the town Link told me where everything was. The dye store which I thought was super cool. The clothing store, general store, the Inn, the mayors house and even a school the princess was helping build for the village. The entire village was so amazing and bustling with activity unlike anywhere at home. It was so amazing to see a real community like this.
We finally rolled up to the beach with our horses and hopped off to get them tied nearby. The two of us then head down closer to the water. As we did so I slid my shoes off and walked along the warm white sand. It was such a much different experience than the cold wet sand back in Akkala. The air was warm even as the wind blew against us. "This looks like a nice place to settle." Link says before rolling out a large blanket he brought on the ground. Once the blanket was down we placed our bags on it and sat down looking off into the ocean. "What do you think?"
"Of the beach?" He nods. "It's nice. Warmer than back home, and sunnier." I say running my hand through the sand beside me.
"Worth the hike?"
"Definitely." I smile looking off at the ocean, listening to the waves crashing along the shore.
"I'm glad we ran into each other again." Link said and I felt my stomach flutter.
"Me too." I smile.
"I run into people all the time needing help, experienced travelers. So when you said you didn't know what you were doing I worried a bit if you'd be ok." I could see him turn his head to face me from my peripheral.
"I really appreciate you helping me. I don't wanna think of what would've happened if you hadn't come along."
"No need to thank me. I really just like helping people." He looks back out at the ocean. We watch the waves for a while before he decides to speak again. "Have you thought about where you're gonna go next?"
"Maybe Rito Village. It's far but seems like the easiest trip." I say.
"You think you're ready for that trip?" I shrug.
"I think so." I say. "Why? Do you have any other lessons planned?" He chuckles.
"No, but you've only had about 2 days worth of actual traveling. So it's a bit worrisome." He sighs. "I wouldn't feel right letting you go alone. So I'll come along to make sure you stay safe." I look over at him and laugh.
"You're gonna tag along?" I ask.
"More like escort you." He smiles. "I have some business in Rito Village too so it works out."
"What business?"
"I was gathering some data for a friend."
"Ah yes, data." We laugh. "When should we leave then?" I ask him.
"Whenever you want. You say the word and we'll be on the road."
"Ok, let's go in two days."
"Two days it is."
