Safe travels
I was woken up by the sun light shining on my face. I turned my face into the pillow and sighed before getting up. Link wasn't in the bed so I looked over the upstairs railing and saw him eating some food while reading a book. He didn't notice me until I started making my way down the stairs. He looked up from the book, "Goodmorning," he smiled while setting the book down.
"Mornin." I rubbed my eyes and sat down across from him. I had my feet up on the seat and my knees against the table. I felt like I didn't sleep last night.
"You hungry?" I nodded. He got up and walked to the kitchen. My eyelids felt heavy so I wasn't too sure what he was doing until he set a plate down in front of me. It was an omelette, a very good looking omelette. I thanked him and slid my feet off the chair so I could eat. While eating we chatted about random things. During our conversation we were interrupted by loud knocking on Links door. I choked a bit on my food by how sudden and loud the knocks were. Link got up and cautiously opened the door. We both relaxed when we saw Reede standing outside the house.
"Good morning Link!" He looked inside and locked eyes with me for a second and waved. "Mind if we talk outside?" Link looked back at me as well as Reede.
"Sure." Link walked out and closed the door. I shrugged and continued eating. I'm sure it's nothing too bad, Link has been in the town much longer than me so I understand why they'd want to talk alone.
I finished the omelette and washed the dish in the sink. While Link was talking outside I decided to clean up around the house. I washed all his dishes, made the bed and dusted a bit. I was sitting down in front of his bookshelf organizing his books when the front door opened downstairs. I peeked my head down the stairs and saw him walking inside. He looked a bit down, almost as if some bad news were told to him. "You ok?" I asked. He looked up and nodded.
"Yeah, I'm fine. What are you up to anyways?"
"Cleaning." I got up. "What were you guys talking about anyways?" I could tell whatever it was really got to him.
"It's nothing really, nothing you need go worry yourself with." He smiled at me. "Why don't we travel somewhere? Far from here for a bit?" I was getting suspicious.
"What happened?" I frowned.
"I don't want you to worry, I just want you safe and right now, here isn't the best place for you."
"Well you could've just said that instead of scaring me. Where are we going?"
"Anywhere."
Link and I began packing our bags with clothes and food for our trip. I really wanted to get out again after everything that's happened although the circumstances weren't what I wouldn't wanted. We changed our clothes and headed outside to saddle up the horses and get going. Epona and Eva both seemed moody, they weren't as calm as usual which made it difficult for us to get their reigns and saddles on. But once we did we were off.
It took a while to finally get to Hateno Fort. We trotted the horses along the trail and continued on. "Where do you want to go?" Link asked as we trotted over a wooden bridge. For once I wasn't sure.
"You decide. I don't really know."
"Alright. Let's get going." We headed off in the direction of Akkala. I was pretty confused on why we were going this way. "Where we're going the horses can't come so we'll have to board them at the stable."
"Ok." I said. I was a bit nervous, I've never been anywhere without Eva. I wanted us both to be together always, for her to travel with me and see all the sights with me. I don't know how she would feel if I just left her somewhere she's never been before. I'm sure Epona would make her feel safe though. They got along well.
Once we arrived at the stable we dismounted our horses and Link had them boarded. Two of the workers came and took the girls off to the stalls. I'm pretty sure I was more worried than she is. "Do you want to stop to eat something?" Link asked. I shook my head slightly.
"No, do you?" We had begun walking off on the trail.
"Nah. It's a pretty long walk and I'd prefer it if we got there before the sun sets."
"Where are we going anyways?"
"Zoras domain." He smiled at me. "You'll like it." I'm sure I will.
We walked for about 20 minutes until we reached a sign in the road. Up the hill was Akkala and straight ahead was Zoras Domain. So we walked straight ahead. There were some large boulders that Link helped me get over. Once we got over we headed on the trail.
I didn't expect the path to Zoras Domain to be so long. There were rocks we had to climb over, rivers, some rock tunnels as well as long walks uphill. The sun had already begun to set and I didn't think we would get there before the sun set. There were beautiful lights along the path that I'm sure also helped for leading the way at night.
We were turning a corner when up ahead I saw a gorgeous bridge. There was some when we first began the trail but they weren't this big. It looked like it was made of glass. The blue colorlooked gorgeous as the sun set. "Does this mean we're close?" I asked.
"About 10 minutes away." He looked at the bridge.
"You've been saying that for the past two hours." I was so tired from all the walking and climbing.
"This time I'm serious." He looked at me. I stared at him with a blank face, he knew I didn't believe him. "I swear," we began crossing the bridge, "see!" He pointed to the left. I saw what looked like a giant fish statue. It's made out of the same materials as the bridge. It was lit up with lights which made the whole village look like it was sparkling.
"That's Zoras Domain?"
"Yeah, just 10 minutes away." I was stunned at how beautiful it looked from far away, I couldn't wait to actually get there.
"Good, my feet are killing me."
"Good news is that on the way back it's mostly downhill." I scoffed and smiled at him. "I love you." He said. I hugged his arm as we walked and leaned my head on his shoulder.
"I love you too."
Once we finished crossing the bridge there was another few hills we had to walk up. It was now night and we still weren't there. 10 minutes my ass. Suddenly it was a zig-zag trail that was straight downhill. I followed the trails with my eyes and saw another long blue bridge.
"We're almost there." He said. I sighed in relief. "The place is probably like no other town you've ever seen." He said.
"How?"
"There are no closed rooms. The stores, the inn, the throne room, there are no walls. They sleep in the water. Cause you know, they're fish people." He said. I nodded slightly. No closed rooms? I wonder why. Once we made it down the hill we crossed the bridge. That itself took a good 5 minutes until we were at the entrance. The whole place was held up by beautiful blue collums. I was in awe at how beautiful the whole place was. At the entrance stood two Zoras holding spears. They didn't look at us or even blink. They were much taller than I had expected. We continued walking forward and I noticed a crystal blue statue of a Zora. She was holding a trident that was piercing something. My thoughts where interrupted by an unfamiliar voice.
"LINK!!" It was a males voice. I looked around and didn't see anyone. Until a large red creature landed in front of Link and I. I felt the ground shake as I cowered behind Link. I looked over him and saw an enormous Zora. He was about 3 times my size and walking straight at us.
"Sidon!" Link walked over to him leaving me helpless.
"You came back to visit." The Zora named Sidon said with a smile. I could see his razor sharp teeth, I gulped. He looked away from Link and locked eyes with me. His smile widened and I could feel my heart beating faster. "Hello miss, Who might you be?" He walked over to me and looked straight down into my eyes. I wasn't sure if he was trying to be nice or rude but nevertheless I was terrified.
"I-m Im" I couldn't find the words to answer his question.
"This is (Y/n). My girlfriend." Link introduced me.
"Girlfriend?! I never expected you to be with anyone Link. But you," He looked at me, "you're a lucky girl to call the Hero of Hy-"
"Ah yes." Link cut him off, I frowned. What was he trying to hide from me? "Anyways, (Y/n) this is Prince Sidon. And I'm sorry to run off like this but we are just exhausted."
"Oh of course, the path up here is rigorous. Please sleep well tonight and may we continue on tomorrow." We smiled and I followed Link to the inn. Link talked fo the Zora at the register to get us a bed. I sat down by the kitchen thinking about what Link was trying to keep from me. He sat down down next to me and I stared into his eyes.
"Why didn't you let him finish his sentence? He is the Prince after all."
"It's nothing important really."
"So why didn't you let him finish his sentence?" I was a bit irritated. "Hero of what? Because when that Yiga spy that tried to kill me, he asked why was I hanging around with "The Hero." So what was he trying to say?" I stared at him until he sighed.
"Let's talk about this somewhere else." He got up and held his hand out to help me up. I got up on my own and walked out the arch of the building. I was now a bit mad. Why would he keep secrets from me? I told him pretty much everything about me.
We walked across a bridge and up a hill to a small lake. He stopped walking and ran a hand through his hair. He walked over to me and held my hands. "I didn't want to tell you anything because I was scared you'd leave. And honestly I don't think I could handle you leaving." He sighed again and took a moment to think. "I'm the Hylian Champion that defeated Ganon." I gave him a confused look.
"What?"
"I killed Ganon and saved Hyrule. Me, I was princess Zelda's appointed Knight before it all happened." We stayed in silence for what felt like hours. I was trying to process everything he just said. I also wanted to know why he didn't want to tell me that, I would never leave him.
"You? You killed Ganon and-" I was shocked. I didn't really believe it. But he's never lied to me in the past, plus other people know who he is. I knew the Hero was a humble guy but damn, hiding the fact he saved the world?! "Why didn't you tell me?!" I asked.
"Because anyone I've gotten close to dies. Expect Zelda, she's somewhere fixing up Hyrule. Plus a bunch of people want me dead, and that probably means they're after you too." I didn't care about that though, I had gotten good at defending myself.
"Wait you know the Princess."
"We're on pretty bad terms right now. But yeah." I laughed. "So you're not mad?" I shook my head.
"No! Why would I be? You saved the world!" He smiled. "Maybe just a little. You should've told me earlier though."
"You're right and I'm really sorry. I just. I really love you and there was something I felt from the moment we met and I-" I cut him off with a kiss. I gently caressed his face and he pulled my waist towards his.
"Shut up Hero." I giggled and kissed him again. He chuckled.
"Alright. Let's get back and sleep." I hadn't realized how tired I was until he said that.
We headed off back like to the inn and to our bed. Once we got into bed we fell asleep immediately.
