Rescue Mission
Throughout the week we finished planning for the mission and now I was helping the knights pack the supplies. We packed boxes of food and medical supplies as well as supplies for a fire and sleeping tents.
I placed the box I was carrying in the carriage and sighed. I couldn't help but feel uneasy about Link leaving. I had a gut feeling something would go wrong, I was scared for him. I was scared for all of them. More knights came down from the castle and placed the boxes in the carriages. I walked back to the castle with the same feeling. My thoughts had consumed my mind so much I ended up bumping into Link making him almost drop the box.
"Woah! Hey you ok?" He asked.
"Not really. Can we talk?" I softly said.
"Yeah, let me put this away and we can chat." He smiled. I followed him down to the carriage to drop the box off then we went back inside to the castle. "What's on your mind?" He pulled me into an empty storage room and closed the door. There was one large table and a bunch of empty boxes scattered around the room.
"I have a bad feeling about you leaving."
"Baby I'll be fine." He chuckled.
"I'm serious Link, promise me you'll be careful. I don't wanna lose you."
"You won't." He gently placed a hand on my cheek. "I'll be back." He smiled. "I promise, I'll bring your mother and your brother home." He kissed my cheek.
"You better, or I'll die or something." He chuckled.
"I will, let's get back before they think we're doing something we shouldn't be." He smirked and opened the door. I was still uneasy about everything.
The next day they were off. We said our dreaded goodbyes and from then on all I could do was pray that Link was ok. So did, I prayed almost every hour that he was ok and that everyone else was ok. I just wanted everyone to be safe.
Links POV
The night we left we picked up (M/n) and camped out in the forest. I was helping (M/n) set up her tent to sleep in for the night. "Thanks again Link, for everything you're doing."
"It's my pleasure, plus we're family.. well going to be family, and I look out for family." I smiled and I dug the wooden stake into the ground to prevent the tent from flying off.
"I'm sure (Y/n) isn't too happy about it."
"She isn't. At all." I chuckled. "But I feel responsible for this and I wanna make it right."
"It's not your fault Link." She comforted me. "Some people are just bad."
"Yeah. Anyways get some rest, we're gonna leave pretty early tomorrow."
"Alright!" She smiled. "Sleep well." I smiled and walked off. I maneuvered around all the tents that were set up until I reached mine. I got in and zipped it up behind me. I sighed as I lied down.
I could hear some of the other men talking and whispering to each other in their tents. I closed my eyes and tried to sleep, it was working. I was slowly falling asleep, until I was interrupted by the ground rumbling.
(Y/n)'s POV
Almost 2 weeks had gone by and we hadn't heard anything about the knights that had left. Not a letter or someone from there nothing. They were supposed to have been back a few days ago. I was so worried about everyone. My mom, my brother, Link... why was all of this even happening?? Why did my mother and brother have to get involved?
I had asked Zelda multiple times to let me go with another knight and search for them but all the knights were too scared to go, and Zelda didn't want me leaving the castle. I was desperate to know what happened. Were they alive? Dead? Somewhere in the middle? Were they being tortured?! Were they lost? So many possibilities and I had no idea which one was right. All I want is to know what happened.
I only knew one person who was brave enough to go with me, but I doubt he would leave with me.
That day I snuck my way into the dungeon to have a talk with Zuel. He's just the person I need, smart, strong, courageous. There were a few more people in the dungeon other than Manny now. Speaking of, Manny was now upgraded to a cell. I looked into it and saw him curled up and trembling. There were a few other people in cells and they just stared at me as I walked around looking for Zuel. The place was so dark and damp. It was sad and scary all at once. Almost no light came in so the deeper I went in the darker it got. I was feeling a bit creeped out.
"(Y/n)!" Zuels deep voice boomed throughout the stone walls. I jumped a bit and felt my heart skip a beat. I turned around wide eyed. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you. What are you doing down here?"
"I need your help. Ever since the guards left we haven't heard anything about, everyone is too scared to go look for them, and Zelda won't let me leave."
"So why do you need me?" He picked up a whip from the ground and wrapped it around his muscular arm.
"Come with me, or at least give me weapons so I can go on my own."
"No! You're insane!" He started walking off.
"Please!" I followed him. "Please I know you're capable of getting me at least a bow! Zelda won't let me into the armory and I just know something bad happened! I need to go."
"(Y/n) you can't do anything to get them back. It's you against what? 100 trained swordsmen and archers?" He stood still.
"I've had training! Ever since I met Link he's trained me in combat." Some of the men in the cells started getting worked up.
"Help the pretty lady out!" A raspy voice said from a dark cell. Zuel whipped the cell bars as a warning to the man. I flinched at the loud sound.
"Zuel please! I won't tell them you gave me the weapons... just please help me out." I looked up at him. "Link has always been there for me whenever I'm in trouble... I can't just sit back and do nothing." His face softened as he sighed.
"I'll get you a sword, shield and a bow and arrows. I'll even include a stealth suit as a bonus. But you better come back safe or I'm gonna end up like these creeps in the cells."
"Thank you! Thank you so much."
"When do you plan on leaving?"
"Tonight." I said.
"Your making things hard for me (Y/n)... meet me in the stables tonight." I smiled.
"Thank you." I gave him a tight hug.
After that I went back to my room and packed some stuff into my bag. I filled my canteen and grabbed some food from the kitchen. When I finished I snuck outside to the stables and waited for Zuel. I sat outside of Eva's stall and hugged my bag. Soon the stables were only lit up by the moonlight that seeped in through the small widows in the stalls.
"(Y/n)!" Zuel whispered.
"Over here!" I got up. He walked over to me and handed me everything he said he would. "Thanks." I started putting everything in.
"Please be careful." He handed me the stealth suit, I put it in my bag and we walked over to Eva's stall. I grabbed her saddle and opened the door to put it on her.
"I will. Just try and cover for me. If Zelda even asks." I smiled and lead Eva out of her stall.
"You better come back." He said as I hopped onto Eva.
"I will."
"Alive." He stated.
"For sure." I smiled. He opened the stable doors for me. "Thanks again."
