Relaxing day
The next morning I was woken up by Link. I groaned not wanting to get up. "(Y/n) come on." I didn't know what time it was, all I knew is that it was still dark out and I should still be sleeping. I sat up and stretched. "Let's get going." I was still adjusting to the light in the stable as I put my boots on. I grabbed my bag and headed out to where our horses were. I untied Eva and got onto her saddle.
I wasn't sure why he was in such a rush to get out of there, I just knew that I wasn't fully awake as we rode our horses down the trail. I was also pretty hungry, I had puked up my food last night and haven't eaten since yesterday afternoon. My stomach growled every few minutes. I grabbed some fruit from by bag and ate it. While I ate the apple we reached the fort. It was falling apart but still great to look at. There were guardians all around it, it looked as if they were frozen in time. Some died running towards the fort, while others died climbing the walls. It was eerie but fascinating to look at. As we passed through the gate and trotted along the trail I noticed there was a wooden lodge that looked to be a good shape. One of the first structures that wasn't in complete ruins.
We continued on the trail up a mountain. I wasn't sure why we woke up so early, the sun had just begun rising. "You doing ok?" Link asked.
"Yup." I rubbed my eyes trying to keep myself awake. Every now and then my eyes would close and I'd dose off for a few seconds but would wake myself up.
After going over hills and through puddles we finally reached the entrance to the town. It was a cute little place. I could see kids were running around having fun. Women washed their clothes and men stood outside of stores greeting people as they walked by. We walked up a hill to some modern looking houses and crossed a bridge. There was a single house isolated from everything else. I followed him to some little stalls next to the house, we got off our horses again and tied them to the wooden fence. There was an apple tree and a little pond behind his house along with flowers, bushes and rocks decorating the exterior of the house.
"You live here?" I asked. It was a cute little house.
"Yeah. It's not much, but it's cozy." We walked to the entrance and he opened the door for me. I thanked him and walked in. I saw a dining table with only two chairs. Around the walls were weapon mounts with shields, swords and bows. There was a small kitchen to the left with some recipe books and pots on the counters. "You can sleep upstairs." He said.
"No I'm fine." I yawned.
"You were falling asleep on the way here. Go ahead." He pointed to the stairs. "I'll take a quick nap too."
"Thanks." I said. I walked up the stairs and saw a desk with a notebook on it. I looked to the right and saw a bookshelf with some pictures and books. I noticed he had a single bed. "Where will you sleep?" I asked.
"Down here." I looked down and saw he was grabbing some blankets and pillows to sleep on the floor.
"No, I'll sleep on the floor. You take the bed."
"Nonsense! What kind of man would I be if I let a lady sleep on the floor." I giggled. "Sleep well." He looked up at me with that cute smile of his. I smiled and walked over to the bed again. I set by bag down next to it and lied down falling asleep almost immediately.
A few hours later I was woken up by the sound of people talking outside. I sat up from the bed and yawned before getting up. I made my way down the stairs and opened the front door. I looked around and saw Link talking to a few guys. "Oh hey, you're awake." He walked over to me.
"Yeah." I mumbled. The sunlight was too bright for me.
"Why don't you go inside and I'll make you something to eat."
"No. After all you've done, I'll make us some food." He smiled.
"Alright. I'll be right in." I walked back into the kitchen and looked around to see what I could make. I saw some meat and veggies, that can be used to make a meat and veggie stew! It's something I always loved eating, my mother would make it when I was upset or just because she knew I loved it. I was beginning to miss her.
I hummed to myself as I chopped some vegetables and poured them into the pot I had filled with water. I added a few spices and then poured the meat I had sliced up into chunks.
I stirred it for a while then let it cook for a while.
The front door opened and I turned around to see Link. He had an adorable smile as he walked over to me. He looked over my shoulder then into my eyes. I felt weirdly calm as he looked into my eyes. As if I was in a trance, I was lost in his sky blue eyes and I didn't want to be found. His face was inches from mine, I could feel myself blushing madly. "Smells good." He pulled away from me. "What is it?"
"Meat and veggie stew." I stirred the pot.
"Can't wait to eat some." He walked over to the table and sat down. I grabbed a ladle to pour some stew into a bowl. I set it down in front of him and poured myself some into a bowl. Once I sat down we began eating. It wasn't as good as my mother's but it was similar.
"Damn." Link mumbled. I looked up at him. Did he not like it? I started feeling awful thinking it wasn't good. "This is really good." I was instantly relieved.
"I'm glad you like it."
"How'd you learn to cook?" He asked.
"When people stopped by at the stable they'd tell us some of their favorite recipes. I learned the ones I liked and served them to travelers who were just stopping by."
"Well it's great. You're an amazing cook." He gave me a warm smile.
"Thank you." Once we finished I went to grab the plates to wash them off.
"Don't. I got it." Link got up and walked to the kitchen. I looked out the window and was surprised to see it was still very bright outside. I though I slept through the whole day. "Why don't I show you around? There's a beach not too far from here."
"Yeah. Sounds great." I got up and went for my bag.
"I'll bring some towels." He said.
I grabbed a cropped shirt and some shorts that I didn't mind getting wet. "Where can I change?" I asked Link.
"Uhh. I live alone so.. just change up there. I won't look."
"Ok... I'm gonna keep an eye on you." I motioned for him to turn around and he did. I took my shirt off and quickly put the other one on. I took my boots off and then my pants. I grabbed the shorts and put them on. I looked down at Link. He scratched the back of his head and tapped his boots on the floor.
"Are you done?" He spoke.
"Yeah."
"Alright."
He then changed as well and we headed off for the beach. It was a warm sunny day, perfect for the beach. We took our time walking around the village, Link showed me the shops and introduced me to some people. He showed me the clothes dye store that looked pretty cool. We talked to a few people but quickly left so we could get to the beach. As we walked over a small bridge in the town Link grabbed my arm and pulled me to his right side. I looked up at him confused. "What was that for?" I whispered.
"That guy over there likes to check out girls. I don't know if you like that but if I were you I wouldn't appreciate being checked out by someone like that." He said. I glanced over at the man he was talking about. He was a tall guy, a bit overweight and was leaning on a small horse stall. Link was right, he was looking at me up and down licking his lips. It was creepy and gross, it's like his eyes were glued onto me. He was so focused on my body he didn't even notice I was staring at him. I frowned in disgust.
"Thanks." I said.
"No problem." He smiled.
We continued on the path to the beach, we passed a few more houses and a pasture until we reached the top of the hill. We continued walking and headed down the hill towards the beach. Once we reached the beach we placed the towels on the sand. I sat down and looked at the sea. The beach in Akkala was cold, I never went into the water or to the beach. It wasn't that pretty either plus it was infested with monsters. I lied down and looked up at the trees. They casted a shadow over Link and I.
"Tell me more about you." Link turned into his side and rested his head on his hand.
"What do you want to know?"
"Anything."
"I don't know what to tell you."
"How about..." He thought for a bit. "Your family."
"Something else." I don't like talking about them. Not all of us got along well, only me and my mom. That's one of the reasons why I left Akkala.
"Ok, Eva." I thought he'd be like other people and keep insisting, but he didn't.
"Eva. I've had her for about 3 years now. Some travelers horse had a foal and he didn't want it. So I bought her and we've been together ever since. What about Epona?"
"I've had her basically all my life. She's about 10 years old now. We do just about everything together when we travel. Eat, sleep.. bathe." We both laughed. "She's just a great horse and I love her to death." I found it adorable the way he talked about his horse. He's such a kind person. "Where do you plan on going next?" He asked.
"Why, are you going to come with me?" I smirked.
"Maybe.."
"I'd like to visit the Rito Village." I knew that was pretty far from Hateno but I've heard it's a wonderful place.
"That so far from here." He looked up. "How about we make a deal."
"What?"
"I will take you anywhere you want, as well as make sure you don't get hurt. As long as you make my meals." He said. I pretended to think about it. I honestly really liked spending time with him and I loved the idea.
"Deal." I smiled.
"When would you like to leave?"
"You're the one that knows about traveling."
"Alright, how about tomorrow morning?"
"Sounds good." I said.
We stayed at the beach until the sunset. It was a beautiful view, the sky turned orange and reflected on the water. Once night came it got cold. I wrapped myself with the sandy towel as we walked back up the hill. Once we made it back in the town we walked back to Links house. I changed into some more comfortable clothes and sat down on the bed. I lied down and covered myself in blankets. I faced the wall and closed my eyes. I could hear Link humming from downstairs as he made a bed out of blankets, I smiled and soon drifted off into a deep sleep.
