Next up, recovery
I felt instant relief knowing they were back.
"Have you talked to them?"
"No. I saw them riding up to the entrance and I came as quick as I could."
"Let's go then." I said. I needed to see Link, I needed to know if he was ok.
Both of us ran across the courtyard and through the castle non stop until we reached the entrance. Moo arrived shortly afterwards. What I saw wasn't what I expected or wanted to see.
Everyone was wounded, cuts, stabs, bruises. A few knights were dead... and Link was no where in sight.
"W- where's Link?" I anxiously asked. No one answered me which made me even more desperate to know. I walked up to the general. "Where is he?! Is he alive??"
"He's in the carriage... he's not well." He looked back at a carriage being led by Epona.
"What happened?!"
"They ambushed us as we were leaving. One of the rookies was caught and you know Link. While trying to save him he got stabbed... the sword went right through him." I ran over to the carriage where he was. Link was lying on the floor covered in a blanket next you a young boy. His skin was pale and the blanket was soaked in blood. I knelt down on the floor and observed his unconscious body.
"He saved my life." The young boy said. Why was Link like this? He acts before he thinks and goes and gets himself hurt. "I'll do anything to help, I owe him my life."
I didn't say anything. I just observed Link and held his cold hands. The carriage came to a stop and a group of guards came and carried him out. I walked out of the carriage to follow them but Zelda stopped me.
"(Y/n) you can't go after him. He needs surgery." I went limp in her arms as I cried.
"Why? Why does he always do this?"
"I don't know.. but ever since I met him he's been like this. But don't worry though, we have the best doctors and they're going to help him."
"How can I not worry? He's bleeding out in there." I pointed to the castle. I looked over Zelda's shoulder and saw my mother.
"Sweetheart what happened? Is Link ok?"
"At the moment no, but he will be." Zelda said. "(Y/n) let's go inside and we'll wait until they've stabilized him."
We went inside and sat outside the room Link was in. I was even more worried now. I was glad that he's here but the state he's in is giving me so much anxiety.
Hours went by and none of the doctors had come out to tell us anything. There were 3 in there and not one had come out.
"(Y/n) please sit down, they'll be out to tell us how he is soon." My mother said. I glared at her. I was tired of people telling me to calm down and to not worry. I have every right to worry right now.
"Mom I can't! A sword sliced right
through him!" I snapped at her. The door to the room then opened. I looked up at the doctor who was covered in blood. "How is he?" I asked.
"Will he be ok?" Zelda stood up.
"He's Fine. After several blood transfusions we stabilized him and stitched him up. For now he just needs to rest. We're going to take him to the recovery room down the hall where we can monitor him."
"When can we see him?"
"Tomorrow. He needs to rest."
"Alright, we'll be back tomorrow." Zelda said.
Yeah... tomorrow. I thought to myself. I didn't want to leave, he's always stayed by my side when I was hurt and I wanted to do the same. I'm sure Zelda noticed my hesitance.
"Is there any way she can stay with him tonight?" Zelda asked. The doctor looked down at me and though about it for a second.
"There's a couch you can sleep on but please don't wake him. He needs to sleep."
" I won't!" I smiled. I was so happy I could stay. Even if it was just sleeping in the same room as him. I just wanted to see for myself that he was ok.
I walked them back to their rooms before heading over to mine to grab myself a pillow and blanket. I quickly walked back to the recovery room. I slowly opened the door and walked into the dark room. There were machines monitoring his vitals and the only light on was the lamp next to the couch.
I placed my things on the couch and took my shoes off and lied down. I looked back at Link, he was in a deep sleep. I smiled knowing he was ok. At last I could sleep peacefully.
I slept for a few hours until I heard someone whispering my name. Again, and again and again. So I woke up.
"(Y/n) wake up." Link whispered. I squinted my eyes and looked over at him.
"Link! Why are you awake?" I slowly got up and walked over to him. "You need go sleep."
"How can I sleep without you in bed with me?" He said. I smiled and ran my hands through his hair.
"Link you're hurt." I told him. "I don't wanna make anything worse."
"Fine! But give me a kiss!" I smiled and kissed him. He smiled and spanked me. He was wide awake.
"What is up with you?" I giggled. He laughed and kissed me again. He was full of so much energy which surprised me after what happened.
"Nothing! I just love you a lot." He smiled. "And I missed you so much."
"I missed you too." He gently caressed my cheek.
"I'm sorry I couldn't bring your brother back." He said. "I promise that as soon as I get better I'll go back."
"No, it's useless. He's not at the hideout."
"How do you know?"
"Manny told me."
"Manny?!" Link sat up and hissed in pain.
"Take it easy Link." I frowned.
"Why did you go down there?"
"To ask him if he knew anything. He said my brother isn't at the hideout, but he doesn't know where. Apparently neither do the other clan members."
"Were you alone?" I shook my head.
"Zuel was down there." I said.
"Are you ok?"
"Yeah, I'm fine." Link pulled me towards him and hugged me tightly. I hugged him back sighed. "Also....."
"What?"
"My dad apologized... about everything." We stayed quiet. Link knew all about the relationship I have with my father. Neither of us liked him.
"Do you believe him?"
"I want to...." I sighed. "But it's hard to after everything that's happened. He said he wants to get to know you and he appreciates what you did for us." Link smiled.
"I'd do anything for you."
"Really? Anything?" I smirked and hovered over him.
"Anything..." I giggled and leaned in close to him.
"Then go to sleep." I whispered in his ear and pulled away.
"Oh what? I thou- you're evil." He chuckled. I giggled and walked back to the couch.
"Seriously though, I'm tired and the doctor says you need to rest too." I wrapped myself in the blanket.
"Ha! I've never listened to my doctors and I'm fine."
"Well you've never had a fiancé and I'm making sure you do as the doctor says." I looked over at him. He smiled at me.
"Goodnight baby."
"Goodnight."
