Across the desert

I'm not sure how long I was out for. But when I woke up I realized I was in the middle of the desert. Sand dunes surrounded me for miles, and everything looked the same in every direction. I looked down and saw Link next to me. He was unconscious. I then got a throbbing pain in my side and saw bandages wrapped around me. The two Yiga girls must've bandaged up my wounds. I was still half naked though, they couldn't have at least given me a shirt? "Link wake up." I shook Link lightly. He didn't respond. "Link?" I shook him a bit harder. But still nothing. My heart began racing. "Link wake up." I pressed my fingers on his neck to check for a pulse, he was fine. "Link come on." I smacked his chest. He coughed and shot up. I was relieved he was awake. "Li-" he held a finger up and turned away from me. Soon after he threw up. I pat his back trying go sooth him as he puked. Once he finished we wiped his mouth and faced me. "Are you ok?" I asked. He nodded and again turned to his side and puked again. Once he finished he looked over at me. He looked so tired. "Try not to throw up anymore. You need whatever is in your stomach." I smiled.

"Yeah.." He mumbled. "Baby, help me up." He asked. I got up and helped him stand, although I was in a great deal of pain from the hole in my side. I put his arm around my shoulder as I helped him walk. I then realized I didn't have shoes on, and the sand was scorching. I didn't care though, Link wasn't wearing shoes either so I guess we'll suffer together.

"Do you know which way you're headed?" I asked.

"Gerudo town. They'll help you there." Gerudo town? Where there are only women allowed?

"No! I don't need help." I winced as another wave of pain surged through my body. "Link where else can we go?"

"(Y/n) you're hurt. I just need food and water. You need medical attention."

"I don't care about me." He then tripped on something and slipped out of my grasp and fell onto the burning sand. He groaned as I kneeled down next to him. Tears filled my eyes seeing him like this. "Link come on." I tried pulling him up again. For such a short dude he was pretty heavy. He stayed limp on the ground doing absolutely nothing to help me. "Link you have to help me out here." I grunted as I yanked his arm.

"(Y/n) I'm just slowing you down. Go get yourself some help." He looked into my eyes. I glared at him.

"I already told you, no. I'm not leaving you. Plus without you I'd get lost and end up dead so get your ass up." I said and stood him up. He chuckled. "What?"

"Your cute." I smiled.

"Come on. Let's get going do we don't die out here." I laughed.

"First take my shirt, you'll burn out here."

"No, I'll be fine. Then you'll burn."

"(Y/n) don't argue with me on this. Take my shirt." He stopped walking and began to slip off his shirt.

"Fine." I helped him out and put the shirt on myself.

We continued walking in that blazing sun for hours. The day was beginning to end and Link said we still weren't close. The air began to get cold and both Link and I were shivering. I just wanted to get to Kara Kara Bazaar so they could help us.

"We're getting close." Link trembled.

"That's good." I smiled.

After slowly walking through the desert I was able to see what looked like civilization.

"I can see something up ahead."

"We're close. (Y/n) go and get someone, I'll stay here."

"No, we're already this close." Soon all the pain from the burning sand on my feet and the days heat began to get to me. My legs were weak and I didn't want to walk anymore. My feet were blistered from not having shoes on. I wish I could just lie down and sleep. Soon the sand changed to solid rocks and the pain in my feet only got worse.

I called out for help but my throat was so dry barely anything came out. I began getting nauseous and lightheaded. I took only a few more steps before passing out again.

When I woke up I was in a unfamiliar bed, it seemed to be in the wall. I slowly sat up and noticed I had on different clothes, I was glad I was wearing something. I then saw Link sitting on the floor resting his head on my bed. He was asleep and I didn't want to wake him so I just laid back on the bed and looked at the room. There was a ladder next to my bed. I saw vases and bags scattered around, also a woman with bright red hair was facing towards the entrance of the building. I looked at the wall by the bed and saw some books so I grabbed one and started reading it.

After some time I felt Link shuffling around so I set the book down. He yawned and rubbed his eyes before looking up at me and smiling.

"How long have you been up?" He crawled onto the bed and sat at the opposite side from me.

"A while." I sat up to give him more room.

"Why didn't you say something?"

"I didn't wanna bug you, plus I found a book to read and I didn't want you to bug me." He laughed.

"I'm glad your ok, and thanks."

"For what?" I asked.

"For saving me." He smiled. "For dragging me across the desert and keeping me alive." He laid down in between my legs and rested his head on my chest.

"After all you've done for me, it was the least I could do." I ran my hand through his blonde hair. He chuckled and hugged my waist and sighed. "Are you still tired?" He nodded. I smiled and continued to play with his hair. "Sleep well." I kissed his forehead.

I continued reading the book as he slept. Eventually I got bored of reading and just played with Links hair. It feels so soft and silky, I could go on forever. As Link adjusted his I noticed my shirt was wet. I looked down and saw Link crying in his sleep. I shook him lightly to wake him up. His head shot up and he looked around. "You ok? You were crying in your sleep."

"I was?" He got off of me and wiped his tears. "I'm sorry. I need some air." He smiled. "I'll get someone to be with you." He got out of the bed. I gave him a worried look. "I'm fine." He reassured me before walking off.

Not much later a woman came over and checked up on me. She had dark skin and beautiful red hair. She changed my bandages and gave me some food to eat. I didn't have much of an appetite, I just wanted to check up on Link. I ate what I could and got out of bed. I walked out of the building into the heat of the desert. There was large pond that I didn't notice last night as well as a few little shops. I walked around the area looking for Link but I couldn't find him.

I continued to walk around the place until I thought of looking behind the building we were at. And as I thought there he was sitting against the wall. "Hey." I smiled. He looked up at me and smiled.

"Hey baby." I sat down I front of him. "How are you feeling?"

"Pretty ok. Just trying to forget everything that's happened." I said as I drew lines in the sand. He sighed.

"Talk to me." I crawled over next to him and leaned onto his shoulder.

"I feel humiliated." I said. "I feel disgusting and used. And so many other awful things." I said while I watched the sand fly with the wind. Link hugged me tightly.

"I'm sorry I didn't get there earlier." He kissed my forehead. "I'm sorry for dragging you into that mess."

"Don't be." I kissed his cheek. "I don't care what happens to me, as long as we're together." I smiled.

The rest of the day we walked around the place and talked by the pond. We ate and talked until it was night. Again a woman came and checked on my wounds and changed the bandages. After talking for a bit longer with Link we fell asleep.
