Thanks to PsychoticIntrovert, I now know that this game has been officially announced.

The first thing that I thought of when I saw that image was Reimu herself. Seems like ZUN is using his Hidden Star art style for this. I like it.

Looking at the shot type selection screen now. The motif is spirit animals I guess, with Reimu taking on the power of one of the three animals. That's pretty cool, but it would be also nice if Reimu was actually had turtle powers so Genji can appear or something. I don't think we know how many characters this game has. I'm implying that we currently have three at the moment because Marisa is very likely to appear in the game. Who's the third one you may be wondering?

Youmu. Yeah! Youmu! Her last appearance was in Ten Desires! Wow! She's back. I have a predicament that Sakuya might return as well...? I don't know.

Ok... so there are beast icons to collect and getting five of them leads to some super attack or what not. So it really doesn't matter which beast type you choose because they lead to having the different icons throughout the game.

This is what happens when you collect five icons. Now this looks slightly like an arcade shoot-em-up Cave or Capcom would make.

Yes. There are shooters that are better than some of the Touhou games, including DoDonPachi, Ikaruga, and 1943.

The lasers remind me of Marisa, so I'm implying that it's her in the image.

Anyways, since touhou games are usually released around Comiket, I bet that Touhou 17 will be released on August 10, 2019.
