You Protect Me?

Yoongi's POV-

"Something's happened. He wouldn't just stop answering. And especially not for this long."

He assured me that we would keep in contact so something must have happened. Kook doesn't lie. Not to me. Something's happened!

I continue to pace around Yeol's room as he sits at his desk with his laptop, hardly paying any attention to me. I huff in annoyance before I turn fully so that I'm facing him.

"Why aren't you offering me words of comfort like a good friend should?! You're doing the opposite."

He scoffs. "I did the 'good friend' thing twenty minutes ago when I told you the first time that you were overreacting. It didn't work then..." He brings his eyes up from his computer to meet mine with an annoying smirk, "And I doubt it will work now."

"W-well... Don't just ignore me. At least pretend to listen. What are you doing that is so important that it has to be done now anyway?"

"I'm helping Taehyung."

"Helping Taehyung?" I ask as I tilt my head in confusion. Taehyung asked him for help? "Helping him with what?"

"He asked me if I could pick back up with my reverse hacking. He needs to find Irene's main investigator guy."

I furrow my brows. "I thought that you two had tried that before and never got anywhere."

He nods, now focusing fully on his computer again. "It's true, we didn't get far, but our focus was Hyuk then. Right now I'm trying to get information on the other guy. I don't know why we didn't do this sooner honestly.

"I've already gotten further with tracking this guy's IP address in the last fifteen minutes then the weeks I spent trying to do the same with Hyuk."

"Tracking his IP address?"

"Yes. A few months ago one of the digital trails I had found when we were looking for Hyuk seemed to lead away from him so at that time I abandoned looking further into it, but Tae called and said that he thought we should revisit that lead. That he thought it may help us get a location for this guy.

"He proved his genius yet again because this does seem to be leading to the guy!" He says with an excited smile, before it slips a little, "Or at least to somewhere in the city. Hopefully to the guy though."

"Where in the city?" I ask curiously as I walk to where I can stand beside him to see his screen.

"Over on the west side." He mumbles as he begins clicking around, opening a new tab that brings up a map of Seoul.

He clicks the search bar and as he begins to type the address I immediately recognize it.

"Why do you need to find him again?"

"Tae says that he is in danger. Irene is going to kill him."

This really catches me off guard. If this address belongs to who I think it does, what did he do? I can't think of any reason she would want him dead. She adores him. She's told me thousands of times how perfect he is and how I should be more like him.

Wait... I freeze when I realize Yeol just said he was looking for her investigator. Jinyoung isn't an investigator is he?

"You said this is where her investigator lives?" I ask to clarify, still doubtful that this is the case.

"Yeah. Her new main guy."

"I don't know about that, but he does work for her. If Irene's angry enough with him to even think about harming him at all we need to get there now." I say, stepping around him towards where my jacket had been tossed onto his bed.

"You know where he is? And you know the guy?!" Yeol speaks out quickly as I hear him stand up from his chair.

"Yes." I say before turning to him as I pull my jacket on. "And you know him too."

He furrows his brows. "How would I know-"

"If the address you just pulled up belongs to her investigator, it's Jinyoung. Jang Jinyoung."

His eyes widen as he gasps out in surprise. "But, that doesn't make sense. He's not a computer guy is he? And putting that aside, she wouldn't hurt him. She's known him for forever." He says as he continues to rush to get all of his things into his laptop bag.

"We didn't think she would ever hurt you either Yeol..." I say quietly.

He chuckles sadly. "That's true."

It's quiet as he finishes packing his bag while I shrug on my jacket before I try to call Kook once more.

Fuck. Still no answer. I send a quick text to him to have him call me when he can as well as to ask him to have his mother call myself or Yeol before stuffing my phone back into my pocket.

"Ready?" Yeol asks just as I've put my phone away.

I nod.

"Let's head over then." Yeol says with an anxious expression as he swings his bag over his shoulder.

.......

As we walk through the halls of the eerily quiet apartment building my heart is beating wildly. I can't explain why, but I have a very bad feeling in my stomach. A feeling that we are in over our heads and should have called for some sort of back up.

Yeol still has trouble lifting anything too heavy and I'm, well... I'll fight as best I can but I've seen Irene's guards. They're monstrous. And if they could manhandle one hundred and eighty five centimeter tall Yeol, I won't be able to do much I'm afraid.

As we are rounding the last corner before Jinyoung's apartment we hear a crash. The sudden loud noise makes me jump and I immediately turn back to look at Yeol.

We stare at each other wide eyed for a moment as we listen closer for any other sounds. We can't hear anything else and definitely can't tell what unit the original sound had come from. If it was coming from inside Jinyoung's or one of the surrounding rooms, but it was close.

I turn back and continue walking to the room slowly. Just as the door comes into view I stop in my tracks, causing Yeol to bump into my back.

The door hasn't been shut all the way. It's cracked.

"Hey, wh-" he begins to grumble before he follows my gaze and he too notices the door. "Fuck. We should have brought back up."

I nod, unable to speak as I gulp.

"Let's just go slowly." Yeol says as he moves to step around me.

"What are you doing?" I glare confusedly at him.

"I'll go first. I figured I should since I'm bigger than you." He whispers.

"The fuck you will!" I hiss, grabbing the strap of his bag to stop him from walking any further as I glare up at him. "Size doesn't matter! And I'm in better physical condition than you are. You still bitch about your ribs hurting when you tie your shoes."

He scoffs as he turns to face me fully, standing between me and the door. "Excuse me for trying to protect my best friend. And I'm doing just fine. I don't even bitch that much." He says with a soft pout.

I place my hand on his shoulder. "I didn't mean to hurt your pride Yeol. I just meant-"

The sound of a man clearing his throat could be heard behind me, cutting my sentence short.

Our eyes widen again before I spin around, unintentionally stumbling backwards into Yeol's chest.

"Who are you?" I say, trying to sound brave even though I'm faced with a broad shouldered, wide chested, man. Luckily he's about my height but other than that, he'd be a tough guy for me to fight, let alone for the fight to go in my favor.

"Hyuk?!" Yeol gasps.

Oh thank God. I hope Yeol really does recognize him as Hyuk. Then maybe I won't have to fight him.

"Why are you here?"

"I'm guessing it's for the same reason you are. I came to see if there was a chance Irene brought Jinyoung back here."

He says as he peaks around us to see the door before looking back at us with hopeful eyes, "Did you see him?"

I look at him confused, about to say that we hadn't even had a chance to go inside when I remember the door. He probably thinks we left it open.

"No. The door was open when we got here."

His eyes widen slightly before he pulls a gun from his waistband.

God bless Hyuk, I feel one hundred times better with some actual protection.

"How long had you been here for before I got here?" He asks, eyes not leaving the door.

"We had just gotten to the room less than a minute before you did." Yeol answers.

Hyuk nods as he steps further around us to get closer to the door, nudging it open with his gun when it's within reach as he peaks in cautiously, listening for any sounds.

He leans back out, mouths for us to wait her in the hall before he walks in fully, not switching on any lights.

Yeol and I hold our breath, listening closely. It isn't until I feel Yeol shift on his feet that I realize that I have pressed myself closely to his side with a fist full of his shirt tightly in my clutch.

He looks down at my hands as well (I'm guessing he realized our closeness and that's why he shifted his weight in the first place) and when I look up at him he is biting back a smile.

I don't dignify his reaction with any verbal response, only a scowl. I can already hear what he's going to say, "And you thought you were going to protect me, Yoongs?" Asshole.

When we hear some rustling coming from inside we both turn our attention back to the door. It's not gunshots, thank God, but it does sound like things are being pushed around and broken.

"The place is clear." Hyuk yells from inside a short time later.

We rush into the apartment, not really sure where to go so Yeol yells out, "Where are you?"

"I'm in the back bedroom." We hear Hyuk call down the hall.

We rush down to the room he's directed us to. Once in the doorway we see Hyuk sitting in the middle of a room that looks like it was hastily packed up and moved.

Black chords are everywhere with no devices to be connected to and the desk chair is laying in the corner upside down, wheels still spinning (I think the chair being tossed was one of the noises.)

"Was this an office?" Yeol asks and my heart sinks.

For all of the times I've been here I am now realizing this door has always been shut. Irene has even been shut in here with Jinyoung before when she's asked me to pick her up from her lessons.

"This was his computer room. Wasn't it." I ask, to which Hyuk sighs with a nod.

"So he was her investigator. Unbelievable." I scoff.

"The room is empty." Yeol says as he scans the desks with missing monitors, only random keyboards and mouses remaining. "They took it all."

"They took everything here, which fucking sucks because it would have been a lot easier to access, but I am betting they don't know about the room at the company. There should be a hard drive there like the one I have there." Hyuk says, bringing his knees to his chest and running his hands over his face.

"Unless they tortured the information out of him, he and I are the only ones that know about the room. Well, he, myself and Taehyung." He says as he drops his head into his hands.

"Taehyung? O-our Taehyung?" I ask shakily.

Fuck, if he's in danger I don't know what I'll do. Kook would kill me if anything happened to him.

"When did you talk to him? Where is he headed to?" Yeol asks quickly as he takes his phone out of his pocket and dials, probably calling Taehyung.

"I spoke with him about an hour before I came here. I told him where he needed to go in the company as well as the passcode to get in. I also told him to call me when he got there."

Just then a phone starts to ring. Yeol has his still up to his ear, it's not his as he has just been sent to Taehyung's voicemail. I pull my phone out of my pocket, really wishing it were mine because that would mean Kook might be calling, but my hope is crushed when I hear a low "Did you make it?" come from Hyuk.

Yeol and I turn to Hyuk, eyes wide and body almost shaking with anticipation as we listen closely, hoping by some miracle to hear what's being said on the other line by Taehyung.

"And the code still works." Hyuk clarifies.

Hyuk nods, "Good. Now there's a-"

"What?" He asks with widened eyes.

"What does he look like? Is he hurt?!" He begins to raise his voice as he stands up quickly.

Taehyung is with Jinyoung?

"What?" His expression starts to fall.

"We'll come-" His eyes widen again before he basically yells, "Do you know how many?"

Its a longer stretch of silence as Hyuk begins to pace.

"In broad fucking daylight." He growls angrily to himself.

"Okay, only call if the coast is clear. Keep doing what you're doing to help him and I will try to get help there as soon as possible. I'll talk to you soon."

He abruptly hangs up the line before tossing the phone on the nearby desk.

He runs his hands over his face again as he turns to Yeol and myself.

No words have been said yet. I think there are way too many questions to even know where to begin.

"Taehyung made it to the company?" Yeol asks slowly.

Hyuk nods, "He made it, and he has Jinyoung, but he's hurt. Badly." He begins pacing again,

"I don-" he pauses, scoffing in disbelief. "She took him in the middle of the day. And now she has guards running around the company looking for him. IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY."

"She is un-fucking-believable." Yeol mumbles angrily.

"I-is Taehyung hurt?" I ask softly, hoping the answer is no.

"He's fine, but Jinyoung could quite literally bleed out at any moment and medical assistance is out of the question because the place is crawling with her people. People working under Irene's instruction. He's locked in that room until we can sneak him out somehow."

"Oh my god." I say as I stumble to my side. Somehow Yeol manages to help me stay on my feel and guides me to lean on a now empty desk next to him.

"How are we going to get him out?" I say barely over a whisper.

Hyuk continues to pace for a few minutes before his steps slows and eventually halt.

"We are going to have to draw the guards away."

"Like, a diversion? How?" Yeol asks slowly.

"There's only one person Irene wants more than Jinyoung right now. I'm sure she's relayed to her security to abandoned their current target if a more important person were spotted."

No. No, he can't mean-

"I'm going to have to go to the company and draw them away."
