Chapter Twenty-Three
Fires raged furiously throughout the city and on the castle grounds. The people screamed and struggled to get free, soldiers fighting their hardest, no matter which side they belonged to.
Katsuki walked through the smoke, expression hard and menacing as he made his way into the palace.
Just inside, he found the Emperor standing over three bodies, each one of Katsuki's soldiers.
The young King growled, blood boiling. He gripped the handle of his blade as he raised it level with his shoulder, pointing to the older man. "You... You took my Omega. My future Queen."
Enji narrowed his eyes and raised his chin. "Is that what this bloodshed is about? A measly Omega?"
"When you took that Omega, you declared war on Dargona!" Katsuki snapped back, his furious scent of smoke filling the air around him.
The Emperor huffed and raised his blood-covered sword. "Well, then, Beast King... You can fight me if you wish, but you should know- the Omega was killed yesterday."
Red flashed behind Katsuki's eyes and he roared, lunging for the larger Alpha.
Their blades clashed, the ringing deafening.
Katsuki snarled and unsheathed his second blade.
Enji twisted his blade and parried, pivoting out of the way of a second strike. "You're weak with rage, Beast King!"
"I'll kill you!"
"Even if you manage that, my son will avenge me!"
Katsuki smirked and raised both his blades. "Oh, I wouldn't count on that... Emperor Enji..."

Shoto coughed, covering his mouth and nose with his cloak as he ushered children and their mothers into the tunnels.
Smoke filled the air, nearly suffocating everyone.
Eyes dilled with tears, lungs burning for fresh air, the citizens hurried into the tunnel.
"Dear Prince Shoto Todoroki!"
The Prince stiffened as he heard the Beast King nearby.
"Come out, come out, where ever you are!"
Shoto grit his teeth. "Iida, make sure everyone gets to safety."
"But, your highness-"
"Go!" Shoto snapped back.
Tenya clenched his jaw, then nodded, turning his attention to the people.
Shoto grasped the handle of his own blade as he walked around the wall. He made his way through the stable and spotted the King in the courtyard.
Katsuki stood by the fountain, blood smattered on his face and bare chest, surrounded in a halo of smoke. His cloak fluttered, torn at the edges and bloodstained.
The Prince breathed deeply and slowly approached. "The Beast King, Katsuki Bakugou..."
Red eyes flashed in his direction and a snarl curled his lips. The King squared his shoulders and raised his chin. "Where is he?"
"I do not know who you speak of," Shoto replied curtly, raising his blade slightly to prepare for an attack.
The King stalked towards him. "My Omega! I can smell him on you! I smelled him in the palace! He was here! Where the hell is he!?" Katsuki swung ome blade up so the tip was mere inches away from Shoto's throat.
The Prince wouldn't give the King the satisfaction of any reaction. His mind reeled though. Izuku... He's here for Izuku. "He's dead, Bakugou."
Katsuki hissed, bristling furiously. His scent heavied with rage, almost more suffocating than the smoke around them. "Liar! My chief of trade saw him here days ago! His scent is still fresh in the palace!"
He can't find him. He'll hurt Izuku.
Shoto steeled his jaw and lifted his chin, returning the glare. "We were amushed yesterday... Mercenaries, presumably under Shigaraki. They burned him in front of my own eyes."
The blond stepped closer, tip of his bloodied blade pressing into Shoto's shoulder. "You don't have to lie for your father's sake, bastard Prince. He's dead." He gestured to the open doors to the palace.
A chill shot down Shoto's spine as he looked over to see his father's body, crumpled at the top of the cobblestone steps. His blood trailed down, still running fresh.
Shoto felt bile rise in his throat and he forced himself to look back to the feral Alpha before him.
Katsuki was smirking now, eyes glinting proudly. "How's it feel..? Seeing your old man so pitiful... You hated the damn bastard, everyone did. He stole my Izuku for you, didn't he? He set this whole thing up, saying Izuku died so I would just give up, huh? I don't fucking think so. Seems a little too convienient."
What does he say? How does he respond to that? How was Shoto supposed to know the Beast King would be waging war the day aftet he said goodbye to the Omega?
No matter what, this man could not be allowed to ever be near Izuku again.
"Where is my Omega!?" Katsuki shouted, pupils in thin slits, teeth bared. "Tell me or I'll kill you where you stand!"
"Then," Shoto slid his foot back slowly, lifting his blade, "kill me if you must."
Katsuki roared and jerked his blade.
Shoto gasped and jumped back, grasping at the stinging on his shoulder.
The King charged, arcing both blades.
Gritting his teeth, Shoto parried and shoved him back. "You'll never find him!"
Katsuki hissed and swung wildly. "I'll bring him home if it's the last Goddamn thing I do!"
Shoto could only block and back away with each attack, the King attacking with blinding rage. He grit his teeth as one of the blades caught his arm. Shit! I'm too slow!
"I'll fucking kill you, you damn half and half bastard!" He brought both blades above his head and swung down hard.
Shoto was only fast enough to block one. The other swiped across his stomach, a fiery agony ripping through his torso. He stumbled back, holding the wound. Shoto panted, looking up to the King with as hard of a glare as he could muster.
Katsuki growled, fingers flexing around the handles of his blades. He slowly raised his right hand above his head, red eyes trained on blue and gray. "I'll find him... Even if I have to tear Endeavor apart, piece by fucking piece."
"Do what you must..." I can only hope Izuku can keep a step ahead.
He steeled himself for the oncoming attack. He's done for. He knows it. The Beast King takes no prisoners.
Katsuki's roar echoed, overpowering a desperate cry neither Prince nor King heard.
Shoto gripped his sliced, bloodied vest, maintaining eye contact.
The blade came down as Katsuki charged forward, glinting in the light of the fire.
Green flashed between them and for a second, Shoto thought he may be hallucinating.
"Kacchan, no!"
