Chapter Eleven
Worry pricked at the back of Shoto's mind, fingers plucking at the ends of his sleeves. His father is worried that any day now the Barbarian King will wage war. Everyone in surrounding kingdoms are worried.
No one even knows the reason behind the growing fits of anger.
Shoto is worried that his Omega will become distressed if he hears of the rage ready to explode at the drop of a pin.
Wait.
The prince halted, hand hovering above the knob to his bedroom door.
His Omega?
Since when was Izuku his?
Never... Izuku is try to escape away to a better life. Away from his previously betrothed and his previous king... Away from Shoto's father... Shoto cannot allow himself to become to attached to the greenette.
Before his guard could question the hesitation, Shoto pushed open his door.
He sighed, shuddering and relaxing as a wave of Izuku's wonderful scent washed over him. Shoto then blinked and looked around.
Izuku was curled up in the chaise beside the open terrace windows, nose half-buried in the book he held. He was so very invested in the words, eyes wide as he soaked in each bit of information. With the lack of consciousness, his scent poured off of him and Shoto was sure the scent would be there to stay.
Shoto smiled and closed his door, excusing Tenya Iida.
The Omega perked up, attention snapped away from his book. "Oh, Shoto. I didn't hear you come in."
The Alpha hummed and approached slowly. "You seemed very interested in the book. I see you're allowed alone in my room now," he mused, sitting on the edge of the chaise.
Izuku grinned, shifting slightly closer. "Yeah! You were right about your father believing the more physical stuff. I was practically immediately allowed in here. Your room is really nice, by the way. Kinda cold. There's not really... Color or personality to it."
Shoto shrugged, looking around his room. "Never really thought about decorating... Think it's a waste of time and energy..."
"Or," Izuku moved so he sat right beside the prince, leaning into him, "you don't know how to express yourself..."
He raised a brow, turning his gaze back to the Omega.
Izuku smiled back. "Think about it. The only thing your father cares about is the fact that you're his perfect successor. Your mother wasn't around for most of your life. Outside of your princely duties, you don't have much of a personal life. Because of this, you don't have much to say about yourself. I think, deep down... You have trouble figuring out who you are... As a person, not as a prince."
Shoto breathed deeply, looking across his room. He supposed the Omega was right. He didn't know who he was aside from being a prince. His father didn't really allow him to be anyone else.
"Color."
The prince furrowed his brows. "What?"
Izuku grinned and stood. "You start with color. Start at the very basics. What is your favorite color?"
Shoto blinked, staring at the Omega before him. The sun shone just right through the windows behind him, casting Izuku in an ethereal glow. His eyes and smile were so bright, Shoto thought for a moment he may go blind. He swallowed hard, staring into those eyes. Veridian. That's his favorite color. The exact shade and exact glimmer. "Blue," was all he could say.
The Omega turned, chin between his fingers as he looked around. "Yes... Yes, I can see it. A dark blue. Dark blue suits you very well. Change the drapes and the duvet, keep the white pillows, maybe keep the chaise-"
The prince watched in awe, the focus on Izuku's face was brilliant. He could see the cogs turning in his mind.
And he realized something.
It clicked as Izuku had his arms spread wide, facing the empty wall across his room with his head tilted back to look over his shoulder to Shoto. He was saying something about a painting, maybe. Shoto wasn't sure, but it made sense. Izuku's eyes sparkled happily, even as he waved goodbye, Mezo Shoji escorting him away and to his room.
Tenya stood in the doorway, eyebroe cocked and and head tilted in concern. "Your highness?"
Shoto stood blankly by the chaise, mind muddled and heart beginning to throb. "Iida... I think... I might be falling in love with him..."
