Chapter 35: Interrupted Slumber
Fluttershy's POV
I woke up to the sound of some faint knocking on the door of the hotel room. When I stretched and looked over at the time on the alarm clock, it was three in the morning. Rainbow Dash's arm was wrapped protectively around me as I slept. Slowly and cautiously, I lifted myself off of the mattress and thankfully Rainbow continued to snore softly.
When I arrived at the door, I opened it to find Featherweight carrying a sleeping Angel in his arms. Featherweight's eyes were drooping with exhaustion, and it was clear he would fall straight to sleep once he reached the second bed of my hotel room.
"Why are you up so late?" I asked in a hush. Featherweight yawned in response and allowed himself inside the room, ignoring the faint snoring coming from the other side of the room.
"Mom called me and told me to sleep in your room. She was out with a friend or something... Either way it sounded like she was having fun," Featherweight replied and carefully laid Angel down onto the second bed. I closed the door softly and secured it before walking back to my bed. "Goodnight, Shy."
"Night, Feather," I said, yawning in response. Once I was back in Rainbow's open arms, I drifted off to sleep without a worry.
It was five thirty in the morning when I woke up hearing strange noises coming from the room next door – my mother's room to be exact. The noises weren't exactly... 'Strange' to say the least. I knew what was happening, and I blushed furiously in embarrassment then buried my face into the crook of Rainbow's neck. I covered my ears as best as I could and desperately tried to ignore the noise.
"Psst... Baby... Wake up," Rainbow Dash said softly into my ear. I pouted in my slumber and tried to push her away to let me sleep. She softly laughed at my reaction and only held me closer, my back pressing against her chest warmly. She left me alone for a few minutes, and just as I was beginning to fall back into my dream –
"Knock, knock, knock!" A loud, but muffled voice said as the person behind the door knocked loudly. I groaned in frustration and pulled a pillow over my head. Next thing I knew, the person opened up the door but was cut short as the chain strained against the pressure and hit the door noisily. "Whoops..."
"Wakey, wakey, eggs and bakey," A second voice chimed in. My eyes widened. I felt Rainbow Dash sit up quickly beside me and stiffen up. I followed suite, almost ignoring the exhaustion in my body. We sat up next to each other eyeing the direction of the two voices.
"You're kidding..." Rainbow said under her breath incredulously.
"I don't think it's a joke..." I responded and darted to my feet. Sure enough, once I arrived at the door and undid the chain, I opened the door widely to see my mother and Discord standing next to each other with a happy gleam in their eyes. Discord was wearing a white dress shirt with black pants. The dress shirt itself was open halfway down his chest, and his hair was now short, but frizzy and poking out in every direction. He held a plate of breakfast in his hands, and a fork was sitting inside his mouth.
Discord removed the fork from his mouth and placed it on the plate of scrambled eggs gently, "Good morning, Fluttershy."
"I... G-Good morning, Discord..." I replied, unsure of what else to say. What was he doing here? Rainbow Dash cleared her throat in the background and I immediately heard her footsteps coming up from behind me. Discord raised an eyebrow at her and smiled menacingly.
"Hello to you too, Miss Dash. Glad to see you're doing splendid this morning," He said with a chuckle. Rainbow rolled her eyes and crossed her arms.
"I was hoping to avoid my teachers during the break, but here we are." I hit Rainbow in the stomach lightly. She widened her eyes, realizing who she was speaking to now. She stammered this time, "W-Well... Uh... Good to see you... I guess."
Discord eyed her confusingly. My mother suddenly popped up beside him wearing her usual pajamas. Just like Discord, she was holding a plate of breakfast – scrambled eggs, buttered toast, and a muffin. The one thing I instantly noticed was how she seemed to glow with radiance – happiness, almost. She was like a brand new woman.
"Good morning, girls! How's Featherweight and Angel?" She asked oblivious to our shocked expressions.
"Oh! Well... They're still asleep."
"Wake them up for me, honey... And when you're done, I need you to come to the other room for a second, okay?" My heart nearly froze. Had she spoken to Discord about his hidden daughter yet? Does he know about me? Was she going to tell him in front of me? "Fluttershy?"
"Wha – yeah, I'll do that..." I said, breaking out of my thoughts. Rainbow followed behind and sat down on the bed once more. I shook Featherweight first, then moved onto Angel. It took a few good shoves, but I finally managed to wake them up. Soon after, Featherweight and Angel went downstairs together to get their own breakfast plates, leaving Rainbow Dash and I alone once again.
"Do you think he knows?" She suddenly asked looking at me worriedly. I bit my lower lip and crossed my arms. I doubt he knows, but whatever was going to happen, I should honestly prepare just in case. I walked up to Rainbow and let her wrap her arms around my waist tightly. I kissed the top of her multicolored hair and looked into her wonderful eyes for a moment.
"I don't know... But if anything, please be there for me when I get back," I said with a small hint of concern. Rainbow nodded her head and kissed my neck gently. Her hand was lingering on mine briefly until I had to pull away to go into the other room.
As my door shut behind me, I knocked on my mother's softly. Whatever it was, it seemed to be good. They were both laughing from behind the door. The laughter silenced almost immediately when I made my presence known.
When the door swung open, Discord was at the door. His tall frame almost scared me, but I swallowed hard anxiously and walked past him into the room, and sat in front of my mother. As Discord closed the door behind him, he returned to his seat next to my mother and sat with a small smile in his lips.
"I know this was... Difficult for you, Fluttershy. It's not easy hearing the truth, but I want you to know that I – we – love you," she suddenly said with an understanding tone. Discord nodded in agreement. He opened his mouth to say something, but it seemed as if he was debating in his mind whether or not to actually say it.
"It... It was... Quite surprising to say the least, Fluttershy. But I expected something just as shocking. I wasn't exactly the responsible type of person growing up... In my youth, I was a party animal and pretty much a menace to society," Discord said, earning a playful hit by my mom. "But... If I had known about you sooner – much sooner – I would have fought to keep you in my life. Even if it meant getting beaten to a pulp by your so-called 'father.'"
My mom smiled faintly in his direction. I felt a few tears threatening to fall.
"Had I known about the abuse going on, I would have done something to help you, and the children, and especially you, Cherry," Discord rested his free hand on her lap before turning to face me. "I was just as shocked as you were, Fluttershy, believe me... And I know it'll be difficult for you to... Adapt to the sudden change in scenery, given the circumstances... But I do want you to know that I will try to be the father figure you deserve... Cherry showed me your baby picture, and my God – you had my eyes!"
Discord exclaimed, his voice cracking slightly. He sat still and closed his eyes trying to compose himself. The waterworks began, and I was now wiping away tear after tear from my cheeks.
"I promise to love you and care for you for as long as I live. You're my daughter – born and raised by the woman I've been madly in love with since we were your age," Discord added, casually brushing away a stray tear from the corner of his eye.
"You know I'd choose you over Ember any day," I said, choking back the tears. I got up and hugged Discord tightly. He was tense at first, but I felt him loosen up once he returned the embrace. Seconds later, my mother joined in and hugged us both. When we pulled away, Discord was looking at me with a genuine smile on his face.
"I know... But there is something else we wanted to discuss," Discord said suddenly. Both him and my mom exchanged excited stares.
"We're getting married."
A/N: So hopefully you all enjoyed this chapter. This was just a little filler for you guys. If you're just as surprised, leave a comment and don't forget to vote! In addition to this, I'm pleased to announce that a brand new story is coming to light, and will be making its debut in October.
Give a warm welcome to "Little Talks," a RariJack story. I plan on shipping other characters with other characters in the My Little Pony fandom.
Leave comments of your personal favorite shipping. Although I write about Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash a lot, my actual all time favorite ship is Sunset Shimmer and Twilight Sparkle/Sci Twi. Just a little fun fact (:
Also, I am open for questions in my "Ask FlutterDerp" book. I think that's what its called. I haven't seen it in a while. I feel like it's time to bring it back from the dead.
Head on over to that book and leave any questions you're curious to know about. If not there, then leave me a message through my Instagram account, flutterderp OR vsco_phonetography.
I have recently brought back my Instagram account specifically for Wattpad. It's the same username as the my Wattpad. Look me up and give me a follow for exclusive updates and a behind the scenes look into the writing and artwork process!
