Chapter 6
As Lance was being dragged out of the room he looked towards Pidge for support, hoping Pidge would snap out of it.
But Pidge didn't. Instead, Lance had to watch as Pidge screamed in pain trying to escape whatever clutches held her.
But Lance was long gone when Pidge yelled, "Lance, no!"
As Lance was pulled hallway after hallway he thought. Why does whatever's going over Pidge only happen to Pidge?
He has to put that question aside though as he gets dragged into a dark room. He can't see anything in the pure black but he can sure as hell feel things.
He feels his body be raised onto something cold and wet. He cringed as the liquid rolls down the table, landing on his skin and making Lance uncomfortable.
Lance ignored that though and closed his eyes, trying to listen more in the lack of light. It was a good thing he did close his eyes though because when the lights turned on, they were dangerously bright.
Lance slowly got his eyes opened and tried to take in where he was. He moved his head around and upon trying to move his arms, he noticed they were tied down to the table.
Lance struggled for a bit when a voice stopped him in his tracks. Haggar's voice to be specific.
"You won't get out," she informed Lance. "If anything, you'll end up hurting yourself trying."
Lance made a spitting sound to sound cool. He was terrified but he was trying to cope with jokes.
After fake spitting, he said, "I'll never stop trying. I'll die trying!"
Course, Haggar simply laughed a witchy laugh and then continued, "go ahead and die then. If this doesn't kill you I guess you'll just end up killing yourself."
Lance stopped there.
"What are you going to do to me?" he asked.
Haggar chuckled lightly, "nothing too big. A little power stealing. You'll be the test subject for this new magic machine."
"Magic machine?"
"A machine that requires my magic to run. Now, get ready."
"Wait, wait! Isn't there something I can do? Give you information to get Pidge's and I's release?"
"Well, we'll get information eventually. I need to know how this machine goes first. Now, get. Ready."
There was a count down but all the noises buzzed together. Lance was being thrust into this far too fast. He wasn't ready.
Lance felt like his head was being ripped apart and his body was phasing in and out of reality.
After that splitting pain there was nothing. It was all black and resembled a desert of nothingness.
Lance looked around and turned around. He tried to take a step but couldn't. After a while of nothing, Lance was not only bored but a little scared.
He didn't know what this was. He didn't know what kept him here. He couldn't even move. He was scared of it all.
Lance closed his eyes and hoped for something, anything. Lance hoped and hoped and imagined all the things he wanted to see around him.
When he opened his eyes again he saw Keith. A very confused and concerned Keith.
"Keith?" Lance muttered. "Is that really you?"
Keith looked right at Lance and his face changed to happiness and relief.
"Lance!" he exclaimed, overjoyed at the sight of someone else. Keith ran to Lance but Lance remembered that he couldn't move.
Lance smiled but didn't say anything. He waited for Keith to be closer to tell him everything.
It didn't matter whether this was real Keith or dream Keith, Lance just wanted to talk. He wanted to talk to someone who would listen.
But when Keith got close, he jumped towards Lance and the two went toppling to the ground.
"Keith! Oh, Keith," Lance said, holding the other boy's head in his hands. Then Lance noticed something.
This Keith seemed to be wearing exactly what Keith would wear to bed. This was something Lance didn't expect to see in a simple dream.
The two stood up and stopped hugging each other. Lance didn't know how but he could move now.
He stared at Keith for a moment, pure happiness and relief. He was so scared and now he had Keith and... was this really Keith?
"Is it really you, Keith?" Lance asked. Keith looked up and his face twisted into confusion.
"What? Really me? Lance, I'm always me. Is that really you?"
"I mean I-," Lance chuckled. "I'm really me! I-I was just- I'm on a Galra ship and-."
"Lance, calm down. Deep breaths. Are you okay? What happened? Where are you?"
"I'm okay, I'm on a galra ship. I was taken by Pidge and brought here."
Keith turned around, looking angry. He mumbled an, "I knew it." Lance stopped him and yanked him around again.
"No, no, Keith! It wasn't like that! This- it wasn't Pidge."
"But you just said it was Pidge, Lance!"
"Well, it was by wasn't. Pidge was being controlled by something, I just know it!"
There was a ringing noise that caused Keith to fall to the ground. He felt really tired, like he was waking up from something.
Lance fell down with him, trying to know what was wrong. He kept asking what was happening and if Keith was okay.
But Lance couldn't hear the ringing and Keith was going to wake up soon. When Keith disappeared, Lance woke up too.
"Keith!" he exclaimed when he awoke. Instead of Keith's face he saw Haggar.
"Connected dreams. Interesting."
